King Ghidorah- You were outnumbered and knew you had to call on the aid of another Pokemon if you were going to stand a chance. The Salandit had rallied 4 additional Pokemon to its side, your Onix possessed a type advantage against all five Pokemon but it likely wouldn't be enough. You make a risky choice, hoping your brave choice would pay off in the long run. You release your Sneasel from its Pokeball, the Dark type grins as it brandishes its sharp claws. At the sight of its ally, Onix lets out a piercing screech to hopefully cut down the defences of the opposing Pokemon. The Zubat however are prepared for this and drown out Onix's screech with three of their own, overpowering Onix's and lowering the defence of both the rock snake and sharp claw Pokemon. Now physically exposed, Sneasel is left wide open to an attack from the Geodude. The opposing Rock type sends a barrage of Rocks Sliding across the ground, bombarding Sneasel who takes a staggering super effective hit. The Ice type was already looking battered, but the grin on its face showed it wasn't about to give up. Empowered by the last hit, the Sneasel thrusts its hands forward, causing a wave of snow to wash over the Geodude. The Rock Pokemon is buried beneath the avalanche, for now it looked to be defeated. Onix was busy concentrating on the Zubat, who had started to assault the uch larger Pokemon with spinning blades of wind. While Onix resisted the attacks, her lowered defence was making her vulnerable to the constant assault. Working quickly she begins to fire rocks at the Zubat, the large boulders knock the Flying types from the air, one by one. The Zubats are soon dealt with and for a moment you think that all you have to deal with now is the Salandit....

The pile of snow that had buried the Geodude begins to glow. Was it about to exploded? The reality was much worse as something began to grow inside the snowy deposit, the newly evolved Graveler let out a cry as it crawled free. You can see the Salandit snickering in delight. A poisonous gas begins to leak from its mouth, the cloud of noxious fumes begins to flood through the tunnel towards you. Not only did you now have to deal with the Graveler, you had to watch out for the poison!

Sandaa- Upon being confronted by the two Mega Evolved Psychic types, you decided to go with two Pokemon of the same type as well. Ramoth the Charizard and Typhu the Typhlosion are welcomed onto the arena, the two Fire types would likely complement each other in this fight.

Your opponents seem happy for you to make the first move and Ramoth does just that, letting out a billow of black smoke that quickly shrouds your side of the arena. The downside of this is you can't really see the Mega Gallade or Gardevoir any more, which could be a problem. A shining orb is fired out of the smoke and into the sky where is bursts it a stunning display. You feel the sunlight intensify, it appears Typhu has successfully pulled off a Sunny Day. Your plan was working flawlessly for now, but surely these final opponents wouldn't be push overs? You feel sharp twang of pain in your temple as voices begin to talk in your head.

"A strong mind doesn't need eyes to see"

It is then that you realise you've grossly underestimated the abilities of the opposing Psychic types. You see a glow through the smoke before a seemingly endless barrage of Rocks come Sliding across the arena, hammering Typhu. Ramoth thankfully takes to the air in time to avoid most of the rocks, although a few pelt her as she ascends. With her new aerial view of the situation, Ramoth can clearly see what has occurred. The Gardevoir seems to have been giving the Gallade a Helping Hand, allowing it to unleash a powerful widespread Rock Slide.

Opting for a wide spread move of her own, Ramoth emits a sweltering wave of heat, which is even more powerful considering her ability has been activated by the Sunny Day. The Mega Pokemon are force to endure the attack, but they were now wise to your intentions to target them as a pair. As Typhu gathers up energy, the Gallade prepares itself, having sensed the sudden surge in energy. As the Typhlosion lets out a massive eruption of flame, the Gallade crosses its arms, creating a wide shield of energy. The flames slam into the shield but the Gallade effectively guards itself and the Gardevoir from what would have been a tremendous hit. As the Gallade drops its guard, the Gardevoir unleashes a powerful Psychic wave, pushing back the Smokescreen and slamming Typhu with another powerful hit. The Johto starter found himself being targeted early, he wasn't about to give in but he was clearly the most damaged so far.

