TheKnight’sFury:

The lone Krabby standing between Trieu and Jormungand, holding the former hostage in its pincers, certainly talks a big talk... but realistically, it knows it stands no chance against a Gyarados. The Leer isn't even necessary - all it takes is one good look at the serpent's Intimidating face, and the crab yelps and releases Trieu without question. And from there, things only go downhill for the poor crustacean, as a storm of needles rains down upon it, punctuated by a violent Thunderbolt that fries the Krabby in a matter of seconds.

As for Odysseus, the small miscalculation has already cost him some vitality, as the Mud Shot from behind hit the only major chink in the Magnemite's armor. However, despite the weakness to ground moves, Ody is still considerably stronger than the wild Krabby thanks to Jayson's training, and the Water-Type knows it. The vicious Spark that follows sends the crustacean flying out of the arena, and that's the last anyone sees of it.

Once the round is over, Sawk gets back to his feet and congratulates the trio on their success; at the same time, the crowd in the town square has begun to increase in number again, many Pokemon returning to see those that may well be the successors of the Village's hero.

"I knew from the moment I saw you that you were special, but you're more than that... you aren't wild Pokemon, are you?" Sawk asks, failing to hide the sadness in his voice. That realization has implications, of course - the fighter must have understood that the trio belong elsewhere. Still, he does not relent. "Nevermind. Still two more rounds to go, yes? That is, if you think you can take it."

However, he doesn't even wait for answer before playing the Flute again, this time twice. And sure enough, after less than a minute, commotion begins to rise outside of town.

"Hmm, this scent... Well, this is interesting," notes Sawk even before the next foes appear. "I wonder if you'll make it past this round..."

Indeed, a particular smell washes over the square, though Odysseus cannot sense it. It is a mixture of sweet and nauseating, and soon the source reveals itself: bobbing their heads back and forth, three Vileplume come to the arena enticed by the strange tune of the White Flute! As they approach, countless small blades of grass begin to miraculously sprout from the seemingly sterile clay floor of the arena... it's a Grassy Terrain!

*Odysseus gained 2 Levels!*
*Jormungand gained 2 Levels!*
*Trieu gained 2 Levels!*

Everything had went to plan this time, they quickly dispatched the remaining Krabby without taking any more damage themselves. Trieu was pleased with her effort, she had contributed just as much as her companions. She had to admit that she almost bit off a bit more than she could chew. She would likely have to be more careful in the following waves, the last thing she wanted was to be a burden.

The Sawk was soon back on his feet, flute in hand as he commended their efforts so far. He was quick to bring on the second wave, playing an alluring tune that soon drew in a fragrant trio of Vileplume. Their presence seemed to awaken the earth beneath them, causing a Grassy Terrain to sprout. Odysseus was aware of the field effect, it would heal the Vileplume and themselves. Additionally, Grass moves would be stronger.

"Three on three let's take them down", buzzed Odysseus as Jormungand replied with a low growl and Trieu with an excited chatter of her mandibles. Odysseus knew these opponents would be stronger than the last, so he prepared to assist Trieu. He prepared to fire a Thunder Wave at the Vileplume approaching the Skorupi, the paralysis would likely make it easier for the Skorupi to handle. Odysseus was then ready to let loose a Flamethrower at the Grass type across from himself, which he would then follow with an Ice Beam on the same Vileplume.

Jormungand was eager to get ahold of the approaching Vileplume. His mouth filled with flames as he prepared to bathe the one across from him in a Flamethrower. He would quickly follow that up with a Dragon Rage.

Trieu could see her partners preparing and was quick to sort herself out. She would spray the Vileplume closest to her with a Pin Missle before following with a Knock Off and another Leech Life.

TheKnight’sFury:

This time it’s a three-on-three challenge, and one that Jayson’s team seems more than equipped to handle – between Jormungand’s innate flame abilities and Odysseus’s strangely unnatural ones, victory over any Grass-Type Pokemon seems to be a foregone conclusion, regardless of terrain.

Odysseus quickly deduces that, among the three of them, Trieu is least equipped to handle the oncoming threat, and attempts to even the playing fielf by inducing Paralysis on the Vileplume in front of her. A golden pulse of ight pierces through the living plant, causing its muscles (?) to cramp up and spasm, hampering its already slow movements.

