If people are talking about a new Pokemon and don't have a picture or more info up yet, you can literally just go to serebii.net and it will be the very first thing you see at the top of the page, with all of the info you need right there.
I'll always post pics and info when I can but given the frequency of Sun/Moon info coming out, it's just not feasible for me to be able to cover all of it. |

Nintendo Direct just revealed Alolan Rattata. Dark/Normal. Rattata was what Yungoos was imported to deal with, but all this did was make Rattata nocturnal and change their habitats, which resulted in this change. Also, there's gonna be a Munchlax distribution, and it's gonna be holding a special Z crystal allowing for the use of Pulverizing Pancake, a Snorlax-only Z move.

Game Freak managed to take a generic rodent like Rattata and give it the Shadow the Hedgehog treatment.
Honestly, I couldn't give two fucks about RazorRat, Yungoos is new and interesting. This thing has two boring abilities we've seen, one of which is godawful due to the fact that, irony of irony, RazorRat doesn't get Hone Claws. This miserable thing is the literal embodiment of all those edgy pokemon hacks. As for Munchlax and that Z move, I couldn't care either. Unless Pulverizing Pancake (what grade of Kool-Aid were they drinking!?) has some unique trait with it, or hefty base power, nobody's using it. These reveals are rather dull, not impressed. |

Well, they do say Z moves are considerably more powerful than any other move, so I'd imagine they're well worth the fact they can only be used once per battle.
And who knows? Maybe Alolan Rattata will get Hone Claws. We know the movesets are gonna differ between their original and Alola forms anyway, so it's a possibility. |

Hahaha, I almost want to say Alola is the 'other' region that's spoken of in Kalos. Whereas one got Mega Stones for certain Pokémon, the other got Z stones for the other Pokemon that didn't get a mega evolution.
Dark Rattata is cool and all but I still wouldn't use one. Snorlax's move is both hilarious and horrifying. Those eyes when it wakes up. It looks like something I'd expect for a Danganronpa execution.

Those Z Move names are hilariously bad.
But other than that: I want to see more evolutions, like those supposedly multiple evolution options of the starters and Rockruff.

According to Serebii, we're supposed to be getting the next batch of Sun/Moon news on the 6th. 9:00 in the morning in Eastern Standard Time- basically the same time we've been getting these trailers.

The whole Gen 1 circlejerking thing is literally the developers going 'Fuck how can we keep gen 1 mons relevant to the current games?' Also I think the developers may be scared of hitting 1000 Pokemon, because at that point it's pretty fucking stupid.

Fairy feraligatre? That'd be quite the shot from left field...
As for the reveal itself, as lame as it may may be, it does do a bit for us. It does confirm the whole detective/ mobster thing many people thought gumshoos would have with ratata, while adding a silly layer to the dynamic by having ratata do what rats do best... which is kinda neat, I guess. The species-specific Z-Move thing I'm actually a bit surprised about. Now we have to wonder just how many of these things there are and what makes them so special... which brings as back to questioning the specifics of the Z-move system as a whole. There's also the question of whether they're truly species-specific, or limited to just one form like the raichu one suggests... We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose. Pulverizing Pancake being (seemingly) event-locked is just, just why? Why would you do that, GameFreak...? |

If you think I'm going to pre-order this game just for Pulverizing Pancake...
You're damn right.

Doesn't seem to be a pre-order bonus so much as it is a wifi event that's gonna be out starting with the game's release and going on for a few months, like Torchic with X and Y, and the Shiny Beldum with OR/AS. Definitely getting it, of course, once I download my main version off the eShop. Which will happen as soon as it becomes available (still haven't decided which version yet- leaning towards Moon, provided version exclusivity isn't gonna come into play).

But of course! It's not even a full reveal, just something to quell our hunger for more until the real deal coming on the sixth. Besides, we already kinda suspected that rattata would be a thing anyway.

It was just a small portion of the much larger 3DS direct, which is why we're still getting another batch of announcements in 5 days rather than another two weeks.

The fact this battle animation exists confuses and enrages me:
The Z-Moves are so ridiculous and over the top, with like the explosive beams and light engulfing the opponent. They look so...tacky? |
