As for shipping, I strongly support a few select (and unlikely) pairings, but otherwise I try to steer clear of battleships. Sometimes I enjoy watching the action from afar though.

We have a few artists here actually, but each one is shyer than the last. If they're down for an artists area then I wouldn't mind remaking it.

Gold was the first non-educational game I ever owned for myself. I loved that game, but I could never get into Blackthorn Gym. I guess I was too young to remember or know what I had to do. I used to dream about what the inside was like... xD I always thought that is was a poison-typed gym for some reason, and the inside was covered with enormous thorny vines.
For some reason none of my friends really owned Pokemon games. My brother had long since lost his Red, and now he owned Crystal. I never thought to ask him for help, though, or he just didn't think of helping me. Honestly, I never met more than 2 close friends who played Pokemon until about now. I'm in middle school, and all those friends are in high school. Our school is a little backwards. Several of the little kids who should be the ones that like Pokemon absolutely hate it, calling it a babies game and talk about Black Ops all day. Ugh.

I got Red and Blue at the same time since I was going to be riding along in a multi-day road trip, but I played Blue first. Good times, good times.

Red was my first! Got it along with my first handheld, a GBC on christmas '98 iirc. Some say I was 17 at the time which would've made me "to old" for it even when it was new. But I'm pretty sure I am and always was 5 >_> Still playing PKMN to this day!

Yellow was my first game, and got it with the limited edition/special gameboy color in Christmas of... '99? I honestly think it's how I learned to read, and most of the pokemon I had then were some of my favorites (Jynx, Mr. Mime, Venomoth, Nidoqueen, and a few others) though the main thing I remember is getting lost in Blaine's Gym and Silph Co.
A few years later I got Gold and Silver for one of my birthdays, and they're the first games I actually got through without having to bug my brother about where to go and who to battle. Last edited by Ethereal; 03-01-2011 at 09:44 AM. |

I still have my Pokemon Stadium game. I remember going to all the game stores every day for like 2 weeks waiting for it to come out. So much time spent playing that game. |

Red for me.
...I can't remember much of my team, though. Unlike in Gold, where I had an underleveled Typholsion, and an overleveled Togetic and Umbreon. Oh, god, Pokemon Stadium? I still have my N64, Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, Pokemon Snap... I was famous back in the day for being undefeatable at Run Ratatta Run- I played on the hardest difficulty setting for practice. Ah, those were the days. |

I remember my brother and I used to rent Stadium long before we got our copies of Gold and Silver. We'd pretty much just sit there and play mini-games. Sushi-Go-Round was my favorite from the first version, and Topsy-Turvy/Furret's Frolic from the second one.
I could never beat my brother at either of the "Tap A to charge" games though. He is the king of button-mashing. Whenever the computer selected one of those games I'd just put the controller down and either watch or go do something else. On the topic of N64 games, who here remembers "Hey You, Pikachu"?

I do, and I'm sure Lindsay does as well. I never got it, though. And I never knew this until just now :

Blue for me. Got it after a kid at my school was playing a US version of Red, and it looked pretty damn cool.
God, I was like 11 then ;;

I was a late joiner to Pokemon, started off with Ruby. It was kickass, I still remember trying to catch a Lugia with an old rod off of Dewford Town :p Good times, good times.
I got Silver/Yellow afterward.

I remember my brother and I discovered that simply saying "throw it" elicited the correct response 90% of the time, so that's all we'd say into the microphone. And it worked. ^^ I also miss Pokémon Snap. Once I got a perfect score on a Dragonite photo, which I was really proud of. Too bad it was a rental game. ;-; Wish they'd do a remake with the newer generations. Pokémon had some really innovative console games, why don't they try out new genres anymore instead of rehashing the same handheld formula?

Blue, Red, Silver, Gold, TCG. In that order, all from 2001-2002.

They have: Mystery Dungeon, Rumble, PokePark, Ranger. The problem is, save for the Mystery Dungeon games, none of them have been particularly outstanding. Sure, some of them are fun, but they're not a must-have part of the series. I'm hoping this Gen actually brings about some solid games aside from the main series, but it'll be a while. It seems like GameFreaks is busy promoting the just-barely-out Gen V before they start working on a new game or series. I don't expect a Gen V Colo/XD/PBR until at least the end of next year, and that's like the absolute minimum as far as console games go. |

I'd take one good main console main series Pokemon game over three Mystery Dungeons any day. And I've loved the charming Mystery Dungeon series. But I'd just like for GameFreak to quit being trolly wankers and to finally give the fanbase what they've dreamed of since the 1990s. Is it really that much to ask? Hand the reins over to Genius Sonority if you guys are that goddamn opposed to making a 3D Pokemon game. They did a pretty good job as a first effort with Pokemon Colosseum. You guys write the story and provide Genius Sonority with access to your source code, you let them code the visuals, and everyone's happy.