Welcoming the opening, Trieu lets loose a storm of needles that hit their mark repeatedly, then tenses up to hit a close-range Knock Off. However, in her eagerness, she fails to sense the change in scents in the air, and once she lunges at her foe, she is surprised to see that its freedom of movements is restored, and the scorpion is pushed back by a violent Petal Blizzard, enpowered by the Grassy Terrain, before she is able to land the melee hit! It is only then that she understands that one of the other Vileplume must have healed her prey with Aromatherapy… Fortunately she is innately resistant to grass moves, or the blow would have been much more severe. She does get some manner of revenge, however, as she digs her needles into Vileplume’s side and drains part of its vitality to lessen her own pain.

Meanwhile, the sapphite tower Jormungand stares at his own foe all the way down below, and almost nonchalantly belches out a stream of flames that severely injures the second Vileplume. Fire envelops he plant and begins to burn away its petals, but midway through the slow roasting, the giant serpent starts to feel somewhat… nauseous. Shifting his gaze briefly, he sees that the third Vileplume has taken aim at him, intent on saving its partner before nothing but ash remains. As the sickly sensantion continues to spread, Jormungand realizes he’s been afflicted by Toxic and, enraged by the cowardly tactic, utterly incinerates the poor Vileplume already ablaze with the blue fire of Dragon Rage. When the blazes die down, nothing remains of the Grass-Type.

Intent on retaliating against the Vileplume who poisoned Jormungand, the Analytic Odysseus taps into his foreign powers and releases a Flamethrower of his own from… from… well, he just does. The fire stream finds its mark, setting alight the petals of the third Vileplume, before a drastic change in temperature blasts it in the form of an Ice Beam. The doubly-effective assault critically injures the Grass-Type, who wobbles from one side to another simply to stay on its feet, a strangely dizzying sequence of anarchic body movements that resemble a Teeter Dance… Odysseus is caught in the hypnotic dance and suddenly he, too, feels unspeakably disoriented.

“The danger of these Vileplume isn’t necessarily in their raw power; it’s simply unfortunate that you ran into them on your second round rather than the last, because of their crippling tactics,” muses the Sawk.

Indeed, although one of the Vileplume has been dealt with and another is on the brink of fainting, Jormungand is now badly poisoned and Odysseus confused. Trieu, the theoretically weakest of the three, remains healthy, as does her direct opponent, both invigorated by the healing properties of the Terrain – but although the massive difference in power between Jayson’s Pokemon and the wild Vileplume has been conclusively established, can they finish the job? And if so, in what condition will they be in for the final round?...

Median Dia:

While a Mawile might seem out of place in this environment, a Staryu and Inkay seem to fit right in with Bubbling Beach’s locals, and that might be what urged the Clauncher to approach them more so than the intangible “adventurer aura” that it supposedly sensed. To the crustacean, this seems to be a matter of life or death, the realization of a dream – and his desperation is palpable. If only for that, and no small amount of curiosity thrown in the mix, the trio decides to help. Interestingly, none of them seem to have noticed Clauncher’s mention of “making it all the way to the summit”, even though they’re… on a flat beach.

“Oh thank you thank you thank you!” exclaims the Clauncher, snapping his pincers in satisfaction. “With you guys here I finally have a shot! Tell you what, meet me right here at nightfall, will you? That’s when the fun begins!”

Louise looks at the sky to see it probably won’t take long until sunset. The trio decide to go for a stroll and return later, but their exploration of the shore to pass time yields nothing more than a boring-looking Damp Rock that, for some reason, Miapladicus was interested in keeping.

---

A couple of hours later, with a full moon visible in the starry sky, Chroma’s trio returns to the agreed spot and find that a lot has changed. Dozens of Pokemon have gathered by the seaside and are staring in awe and anticipation at the water, where a countless number of red lights shine intermittently. Approaching the scene, Mia is pleased to find that these lights belong to a massive horde of its own kind, hundreds of Staryu and Starmie flashing their ruby-like gems in rhythmic, almost hypnotic fashion.

“You actually came back! Oh boy, am I glad to see you!”

Clauncher comes running to meet the group with a wide grin, before pointing to the shore and finally offering the explanation that was long overdue.

