Internet speed
So after trying to stream something and having it fail miserably for some friends (repeatedly losing connection, a problem I've never had), I decided to take a speed test and discovered my upload has fallen to a horrifyingly low rate of only .45 Mbps, while my download retained 17.50 Mbps.
How the fuck did this happen and how do I fix it? No one else is on the internet right now aside from maybe my brother who may or may not be on Xbox Live, which shouldn't matter because I've streamed movies while he was on it in the past with no problem. What do your speeds look like, and can you offer any advice to fix this ailment?

Right about where it always is for me. Sadly, I can only contribute to half this thread. Not a tech guy, so I have absolutely no clue what to do for your situation.

That's so weird. phoopes DL is lower than mine (20 Mb/s), but my upload is way lower than his, at about 1Mb/s.
I'm fairly sure it's linked to my own computer's hardware (being really old stuff on this thing, I don't even know if I have 2GB RAAM). I don't know about your computer stats or anything deoxys, but if it's state of the art, you might consider checking if you're not bogged down by malware or something. |

First-world problems?
But in all seriousness, Comcast are known to throttle your bandwidth after you use too much, where "too much" is "whatever they feel like at the moment". Have you done a lot of filesharing or torrenting lately?

No, I very rarely torrent or fileshare - we're talking barely a few times a year at most.
I don't use Comcast either. I have a small, fairly obscure ISP who wouldn't give a shit about that kind of thing anyway.

Whoopes, I saw phoopes and thought you were the one on Comcast. In that case I have no idea =3=

Yeah, I have Comcast, thought that's never happened to me at all. Probably because I've never downloaded anything illegally, surprisingly.

I know next to nothing about computers, but I assume this is bad. Edit: Oh wait, I got a B grade. So maybe it's not bad.

I think I'm at 20d/5u but I'm pretty sure that is baloney and not what I'm actually at. I probably get half that at best.
