The government is incredibly invested in pushing the narrative that there's this white power/white militia/white badguy group, so it doesn't surprise me that they're investing more resources in domestic white "terrorism" than domestic black 'terrorism'

If that is indeed the case then yes, I can see a conflict of interest.

I would take that to mean, "I hope a Muslim didn't do it. They already receive so much prejudice. If a Muslim did it, it will just cement in more people's minds that Islam is a religion of terrorism. If a white guy did it, no one is going to say, 'Just like a white to do something like this!' or some such. So I hope a white did it. That way there's no worsening of racial prejudices." Not "I hope a white guy did it. That way we can use it to support our anti-white narrative! "

If you say that Chicago is a war zone or that Muslims are committing acts of terror here, you're just letting Trump win. And nobody wants that!

So with what, eleven days to the election the FBI has just announced that they've found more emails "pertinent" to the Clinton email server shenanigans.
Oof that timing.

Apparently the emails in question that they're specifically looking at are in regards to the Anthony Weiner investigation as he had been with one of Clinton's aides during that time. Still a terrible headline for Clinton though that the FBI is looking at more of the emails involved with her server.

I don't think the numbers on the informants are right. There was one informant in the convoy that picked up most of the leaders (who was in the vehicle that stopped instead of trying to run a police roadblock), and maybe a few others who grunted the right sounds about the Posse Comitatus or being a free boat not tied down by the US Corporation's fraudulent berth certificates and snuck in during the protest, but IIRC there were more than 15 people shitting up the place until the Bundys got arrested and the last four holdouts weren't stooges either. That being said, I would probably consider it remiss for the government not to keep tabs on the kind of people who are stockpiling guns and advocating for a violent overthrow of federal authority, but then I don't live in rural Oregon and don't trace my lineage from livestock within three generations. The juror who delivered the Not Guilty verdict wrote in to comment on it (trigger warning: MBA student), and all we have to go on so far is that they felt that the government failed to prove the conspiracy charge. The implication seems to be on the jury feeling that it was a weak charge for the government to prove (he remarked that the jury later asked the judge what other charges could have been brought and seemed surprised the Feds chose conspiracy as the best one), but barring anyone else talking that's all we're going to get on the rationale. Plus--while I know a lot of this information wasn't presented to the jury since it wasn't directly relevant to the case at hand--the idea that Bundy clan was "entrapped" to try and fuck with the Feds is utterly hilarious on its face. EDIT: I think I found what you're referring to, although the wording of "the FBI had 15 confidential sources feeding them information from their contacts with occupiers at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge" makes me think that at least some of those sources would be from people reporting the chatter they heard over militia channels, but not necessarily at the refuge themsleves. According to Kurt Eichenwald, people in FBI are furious at Comey for his vaguely worded statement. In fact Eichenwald's pretty angry, too- worth a look at his twitter feed.

Everyone has decided anyway. Unless this comes up with an actual trial (or oh god what if it's a conviction???), I don't care.

Honestly the big issue with this isn't the media, its Comey.
Seriously. What. The. Fuck.

A family friend who works in the FBI said that, the story about the mass resignations is true. Mostly upper ranking people who can slide easily into high-level private roles, the young guys can't do that as easily, but a lot of people are pissed at him. YMMV, of course.

Actually there are exceedingly good reasons why there is a protocol to not reveal vague details about investigations just before the election. Blame Hoover for that, but also common sense because you might not get all the details to come out before the election. And finally, accusations aren't supposed to mean anything. Just FYI, George W. Bush's ethics lawyer filed a complaint because he thinks the Hatch Act was violated.
The FBI is also investigating Donald Trump for his ties to Russia. Why haven't they made any public statement about that?

A reminder to everyone that the FBI Director can be removed at any time for any reason by the President. So assuming Hillary wins, Comey's probably gone. Even if she loses, Comey's probably gone as one of Obama's final acts in office.
Perhaps the worst decision the man could have made, I must say. |

Worst decision you can make from a career perspective.
Edward Snowden turned in his $200K salary and awesome TSP benefits for a permanent vacation in Moscow. Definitely not the best decision for career advancement, but the man deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Worst decision in general? Eh. I think it would be a little too blatant to remove an FBI Director for opening an investigation into a Democratic candidate/president-elect, wouldn't you?

The race is tightening. 538 shows Trump at 30%, which is a nearly 10% jump from three days ago.
There's little more to say than what has already been said in this thread. So... VOTE. GO. OUT. AND. VOTE. Vote for President. Vote for Senate. Vote for Congress. Vote for every single candidate on the list. Do your research on every candidate. But most importantly, vote. This is the most important election in our lives...if we're lucky. If you want to vote for a third-party, I can't really understand why, but that doesn't matter. Vote anyway. The down-ballot matters, just as much. But do consider the Presidential vote very carefully. Otherwise lifelong red states might well become blue. Even Indiana could flip if enough people hate Mike Pence sufficiently. And otherwise blue states could easily go Trump. Your vote matters. So for fuck's sake...go vote.

The investigation was not opened, it in fact had never been closed.
What he did was stir up the election 10 days before Election Day, which is a big no-no for the FBI. He obviously only wanted to keep Congress informed (although it turns out that the FBI had these emails for weeks before he decided to tell Congress), but he has now painted the FBI as an organization that will get its hands dirty in the name of politics, which is something that the FBI has tried to stay away from as much as possible. Clinton isn't even directly implicated in these emails, but they come under the wider sphere of the investigation. Most, if not all of the onus in this investigation, is on Clinton's aide for potential mishandling of information, but because Comey decided to give this information when he did, it now seems like he knows something and is actively trying to keep Clinton elected.

Clearly the main reason to vote for Hillary is so that when she gets impeached and removed, Tim Kaine can be President!