“Guess it’s about time I tell you what this is all about, eh? So here’s the thing… The Festival of the Stars isn’t much of a party, I’m afraid. It’s actually a ritual performed every year by the local starfish, who gather here on a full moon to communicate with their protector up there in the sky. You see… they come here to meet Jirachi. Thing is, it’s become sort of a tradition among other Pokemon to also try and reach Jirachi on this night, and those who do usually get their wish granted!”

Just then, the Staryu lights stop flickering and become fixed, turning the whole sea red. The ground beneath the team’s feet starts to rumble, and the group watches as a mountain of wet sand begins to rise from the ocean, conjured by the starfish’s strange psychic powers! It grows larger and larger, stretching towards the night sky like a sandy Tower of Babylon, and once it finally stops growing, it has become impossible to see the peak. Then, slowly, the Staryu and Starmie crawl out of the water and begin to climb up the mountain to meet their guardian deity…

It is then that most of the Pokemon who’d been watching by shore suddenly rush towards the summoned mountain themselves in a frenzy, and that’s Clauncher’s cue.

“Come on guys, we have to hurry!” he says frantically. “We have to reach the summit before anyone else, or we won’t get our wishes granted!”

So this is now a race to the top, amidst a horde of psychic starfish that likely don’t want to be disturbed and a bunch of Pokemon fighting to earn a wish from Jirachi… Is the trio still on board with this? If so, how will they tackle this challenge?

Her eyes opened, sobs a little quieter as the duo joined forces to try and shatter the tomb and release the rocky child, but the very faint hope in the Steelix's eyes faded away.

Their attacks had barely left scratches.

"There's nothing you can do to free him," The beast sobbed, shaking her head, muscles visibly rolling in their slots, "It's happening all over the mountain. The Pokemon who are frozen by the Mother of the Snow are stuck like this forever, she'll haunt and hunt until we're all just statues!" The mourning mother bellowed, this eerie conclusion echoing around the mountainside until all that was left was the relentless storm and her sounds of sadness, "You should go back, or it'll happen to you, too. All three of you..."

It seemed Kami's concern might have been correct. The other two had used rather taxing abilities when there was at least one dangerous adversary roaming their path, and it had taken out Pokemon greater than them. With this in mind, what do they do?
It was futile. No matter how hard they tried, neither Jin nor Kyuki could leave a dent in the ice armour that encased the Onix.

Defeated, the ice fox turned around looking downcast. Jin tried to comfort it, but the Vulpix shrugged him off; he needed a moment to collect his thoughts. Ice, which had accompanied since birth - hailstorms walked behind him wherever he went since he could remember - was actually a murderous, relentless force. It was the first time Kyuki considered that side of the element, the first time it saw what ice could do to living creatures. Ice was not just a beautiful natural phenomenon... it was also death. How had he failed to see it? Was he too... a harbinger of that very death?

Not at all, Vulpix. Everyone around you loves to be pelted by your Hail.

With that, the Abra turned around and floated further up the mountain. He was admittedly curious to meet this Mother of Snow - was it as ancient as himself? There was nothing he could learn from all the new, finite life that surrounded him, all sense of wonder and discovery long lost in countless cycles of death and rebirth... but the idea of meeting one as old as him was a glimmer of curiosity in an otherwise unremarkable, predictable world.

Jin took a deep breath not to swing at Kami - fruitless as that attempt would be - and whispered some words of encouragement to the emotionally shattered Kyuki, then gave his condolences to the grieving Steelix mother. Regardless of what awaited them further up the mountain, they were doing this for the Vulpix, who still couldn't shake off the peak's calling... and part of him was doing it for himself as well, the side of him that nurtured the utopian dream of returning to Sai an even better warrior than the monk. And that, he knew, would not come easily or without suffering.

And so, each moved by their own reasons, the trio pressed onward to the summit.

*Jormungand has gained 1 Level!*

Things were once again, not going exactly as planned. While one Vileplume was swiftly dealt with by Jormungand, Trieu struggled against her opponent while Odysseus failed to dispose of his. To make matters worse, Jormungand had been afflicted with toxic poisoning, which would hurt him at an ever increasing rate. Odysseus had been confused by Teeter Dance, greatly reducing his effectiveness in battle.