Typhu seems to be shaking with anger as he smashes his feet into the arena, causing an earthquake to shake through the stone. The Psychic types are shaken by the attack, the hit is hard but they retain their composure. As Ramoth sets up a tailwind to boost your sides speed, the pair of Psychic types look to bolster than stats as well. The Gardevoir creates a thin screen of light while the Gallade constructs a sturdier, reflective screen, the techniques ensure that it would be even harder to break them.

While things hadn't exactly gone to plan, there was another issue that would prove this battle to be harder than those before it. It appeared the Mega Pokemon were receiving their orders telepathically, making it almost impossible for you to counter them. Typhu looked to you for reassurance, he knew you'd think of a way to outsmart your opponents.

Biggggg5: You send out your electric floating eel, Geddy the Tynamo, to your side. Promptly Geddy starts to use thunderbolt on the fans themselves. At first it seemed like nothing happened, until you start to see smoke coming from the uppermost fan. Geddy stops using it, obviously somewhat drained from the massive electrical attack. The top fan continues to smoke more and more, you can hear metal scraping against metal until it blows open, the blade flies across embedding itself into the cave wall next to the waterfall. The rest of the fan's pieces collapses into the abyss below. It constantly hits the tunnel walls on its way down, taking twenty seconds before it hits the bottom with a quiet splash. There are still two more fans, but they are below the waterfall area, meaning that they should not pose any problem to gather the key, so long as someone flew high enough.

However, behind where the fan was shows a Noibat that was enjoying the breeze it was receiving from it. The Dragon Pokemon shakes itself awake and swoops down from its perch, obviously angry. It starts flitting about using its flight speed to quickly move from side to side, so as to avoid any rubble that was situated above the fan. It glares at you and your two Pokemon before it uses Supersonic on Geddy, the loud sound causes Geddy to become disoriented.

The Noibat starts to flap its wings towards you, unleashing a Gust, to blow you out of the abyss area and out of its home, so it can enjoy a breeze in peace. Needless to say, this thing is an obstacle ready to strike and keep you from the key. What will you do?

With a deep breath, Geddy begins charging electricity into the fans, with a strong thunderbolt disproportionate to the size and typical moveset for the species the fan begins to smoke and Geddy breaks off the attack panting somewhat. "Heh, guess they spent all their money on the door and not on sturdier fans." Alucard smirks from his place on Big's shoulder. Big nods. "Thought they might, this is Team Rocket after all." He rolls his eyes. "Now can one of you go gra-" He is cut off by a loud supersonic sound from the Noibat whose home the trio had just disturbed. "Whoops." Big says sheepishly as he looks to check on Geddy. The small eel pokemon is floating a little wobbily through the air and making weird sounds with his mouth. "Well he looks... inspired is one word for it." Alucard teases. "Oh just get in there." Big points forward looking at his poison type. "Bat on bat action. Kinky." The Zubat takes off and heads toward the Noibat. Big wracks his brain to what he knows about the new opponent. Alright, well it's a dragon and flying type so Geddy's electric moves won't have any extra effect. He thinks to himself. But it doesn't learn any dragon moves naturally until it evolves so we shouldn't have to worry about that at least. Maybe we can try to get the key without much conflict, the big wrench is Geddy being confused though. "Alright, Alucard. Start off by seeing if you can land a hypnosis. Then if it goes to sleep go for the key, but if it doesn't defend yourself with a sludge bomb." "As you command bossman." The Zubat veers toward the other bat and in a droning voice says: "White Chicks was amazing." Big rolls his eyes and turns to Geddy. "Ok Geddy you gotta try and concentrate! See if you can hit the Noibat with-" He pauses for a second and reconsiders the consequences if Alucard was hit with Thunder Wave. "-a tackle attack!" He calls out to the Geddy who has gone on to muttering something about "assuming control" of some kind of solar federation.

”Ah, shit,” Hugo sighed.

