Rainbow Road
Pest: Look back here.

Space Path
pengyzu: Look back here.

KratosAurion: Look back here.

Rose Arch
Shuckle: Look back here.

Stardust Fields
kaisap112: Your Pokémon nod as they jump once again towards the Dustox from two directions, slamming into the Dustox with another double Tackle, taking a nice bit of health away from the Dustox. The Dustox releases a line of string towards Kitty first, and tangles her slightly with it, and then turns towards Elmira, shooting another String Shot towards her. Both cats struggle the string that is now around their body, but it seems to be fruitless for now, as their speed is slightly reduced while they are tangled by it. The Dustox loses its flight for a second but recovers before hitting the ground after both felines jump towards it again, and hit it with another double Tackle from both directions. It begins to flap its wings rapidly again, sending strong winds towards the two cats, taking health away as the winds produced by the Gust fade. None of the Pokémon seem to be ready to give up yet.

Jenny behind you seems to be doing alright as well, with her Growlithe attacking the Ninjask with a Flamethrower as you take a glance at their battle.

What will you do now?

Cloud Forest
MarbleZone: Look back here.

Nagasaki: Look back here.

Thrain: Look back here.

ChaoticHell83: Gaius acknowledges your commands for the round and rushes towards the Lotad, hitting it with Quick Attack, taking a bit of health away as the Lotad rolls back a few feet. Getting up from the hit, Lotad once again releases a stream of water from its mouth towards Gaius, hitting him square on in the chest. He tries to cover himself with his claws though they do next to nothing as the Water Gun hits him. After the bath Scyther rushes once again towards Lotad, slamming into it once again after trying a zig zag path to hit it with Quick Attack, taking a bit of health away from the Lotad. The Lotad once again begins to glow slightly, Absorbing the health and energy of Scyther a little, and taking less of that for its own. As Gaius rushes towards the Lotad once again, you notice that the Lotad seems somewhat prepared for the attack as it then dodges the Quick Attack barely at the last second. The Lotad smirks slightly as it then looks at Scyther, ready for the bug type to attack it once again.

What will you do?

There are various doors in this room with a Blissey sitting in the middle, who as soon as she sees you she jumps towards you, Jenni and Allon. "Blissey, Bliss, Bliss.." she mutters to herself as she examines Allon. "Give her the Vulpix's Pokéball as well, she'll have both of then healed in no time!" You then take the Pokéball and hand it over to Blissey, who puts Allon on a gurney and takes the Pokéball before rushing to a room with the number 3 on the door. "She's quite the healer, we don't know how we'd be able to help injured Pokémon without her. Anyway, you have an hour while your Pokémon are resting, would you like to rest, or go meet more Pokémon in the back? I'm gonna feed the Pokémon right now and then cook something to eat if you are interested in eating afterwards."

How will you respond?
Thanks.." she says, her cheeks becoming slightly rosier, she then turns towards the house, "Follow me to the infirmary!" The pair walk deeper into the house, with Rey eyeing things as they pass through the hallway. He gets to explore such a quaint shelter and he's pretty excited about what else is in for him. Though the sight of his beloved Pokemon battered and tired puts a dent in his happiness, he has high hopes that they'll be alright, especially since they're being cared for by this wonderful family.

"I wonder what it's like to have a family like this. Haha." he thinks as he opens his mouth letting out a yawn. "I guess I'm getting tired too. With all that battling, I can see why."

Finally they arrive at the clinic where Iggy and Allon can rest. Entering the room, various doors can be seen with a big pink Blissey stationed in the middle.

"I'm guessing those doors are where they'll be staying and that would be their nurse." he says as he waves with a tired smile. The Blissey jumps toward the duo and examines the patients. "Blissey, Bliss, Bliss.." she mutters to herself. "Give her the Vulpix's Pokéball as well, she'll have both of then healed in no time!"

"Okay. I hope he's not too much of a troublemaker." he says as he hands over the polished Pokeball. Blissey rushes into the door with the number 3 on it with the Pokeball in hand and a Magnemite on a gurney. "She's quite the healer, we don't know how we'd be able to help injured Pokémon without her."

"I can see how hard-working she is. You have a wonderful Pokemon for sure."

"Anyway, you have an hour while your Pokémon are resting, would you like to rest, or go meet more Pokémon in the back? I'm gonna feed the Pokémon right now and then cook something to eat if you are interested in eating afterwards."

"Oh. No matter how tired I am, I'm always perky when I get to see these wonderful critters. Let's go to the back then. Also, I can't wait to taste your cooking." he says with a wide grin.

Damn it! Caesar scolded himself inside his head, I was afraid of that happening. Well maybe now I can try and throw it off guard by powering up Gaius some more.

"I'm sorry, my friend! I should've know that would happen! Alright, shoot it a Leer, then Focus Energy again and end with a Quick Attack!

I'd forgotten about Leer. I should try implementing that into my strategy some more, particularly right before I attack to hopefully scare it and make it muck up it's dodge, if it tries it. The smirk on the lilypads face unnerved Caesar, 'causing him to get a bit annoyed and frustrated. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, it'll all work out in the end, as long as I perserve.

"Gaius! Don't let that lilypad get the best of you, keep focused and you'll show 'em who's boss!" Caesar called out, thinking that maybe his Scyther needed a bit of calming down and/or positive reinforcement.

A little positive reinforcement never hurt anyone he thought to himself, Plus I want Gaius to know he's making me proud out there.

The Fountain Garden: A small garden filled with fountains, waterfalls and clear lakes. Water pokemon love this little area and thrive to the point where you can't turn around without tripping over a Magikarp. Fishing is not allowed in this area as it is considered as cruelty towards the water pokemon.

Morg sighed contentedly as the sun shone warmly on her face. She closed her eyes and stretched out her legs, taking in the crisp air and melodic sounds of running water. It was nice to get out of the mansion for a while, and what better way to spend a vacation than the Cloud Garden? No more high-pressure counterespionage missions, no more surprise battles with spies in the middle of the night... yes, nothing but relaxation, warm breezes, and--

SPLASH!

Morg's daydreaming was interrupted sharply by a loud splash behind her, followed immediately by a cold, piercing shower of water. Morg turned around and laughed.

"Aha, there you are, Enchantress. I see you made some friends."

Three needlessly energetic Magikarp looked up excitedly from the edge of the pool. Their frantic splashes sent a refreshing cool mist across her face.

"I think we should get moving again, don't you?"

"Carp... carp..."

"Of course you can say goodbye!"

The three Magikarp giddily turned around and splashed one last time, each leaping higher than the last. Finally, Morg's prized Magikarp, Enchantress, unleashed a sudden Hydro Pump, which propelled her a great distance into the air before dissipating into a fine mist. Enchantress came careening down with a massive splash, drenching Morg once again.

"Showoff. Right, let's go!"

After waving goodbye to the other Magikarp, Morg and Enchantress turned and resumed their hike through the Fountain Garden. The two were an almost comical duo: Morg, the soaked yet energetic housemaid, and Enchantress, her Magikarp, bouncing along beside her.

"What'll we find next, I wonder? New friends? More battles? Maybe a chance to dry off?"

SPLASH!

Morg coughed as streams of cold water dripped off her hair and ran down her face.

"So much for that last one..."

He gets knocked to the side by the Rollout, and barely gets up before puffing up and spitting another stream of flames towards Koffing. The Flamethrower hits the rolling poison ball and slows it down quite a bit before stopping it completely. The Koffing tries to levitate, looking really hurt and panting quite hard before finally succumbing to the burn damage, falling to the floor KO'ed, with Blazer not being that far behind. Level Up for Torchic.

"You will pay for this defeat kid, mark my words!" Before you get a chance to react you hear a familiar voice behind you, "Nagasaki!" You turn and see Peter and Glameow running towards you with a group of water Pokémon consisting of Marill's, Psyduck's and others. "Look out!" Peter screams at you and Blazer, you turn and see a tree is about to flatten Blazer to the ground. Glameow runs at lightning speed and pushes the tired chick out of the way a second before they are both squished. With the tree blocking your way and view to the guy, you see that the Charizard was the one responsible for the tree almost crushing Blazer as it flies away with the guy and girl on its back. "We'll be back!" the girl says in a sing song voice as the Charizard flies above the fire, to the east.

"We'll talk about what happened later! We need to extinguish the fire first!" Peter says before instructing the water types to extinguish the flames, "All of you, use Water Gun on the fire!" All the water types release a Water Gun, attacking the flames, just as you see Glameow and Blazer come next to you after walking around the fallen tree. Just as you're about to check on your battle worn Pokémon you feel something pull your leg, which turns out to be Chikorita, who seems to be trying to get you to follow it. You look behind it and see another group of water Pokémon coming to help, which Peter also notices, "Great! More help! Nagasaki can you take those water Pokémon up to the northernmost part of the fire to stop it from spreading?" The Chikorita still seems to be calling for you to follow it to the south of where you are as it pulls your leg with its leaf once again, opposite of where Peter wants you to go help out...

What will you do?
"Huh? Are you telling me something?" Nagasaki noticed the Chikorita complaining about something. "No offense, Peter, but looks like this Chikorita is in dire need of help. It's reporting something opposite of your direction. Better check it out. It might be someone in danger. Glameow, replace my spot, please. Escort the water Pokemon to the north. Peter, I will lend one or two of the water Pokemon to put out the fire on our way. After my job on there I will follow Glameow for back up. Trust me on this." Nagasaki carried Blazer and hurried towards south. While on their way, Nagasaki said on Blazer, "If we are going to fight again, better get the Oran berry on my back and consume it. It can replenish your energy, and it's a great re-hydrating source!" Blazer smiled, and said, "You're still calm even in these situations. And still, you are on battle mode! Are you going to battle again or somewhat?" Nagasaki responded. "Better be ready. anything can attack us. We must stay alert. Chikorita, where is the problem?"