Even with his mind scrambled, Odysseus was still able to string together some coherent thought. He knew he had to help Jormungand overcome his poisoning. The Gyarados was their best chance at making it through this trial, if he was to succumb to the toxins then they were pretty much done for. The felled Vileplume had used Aromatherapy prior to its demise, perhaps the Magnemite could Mimic the technique. He knew he was confused but he would attempt to copy the move a few times and use it immediately to relieve Jormungand.

The Gyarados stared down at the Vileplume that Trieu had been battling. The Skorupi had tried admirably to defeat the Grass type but herself, but it appeared she needed his help. "Trieu you take the other one, help Odysseus." The Skorupi quickly zipped over to the other Vileplume, clearing a path for Jormungand to attack. Another Flamethrower gathered in the Gyarados's maw, he was then prepared to send the Vileplume on its way with a Twister.

Trieu dashed towards the weakened Vileplume, intent on proving to Jormungand that she was capable of following his orders and finishing what Odysseus started. She prepared to take the Grass type on with a Feint Attack and then Slash at it repetitively until it fell before her.

Recent science has declared that stars weren't merely twinkling spots upon the skyscape, but absolutely massive entities far, far beyond the reach of human technology. Perhaps the scene before the travelers was still much smaller in scale than that, but there was no denying that all these stars were larger than specks and twinkling beautifully. In some ways, the sea really could be compared to the vast vacuum of space...

"Yeah, we came back. It's rude to just bail on someone like that," Louise replied to the clauncher's exclamation. "And we already figured that it wouldn't be much of a walk in the park, given how panicky you were about it earlier."

'Protector?' Mia/Plad echoed as the lobster continued his exposition. 'I wasn't aware that this place had one.'

And then the big reveal dropped, followed by a surprised chorus from all three adventurers.

"Rekamhsiw eht teem ot tsrif eht eb ot tnaw uoy os?" Elen tried to confirm, the fact that he was probably confusing the mission giver still flying over his mantle.

Louise looked over at the massive tower of sand suddenly erected itself from amidst a less twinkly and more red sea. "Well, that may have gotten a bit trickier. You need to climb your way up there?" She tapped her foot into the sand, trying to come up with a plan- scaling sheer heights wasn't exactly in her field of expertise, much less with countless others attempting to do the same. "This... might be possible. I can't guarantee anything, but an idea is better than nothing. Miapladicus, do you think you can get me up there quicly?"

'Not with your weight,' the staryu answered dryly.

"That's easily fixed. Elen, hold this!" The mawile tossed toward the Adventure Bag, and its damp contents, toward the squid and focused her energy to Rise off the ground Magnetically. "Fair warning, clauncher: if this works, you're probably going to wind up a little disoriented." She held the Star Shape pokemon in a light, yet firm, manner, and took a deep breath. "Now, Mia/Plad, use Rapid Spin to get up there as quickly as possible!" And just like that, the two of them took off, leaving crustacean and cephalopod alone on the beach.

The disorienting part? If they got to the top, Louise intended to use Ally Switch to get the clauncher up there in her stead. Of course, that was a very big if...

TheKnight’sFury:

Jormungand, aware of his own strength, knows he can finish what Trieu started. And despite his own condition, he selflessly sends the Skorupi to aid their partner, Odysseus, who has succumbed to confusion. Trieu seems to agree with the strategy – after all, the Vileplume targeting the Magnemite is definitely on its last legs!

The Poison-Type darts across the arena in a dizzying motion, shifting direction so fast and aso often that she leaves afterimages behind, making it impossible for the weakened Vileplume to trace her motions. And once in range, she leaps forward and slashes her target a single time with darkness-infused needles. After a dead-silent stalemate that seems to last for hours, the living plant suddenly passes out, still on its feet, before collapsing to the ground.

Odysseus struggles to even get a proper grasp of what’sgoing on, but the lingering notion that a teammate needed his help endures amidst the chaos that is his mind right now. At first he fails to do much of anything, aimlessly rotating his magnets to no effect whatsoever, andit’s a blessing that Trieu stepped in to knock out his foe, otherwise he’d have been easy pickings for the Vileplume in his dazed state. On the second attempt, however, his Analytic mindset helps him focus and remember two things: what needed to be done, and what he had to imitate to accomplish it. And so, spinning his magnets at full speed, Odysseus manages to centrifuge and collect the scattering perfume particles still in the air, emulating another Aromatherapy as well as a synthetic lifeform could hope to achieve. Fact of the matter is, it seems to work, as Jormungand feel the overwhelming nausea begin to fade, until no trace of poison remains in his bloodstream.

