I tried to brute force the Elite Four and only got through 1.5 of them. If only there was a place to get tons of Ether...

There is a berry that restores PP. I'm thinking Leppa.... Been a while since I used a berry not named Lum, Salac, Liechi, or Petayayayayayayaya.

EDIT: Lindsay, about Purrloin, the word Purloin itself means thief. So with just an added R, it made it more catty. It is kinda clever, except Purrloin doesn't learn Thief naturally lol.

This game's EXP system actually encourages using a full team of Pokemon!

Horray!

Now I don't feel like the only person who plays Pokemon as it was somewhat intended.

I raised a full team of 6 to level 50 and breezed through the E4. I spent maybe an hour out of 24 grinding. Audino + Lucky Egg makes it really easy; each Audino is about a level until you hit the 40s, and then it's about 1.5.

Try using a full team next time. It makes the game somewhat challenging and actually fun instead of just "Let's watch Leaf Storm Animation for 8 hours!"

I must say I am very impressed. Up to Chargestone Cave at the moment beating Plasmas. Roggenrola line was actually really useful in the early stages for me actually which is different since usually early Rock types were useless early for me. Catching every 'mon I see so far except I haven't caught Darmanitan or Sigilyph, for different reasons, I wanna go back and catch both later on though.

I see five guys in the central hub of Gear Station. None of them do an IV check, is there something I have to do to unlock that?

Maybe beat the E4 first, but I can confirm he's there. (I checked after the E4 so that might be your problem.)

I just beat the Elite Four.

In the most spectacular way possible.

I took a full team of six, but one was a newly caught Pokemon I was aiming to train, the other a hatchling. I brought along three Legendaries simply because I didn't have any other Level 40+ Pokemon.

All of them were 1HKO'd. Serperior ended up beating three Elite Four by himself, and I ran out of offensive PP during the fight against the Psychic Elite Four. So, I just used Coil over and over until I got to use Struggle...which 1HKO'd each of that Elite Four's Pokemon.

I couldn't believe it, even freaking Wring Out at full strength did nothing to these guys, but here fudging Struggle 1HKO's them into oblivion. And thankfully, unlike in RBY, I got to rest a bit before the Championship fight.

Gonna hunt for the IV Guy now. Again.

Wring Out is based on the user's HP, is special, and is type Normal. It maxes out at 110 power with full HP.

Meanwhile, Struggle is a typeless 50 power physical attack. With +6 levels of Attack, you probably got 400% power. That makes it like 200 power attack of unresisted type damage.

I see. It's a bit of a pity, then, that Pokemon get healed before each battle.

I waltzed into the finale, Zekrom v. Reshiram. I switched out for Serperior, then-

FUSION FLARE

Super effective!

Oh yeah? Well LEAF STORM.

Not very effective...

FUSION FLARE

Impossible...?!! Kyruuuuaaaughh!!

Why did you switch out? Just spam Dragonbreath or Slash. Dragonbreath has STAB and a chance to paralyze the opponent but Slash relies on Zekrom's better attack stat, Reshiram's worse defense stat, and the possibility for Critical Hit luck. The choice is yours.

Yeah, I spammed Dragonbreath. Reshiram is Dragon/Fire, so has a 4x resistance to Grass.

This is why you don't rely on one Pokémon.

Keep spamming Hyper Potions till it runs out of PP.

Actually in all seriousness I always abuse battle items like XSp.D in serious battles. Shit is awesome.

No mention of these games insane encounter rate yet? Ya all spamming repels or something?

I'll subscribe to this theory! Its just like D/P not having a battle frontier. Guaranteed all kinds of rematches'll be back in version three.

Yes and no. Yes, I spammed Repels. No, I don't think the encounter rate is the worst yet. That honor still belongs to Gen 2 and *shudder* its reincarnation in HGSS. In that game, you go anywhere where there are Pokemon and it is common to exit one fight, walk two steps, and be in your next fight. That happens in this game as well -- but only in select areas. I actually noticed that the caves were better than they have been in times past, allowing you to run (yes, run!) as many as 10 steps before running into something. That's way better than Gen 2.

Didn't I make a video about encounter rates and how GameFreak could fix this? Oh yeah ... I did!

Which reminds me: gotta fix the audio on that sucker. Drives me CRAZY the way I blurt out "new battle" in the beginning. hahahaha >_<

I switched out because I didn't think Zekrom could beat Reshiram. Serperior almost 1HKO'd Zekrom, so I was afraid I'd lose the only strong backup Pokemon I'd ever had during my entire play.

I thought Reshiram was a Dragon/Normal. I didn't know it was 4X resistant to Grass and had a nuke Fire move. :X Zekrom didn't use his nuke Electric move on me until the third time I fought him (because I wanted to catch him in a specific Pokeball).

...

WTF? N sent on a Klinklang, and it turned into a Zoroark?

Yeah, Zoroark has the Illusion Ability, which makes it appear like another Pokémon in the trainer's party. Usually the one in the last slot. Upon taking damage, the Illusion breaks, and Zoroark is revealed.

While this is true I need to say that for HGSS the encounter rate is substantially lower when you're walking instead of running.

I met the Pokemon Talon told me about in Ghetsis' arsenal. Truly a fearsome threat! I want that Pokemon now, not Axew. I lost Zekrom to it, but Serperior killed it. I then abused Leaf Storm/switches like Loki and Talon suggested and killed the whole team.