Dustox was served another dose of double-Tackle, but Dustox decided to slow down the two felines with String Shot. Kitty and Elmira were slowed down, but not enough for them to stop smacking Dustox with another double-Tackle. Noriko was starting to get worried. This battle was very taxing to her Pokémon, but they continued the battle regardless. She winced as Dustox hit them with another Gust.

Jenny, on the other hand, seemed to be doing just fine on her own. Growlithe was attacking Ninjask with Flamethrower, which seemed to be doing far more damage than Kitty and Elmira's attacks put together.

Noriko decided not to let Jenny's battle distract her any more. There were better times to be admiring other trainers' Pokémon. "Girls, don't give up! Kitty, use Bullet Seed so Elmira can Tackle Dustox to the ground! Then another double-Tackle!"

Steven chuckles, but with that said, Blissey starts the healing process, first by taking a look at him and then tending to the wounds and using Softboiled on him. 5 minutes later the pup barks happily, fully healed, though the Blissey looks quite tired. "Take a nice long rest Blissey, you deserve it." She smiles at you and Blaze before being returned to her Pokéball. "We should get going," he says, and you both start on your way to the Pokémon Center. There is little to report on your way, that is until Pyro and Blaze stop to look around, slightly alarmed at something. "What's wrong?" Steven asks. His answer comes within a second as three spiders circle around your group, walking down 3 trees, three Ariados. "Huh, they're back, and it looks like they brought a friend." Steven says casually. "I'll take care of two of the Ariados, you can take care of the last Ariados. Pyro, use Flamethrower on both of them, follow it up with a Flame Wheel!" The Quilava nods before engaging two of the Ariados, but the other Ariados drops in front of you and Blaze, ready to pounce on you both if you don't do something soon...

What will you do?

Steven nodded and gratefully accepted Eric's help, turning towards Hannah to instruct her to begin the healing process. A few Softboiled's later, Blaze began to look quite refreshed, barking in excitement. "Alright, Blaze, conserve your energy for when you need it most. You never know what we'll find in this forest," Eric instructed cautiously, remembering the earlier scene with Cypress. Steven returned his Blissey to her Poké Ball after the entire process finished, walking over to the edge of the path they were currently standing on. "We should get going."

Nodding in agreement, Eric began to trek through the underbrush behind Steven as Blaze and Pyro sniffed around heavily for anything suspicious. Eric noticed that the forest was as bright as ever along the way; the sun shining through the trees cast a dappled light on their surroundings, throwing a shade of green onto the surrounding area. Water could be heard streaming through the brush a short distance away, hinting that a stream was nearby. This forest is pretty beautiful, Eric thought to himself. Once you get past all of the dangerous Pokémon, that is.

About twenty minutes into the trek, Blaze perked his ears up in surprise. He had heard something skittering nearby, something fairly large; something fairly dangerous, he was certain. Pyro, too, stopped walking in order to investigate the source of the noise. The two fire Pokémen stood like statues for several seconds in concentration, drawing the attention of their two trainers. "Blaze, what's the matter?" Eric asked, fearing the worst after his previous encounters with the two Ariados. Eric's fears were confirmed when, all of a sudden, three spider-like creatures dropped down from above, surrounding the group. Their pincers clicked and chirped rapidly; they were obviously looking forward to exacting their revenge on Pyro, and it looked like they had brought a friend along to help. Steven appeared eager to take on the creatures yet again. "I'll take care of two of the Ariados, you can take care of the last Ariados," he instructed, glancing down at his Quilava. "Pyro, use Flamethrower on both of them, follow it up with a Flame Wheel!" The lone Ariados not engaged in battle suddenly launched itself forward, landing a few yards away from Blaze.

Steeling his nerves, Eric looked down at Blaze. "Ready, buddy? Let's start off with a Dark Pulse aimed at the Ariados. Follow that up with a Flamethrower, and if gets too close, Leer at it! You can do this!"

Update #27 (07/23/2012)

Rainbow Road
Pest: Look back here.

Space Path
pengyzu: "Great, you won't be disappointed!" She says, and with that you are both off, this time to the back again. The Pokemon seem the same but, there is a different energy in the place, maybe because all the Pokémon seem to be hungry. Jenni comes in a small cart, with all sorts of different foods in the back, the smell of them being a little weird together, "Don't worry, this isn't for us, it's for the Pokémon!"

You start to feed the Pokémon, and all of them seem to be focused on the food as soon as see it. With most of them fed only the psychic "group" seems to be left. As soon she puts out the food for them, all the remaining Pokémon rush to it, but she then comments on the only one who doesn't seem hungry, "Chimeco, it doesn't eat with the other Pokémon, it likes to eat alone, don't know why though, we'll take it inside to eat with us in a few minutes. I'll go prepare us something to eat, it'll be ready in 10 minutes." She then rushes back inside, and with Jenni gone, the Chimeco slowly approaches you. Before you get a chance to say or do something you feel something tickle your back, startling you and Chimeco as you hear the culprit laugh at your reaction, a Smeargle, barely holding on to its tail/paintbrush on the floor, laughing...

What will you do?

KratosAurion: Look back here.

Rose Arch
Shuckle: Look back here.

Stardust Fields
kaisap112: Small purple projectiles hit Kitty first as the Dustox flies towards her, it then does a u-turn towards Elmira and hits her as well with the Poison Sting. The pins disappear, and they take a bit of health from both Pokémon with them, though neither Pokémon is poisoned. Kitty starts to spit Bullet Seeds at the Dustox, and while they don't deal that much damage, they do seem to slow it down a little, enough for Elmira to jump towards it and hit it with another Tackle. The Dustox seems to be starting to show signs of tiredness in the battle with that last attack. The Dustox quickly dives as it sees the two cats coming towards it just as they are about to hit it once again. They both hit each other with the double Tackle, in an almost comical way and they both fall to the ground. The Dustox seems quite satisfied as it looks on at the cats, hit by their own attack. The Dustox has a little less than 1/2 of its health left and 3/5 of its energy left. Both Kitty and Elmira also have 1/2 their health left and a little over 3/5 of energy remaining.

What will you do?

Cloud Forest
MarbleZone: Look back here.

Nagasaki: Peter responds, a little confused at your response, "Okay but hurry, we need all the help we can get." The Chikorita chirps happily before leading you and Blazer back south. The fire doesn't seem to be expanding anymore with the help of the water Pokémon scattered around the fire, though the damage is certainly already done. As you continue you see a group of water Pokémon gathered around a tree, two Marill and two Psyduck, no longer fighting the flames but trying to push the tree, and you see why after Chikorita stops in front of the tree. A Bellsprout seems to be stuck underneath the tree, pinned down with the flames and smoke coming closer to it by the second. The fire is about two feet from the bottom of the tree trunk and Bellsprout is about 6-7 feet away from the fire as the tree seems to have fallen diagonally away from the fire. The top most of the tree is about 8-9 feet away from the fire and the leaves of the tree are 4 feet away from the fire. It doesn't look like it has that much time left, either by being squished to death, or burned by the fire, and the four Pokémon can't seem to be able to do much to move the tree. Looks like you are going to think of a way to help out that Bellsprout trapped under the tree, and quickly or it's going to be a goner.

What will you do?

Thrain: The Ariados snaps its pincers dangerously as it locks looks with Blaze. Both Pokémon circle around cautiously around each other, and it seems Blaze it the first to make a move as a dark energy stream flows from his mouth. The Dark Pulse hits the Ariados, which seems to make a bit of damage to the bug type, but it seems to be exactly what it wanted as it Mimics the Dark Pulse, learning the technique temporarily. Blaze releases a strong Flamethrower from his mouth, hitting the Ariados for quite a bit of damage. Shaking of the flames from its body, the spider then releases the attack it just learned towards Blaze, hitting it with Dark Pulse, taking a bit of health from the pup, to which he responds by Leering at the spider, which seems to be effective as it backs down a little, also lowering its defense. The Ariados releases a String Shot towards Growlithe, which he tries to evade but gets trapped by the string that is now around his body, slowing down his movement a little. The spider looks on, a few feet from Blaze, and there seems to be a mysterious glint in the spider's eyes...

What will you do now?

ChaoticHell83: Lotad starts this round as it sends another stream of water towards Scyther, as another Water Gun hits Scyther, taking more health away from him. Scyther gives the Lotad a deadly look as he Leers at Lotad, which works as it is temporarily paralyzed by the attack, lowering its defense a little. The Lotad responds with a Growl of its own, while not as effective as the Leer, still manages to lower the attack of Gaius by a bit. Gaius concentrates, raising his power and accuracy again as it uses Focus Energy. A seed is spit towards Gaius, and as soon as it touches him, the Leech Seed releases small vines which wrap around his body, restricting his movement slightly. Gaius disappears for a second as it rapidly approaches the lily pad running around the field, and manages to hit it once again with Quick Attack, sending the lily pad back a few feet. The Lotad has a little above 1/2 it's health left and a little less than 3/5 of its energy left, while Gaius has a little less than 3/5 of health remaining after the Leech Seed absords some health from him for the round, and a little less than 1/2 of energy left.

What will you do now?

Hmm, Gaius is getting tired, that's not good. But the Lotad is looking kind of beat. I probably should've left Gaius at the training center for a bit before running off on any escapades. Ah well, too late now. Perhaps I can finish this quickly before Gaius is too exhausted.

"Gaius! Shoot him another Leer before hitting him with another two Quick Attacks! Hang in there buddy!" Caesar shouted from across the pond.

After his orders, Caesar retreated into his mind for some thought to himself; I hope Gaius is alright, I don't think he's in danger of being knocked out at the moment. He does look rather tired though. We need to make sure he gets those hits in, and make them count. Otherwise we're just wasting energy, and that will be our demise. i hope after this round I'll have dealt enough damage to capture it. It'd be nice to knock it out, and give Gaius some experience and make him stronger, but it's not worth risking him being knocked out over.

Wooper Don't try this at home, kids.

Hey, folks. Sorry for the wait, and thank you for your patience.