Hugo was really being put through the ringer. While he’d taken care of the Zubat and still had done a good deal of damage to the Geodude, the evolution to Graveler was unexpected and a whole new problem. Combined with the Salandit, things were looking bleak. The Zubat’s screech put Onix and Sneasel in a weakened state, but Hugo knew that if we wanted to take the opposing Pokemon out, he was going to have to stay the course with his strategy. And quickly, or else they were all going to be poisoned.

He looked to Onix and Sneasel. They both panted with exhaustion, looking battered and beaten.

“It’s not over yet,” he explained to them, not sure if he was trying to convince them or him. “We need to knock them down a stage and then hit them where it hurts.” He pondered. “Onix, try Screech again on Salandit, and Sneasel, use Leer on Graveler. Then Onix I want you to blast the Salandit with Rock Throw! And do it as fast as you can.” He noticed the cloud of gas slowly filling the cavern. “We’re running out of time.”

He looked to Sneasel. The Sharp Claw Pokemon was breathing laboriously but Hugo could still see the fire in his eyes.

“Sneasel, I want you to muster as much energy as you can. Confuse Graveler. Make it lose track of where you are. Climb as high up the wall as you can and then drop down with Brick Break onto Graveler. But be careful.” Because this may be our only shot, he thought to himself.

"Innnnkay~" Scylla cried out as she propelled herself forward, diving in and out of the emerald-colored bushes and hedges like a child, free from worry. Trailing behind the Inkay was a moderately short woman, some might say between 5'3" and 5'4" with long blond hair that came around the small of her back. She wore a black and crimson shoulder-less dress that was attached around her neck with black lace. The outside layer was black with gold crisscross embellishments and the inner layer, which could be seen in the folds and sleeves of her dress was a beautiful deep crimson color. She had an open umbrella over her shoulder, protecting her neck, face, and shoulders from the sun, which would surely burn such a maiden's fair skin. It was similar colored, black on the outside and crimson on the inside. As some on the internet might say: the epitome of the goth GF.

"Scylla, do wait up. It's tiring having to chase after you, even while the trees of the grove provide some shade from that relentless sun." Scylla, her Inkay, didn't pay any attention at her words and continued to hurdle ahead, clearly wanting to explore the grove more than she wanted to remain shackled by her trainer's side. The trainer sighed. "You can be such a bother Scylla. The minute you get out of my sight you're going to do something you aren't supposed to." The trainer hurried ahead, keeping poise and composure as she followed behind her Inkay. Scylla appeared distracted and her trainer was finally able to catch up to her.

"Scylla, please do not disobey me again. I had prepared your favorite, lutefisk, but if you're going to continue acting like this it might have to wait for another day." Scylla looked heartbroken at the thought of its favorite meal, and quickly went under the umbrella. "Good girl, Scylla. Now, let's rehearse what we're going to do once we go to a noble's house. Remember, absolutely no going after the face. We have to show them respect. A simple bow will do from you." Scylla looked as if she was completely disinterested in the conversation. She had already heard this, and decided she was absolutely going to ignore it. These people couldn't be more special than other people, regardless of the size of the house they lived in, and she just wanted to have a little fun.

You start your adventure in the Crystal Grove one of the few somewhat nice areas of the Bedlam Ridge, that is if you don't count the probably corrupt people rich enough to live here and leave the rest of the city to the gangs without using their considerable resources to help. But that's not what you are here for. You are for a pleasant walk with your mischievous little Inkay. The little gal is exploring out ahead to your exasperation. You attempt to call her back and reel in her behavior with promises of lutefisk, an apparent favorite meal, and it seems somewhat successful. Your Inkay returns to your side under your umbrella though with obvious plans to continue to cause trouble as soon as she can get away with it. You move further into the grove, admiring the plant life, searching for a nice place to enjoy your picnic or perhaps find some other socialites to converse with. There a few wild forest pokemon among the trees as well. Perhaps getting one of those to join your party would be worth your time. But before you get much further you encounter a young shy looking girl, with pretty long black hair and a white dress fitting of the neighborhood. She looks probably no older than 6. She approaches you with a luxury ball, large in her small hands. "E-excuse me? W-would you mind battling with me? Your Inkay looks about as strong as my Cutie. And Papa said she needs the exercise. And you seem nice." She looks up at you with damn near anime watering eyes. What will you do?

