Shuckle For Ubers, aka the UPN Tiers Funtime Discussion Thread
Subtitle: "Tiers R4 Queers" (tm Jeri)
Clearly Shuckle should be BL, look at how many Pokemon it OHKOs after a Power Trick with Trick Room in effect. [long-arse list should go here] Since the Gen V thread has been hijacked by discussion of tiers and whatnot, I thought I'd try and start a separate thread for this. Yell at each other about tiers here.

Dunsparce should totally be banned. It is clearly super hax with all those Paralyzing and Flinching moves. BTW I use one.

I agree, but that was my original point. I think that Porygon-Z should be OU while Cresselia should be BL. Smogon's whole system based on usage makes no sense to me, as you could just get a group of 100 people and constantly play with Caterpie in your squad and get it up to BL / OU.

No no no. Cresselia overcentralizes the metagame by a long shot. It's definately BL. PorygonZ doesn't. It's UU thanks to Technitop. And other priority moves.
Also pokemon are basically in the lowest tiers they don't overcentralize. And it's like if a pokemon isn't used too much in OU and people think it wouldn't overcentralize UU, it's placed in UU for a test.

I'll do some calcs later but having to take a TechniTop (Who at first glance I'd say can't swtich in) as a revenge killer is over centralization. I'm not sure any other priority moves wouldn really do that much to Porygon. Quick Attack and Sucker Punch looks like it won't OHKO or even 2HKO.

I think I see a trend.
Is it just me, or has pretty much every powerful-but-frail pokemon been moved to UU since the introduction of Technician, and, by extension, the Platinum move tutor? |

Infernape is still OU. Aerodactyl is OU. Jolteon - OU. Your theory is debunked.

Infernape: Resists Bullet Punch.
Aerodactyl: Learns Fire attacks and Flying attacks. Jolteon: Resists Bullet Punch. Weavile: Learns Ice Shard. Azelf: Resists Mach Punch. Gengar: Completely immune to Mach Punch. |

Those things still don't prove your point. Alakazam resists Mach Punch and is UU.
It's simply how often they are used and how potent the Pokemon is. Alakazam's main fault is that it's not particularly useful in OU. While it can do some very potent Special Attacks, so can Gengar, and Gengar has immunity to Ground, Fighting, and Normal as well as some decent resistances. Alakazam has no immunities and it's numbers are roughly the same as Gengar overall. So overall Alakazam is UU because it fell out of favor due to another Pokemon doing roughly the same thing and being better at it or easier to use. If Alakazam is overpowered in UU, well good for it. Expect to see a whole UU tournament with nothing but Alakazams in them. That's how things happen. |

Also Mach Punch is never used in OU. As in pretty much never. Only Infernapes use it.
And Infernape dies to pretty much anything it's frail as heck. And Jolteon (lol) dies to any scarfed attack. Everything else is pwned by Bullet Punch.

That wasn't the point. Saying a Pokemon is thrown out of OU simply because it's got poor defenses and high speed because priority attacks are supposedly so common is untrue. Then disproving that the high speed attackers I list 'don't count' because they resist various priority attacks just doesn't cut it. There's still a good handful of Pokemon still on OU who are fast and defensively weak.
Simply put: No one likes Alakazam for OU. It's not OU. No one cares that its UU except possibly treepandaone. Don't try to make it logical. People like Gengar. People like Weavile. People like Infernape. No one likes Alakazam. And that is why it will never be President. It's mustache does not make it look confident. THE END. |

There should be a move that is Trick, Mean Look and Baton Pass all rolled into one.

That sounds more like an aiming tool for rapists.... then again, getting Mean Look, Trick, and Baton Pass could very easily lead to rape and/or sodomy.

You could make it balanced by only having it learnt by a Pokémon with the defenses of Attack Deoxys that always has the Stall ability.