I'd like to welcome RoseradeX and dosuser to my group. Please remember to include a link to your trainer profile with each post. Thank you.

Sky Gate

Talon87 – With all the strangeness your senses have been assaulted by today, trust is becoming much more difficult to afford. Who’s to say you can believe any of what you see or hear from medical personnel, the pilot, or even the pamphlet print for that matter. At this point you’re still not entirely convinced your location amongst the clouds is correct. Lack of confidence leads you to crack open the brochure and choose the safest option suggested to you: A world of water, to soothe and reflect. Water must flee from a source. Follow the source, and you will find a solution. Or so you hope. Hope, in itself, springs eternal.

You tuck the leaflet in your bag, confirm your partners’ presence one last time, and make your way towards the door. Outside, you glance for a guide, whether animate or not, to direct you where to go. Soon you spot several signs attached to the sides of the Sky Gate, conducting traffic to whichever destination travelers please. You scan the markers until you come across one that reads “Fountain Garden”, and below it in small print: “No fishing allowed” accompanied by a drawing of a hooked Magikarp with a cross over its center. Scratched beneath the depiction in even slighter lettering is another message: “Violators will be eaten by Gyarados.” Whether by the same hand that penned the previous caution or not, some cheeky but well-meaning miscreant had even bothered to carve a rough representation of a stick figure being attacked by the flying fish dragon. Huh. Guess you’d better heed that warning.

Despite growing concerned that your place of purpose might not be as peaceful as you thought, you press on down the winding mobile to…

The Fountain Garden

(Update continues after the break.)

dosuser – You sigh and stretch your legs in the sunlight, glad to be out of that stuffy mansion for once. You can’t even remember the last time you had a real vacation. (Assignments that require you to travel to foreign countries don’t count.) Running secret operations by day, doing battle with enemy agents by night, all this on top of maid duties… A girl – even a guy turned into one – needs a break to herself once in a while. Yep, this’ll be your chance to finally sit back and relax… That is, if your fish friend didn’t have anything to say about it.

Like her name suggests, the wily Enchantress sneaks up behind you and suddenly casts a cold spell of rain. Wiping water from your face, you turn around to find that apparently she wasn’t alone in this plot. Two more Magikarp stare blankly back at you, their innocent guise barely masking a clear penchant for mischief. Upon your greeting, they all splash about together in response, sending another fine spray your way. Chuckling, you call out to the one you recognize, proposing it’s time to move on. You allow her a moment to say goodbye to her newfound friends though, which she does in the flashiest way possible.

Now thoroughly soaked from head to toe, the two of you carry on your quest through the garden in search of more excitement. …And perhaps a towel.

Talon87 & dosuser – As you walk, a small stream offers to accompany the way, and soon its gentle sounds wash away all secondary thoughts. What began as a babbling baby brook matures into a proud parent pool, sustained by a cascade of natural waterfalls and fountains. At the edge where you stand there is only cool serenity, stillness. You are surrounded by it. Yet, you sense a surge of activity. The water brightens to your approach, laughing and murmuring as its waves lap at your feet like a pet, as if greeting an old friend. Then, turning suddenly shy, the surf runs away. Sparkles run and excite on the surface, teasing you to give chase. You sigh, appreciative of the offer but content to remain where you are. Soon forgetting your quest to seek the source, you sink slowly on the soft sand, relaxing for a minute to rest your feet. The warmth makes you feel welcome.

Lazing, you notice a creature further down the shore, closer to where the water meets soil to form mud. A lil blue body with black curved markings, three in a row pulsing down its belly, and purple spikes protruding from the sides of its head. You watch as the Wooper diligently packs wet earth onto its tail before slapping it onto a rising pile surrounded by pillars, carefully crafting the shapeless mound into what resembles a crude castle. You smile and sit back to quietly oversee the construction, admiring its eye for and dedication to detail. It even troubles to dig a deep trench around the fortress and fill it to the brim with water. As a finishing touch, it finds a piece of driftwood and positions it across the moat, then sticks a few more pebbles here and there as decoration.

Finally it stands back in satisfaction, and you marvel at the masterpiece as well. Clearly Wooper has the potential to become a famed sculptor someday. You consider going down to congratulate and perhaps offer to even promote or purchase its work when suddenly you hear a loud squeal, then a splat, followed by a squelch. You startle, and see Wooper leaping back to avoid being struck by a giant wrecking sphere. Unfortunately, the palace isn’t so lucky to survive, as over half of it is caved by the impact. Wooper wails in dismay and immediately sinks down to try and salvage the remains. Meanwhile, you hear two voices approaching, engaged in argument.

“Jeeze, your stupid Combusken kicked it too far!”

“Not my fault! You threw it too hard! Now where’d it go?”

A boy and a girl come running over the hill, followed by a Marshtomp and Combusken. The boy spots the ball sitting by the shore and, without regard to the desperate pleas of the blue being beside it, stomps all over the rest of the ruined castle in order to pick up his prize.

“Aw man, it’s all covered in mud now.”

“Ew, go wash it off.”

“Whatever, it’s fine. Don’t get your panties in a bunch. Here, heads up!”

With that, he drops the ball and gives it a boot, unaware that Wooper was still below it. You wince as Wooper is sent flying along with the ball, and the girl screams as she catches both in her hands, unable to react otherwise on such short notice.

“Gross, what is this thing?! It’s all slimy!”

She drops Wooper like it’s a hot potato, apparently preferring the mud-soaked ball over it. The poor thing sits up in a daze, only to snap alert as a stone flies by its head, initiated by the boy.

“Shoo! Get lost! Don’t interrupt our game!”

Wooper panics and tries to flee, only to bump into the girl’s legs and mistakenly dive behind them. This causes her bare skin to crawl and another shriek to emerge. The boy chucks another rock towards her feet, just missing the intended target.

“And quit bugging my sister!”

Wooper whimpers as it cowers, and your blood starts to seriously boil. The abuse by these two brats is becoming far too much to bear.

At that moment, you both notice the other bystander staring at the scene from the other side, mirrored masks of fury.

Will you intervene?

Memory Lane

Shadowshocker – The flyer and the festival rouse memories deep within you, a few of them rather unpleasant. For but a moment, there’s a brief wonder if the sponsor’s acronym and colorful balloons associated with it had any bearing on the last big (and unfortunately abysmal) fairground event you attended… But it flees before you make the connection. Clenching your teeth and the paper in your hand, you consent that the only course of action to save your own balloon is to bring the boy to a place where there are copious others.

Unfortunately, the problem that plan then presents is the fact that no one would admit a dead body into a celebration of life and joy. Even without a cohort of crows following his every move – which would surely result in curses and commotion from a superstitious crowd – his ghostly appearance alone would raise some questions from curious passerby. How then to go about chaperoning such a harmless chap without raising concern? You ponder as you observe Doldrum steadily deflate under the pressure of acting prisoner, unable to help but amuse slightly at the notion that for one supposed to steal children away to the spirit world, he is instead being held hostage by a spirit child. (Though the latter seems yet unaware he is a thief.) As if the two were tied by a string of fate.

You shake your head and resume your objective, not wanting to lose sight – lest you lose your valued operative. Your first thought is to put a spell over the crowd, but clearly that won’t work. Not only is your only caster too capricious, but maintaining a deception of such dimension, let alone for the entire day, seems doubtful. That only leaves material disguise. You decline your bag and begin to search for any suitable attire that would fit a small boy, while your Pokémon shuffle to surround you just in case of a surprise attack. Jacob again rises on his toes, wondering what you’re up to. Perhaps looking for a present? His hopeful eyes gleam eagerly with slight greed, but who can blame him, given the secrecy with which you conduct yourself? For all he knows you and your Pokémon were all invited guests, meant to surprise him. This is probably the first time he’s been offered a gift by another human since his death, possibly even in life.

At length, you produce a pair of dark glasses and a smart emerald scarf. Those would do for the head, but what about the body? A beat, and you sigh as you stand up, slipping out of your favorite long-sleeved jacket. Your skin shivers as the stale air slides across it, drawing bumps to the surface. To your nonsurprise, you note that Jacob doesn’t seem to mind the chill. Still, you drape the insulation over his shoulders and draw it tight around his tiny body, another purpose leading you to ensure no pale limbs are exposed. Jacob carefully switches Doldrum from one hand to the other as you help him with the sleeves, seeming confused by your actions but obliging anyway. You step back to survey the effect, at the same time worrying that it will disappoint the boy’s expectations. Jacob appears elated with his new look though, feeling the fine quality of the cloth with his free hand.

“Wow, this is the ni-cest coat I’ve ever worn. Thanks, mis-tah!”

Relaxing at his reaction, you carefully append the shades and scarf. His smile, though still somewhat sickly, thankfully shows he at least suspects nothing. While he’s distracted by the new duds, you turn to the Murkrow to propose your plot for getting into the fair unnoticed. They rustle softly in assent, and appoint the Murkrow who has been leading you thus far to remain as an escort. It salutes, and you give a satisfied nod before bracing yourself for the task to come. Drawing in a deep breath, you take hold of the boy’s hand, which feels even colder and clammier than you could have imagined.

“What’s wrong, mis-tah? Where are we going?”

You swallow and shake your head at the first question, and decide to keep silent on the second until you arrive. In fact, you even advise him to close his eyes, since it’s a “surprise”. The request is more for your own sake though, as even behind the tinted lens those black holes tend to unnerve you.

Feeling several more stabbing at your back as the silent mass of Murkrow watches the party go, you steadily steer Jacob to the…

Sky Gate

“Step right up, try your luck! We’ve got tons of prizes!”

“Get your hot dogs here! Popcorn and cotton candy for sale!”