The woman looked at the young girl, and sighed. She couldn't battle a little girl like this. She had a soul after all...somewhere, hidden deep in her being. She wouldn't do anything half-assed, and she didn't like to fight fair with anyone. She probably would have traumatized the poor girl, who was clearly about as confident and experience with battling as her Inkay. Maybe she might be able to find someone else help her, but definitely not someone who could only be reasonably defined in battle as a "demon". "I'm sorry little girl, but in truth, my Inkay really does not like to battle. It's very shy and will probably just get scared and hide," Scylla looked a little offended at the comment. "Plus I'm not a very nice woman, even though I don't want to do anything to make you cry. If you still want to battle with a cruel women with myself though, I'll take you up on the offer." She had kind of hoped she could get the point across as tactfully as possible.

"Let's go, Scylla." She said to the Inkay, causing her to zoom ahead of her trainer once again. She hoped that the little girl wasn't going to end up following her, and went off in a different direction. Maybe catching a new Pokemon, who who would actually have some confidence in battle, would not be a bad idea. But then there was the idea of buddying up with one of the rich, corrupt people who lived in the mansions; she could definitely try and manipulate them into giving her what she wanted. Oh all the opportunities she had in front of her, if only she could pick the most tantalizing one out of the bunch. Maybe should just wait...? "Scylla, let's continue towards the mansions. I'm sure something will come up for us to take advantage of." The Inkay cooed as she zipped forward once again. She felt a little relieved at not having to battle, even though the Inkay did look behind her to see if the little girl was still following.

King Ghidorah- With things continuing to get worse and a cloud of poisonous gas closing in, you knew you had to act quickly. Working together, Onix lets out another Screech at the Salandit while Sneasel leers at the newly evolved Graveler. Both of their defences drop, the Zubat no longer present to cut out Onix's Screech. Working quickly to take advantage of the defense drop, Onix fires off another large boulder, the rock smashes into the Salandit, knocking it unconscious. Despite the source of the poison gas being cut off, the cloud still continues to waft towards you.

Graveler begins blasting rocks at Sneasel, but the Dark type is fast on its feet and deftly darts away from the incoming projectiles. The Graveler quickly losses sight of the Sneasel, but Sneasel still has eyes on the Graveler as it uses its sharp claws to scale the tunnel. Dropping from the ceiling, the Graveler has no way of defending itself as Sneasel deliver's a Brick Breaking blow to the top of its head. It groans as it rolls onto its back, unconscious and no longer a threat.

It is too soon to celebrate however, as the gas cloud has no reached you. Putting itself in the path of the gas, the giant onix inhales the poisonous fumes, saving you and Sneasel from breathing them in. Unfortunately this leaves the Rock Snake poisoned, but better her than you right?

Onix gained 3 levels
Sneasel gained 2 levels

The last Salandit had continued down the tunnel with the wheelbarrow, it was surely close to its goal by now.

The last Salandit had continued down the tunnel with the wheelbarrow, it was surely close to its goal by now.
Onix heaved and shuddered, the poisonous gas coursing through her rocky core. Her eyes began to yellow and the stone segments of her body discolored. She tried to shake it off as if it were nothing, but she began to lightly convulse. She was struggling and Hugo knew if he didn’t do something, he might lose her. He looked to Sneasel who responded with an anxious look, which Hugo took to mean that there wasn’t much time left.

Hugo threw his backpack on the cave floor and handed the torch to Sneasel. The Ice type shied away from the flame. “Oh just take it for a second,” Hugo pleaded. “It’s not going to hurt you.” Apprehensively, Sneasel took the torch in his claws, holding it as far away from himself as possible.

