Real-Live Pokémon

No matter how many times I take a look at this picture, it gets me every time. I have this surge of pleasure at seeing something so familiar from a fictional world in what is unmistakably, and most importantly acceptably, a real-life rendition. The fur. The bone. The little claws. Not for one second do we doubt, "That is a real animal underneath that bony skull; even if the image has been shopped [as surely it must have been] to have a skull atop that critter, and even if the skull itself has been doctored to perfectly mimic the skull of a Cubone, still ... that animal is real. And because it looks just like a Cubone, I guess we can say, 'This is what Cubone might look like if they were real.'"

Indeed, the marmot is a perfect selection for a real-life Cubone, for Cubone is said to be a ground-type Pokemon, and what better creature than one which lives in tunnels underground? tunnels created by the creature's own two hands? Yes, I do agree that the artwork for Cubone feels dinosaur-inspired, but a marmot is by no means a bad substitution; certainly it feels much more real than any CG dinosaur would.

Still, I have not seen that many "real-life Pokémon" photoshops, and certainly none as impressive as this one. What about you? Post your own best real-life Pokémon pictures here!

Uh, do we really need a thread about this? xD You could just talk about it in the TO, yanno..

And I dunno about real life pokemon pics... o-o theres this one website that you can find off google, and I've seen all those pics tons of times including that cubone pic, but I honestly don't think they're that special. xD Just good art, that's all.

I've been to the website that Gary's talking about. It has all kinds of "real life pokemon" art. Some better than others.

Yeah. Not asking for that website. >_> I said good images, not any images. Yeah, he's made some good (such as the one I started this thread with), but he's also made some laughably bad abominations like Togepi from Ursine Hell.

I'd seen that one a while back somewhere. Didn't bother me too badly, but I can sympathize with you thanks to Arnold's Hellraiser-Koffing.

I find this artist rather fascinating. Though she isn't depicting them as realistic as that Cubone, they're still rather life-like.

Yeah, she's really good with anatomy and such.

Founds her pictures in both realistic anatomy and the pokemon's original visual design.
