Maybe I Am A Gastrosexual: Shokugeki no Soma
"Shokugeki no Soma tells the story of a boy named Sōma Yukihira, whose dream is to become a full time chef in his father's restaurant and surpass his father's culinary skills. But just as Sōma graduates from middle school, his father, Jōichirō Yukihira, closes down the restaurant to cook in America. However, Sōma's fighting spirit is rekindled by a challenge from Jōichirō which is to survive in an elite culinary school where only 10% of the students manage to graduate." -Wikipedia Shokugeki no Soma, translated as Food Wars, boldly features two variants of food porn, both of which are pretty solid. Despite being "so rediculous it works", it really seems like it could be a thing. This really isn't something you watch in the living room though. Looking forward to the next episode, as this was rather enjoyable. The recipes featured can also work in real life, so you can actually get something out of this.

I'd heard of this story since it's a Jump series and a lot of people will follow something just because it's Jump. Aside from that though...I have no idea of the story's quality and just know the premise. Perhaps a bit less than that intro Wikipedia passage, at least.
It's an anime now?

Yeah, just finished Episode 2, and I'm definitely riding this out to the end. It has a great intensity that works even better this episode than last, while blending in comedy extremely well. And it does an amazing job of making you hungry as fuck while watching because damn everything looks delicious. While I thought it was a bit much last episode, the fanservice here didn't overstay its welcome, and was actually kept to a really nice length. Using it to help with a joke is a really good way of sliding it in so that it fits well. So yeah, Episode 1 was alright enough, but if you were iffy about it after Episode 1, definitely check out Episode 2 because it's even better.

So I just started this thanks to a friend relentlessly recommending it to me. That first episode... was just so unexpected, I swear I spent the whole next day with a hoarse voice from laughing so much. Just holy damn. I actually plan on finishing the season now just from how hilariously ridiculous and intense it is. "Food porn" indeed omfg.

Don't worry, Episodes 2 and 3 are even better xd
It's really nothing ground breaking plot wise, but what's there is entertaining enough, the characters are fairly nice and enjoyable thus far, and the whole premise of the show is honestly enough to carry it, since the food always sounds and looks delicious. Soma's a carrier as well, since to me at least he's absolutely hilarious. Like I said, he's by no means anything deep or complex (At least not yet), but what's there is good enough to keep it funny, epic, and entertaining.