Hugo rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the backpack. “I know it has to be in here,” he muttered to himself as he rummaged through the bag. “I just saw it not long ago.” Onix let out a loud groan that echoed through the cavern, startling Hugo and Sneasel, who responded in turn with a “hurry up” yelp to his trainer. “I’m going as fast as I can!” Hugo growled in return. “FOUND IT!”

Hugo pulled his hand from the bag, holding a small, pink, heart-shaped berry in his palm. A Pecha Berry. It was soft, clearly having been in Hugo’s possession for quite some time. He lifted the berry to his nose and sniffed. “Well, it smells fine. I’m sure it’s fine, right?” Sneasel shrugged, nearly dropping the torch, fortunately using his cat-like reflexes to catch the torch in his other hand. “It’s going to have to do. We don’t really have much choice.”

Onix, meanwhile, had rested her massive head on the cavern floor, her eyes closed, her breathing slow and laborious. Hugo lightly placed his hand on her forehead, trying to comfort her. “Onix, I need you to eat this. I know it hurts now, but this will take care of the poison.” The Rock Snake’s eyes opened slightly, and Hugo placed the small berry into her powerful jaws. She chewed lightly, but Hugo could see the berry’s juices spill out. The change was noticeable almost instantly. The whites of Onix’ eyes returned to their normal color and her breathing became increasingly less strained and more powerful. With a powerful roar, Onix told Hugo that his plan had been a success.

“I guess this means you’re good to go after the last Salandit?” Hugo asked. Onix pounded it’s tail against the ground in confirmation. “Good. Because we’re going to stop it. And we’re going to catch it. And then we’re going to get what’s in the wheelbarrow. Sneasel, my torch please.”

Hugo took the torch from Sneasel’s hand, and in the same motion, slipped a necklace over his head. On the chain hung a Razor Claw. Sneasel looked at Hugo with surprise, touching his paw to the Razor Claw. “You know what that is?” Hugo asked Sneasel, who responded with a nod. “And you know what will happen if you level up with that around your neck?”

Sneasel grinned, running his sharp claws together. Sneasel would evolve into Weavile. He knew this and was ready for it. Hugo smiled in return.

“Alright. Let’s do the damn thing.”

I was hoping more people would reply, and then I got sick, but here I am!
Rotom, your most recent update is here. ES and PG, your most recent updates are here.

Crimson Sanctum

[ Balmund ]

Without hesitation, you offer to go above and beyond the call of duty -- for a price. Pepper looks at Stephen, and then James, as if seeking their opinion. Stephen just scowls at her, though the prospect of a free Pokemon has managed to capture James' attention, and he's finally looked up for his PokeGear, brows arched in intrigue. Pepper shrugs. The math checks out -- three is certainly more than one.

"Okay," she relents, easily. You've made some good points about not wanting to be caught with the Charmander, and besides that, there's way cooler Pokemon out there, in her opinion. "You can have it. You have to catch us all Pokemon first, though! All three of us. And I know exactly what I want."

"You said we could catch the one by the creek, first," Stephen reminds, still pouting. Pepper rolls her eyes.

"Yeah, whatever," she acknowledges, albeit dismissively. "Let's go, then."

With that, she turns and begins walking, in the opposite direction from the massive church-turned-headquarters that loom over the suburb. Stephen follows after her, and James lags a few steps behind him, once again engrossed in his PokeGear. Being much taller, it's easy to look over his shoulder; it appears he's looking something up.

You walk for several blocks, Pepper going on about how cool it was to screw over Topher and how awesome it's going to be to have a Pokemon, occasionally tossing out comments about how much better than Maggie Stephen's future companion will be, trying to stave of the clearly evident meltdown that is so far only restrained by the promise of his own critter. Ideally, you won't botch this mission; after the bad day he's had Stephen is liable to go crying to his parents if things don't start looking up for him.