The clamoring sounds and cloying smells of the carnival assault your senses first, and Jacob opens his eyes to a wondrous sight of colors and crowds. They melt and merge together on this vast stretch of cloud, where rainbows and crossroads converge, from which more people are constantly pouring by the minute. He spots the balloons tied to posts, the exotic birds perched on the gate overhead before taking off in a fantastic display, and finally the big banner garlanding the entrance, announcing the Xth annual Cloud Garden gala. His eyes widen, shining so bright beyond their natural dimness, you almost feel a sense of shame for forcing them to hide behind the shade.

“The Sky Fair…” he breathes. “I always hoped fa-ther would take here, be-fore he…”

His gaping mouth shuts, lips suddenly sealed tight. He squeezes your hand for affirmation though, as if to assure himself this is not a dream. You find yourself no longer repelled by his touch, growing accustomed to the temperature. Still, there is no movement, no excitement. Not like you would expect. When you look, he seems almost afraid to cross from hard concrete onto the soft cloud. At first you wonder if it’s because the footing looks unstable, so you take a step to show that it’s safe. However, he shakes his head and lets go, and you sense there’s something more to his terror, something far more subtle. As if he realizes, deep down, it divides the line between himself and the living.

You smile and hold out your hand, granting him access. He hesitates, then takes it, and you pull him across. The Murkrow flutters after, helping to steady before shrinking back to the shadows. At the very least it knows how and when to remain inconspicuous, a favor you are thankful for.

Wishing to avoid drawing too much attention by just standing around, you quickly hustle the group inside, touring Jacob along the booths in hopes that something will stir him. Despite his clearly captivated expression, the boy seems way too overwhelmed to make a decision. Like a trance, his feet merely drag listlessly after the leader, gawking at everything – including other visitors. You try to hurry him along before his gaze is met, but eventually you start to grow tired of this game. Looks like you’ll have to choose an activity for him to occupy his attention, and fast.

You hear wings overhead, and look to see one of the late stragglers from the opening routine returning to its trainer. It veers to the left, where you spot a uniformed man standing atop a stage. He reaches out his arm to receive the bird, stroking its feathers before sending it off again to circle the grounds, crooning in a majestic voice for all to hear. You can see some people heeding the call, beginning to gather by the benches set before the platform. Perhaps they’re preparing for an aerial show?

You are then distracted by another beckon from your right, this time belonging to an oddly familiar-looking woman dressed in white as she ushers people in with a winning personality. She practically sings a promotion for her game, which appears to involve lots of – you guessed it, balloons. In fact, there’s a Pikachu floating above her head by way of several balloons tied to its back, tethered to a pole behind her in order to prevent drifting off in a wayward wind.

And then, just up ahead, you can make out a long queue for what appears to be the hottest attraction: the hot air balloon ride. An elderly man with a moustache welcomes cheering children and adults alike aboard the craft, which strikingly resembles Doldrum. Then with a tap of his cane on the side of the basket, the balloon swells and starts to lift, almost expiring out of sight. People stop to point at the beautiful purple ball, parents lifting their kids up to see and promising to take them later when the line thins out. You can only imagine what the view must be like for the lucky passengers who were willing to wait.

With all the enticing options before you, where will you go?

The Rose Arch

DaisyInari – With Tuxedo Rose out of commission, it’s up to SUPER DAISY to save the day. You proudly declare your presence to the background of your own beat, provided by Sunshine. The Victreebel stops and stares at the strange pair of you with a mix of bewilderment and frustration, wrinkling its nose at your small stature and eruption of snot spilling out of your pocket. Its expression clearly indicates it’s had enough of dealing with annoying characters and obstacles for one day, wishing to simply enjoy its meal in peace.

Upon hearing your EGG-scrutiating joke, it groans and rolls its eyes, apparently already taking minor damage from the pain of having to endure such a lame pun. In retaliation, it boos your performance by flinging rotten produce – only it doesn’t actually bear fruit so it fires just the foliage. You duck to avoid a RAZOR-sharp LEAF, flinching as you feel it shave a few hairs off the top of your head. Sunshine quickly repositions to defend your face, wincing as the projectiles slice at her wings. Thanks to her plumage’s plush padding, most bounce harmlessly away. However, a few stars catch in the cotton, burying deep.

Hurt that the audience didn’t appreciate your joke, you decide the critic needs to cool off a bit before continuing. Sunshine douses the heckler with a sheet of ice and snow, making it shudder and stiffen. Lacking energy, its movement and jeers reduce slightly. However, it decides two can play at that game, and releases a cloud of STUN SPORE. The seeds settle mostly on Sunshine’s body, though a few stray ones tickle your nose, forcing your allergies to flare again. While you fight to control your incessant sneezing, Sunshine struggles to stay aloft as the spores start to weigh her down, locking her limbs.

However, Sunshine manages to surpass the stage hook by doubling her efforts to impress, beating her wings furiously enough to summon a tornatow. Victreebel’s eyes widen comically as it sees the cyclone approaching, and it deems the only desperate response is to fight wind with wind. It spins rapidly, forming a LEAF TORNADO of its own, which it sends forth to do battle with Sunshine’s servant. The tornatows roar and collide with each other, and Lilligant shields her eyes as the two titans clash for supremacy. You too are forced to stand back as the wind whips your hair, covering your nose as well to avoid more dust being blown in. Sunshine flaps even further to fuel her element, while Victreebel can only afford to add layers of leaves that almost immediately get ripped to shreds. As such, Sunshine appears to slowly gain an edge. She grins as the tornatow starts to move in the direction of her opponent, who panics and maximizes its exertion.

It seems its endeavors are not for naught, however, as the piles of leaves begin to build faster than they can be destroyed, congesting the airways. The leaves and spores clogging Sunshine’s cloud also start to take their toll as she tires. For but a brief moment, the two see evenly eye to eye, and there is a calm before the storm. Then, the opposing currents create a grand explosion, resulting in both competitors being knocked back. BOOM. THE END.

You try to catch Sunshine before she blasts off and becomes a star in the stratosphere, but the shreds of green makes it too hard to see. When the gales subside, your heart leaps to spot Sunshine a short distance away. As you approach however, you notice behind her a red backdrop, and you panic for a moment thinking that she might have crashed into a tree and produced a pool of blood. The red starts to flutter as fabric though, and to your relief you realize her fall was broken by the gentle cloak of Tuxedo Rose, who was woken by the noise. It casts you a gallant grin as it allows Sunshine to slide off the silk to safety, at the same time offering her a flower that causes her to flush the same color as the cape.

To your luck, it also looks like the leaves and spores were at least blown away by the wind, leaving your bird clean as a whistle (as well as sounding like one when you ask if she is okay). When you look to see how far the enemy was tossed, you sour to see it hanging from a tree by its vine, having grabbed on at the last moment to help ground itself. It lowers itself in a daze before spotting Lilligant and your group, shaking its head as it immediately remembers what it was supposed to be doing. It snarls at Sunshine, daring her to try such a trick again – to which Tuxedo Rose tsks and moves forth to defend her with a wink. Looks like Victreebel won’t give up the feast easily, and is now thinking of even adding chicken with herbs to the menu.

What will you do now?

Cloud Forest

Charminions – The girl and you glare at each other for all of 20 seconds before you determine such an ingrate isn’t worth your help (or a beating). You’ve better things to do with your time. With a friendly nod to Combee, you decide to clear out as soon as possible to give both the brat and the busy bee some space. However, as soon as you turn your back, you hear another squeal, then a smack, and finally a sickening squelch.

Fearing the worst, you turn your head around to find Combee lying in a bed of flowers, dazed or possibly dead considering the girl is stepping on the poor thing with her shoe. You can only pray she successfully knocked it out with a vicious backhand before greeting it with her sole. Seeing the image of a much larger being (though small in comparison to you) leaning all her weight on a tiny body that can’t fight back fills you with sorrow. Whereas the surrounding pool of petals previously provided at least a pretty picture, now they only remind of funeral ornaments.

However, you soon detect a weak buzzing, which to your relief means Combee must still be alive. You are about to rush over and try to pull the girl away to save Combee, who had done no harm to her as far as you can see other than fly in her face, but stop short when you realize the hum is growing too loud to come from a single squashed bug. You glance up and gulp. There, hanging from the top of the tree is a large Combee hive, slowly stirring upon sensing one of their own has been wounded nearby.

Humanity ultimately overcoming your concern for the creature world, you still your hand’s urge to smack the girl and instead try to grab her shoulder to warn, but she slips out of your grasp just as before. Her eyes widen at your rough, rushed gesture, then narrow suspiciously as she seems to still think you aim to do something funny. Without waiting for an explanation, she scampers back to the branches and, to your horror, begins to climb straight towards the bees’ nest.

You cry and wave your arms at her to come down, but are only answered with a fancy footwear to the face. You sigh as you slowly remove the slipper, and grimace to see what you can only assume to be bits of bug guts stuck to it. Gross. Seems she’s stopped halfway up at least, but is brandishing the other shoe nastily in your direction. You are about to seriously consider leaving her behind to deal with the consequences of her actions alone, but you can see the Combee beginning to crawl out of their case, and you can only assume a furious Vespiqueen is sure to follow. If all of them were to attack at once and she didn’t receive treatment soon, her death would be on your conscience. Plus from the way she’s balanced precariously on bare feet, any surprise could send her right over the edge, and you doubt such a small frame could survive a fall from that height.

As if to prove the point, a freak gust suddenly blows, threatening to throw the child off her toes. She manages to catch herself by reaching out for a thin twig, though you can’t imagine it sustaining her for long. At the same time, you unintentionally catch a glimpse of something white with pink polka dots, and the girl gasps when she catches you looking, locking her knees together. Despite her lack of hands to hold, she somehow manages to angrily throw the other shoe in response. You duck to avoid this one.

“Pervert! Peeping tom!”

She shrieks again. Okay, this kid is seriously starting to get on your nerves. Still, can you really consent to leave her like this?

