Stuff I've been listening too today is pretty much "music featured on House."

Also, the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Big-band version of 'Stray Cat Strut' is like pure happiness for your ears.

Have been listening to this all day. Don't know why. Also "Beautiful Day" by U2.

It's not really that long, there's 3/4 minutes of silence for some reason. |

So Nightwish singer Annette left the band two days ago, one month before their movie hits theaters and right in the middle of their NA tour. They immediately brought in another singer from ReVamp named Floor Jansen, and she's a soprano, so hearing her sing at the Seattle show last night at an octave or two lower is crazy, but she pulls it off and somehow she gets way more into the concert than Annette did.

Cute. Fun to see choral instructors who humor their students' interests like this. My choir teacher in middle school always chose the songs herself. Now, admittedly she had pretty good taste! But it was pretty much all of her own personal favorites which were also within reach of a bunch of 13, 14, and 15-year olds. Nothing like this.
Although I've just gone and assumed that the kids wanted to sing these. Would be pretty effing hysterical if this was 100% the teacher's idea 'cause she's a Pokémaniac and the kids were all "Ugh, Pokémon!? D:"

Temper Trap are amazing : D Oooh, I really like that Reverend And The Makers song. I'll have to check out more of their stuff~ Recently I've become really re-obsessed with Passion Pit. Examples of good tunes include this, this and this. |

Shuffling songs between computer and new-old iPhone --> currently rediscovering my love of Olga Tańon, specifically Como Olvidar. Pretty sure I have plugged this song in this thread before, @ self, so ...
... here's another song I'm pretty sure I've plugged before, but I have a request for those of you who consider yourself experts on musical genres. What genre would you classify the ending theme song to John Woo's Red Cliff as? I am at a complete loss. IMO it's not pop -- it's too serious, epic, and powerful for that -- but it's not classical either -- putting aside the fact that it has lyrics, it definitely has a lot of the elements you find in pop music. It's not anything I know a word for. I actually called it "Cinema" for all of two seconds before thinking "That's silly " and deleting that. What would you call it? "Serious Business Pop"? But no, seriously, help a brother out. If you know what this kind of music is called, give me its name please. As for a song I'm sure will be new to the thread ... um ... well, I'm pretty sure I haven't posted L'Arc-en-Ciel's "Driver's High", the opening to Great Teacher Onizuka, here before. So there you go. Something new. Which also turned thirteen years old this past June.

Been listening to all of the old Feeder. Like, when I started listening to them back in 2001, they were stupidly good. Echo Park and Comfort in Sound are two of my favourite albums ever.
Also listening to Amy Winehouse's old stuff, The Verve, RHCP, REM, Bob Marley, The Smashing Pumpkins, Velvet Underground, etc. |

"JoJo ~Sono Chi no Sadame~"
Admittedly linking this as much for the video as for the song; but the song is quite the interesting surprise for an anime. A jazz-rock hybrid melody that recalls James Bond or its parody piece Austin Powers. Don't expect this link to work for long: apparently Shueisha is aggressive with their YouTube takedowns and pretty much every other copy of this opening's already been demolished. Watch it while you can! Now for a completely different flavor of music ... "this day, and never again" "You Are My King" And finally ... REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling" EDIT: XFD, they took down the first video AS I WROTE UP THE POST. hahahahahahahaha Wow. Well, here's the audio at least. No video though. |

Spent my birthday drinking whiskey and smoking rolled cigarettes and listening to Tom Waits. I am proud and profoundly sad at the same time. |

Thanks for sharing Talon, that's a nice video. I really like that they didn't do anything ridiculous with it.
This is a really cool, related, video. |