As you put a little distance between yourself and the Sanctum, the houses start becoming a little less nice. They're still very much middle-class, but on the lower end of the socioeconomic tier, to be certain. Eventually, Pepper takes you down an alley, and you spend a while navigating a maze of dirt and gravel paths in the spaces between the blocks. The number of houses thins, and finally you come out on the other side; standing in a small field of grass, you can see a lightly wooded area in the near distance. Between you and the tree line runs what you realize must be the 'creek' -- it's actually a deep, concrete-lined ditch meant to catch rainwater, spillover, and other run-off. There's about two and a half feet of water in the bottom of the drain, flowing slowly towards its destination. It's just enough of a current to prevent stagnation, but not by much, and the water smells unpleasant; like a mixture of algae, dirt, hot and wet concrete, and just a hint of motor oil. Still, it's mostly clear, and as the four of you walk to the edge, you can see life stirring. There's a couple of Surskit skimming the surface of the water which pay no attention to you, and a Ducklet who begins swimming away from you. On the opposite side of the ditch, roughly half a dozen Pidgey forage in the grass and underbrush, casting wary looks at you now and then. The scrunched up and searching look on Stephen's face tells you that none of these are the Pokemon he wants, however.

"I don't see it," he laments, once again looking on the verge of tears. It looks like he's about to start crying again, having reached the limits of his pre-adolescent coping skills, but James had evidently decided to finally be useful, speaking up before his friend has a chance to break down.

"Wishipedia says they like shade," he notes. He holds up the Pokegear for you to see, but the screen is too small and you're too far away to read any of it. Pepper narrows her eyes, scanning the drain for as far as she can see in both directions.

"The only shade around here for a lot of blocks is... there!" She muses, before throwing her hand out excitedly to point to a culvert several yards away. The corrugated metal tube has about a three foot diameter and runs underneath a somewhat poorly paved road, which also appears to be the only point across the 'creek' that doesn't involve wading through the storm water. Pepper takes off into a sprint, and the boys follow; you follow too, albeit at your own pace. All three of them are panting lightly by the time everyone reaches the point where the street and the drain intersect.

"You think it's in there?" Stephen gasps, hunched over slightly with his hands on his knees.

"Probably," Pepper says, though she gives no reason why this might be the case.

"Unless it's not here anymore," James hums, thoughtfully. Pepper elbows him, giving him a dirty look that even you can read as meaning shut your mouth.

"So... do we go down there?" Stephen asks, uncertainly. He looks at Pepper, who looks at you, and soon all three pairs of eyes are staring at you, expecting you to figure this out. The sides of the ditch are fairly steep, sitting at roughly 60 degrees (or 120 degrees, depending on how you want to measure) from the bottom of the ditch. It's maybe six feet down the side to the top of the water, plus the depth of the run-off itself. You could probably descend safely down the side if you're careful, although whether or not you really want to go slogging through the water is another question entirely. You did promise them Pokemon, though, and the kids seem pretty convinced that the one Stephen wants is hiding within the culvert.

What will you do?

Not wanting to scar the little girl, you decide to spare her from your wrathful battling style. You let her down as easily as you possibly can, hoping to get across that battling would be a bad idea. The girl seems disappointed and nods and begins to slowly walk in the opposite direction as you. The girl somewhat quickly ends up out of sight and you come upon a more gardeny or park area. Whether you want to continue toward a noble, find a wild pokemon, or come across a nice place for a picnic, this seems the best direction to head in. You pass through a gateway where it displays the name of the park where you see the name of it carved out of wood: Julia's Garden. You aren't sure who Julia is but pass through the gate unremarkably into the garden which, at first, doesn't seem much different than the sidewalk you had been previously traveling along. However, so gradually you don't notice at first, you realize that your surroundings have turned from many large buildings with crystals and trees interspersed between to a carefully designed blend of beautiful large trees and huge grown crystals, enough to block out the idea that you are still in the city of Bedlam Ridge. You deduct that this place must be maintained and protected by someone rich enough to put in the effort in this kind of city. A few minutes into the journey you suddenly hear a cry off from the path. You can't be 100% sure but you think the voice sounds similar to that girl you encountered from before, but that seems impossible because the voice came from somewhat ahead of you. Scylla seems worried about the voice as well. What will you do?