Will you try to rescue her from the buzziness end of certain stingers? Or declare it’s none of your beeswax? What will it bee?

takkupanda¤Repost of Your Last Update¤

Though one of your ranks has deserted in the blink of an eye, the rest of your loyal party buckles down to save the bear or die trying. Nova casts a cloak over its self to shield it from insect eyes, skin becoming only a shimmer in the wind. Beedrill is stunned by this enchantment, and buzzes in bewilderment as it FOCUSes its ENERGY to find its opponent. Safe in suppression, Nova never fears, and launches further psychological warfare on the exposed enemy, nearly knocking it out of the sky.

However, thanks to that attack, your sniper also effectively gave away its position. Using its sharpened senses, Beedrill pinpoints the location the waves occurred from, an echolocation backfired. It also spots the glaring weakness in the uniform’s design. Though Nova also attempted to dull the standout portion of its body, it cannot disguise its boldness forever. Its jewel is simply too bright and beautiful to conceal, a barrel shining in the sun from the afterglow of rounds fired.

Beedrill seizes its moment, and masks itself in its own veil – only of darkness rather than delusions. It becomes a smoke bomb, which it lobs at its center target. Nova cannot escape the spy’s dogged PURSUIT, and its crystal nearly shatters from the strike, causing the illusion to weaken and wobble. However, the infiltrator also leaves itself wide open to retaliation, which is exactly what Nova gives it in the form of white-hot stars shot from its stomach.

Despite triggering a trap, the Beedrill fully intends to carry out its mission of disarming one opponent. Ignoring the pain, it surrounds itself in shadow again and rams into the switch once more with all its strength, an ASSURANCE of its pledge to the horde. And of victory, as it succeeds in disengaging the dream field. Nova stumbles back from the binary blow, gem flickering faintly as it tries to reboot its system and prevent crashing.

Meanwhile, Broly takes on the other pest. He charges forward and bares his fangs, no sign of fire in them this time. The Beedrill casually readies its stinger, comfortable in the advantage its altitude affords it. However, Broly diverts unexpectedly, making a wild leap into the air at the wasp’s side and biting down on one of its wings. Shocked to see a creature so close to the earth able to clear such height, the BUG panics and starts to STRUGGLE frantically. Unable to uphold his grip, Broly lets go, but at the same time he opens his mouth he releases another wave of intense heat that washes over Beedrill.

Smoking and swaying, the Beedrill barely manages to regain elevation and unleashes its FURY by ATTACKing Broly repeatedly. The pup yelps in pain, but attempts to defend himself by wrapping his paws in flame and delivering a fierce chop to the insect’s abdomen. However, this only fuels the Beedrill’s RAGE further. It maximizes the torture, no longer interested in information but in completely breaking its prisoner of war, who dared to even invade its airspace. Its red eyes are blind to anything else at this point, even its partner. If you don’t do something soon to stop it, you could be seeing your own ally killed in combat before your eyes.

What will you do?

Rainbow Waterfalls

Celebii151¤Link to Your Last Update¤

RoseradeX – The rainbows raise you to a realm beyond report. They steal not only the sky, but roar and rush all around you in waves. Beside you, Vine petitions for a better view. You incline, and she scampers up to your shoulder, where she settles to survey the breathtaking scape. As you step forth, she reaches out to pluck a stalk from the lush vegetation, growing more dense and delicious as you approach the water’s edge. She folds the flower into a sandwich and chews delicately, squeezing all the softness out of the petal. Here, the water calms and collects in a pool around your feet. You sink into serenity.

However, instead of succumbing to prone peace just yet, you remain upright as you root restlessly through your bag, taking stock of your inventory. Vine lazes idly, watching through fading lids as you carefully unpack and repack your belongings, wondering what you are searching for. Soon everything is neatly stowed away again, without having accomplished much but filling your fingers for a while. Your body stretches out across the earth, having no more to do but dream absently up at the sky, colors shifting gradually from bands of blue to puffs of pink and globs of green.

The mild breeze sighs as it tickles your skin, and one similarly slips from your lips. Despite the overwhelming silence and splendor, you came seeking a quest, not to rest. Where hides all the action, excitement? Vine senses tension and clambers onto your chest to tug at your hair, trying to provoke some sort of movement. You’ll never have an adventure just by lying down all day. You deny her constructive attempts by merely shoving her off. This causes her to chew faster in frustration, practically grinding her petal into paste. She scoots down by the shore to sulk, spitting out the sorry bits of blossom to send sailing on their way. Slouching on her stomach with one cheek in hand, she watches the ripples radiate and weaken before plucking another nearby reed to play with, dipping it here and there on the surface to compose a silent symphony of circles.

You barely muster the energy to shrug, glad your companion at least discovered a way to amuse herself. You briefly entertain the idea of joining her, or simply getting off your bum to go search for something stirring like you so want, but lethargy wins in the end. Let adventure find you for a change, you say, as the shadows of sleep start to slide over your eyes.

Zzzz…

Soon enough, you wake to the sound of a soft splash, followed by laughter. You prop an elbow to see Vine waving her baton about with even finer finesses, tapping the pond elegantly in all directions. Big circles, small ones, collide together and resound. In their center, a blue bug with rosy cheeks and a golden cap spins and dances, carefully following the movements of the wand. Despite its miniscule size, you can barely believe its slim, spindly legs can support its body’s weight on top of the water, but they never break once through the surface. As if bearing no burden at all. They carry the little performer to and fro, performing leaps and bounds.

Vine conducts it across the pond and back in a final fabulous flight, landing in the center of a giant ripple that serves as a platform. The lizard precisely times the last few notes surrounding the stage, like spotlights, growing subtler in succession until completely still. Now fully awake, their presentation moves you to applause. The two startle, then Vine smiles and takes a graceful bow. However, Surskit freezes in place, blushing deep as a fire engine. Rather than a proud performer, it has the look of a criminal caught red-handed. Its little legs start to shake, and for a minute you fear it will go under. You continue to pile praise in hopes of pacifying it, but the star skater only seems to shrink at your words, inching further away from the bank. All of a sudden, it bolts, skimming across the lake as if its little life depends on it, leaving only a thin trail of currents in its wake. It suddenly skids to a stop halfway across, backs up, and to your surprise attempts to duck beneath a lily pad. Even from this distance, you can tell its position by the fact its leaf cover is still quivering, causing ripples of its own as it tries to sneak away unsuccessfully. …Some camouflage.

What will you do?

The Dustox seems to be starting to show signs of tiredness in the battle with that last attack. The Dustox quickly dives as it sees the two cats coming towards it just as they are about to hit it once again. They both hit each other with the double Tackle, in an almost comical way and they both fall to the ground. The Dustox seems quite satisfied as it looks on at the cats, hit by their own attack. The Dustox has a little less than 1/2 of its health left and 3/5 of its energy left. Both Kitty and Elmira also have 1/2 their health left and a little over 3/5 of energy remaining.

Dustox set off something small and purple at Kitty and then made a u-turn for Elmira. As Elmira got her share of the projectiles, Noriko recognized the attack as Poison Sting. She sighed in relief as neither feline seemed to have fallen victim to poisoning - but the battle seemed to be far from over.

Kitty launched Bullet Seed at Dustox, slowing it down, enabling Elmira to pounce with a nice Tackle - just like Noriko had planned. What she hadn't planned was what followed: as Kitty and Elmira pounced another double-Tackle, Dustox dodged them, leaving the two felines to smack right into each other. Noriko slapped her forehead as Kitty and Elmira dropped on the ground. "Well, I suppose we'll need to work on that tactic later..."

Dustox looked very pleased with itself for that dodge, which annoyed Noriko slightly. A change of plan was in order. "Elmira, return!" She held up Elmira's Pokéball and with a flash of red the Shinx disappeared. Noriko picked out another Pokéball, throwing it into the air. "Come on out, Minori, we need your assistance!"

A very excited Seel came out of his ball, clapping happily. Noriko was more concerned than happy though. "Alright you two, let's do this! Kitty, you use Bullet Seed twice to slow Dustox down while Minori, you use Water Pulse twice!"

The battle continued in a rush of fur and flame: Vesta's barrage of fireballs was met with an extremely forceful push, leaving both combatants gasping for breath. It was really coming down to the wire here, with two Pokemon hitting each other hard in spite of their low levels. It was, in many ways, a glimpse of the grand destinies they would share in the future ... Then they exchanged a Scratch and Tackle, and the poetic moment was lost.

"That's the way!" Pest cheered, watching Vesta's next Ember strike the Lillipup hard enough to make it gasp for breath. A moment later she realized that her joy was ill-founded, as a series of bubbles floated out from its open mouth and splashed lightly against Vesta.

The Charmander blinked, and her eyelids began to droop as sleep threatened to consume her. But of course there was no way she would be nodding off for very long, as Pest would make sure of.

"Hang on there!" the trainer cried out. "Hit it with an Ember before you fall asleep. Afterwards you'll drift off, but I'll take care of that for you. If you're alert enough to do anything once you've woken up, Scratch it in the face." She reached over her shoulder into her backpack, grasping and pulling out an
Awakening that seemed to glitter cheerfully even in this monochromatic world. "Finally, use another Ember to hopefully bring it to its knees."

With her free hand Pest pulled another item out of her backpack: a boldly patterned
Level Ball that felt cool to the touch. "I don't know if these even work here," she admitted, "but it's worth a try to have it on standby at least. Lillipup's a pretty spirited fighter, and it'd be fun to get to know him better. Or her. Whichever."

Nagasaki saw the Bellsprout, with the four water Pokemon surrounding on the tree. He put his palm on his face, showing disappointment, with a sense of worrying. "Sheesh, you guys had gotten by panic, don't you? You're a pain in the boinloins..." Seeing the poor Bellsprout, Nagasaki thought immediately of a way. "Okay, here's the jet plan. Water Pokemon, try not to let the fire touch the area. Use your firefighting skills to shut down the scorching fire. Chikorita, Cut the tree with your strongest cutting attacks. Razor Leaf, or Cut, or whatsoever. Just don't hit the Bellsprout. Make the tree as small as possible. with that length, it will lose some weight. After that, I'll try to push the tree. Blazer and Chikorita, help me by using Tackle attacks or any attacks that can move the tree away from Bellsprout. Once the Bellsprout can be picked out, get him quickly and let's get outta here all at once!" With the notorious commanding of the Nagasaki, still in his battle mode, where he can manipulate an ally through his commands, he instructed all of the group members to do their objective: to save a Pokemon from danger.

