It depends on the set. The Offensive sets have a danger of being OHKO'd by Mach Punch, while the defensive sets can take at least one. But neither of them is going to able to switch in.

Hmph. I could smarten up and just run Talonflame.

...

Or not. Either way, I've seen all of one Breloom, and it used Spore as I switched to Girafarig, and I then KOd with Psychic. It was a SubPunch set, since it had previously KOd my sadly sleeping Pyroar who was put to sleep on the switch in.

Talonflame is really whored around. There are other Pokemon you can use that can stop Breloom like Celebii and Lando-T.

Yeah I just like Lando-T. Celebii is the best counter ATM because everyone for some reason thinks SubPunch is the best set, and its not.

You know who I've seen whored around? Aegislash. It isn't even terribly good.

Aegislash suffers from "I can't beat bulky things." syndrome. Anything that can take a hit form it usually OHKOs it.

I faced two Aegislash with my Halloween team and it was really easy to outpredict it. It's a one-trick pony and I expect that while it'll always lurk in OU, it'll get bumped when people realize that the only good set for it is a copypaste set.

Doublade is a really awesome tank, though. I hope people use it.

Aegislash I believe is going to be 5th Gen's Haxorus. It only does one thing well(Hax's only really good set is DD) and is always in danger of falling into UU but it will never happen.

Aegislash might balance out of the UU meta though.

Doublade is pretty nice, but suffers from the same weakness that Aegislash has, except Aegislash doesn't die to min Sp.A TTar's Fire Blast.

Yeah, Aegislash is also pretty weak to statuses. Out of curiosity, though: Have people really not been running the fairly gimmicky no-KS set? Autotomize/SD/ShadowClaw/SacredSword? Setup while in Shield forme, then switch and go on the offense? Of course, as I said, gimmicky, but I can't imagine the KS set is much better against opponents who can switch.

On the other hand, the guy makes a beautiful piece of my Maison-slaying Fairy-Steel-Dragon core.

Ah, yes, because the Wifi metagame at the moment is only slated to be around for two more months. Sorry if I look towards the future.

Lol, I run a set without Kings's Shield and any other set-up moves :P
I have Shadow Claw, Shadow Sneak, Iron Head, Sacred Sword. Adamant with an EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD and Expert Belt.
Works pretty simple, switch on something that you can force out, attack on the switch, attack again on their set-up (they usually predict you to go for KS) and finish off with Shadow Sneak if it isn't dead already.

Aegislash is getting found out really hard, really fast to be honst.

As I've told Escalion, generally the only strategy you need for Aegislash is EARTHQUAKE TILL IT HITS. AND STONE EDGE THE TALONFLAME SWITCH.

Yeah, I know. Just what I said, it's getting found out really hard. And once I start on Pokébank, it's probably the first mon I kick of my team due to this. Though it's fun playing with it for now.

I don't get it, why people aren't running Air Balloon on this thing? It works wonders for me.

Also, what do you do when people start predicting your King's Shield? You outpredict them and smack them in the face while they try to set up on you. There's a name for this: mindgames. Aegislash is not a bad Pokémon by any means, no matter how you look at it. It's got great typing, bulk, and offense. Probably not worth the over-hype, but what's not to like?

Aegislash is very predictable and though it has a lot of potential, there aren't many viable sets beyond the King's Shield/Swords Dance/Iron Head/Shadow Sneak set. It's actually a really good Pokémon, which is why it's so popular right now, but everyone and their mother is running the same exact set and it's getting rather bland.

That said I think it's actually a lot better to run Sucker Punch and/or Will-o-Wisp against Aegislash. Sucker Punch is pretty potent and pops the Balloon for future quakes, and Will-o-Wisp forces it to either set up more, buying you a little time and caps its damage output lower.

The mixed sets are also some of the best sets in my opinion, running Sacred Sword/ Flash Cannon/ Shadow Sneak/ [insert move here]. They are really good on catching checks like Lando and Gliscor unawares, though in general you have to trade in bulk. I would definitely run LO too instead of Lefties.

I went like crazy on the post E4 fossils.
Does anyone want an Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga or Archen?
Didn't think so...

EDIT: For that matter, was anyone attempting to collect all forms of Vivillon? If you want, I'm willing to trade a Continental version.

iirc, when you encounter "no eggs" Pokemon (legends, babies) they have at least 3 31 IVs

So, I haven't played in a while, but I want to know what you guys think about how old Pokemon are doing in today's meta?

I can see Starmie being UU this Gen. She simply has too much going against her. Greninja completes outclasses her in the offensive department, even with Analytic. Yeah sure, she has Rapid Spin, but at the moment being weak to Aegislash and not having anything that can dent it terribly is a huge problem for Starmie. The only niche she has is her defensive spinner set with Recover, but if that gains any use I'll be surprised. Excadrill at the moment has much more utility as a more defensive spinner due to the fact that he can get past the two top spinblockers(Aegislash and Mega Gengar) and still outspeed them at Min speed in sand. Meanwhile Starmie's greatest niche, her ability to keep Rain at bay, is no longer such a great thing, since weather(with the curious exception of Sand) has died down a lot.

Another Pokemon I could see dropping possibly to BL is Jirachi. It's not that anything has really out shadowed Jirachi in its does. It's the best para-flincher in the game, screw Togekiss. But this gen hasn't been kind to it. It picked up weaknesses to Ghost and Dark, meaning its no longer a good counter or check to Pokemon like Gengar or Tyranitar. It's vulnerable to Pursuit, which is a huge issue as it tends to run from Scizor. As if to compound insult to injury, Talonflame is a huge Pokemon at the moment and bar running Thunder, Jirachi really doesn't have much to beat the bird. SubBU makes the specially defensive sets look like the stuff of n00bs. It also can't do much to Malamar, or Aegislash, and both can set up on it without worry. It's too much of a liability at the moment to run it.

That's my opinions though.

A world where Starmie is UU is a sad one indeed.
