As for the second question: since the Pokémon will be distributed as evenly as possible, it seems kind of dumb for everyone to go "oh, I don't want this Mon, gimme another one!". If it's about you wanting a specific Pokémon, there's already means to get one. The element of surprise is part of this event and calling dibs etc. doesn't really go with that.

Let's compare this to Christmas: would you receive a gift from someone and then immediately say "I don't want this, give me something else"?

This is going to sound cheesy, but every Pokémon is special, they shouldn't be treated like plastic cups you toss away after you've used them. Likelyhoods can be calculated, but like in the Safari Zone in the games, there's no absolute guarantee that during a single visit you'll get exactly the Mon you want.

Everyone has an equal chance at all of the Pokémon on the list, just like everyone has an equal chance at winning at the Casino. That's the gist of it.

And it's funny to see someone ask about what is essentially "can I be picky?" when taking part by donation. (Not saying you're going to do that, but the irony is incredible.)

EDIT: There is also the problem of "how about when someone's Pokémon isn't caught, will we take away the one this person caught to keep the balance even?". You can probably guess how sour a mood things like that would create for what I'd like to be a happy and exciting event.

Well that answers my question. Was just interested how the shuffling was taking place. I'm not going to be picky about whatever I come across. Similar to MM, even though I have favourites that I'd obviously want, I also really want to use Pokémon I almost never chose. I might start developing new favourites that way and broaden my horizon.
So sorry if I came across as picky, but I'm slightly too excited about this event not to want to know little details in rules.

Oh, but just because I'm not going to be picky about what I find doesn't mean my character will. This has now inspired me to RP my character in kicking up a fuss about what he gets.

I'm going to change my "Maybe" to a "No". I don't want to stop anyone else from having fun and this is just my opinion, but this just feels like a glorified way of throwing everyone's undesirable egg hatches into a randomiser and handing them back out again. The fact that this wasn't Mod-approved and the cable club has to be used at the end of this event makes the whole RPing aspect feel a bit pointless.

You give way, way too much of a self-restricting shit about what is "official" and what is not.

1. You are locking yourself out of a whole lot of fun in life with that mentality. You can do it if you want, but ...

2. Isn't that sort of strange then that you even play FB at all? FB which is an unofficial Pokémon experience run by fans for fans?

3. This little fan-run operation is clearly filling a void that so desperately needed filling that several players said "Screw it " and quit waiting around for the staff to "officially" fill that void.

I do not believe it is in the best interests of either the FB staff or the FB community as a whole to quash this fan-run event. If you personally think the idea unappealing, then don't participate. I haven't decided whether I will or not, in part because I have doubts as to whether one amateur can handle an undertaking of such magnitude as it quickly escalated into. But that doesn't mean I think she shouldn't try. And certainly not because she failed to formally ask for permission first.

Oh, I just noticed this! Thing is, I'd like to pick an egg up tomorrow for keeps to celebrate my first day of uni. That would mean the earliest I could hatch another egg would be April the eighth, but if that's fine I'd love to participate! I have an enigma free, so if I can join I'd be tossing in another one of those. If it's too late, oh well. Maybe I could do some spriting at the end for anyone who'd like to take their new friend to the boutique or something, add to the spirit of generosity :3

Are you absolutely sure it's when you get to hatch the Egg or when you get to pick it up? (Yours truly has mixed up those two things, so it's not meant to be insulting or anything.) I'm starting to think of the deadline for submissions and April 8th is probably the most I can stretch it.

One week after is the 8th for hatchings.

Alright, given that I have no plans whatsoever to get rid of the Gible I've just hatched, just a heads up that my Mystery Egg will not be my entry fee. I intend to pick up a Poison Egg when I'm next due- I have almost all Poison-types anyway, so odds are I'll hatch something I'm not after, and thus, that shall very likely be my entry fee.

After much debating if I should participate or not, graduate research and stuff, I now have decided that I do want to join. Today was the official start of the research and the people I work with are actually really nice and helpful, not to mention flexible, so the doubts I had considering time are gone.

If someone only would be so nice to help me get a hatchling than that would be much appreciated as I have no Egg House access myself

Ah, I see. Absolutely no problem with me getting knocked off, kaisap, if you feel the need. I hope I haven't been giving the impression of trying to game the system; I was wondering if I might be permitted to join in the fun.