Deciding it's best to leave the girl alone, Charm gives a quick nod at the nearby Combee and then begins to set off with Apollo. That is, until, Charm hears a shriek and some smacking occuring behind him. "What the?" Charm says, turning back, thinking the Combee was probably hurting the girl.

The exact opposite was happening, however. He notices the Combee is near dead as he witnesses the little girl continously stepping on the poor Pokemon. Charm looks saddened and peeved off, hoping the Combee is already K.O.'d before suffering this beat down. "What is with this devil child?" he mutters to Apollo. Apollo gives a shrug, just as peeved that this is happening to an innocent Pokemon.

Charm gives a sigh of relief when he hears the Combee cough out a weak buzzing, atleast he's alive. About to rush to pull the girl away, Charm soon stops in his tracks when he hears multiple buzzing sounds coming from a huge Combee hive in a nearby tree. Oh great, Charm thought to himself, now we're all screwed.

The trainer decides he should grab the girl and make a run for it, grasping her shoulder. She easily slips away though, but from the way Charm rushingly grabbed her, she realized something is going wrong. To Charm's surprise, the girl rushes to the tree and begins climbing it. Charm facepalms himself, as his patience for this girl is quickly depleting.

"Get down here, damnit," Charm yells out, waving his arms. His only response was a slipper to the face, however. Removing the slipper, Charm lets out another sigh. The girl soon stops halfway up the tree, preparing to throw her other slipper. "This seriously isn't the time for slipper throwing," Charm says, now half heartedly as he's starting to consider just leaving her behind. He notices piles of Combee slowly slipping out of the hive, it won't be long before a Vespiqueen comes into the scene too. All those Combee could easily kill the fragile child, something Charm may not want on his conscience for the rest of his life.

A quick gust blows over, almost knocking the girl off the tree, but she manages to grab a thin branch that doesn't look to be stable for long. The gust also happened to reveal something polka dot which Charm unintentionally saw. The girl notices Charm looking and gasps, locking her knees together and somehow throws her other shoe, which Charm ducks away from. “Pervert! Peeping tom!” she shrieks out.

Charm's patience is litterally gone, but a firm hand grips his shoulder. He looks over and sees Apollo looking at him, trying to help Charm relax and remind him that leaving a child behind isn't right. Charm lets out a sigh, relaxing a bit so they can figure out what to do. After thinking it over for a couple seconds he huddles behind Apollo to give him some orders, "Alright, Apollo. I think we can use this situation to our advantage. But despite what I say, if the girl falls from the tree, I need you to leap over and catch her." Apollo wasn't sure what his trainer was going to do, but he gave an affirmative nod.

Charm then faces the girl and looks at the Combee swarming out of the hive. "Listen brat. You might not know this, but you're in a very bad place right now. Those Combee there will certainly kill you for what you did to their friend." He stops to let the girl have some time to access the situation herself. "I could save you..." he stops again.

"But only if you apologize first."

Update 28 (07/25/2012)

Rainbow Road
Pest: After yawning loudly after hearing your attack orders, Vesta gets right back to work. She releases another dose of Ember, which are much harder to shake off as the Lillipup's health keeps dropping. Lillipup once again rushes towards Vesta and takes a Bite out of her leg, which seems to shake off the sleepiness temporarily as she growls loudly and then Scratches the Lillipup off her leg, making it yelp in pain. It stumbles a little before going in for a Tackle, which doesn't seem to do much damage. Vesta conjures up the Ember one more time and it hits the Lillipup, who barely shakes off the attack again. It seems like it is barely standing, just as Vesta finally succumbs to the Yawn, she curls up into a ball in the middle of the field, fast asleep. The burn damage takes effect on the Lillipup before it gets a chance to attack, and it stands still for a few seconds, before falling to the ground, unable to battle further. Level up for Charmander! You rapidly throw the Level Ball you held, and it glides through the air, hitting the Lillipup and absorbing the pup inside it. The ball shakes on the ground once...twice...Ping! Congratulations, you have caught a male level 3 Lillipup!

"You finally did it!" Hugo exclaims loudly, "Been waiting for you for a while!" he then flashes you a Pokéball in his hand, which you assume is the home of his new Lillipup, with a smug grin, "Okay, now that we are here, we need to do this quickly." There is a rather serious tone is his voice now. "See that castle over there?" He then point you to a castle, far off from where you are, and to your surprise, it is not black and white like everything else, it actually looks like a beautiful multi colored castle. "That's Rainbow Castle. We need to get there and our treasure is waiting there for us! There is also a gate there that'll take us back to your dimension. Thing is we only have a couple of hours until the gate closes for a couple of years. We don't want to wait here for that time to come again. Trust me. We need to heal our Pokémon first. My house isn't far from here, so unless you want to stay trapped in this world indefinitely I suggest you come with me."

How will you respond?

Stardust Fields
kaisap112: Both Pokémon ready their assault on the Dustox, first Kitty, as she uses Bullet Seed on the Dustox. The Dustox stays still for a second, defending itself against the attack, before a Water Pulse hits the Dustox quite hard, knocking it to the ground. The wet moth looks at both Kitty and Minori, noticibly tired, and unleashes a wave of psychic energy towards them as it uses Confusion, which take a toll on both Pokémon, and the Dustox finally takes flight again after the attack. Taking a closer look, you notice that Minori seems to be slightly disoriented. Kitty starts to spit another round of Bullet Seeds, but it seems like her partner is completely out of it for now as she looks around the field, completely confused. The Dustox also notices this and fires a Psybeam on Kitty, which takes quite a bit of health off the gal. It seems like Dustox wants to take down Skitty while Minori is confused..

How will you respond?

Cloud Forest
MarbleZone: Look back here.

Nagasaki: Each of the Pokémon start on your plan, with the water Pokémon being the first ones to take action. They release water attacks on the fire, which stops it from advancing towards the trapped Pokémon. With the fire under control, Chikorita starts chipping away at the tree with the strongest Razor Leaf it can muster. After a minute of continuously attacking the tree, the Chikorita seems to start slowing down slightly, but it still doesn't stop until the tree is finally chipped enough to only need to be pushed a little to save the Bellsprout. You start to push the tree, with Chikorita and Blazer both using Tackle on the tree, which seems to work as you finally move the tree, little by little until the Bellsprout is finally freed from the tree, though it is badly injured, barely awake. The Chikorita looks at its friend, unable to do anything for it. The fire seems to be under control now, with everyone pulling their weight, but the Bellsprout needs immidiate medical attention...

What will you do?

Thrain: Look back here.

ChaoticHell83: The expression on Gaius' face changes as he Leers at the Lotad, intimidating it and lowering its defense a little more. While still a little intimidated, the Lotad still tries to Absorb health and energy from Gaius, and manages to do it, though the energy drained is minimal. Gaius move in quickly and tackles the Lotad, which it tries to take on, but get pushed back by the Quick Attack. A barrage of bubbles rapidly flow towards Gaius, and they explode on impact, as the Lotad releases the Bubblebeam on Scyther, for quite a bit of damage. Gaius starts moving at an unusual speed away from the bubbles, towards Lotad, and rams into the lily pad once again with Quick Attack, taking the breath out of it. Lotad seems to be quite tired now, but it refuses to give up, getting up slowly and Growling loudly, which effectively lowers Gaius attack slightly. Gaius seems to be getting tired quickly and Lotad is approaching health in the lower ranges as well....

What will you do now?

Pest watched in astonishment as Vesta, in spite of her obvious wooziness, resolutely remained conscious and spat another burst of fireballs at the Lillipup. In response, the puppy Pokemon darted forward and sank its teeth into her leg with a vicious Bite; the sudden pain caused Vesta's drooping eyelids to snap open, though, and she raked her claws over its face yet again.

"You're doing amazing, Vesta!" Pest said in encouragement, leaning forward eagerly as she watched the Lillipup stumble forward to deliver a not-so-spectacular Tackle.

Her hands clenched around the items they held as Vesta unleashed another Ember that made Lillipup shudder ... and then her heart sank as the effects of Yawn finally took hold, and Vesta could no longer resist the call of sleep as she curled up into a scaly orange ball. "Oh, we're so close, too!" she sighed, preparing to dart forward and bring her Charmander back to wakefulness.

But an exhausted whine calmed her growing anxiety: Lillipup had at that moment succumbed to its burn, and it collapsed into a furry heap. Hardly thinking about what she was doing, she tossed her Level Ball right at its unconscious form. A few seconds passed as the ball wiggled, and then ... Ping!

Pest's shoulders slumped in relief at that most wonderful sound. She scooped up the now-occupied Level Ball in wonder. She'd just won her first battle. It was all she could do not to squeal in excitement.

"You finally did it!" The voice pulled her out of her desire to jump up and down in celebration. "Been waiting for you for a while!"

She looked over at Hugo, who had also captured his Lillipup opponent. "Well, sorry for being so inexperienced," she said, though a light laugh took the bite out of her sarcastic apology.

He grinned, but his teasing quickly gave way to a more somber attitude. "Okay, now that we are here, we need to do this quickly. See that castle over there?" He gestured toward a huge far-off building, which to her astonishment seemed to shine with a multitude of colors. It was so out-of-place in this monochromatic world that the contrast made her head hurt.

Pest nodded. "Of course! It's not like there's any turning back, right? Just lead the way." He'd proven himself to be at least somewhat trustworthy, after all. Still, the fact that he'd said "your dimension" was rather disconcerting ... But that mystery could probably wait.

"You did an excellent job, Vesta," she cooed, stroking the sleeping Charmander's head. "Already at
level ten ... I'm so proud of you." With a smile, she returned Vesta to her Pokeball, then stashed the unused Awakening back in her backpack. She then turned her attention back to the Level Ball, where her new Lillipup lay in stasis. "And you did a pretty good job yourself," she murmured. "Welcome to the team ... Mercury."

With that, she turned and nodded at Hugo. "Okay," she said, feeling confident for the first time. "Lead the way."

Baring his teeth and barking gruffly, Blaze leaped towards the Ariados and let loose a Pulse of Darkness. The stream of dark energy hit the spider squarely, causing a little amount of damage. Biting back the pain, the Pokémon jumped out of range, and managed to Mimic the attack Blaze performed. "Blaze, go in for the Flamethrower!" Eric called a few yards away, energetic now that the battle had started. The Growlithe complied to his trainer's commands, covering the distance the Ariados had retreated to with a massive stream of flames in a long-range Flamethrower. Tendrils of fire smoked and circled their way across the bug's body, severely wounding it in several places.

As the smoke dissipated, the Ariados decided to bite back, shooting forth a Dark Pulse that managed to find its mark on Blaze. The attack caused the loyal dog to cry out in pain; the Ariados chittered happily. Upon hearing the spider's laughter, Blaze regained his footing and Leered at it heavily; with such an intense gaze that the Pokémon couldn't help but shudder a little, lowering its defense. To distract Blaze from leering further, Ariados expelled a String Shot that wrapped up the Growlithe's paws. The web-like gunk was sticky and stiff, preventing him from moving as fast as before.

Eric continued to watch the battle up until Ariados's last move, then he glanced over at Steven who was handling the two other spiders pretty well. Turning his attention back to the matter at hand, Eric realized that something would have to be done with the string that lowered Blaze's speed. "Blaze, why don't you shoot a few Embers at the web that surrounds you? Then let's try a Hidden Power (Ice) aimed at the Ariados; finish up with another Flamethrower! Try to dodge some of the spider's attacks!" As Eric relayed his orders to Blaze, he couldn't help but notice the odd gleam in the Ariados's eye, as if it knew something they did not...

Noticing that both 'mon were beginning to tire quite substantinally at this point Caesar began to seriously debate trying to capture the Lotad for the sake of keeping his Scyther, metaphorically, alive. He hated to waste the potential for Scyther to become stronger by cutting the battle short and simply capturing Lotad, but at the same time it'd be an even bigger waste to have Gaius give out on him now. As it was about time for Caesar ti give his orders once more he had to make a decision:

"Gaius!" He called out, pausing for a moment. Hesitation. What to do?! "Press on! Rest a bit and Focus your Energy. If he tries and attacks, Quick Attack around him and knock him out! If he doesn't, attack anyway!

Kitty launched some Bullet Seeds at Dustox, holding it still just long enough for Minori to hit it hard with Water Pulse. Dustox smacked to the ground, making Noriko jump with joy. "That's it, guys! Keep it up!"

Dustox, completely soaked, glared at its opponents in a tired manner before releasing a wave of Confusion. While Kitty and Minori were recovering from the assault, Dustox flapped its wings and got off the ground. Noriko was about to order the next commands, but noticed that something was up with Minori. The Seel looked somewhat disoriented and...confused. Noriko gulped. This could be bad.

Meanwhile, Kitty started up another Bullet Seed attack - while Minori, in his confusion, did nothing to attack Dustox. The moth noticed this and seemed to formulate a plan to take out Kitty while Minori was busy staring at nothing. A very strong Psybeam smacked right in Kitty's face. The little kitten seemed to be losing health rapidly, worrying Noriko beyond anything else. She still had to try something...

"Kitty, keep using Tackle! Minori, please listen to me and use Water Pulse on Dustox twice!"

Update #29 (07/26/2012)

Rainbow Road
Pest: "Great, let's go!" there is slight cheerfulness in Hugo's voice as he says that. "Okay, I'm not entirely sure how much time we have, but it'll close at midnight, let's hope we arrived in time and can make it back!" A tiny nervous chuckle is produced as he finishes his sentence.

Before long you see small houses ahead, which by the looks it, is a small town/village. "If you see anyone and they ask where you are from, say you are from Carpe Village, a small village near the coast of Parmac, okay?" Odd request, but you acknowledge his advice and continue closer to the village. The closer you get the more you start to hear some sort of chanting coming from the village. Hugo comments on the noise, "Great, we might just get by thanks to that." You start walking through the village, it seems well maintained, spotless even, with no garbage or anything, and the houses seem almost identical with very few things differentiating them. You walk through what appears to be a maze and the chanting seems to be getting louder, until you see a group of people a few houses down, gathered around what appears to be a town square, "Quickly," he then ushers you forward, not letting you stop to see what the commotion is about, but he seems slightly upset at whatever is happening.

"Here we are!" he says, and you wonder how he knows this is his home, with 40 houses exactly like his around it. You enter his home and it seems...quaint. A bed, dresser, stove with a cabinet are in display here, with a door on the left wall from the entrance. "Here we go," he reaches into the cabinet, and takes out 4 mysterious looking berries, handing two to you, he then releases both his Lilipup and Bagon, giving each one of the berries. They both look tired and worn out, and as soon as they finish eating the berries, they appear to be full of energy and fully healed. He then reaches for an odd contraption on his desk, "We are actually earlier than expected. So we can rest up for a little while, or if you want we can explore the surroundings of the castle. It looks like the whipping just started so we can get out of here just fine if you want to go. You have to give those to your Pokémon now by the way, they'll be useless in a few minutes if you give them to your Pokémon after 5 minutes."

How will you respond?

Stardust Fields
kaisap112: Skitty nods at your commands, while Seel happily claps at your orders, looking at you, clearly clueless of the danger both of them are in. That seems to do it though. The Dustox, while knowing Minori is confused, changes it's plan of attacking Kitty as it swoops close to Minori and unleashes a Psibeam at her. The attack sends the oblivious aquatic Pokémon to her back, still clapping after the attack, taking quite a bit of damage with it. The Dustox seems furious at the Seel's behavior, but Kitty manages to use this to her advantage as she Tackles the Dustox. It manages to stay flying, and flies up further up as it begins to soak in the moon's power and energy for its own as it uses Moonlight. Just in that moment Minori stops clapping as she realizes where she is, and sees the Dustox recovering slowly. She spits the strongest Water Pulse she can make towards the Dustox, which is quite far up in the air, and hits it, stopping the healing attack from recovering it more than for a few seconds. The Dustox falls quite a bit before flapping it's wings and stabilizing its flying, almost on the ground now. Kitty jumps towards the Dustox once again and Tackles it once again, which drops its health slightly. The confusion that Minori had seem to be completely gone now. The Dustox has a little less than 2/5 of its health left and 1/2 of its energy left. Kitty has about 2/5 of health and 1/2 energy remaining, while Minori has about 3/4 of health and energy left.

What will you do now?

Cloud Forest
MarbleZone: Look back here.

Nagasaki: Look back here.

Thrain: With little to actually speculate anything at all about the mysterious sparkle in the Ariados eyes, you decide to temporarily focus on the match. The Ariados start to spit purple pin like projectiles towards Blaze, who tries to dodge the pins but is unable. He yelps as the Poison Sting hit his body, but the actual damage of the attack is minimal, at least directly. He doesn't appear to be poisoned, as he quickly aims his Ember attack to the web that slows him down. He manages to remove the web from his feet, but gets hit with a Dark Pulse as soon as he looks up to see the Ariados, pushing him to his side on the ground, doing quite a bit of damage on the pup. Blaze gets a hold of himself before concentrating for a second, forming white orbs around his body with Hidden Power (Ice) and sending them towards the Ariados. They manage to dip his health, but the Ariados doesn't seem to want to give up as it releases another round of the Poison Sting towards Blaze, doing minimal damage as they hit him. Flames hit Ariados' body as Blaze spits another Flamethrower attack at it. The spider screeches loudly as it is hit, and jumps out of the way after 3 seconds of getting hit, the damage of the attack dipping it's health further. As the spider lands, it still looks very confident, while definitely not winning for now, the glint in its eyes is still there...

What will you do now?

ChaoticHell83: Bubbles once again begin to violently explode on Gaius as the Lotad send a Bubblebeam towards him, causing him moderate damage. That doesn't stop Gaius from concentration on raising his attack and accuracy further as he tries to Focus Energy. The Lotad tries to absorb more health away from Scyther as it uses Mega Drain, taking a bit of health from the Scyther and adding even less of it to its own. Gaius once again lunges towards the Lotad, slamming into it to the ground as it is pushed back by the Quick Attack. Lotad has difficulty getting up from the latest attack shaking and stumbling as it does. Both Lotad and Scyther look tired, for different reasons, Scyther's being exhaustion, and Lotad's being from the damage it has taken. Either way, the match will not last longer if it continues.

What will you do?

The pair of Beedrill were turning out to be stronger than Marcelo thought. With his strategies backfiring and his friends being hurt back hard, Marcelo was starting to get worried. Some of the blows Nova took looked really devastating and it was already starting to lose it's essence. Marcelo knew he had to do something about it soon. It seemed it would be okay to have them exhausted battling rather than have them killed and Marcelo considered the key moves each of his battlers had which made sure that they wouldn't get killed. The Beedrill seemed like they meant business and were going all out to punish the intruders and it appeared like they wouldn't stop anywhere short of killing them.

"Broly! Leer to distract the Beedrill for a moment or two. Use that time to recover your health using Morning Sun! Once that is done, Finish the Beedrill off with another Crossfire, the effect of which should be boosted because of Leer!"

"Nova! Hang in there! Camouflage again to make yourself some time to use Recover! Then once you've gained back some health, another Psychic should do the trick!"

Marcelo was also considering other options, trying to think of using other Pokemon should this round of attacks prove fruitless. He kept his hand ready on the Pokeball of the newly obtained Altaria, ready to swap Pokemon at the slightest hint of danger.

You gladly oblige the Plusle’s plea, and produce another Potion from your pack. You advise Plusle to close its eyes, and douse it exhaustively with the remedy. You smile as the smear on its forehead gradually departs, gaining a more wholesome color. Minun watches the happening out of the corner of its eye (the other still fully alert on you), clearly impressed by the magic. The fire fades from its cheeks, and you seize the occasion to surprise Minun with a spritz from a second bottle for good measure. It squeaks in protest belatedly, but calms down when it senses its own wounds also restoring. Grudgingly, it lets the injury to its pride pass without word.

Meanwhile, you have some words of your own. You wear your best smile, and apologize once more for missing the two at first, yet marking them anyway. Plusle nods in understanding, and regrets its assuming actions as well. Its partner looks away, but a gentle yet firm push on its back forces it to join in repentance. You quickly assure them of your forgiveness, then move on to a more serious matter, asking if they knew of a certain stone you have been seeking: the legendary Linguistite.

The two mice glance at each other, shrug, and shake their heads. The name doesn’t seem to ring a bell. Plusle ponders for a moment, then bulb of light pops above its head. It gestures to the lone cherry blossom tree, and Minun appears greatly alarmed by this suggestion. The two oppose each other again, locking ears and cheeks as heated sparks fly between them in the form of invisible static. You look to your Pokémon hopefully for a translation, but for the moment they seem as lost as you are.

Abruptly, the Plusle ends the quarrel by planting a kiss on its partner’s nose. Minun blushes and turns away, unable to counter such a potent move. Plusle giggles and gives you a wink, then starts to explain its plan. It seems there is a wise old Noctowl who lives inside the tree, who would probably know the stone of which you speak. The only problems are a. He sleeps during the day, and b. He hunts at night, and his favorite prey happens to be rodents. In addition, he doesn’t like outsiders, especially humans. (Like a certain someone, Plusle adds, judging by the way it glances teasingly at a miffed Minun.)

The only way to even get the Noctowl to maybe meet and speak with you then would be for one of the mice to first present it an offering. The Noctowl is at least familiar with the pair since they always play around the tree during the day, safe for the simple fact he won’t leave his hole for any reason as long as there’s light. (Though on more than one occasion they’ve disturbed his sleep and gotten chased at duskfall, barely making some narrow escapes.) They have heard a rumor that he prefers a certain type of Berry, which only grows near the Rainbow Waterfalls due to the rich soil. And they can lead you to it, right?

Plusle nudges its partner, who is unmoved. Plusle puts its magic to work again by batting its bright eyes, and try as Minun might to resist, the cuteness is too much. It caves with a sigh, and nods its assent. However, gallantry insists that it will be the one to lead the way.

Will you take the mice up on their offer?
((ASDF sorry for taking so long >_<))

Dan asks his question to the two electric mice, hoping for a good answer from the pair of electric rodents. The pair of pokemon look to each other for an answer, but finding nothing, shrug and shake their heads. Dan is slightly disheartened, and is ready to return to his such when a small ball of light pings into being above the Plusle's head for a brief moment before vanishing. The positive pokemon points at the lone cherry blossom that Zapz had earlier climbed. It's cohort looks appalled at the very idea. Plusle turns to Minun, glaring - the two suddenly lock ears, and it gets tense for a brief moment. Dan looks to his electric arachnid partner, but the Joltik looks just as lost as he does. A quick glance to his other side confirms Terrance's perplexment also.

The two pokemon's heads push closer and closer together, more and more aggravation appearing on the face of both - until suddenly Plusle raises it's face and plants a smooch square of Minun's nose, bringing the silent argument to an abrupt end. Minun's little yellow face instantly becomes flushed, and it turns it's head away, a little embarrased and with nothing to respond to that with. Plusle winks at Dan, who stifles a giggle, the through some creative signing begins to explain it's plan. It point to the tree, then tries to act owl-like, then picks up the stone, nodding. Dan gets the gist - there's a Noctowl in the tree who might know. Through a variety of other actions, Plusle gets across the problems with the plan; he sleeps at day, he hunts down and eats rodents and he isn't fond of outsiders.

Dan considers several ways to get the Noctowl to talk. It wasn't going to come out with a simple request, and forcing it out would certainly be no way to get it's help... and then it hit him. "Wait. You two know him well, right? Well, what if one of you two gave him an offering - like a berry or something - then asked him to come talk to me? That might work."

Plusle mulls it over, then picks up a loose berry and points to a relatively far off gate into the Rainbow Falls section of the Cloud Garden. It then signs to follow it, nudging Minun - who is grumpy enough that he doesn't want to move. Plusle puts on it's cutest face - and Minun reluctantly yields, but only if it leads the way. Dan considers the offer. Hunting for this berry could be a waste of time if the Noctowl knows nothing about the stone... but it was worth a shot.

"Sure thing, lead the way! Oh, but one thing first." He takes a Pokéball from his belt and returns Terrance, to save him from walking around on those little legs. Zapz scuttles up on top of his trainer's head in order to avoid what would be a similarly long journey for it. "Alright, ready! Let's get going." And with that, the group set off.

Hmm, it seems knocking this thing out once and for all is proving quite difficult. Oh well, I can't bear to watch Gaius put up with this any longer, he needs a rest. Caesar thought to himself, reaching back and taking out one of his Pokeballs.

"Gaius!" He called, smirking a bit with the anticipation of his first potential Pokemon capture sitting right before his eyes, "Clear the way, my friend! You've fought bravely, now I'll take it from here!"

And with that Caesar hurled his Pokeball out across the pond at the Lotad, swinging part of his body with it to get that extra little bit of force behind it to make sure it got to where it needed to be alright.

Let's hope this works... And that I didn't miss! Caesar thought to himself. That would most certainly be a disaster.

OOC: Just so you know, Minori the Seel is male. ^^;

Kitty nodded confidently at Noriko, fully understanding what was asked of her while Minori clapped happily without a care - or clue - in the world. Dustox thought it'd take advantage of this and hit him with Psybeam. Despite the apparent loss of health, Minori clapped away happily, which seemed to annoy Dustox.

While the moth was distracted though, Kitty stealthily sneaked up on it and used Tackle effectively. Noriko gasped as Dustox suddenly started shining: a healing Moonlight, no doubt! Luckily enough, Minori seemed to come back to his sense at the bright light, shooting Water Pulse at it. Dustox stopped healing itself, dropping down slightly before flapping its wings and getting back in the air again. It wasn't too much off the ground though - Kitty smacked it with another Tackle magnificently.

With Minori's confusion gone, Noriko felt a bit better about the battle...but Dustox was seriously starting to get on her nerves.

"Change of plans, guys! Minori, use Headbutt twice and then..." Noriko drew a shaky breath. "Kitty, give Dustox two servings of Incinerate! Take it out!"

As Pest agreed to go along with him, Hugo's cheefulness returned, though it was tinged with anxiety. "Great, let's go! Okay, I'm not entirely sure how much time we have, but it'll close at midnight, let's hope we arrived in time and can make it back!" Pest felt a twinge of unease at her guide's lack of certainty in something he was apparently well-acquainted with, but decided to let it go.

They made their way through this black-and-white landscape for a while, and they went unapproached by any living thing, human or Pokemon. Before much time had passed, a small town came up into view, dotted with nondescript houses. Beside her, Hugo spoke up to break the several minutes' worth of silence. "If you see anyone and they ask where you are from, say you are from Carpe Village, a small village near the coast of Parmac, okay?"

"Sure," Pest agreed, though she still considered the content of the lie she needed to remember. Carpe Village? Bodies maybe? What does that even mean?

As they drew closer, she realized that it wasn't quite as quiet as she'd thought: the sound of chanting drifted ominously from the village. "Great," Hugo remarked, "we might just get by thanks to that."

They made their way through the maze of houses, and Pest realized something particularly odd: the houses were so nondescript that she felt a bizarre sense of deja vu every time they passed one. She could see no significant differences between them that could serve as a sort of landmark. It was all rather eerie. But it was only when they caught sight of a crowd of people all gathered in a town square some distance away that her hair started to stand on end.

"Quickly," Hugo hissed, urging her on. Pest was eager to comply; this whole setting had a sense of utter wrongness to it, regardless of the colorful castle nearby.

Soon they found relative safety in Hugo's house. At least, it seemed to be Hugo's house; the only obvious indicators of his possession compared to the other nondescript houses were his exclaimation of "Here we are!" and his familiarity with its inside. It seemed a decent place, if rather small, and she found that she could relax a little in here.

"Here we go," Hugo said, pulling four berries from his cabinet. Pest had never seen anything like them, and she watched intently as he released his two exhausted Pokemon. Almost as soon as they had eaten their berries, the Bagon and Lillipup were as awake and alert as if they had just woken up from a very long nap.

"We are actually earlier than expected," he remarked casually as he grabbed at some odd invention on his desk. "So we can rest up for a little while, or if you want we can explore the surroundings of the castle. It looks like the whipping just started so we can get out of here just fine if you want to go."

Pest's wonder evaporated as her eyes bugged. Whipping?

"You have to give those to your Pokémon now by the way, they'll be useless in a few minutes if you give them to your Pokémon after 5 minutes," he advised.

Shaking, she let out her own unconscious Pokemon and guided the remaining two berries into their mouths. She bit her lip, waiting for them to stir and telling herself to get a grip. "A whipping?" she finally managed to say. "How is that ..." She shook her head, incredulous at whatever brutality was taking place. "Well. Maybe it would be best if we headed up to the castle now, while they're still distracted with ... what's going on over there. Besides," she added with a forced laugh, "I followed you for adventure, didn't I? If exploring around a mysterious castle isn't adventure, I don't know what is."

Vesta grunted sleepily, and she affectionately rubbed the Charmander's head. "And while we're doing that," she said, growing a little bolder, "maybe you can tell me a bit about this place. Like what the lack of color is for. I don't think I've ever been so mystified in my whole life, to be honest."