Reinvigorated, the dragon roars arches his head back, gathering fire for the decisive strike. At the same time, the last remaining Vileplume stands defiant in the face of overwhelming odds, and bravely fires a Petal Blizzard at its colossal adversary. To no avail, however, as the stream of flames that follows burns away every last petal before any hit their mark, and once the Grass-Type is engulfed by the Flamethrower, it’s all over.

The trio has been successful one more time, though not without some considerable effort. Jormungand and Odysseus have been cured of their ailments thanks to some quick thinking by the latter, but consecutive use of powerful moves such as Flamethrowers and Ice Beams have left both feeling worn out. Trieu seems to be the healthier of the three, but she too is starting to feel the effects of back-to-back battles… Unfortunately for them, once the last Vileplume faints, the Grassy Terrain withers and vanishes, leaving only lifeless clay in its place.

“Congratulations youngsters,” cheers Sawk. Judging by his reaction, it seems he doubted the party’s success for a moment. “Well, enough of warming up. Are you ready for the real challenge? It’s been a while since I called my old friends…”

The blue warrior walked back to center of the battlefield, inhaled deeply and played the Flute a third time. Once… twice… three times. And mere moments after the last melancholic note echoed across Vivacious Village, the answer came – not from the woods or the beach nearby, not from outside town at all, but from the crowd that had gathered.

“That’s cruel of you, old Sawk...”

“Asking us to pummel these three when they’re already gasping for air…”

Grinning and cracking their joints in anticipation, an Electivire and Magmortar step in the arena while sizing up Jayson’s three partners.

“I met these two as an Elekid and Magby way back when I came to this village,” says Sawk, smiling at the sight of his friends. “First they were admirers… in time, they became my best sparring partners. And now, they will be your last opponents in the White Flute Challenge.”

Magmortar laughs as embers escape his deadly arm cannons.

“Your last opponents, period!”

Median Dia:

At first, Clauncher looks thoroughly confused at Miapladicus and Louise planning to leave him behind. It’shis wish, his glory on the line! But once the Mawile explains the final part of his plan, the crustacean can’t help but grin – as it turns out, he won’t even have to move a muscle to beat everyone else. That suits him just fine!

Elen stands behind with the Clauncher, keeping watch over the team’s possessions, while Mia starts spinning in place and then ascending, before taking off like an oversized Water Shuriken – with Louise holding on for dear life to the rapidly rotating starfish, trying not to vomit or lose her grip. Given how fast Mia is spinning, letting go could likely mean an aerial trip to the summit of the Frozen Fjords.

As Mia goes, rapidly ascending the summoned mountain, it seems as though the local Staryu become interested in the tactic, as if they’d never considered it before. Those which have mastered the move in the wild prepare to emulate Louise’s idea, but Mia already has quite the momentum advantage over all of them. At first, everything seems to be working out…

… Until suddenly, Louise feels herself stopping abruptly. Looking up, she sees a massive hand grabbing hold of Miapladicus by one of its five appendages.

“No way you’re getting to the top before me,” shouts a deep, roaring voice. It’s a gigantic Slaking!

As the grip tightens, Mia’s light flickers rapidly, indicating pain.

“If anyone is getting their wish granted, that’s me,” growls Slaking ominously. “Jirachi will rid me of my Truant condition, and I will be the mightiest Slaking in the world!”

Things have taken a sharp turn for the worse… what will happen now?!

*Trieu has gained 2 Levels!*

Although their statuses were cleared and they had beaten the Vileplume, they now found themselves against a pair of opponents who they knew would be much more challenging. The Electivire and Magmortar were both fully evolved Pokemon and to make matters worse, they had type advantages against all of them. Magmortar would be able to burn Trieu and Odysseus into the ground, while the Electric attacks from the Electivire would dispose of the quad weak Jormungand in a matter of moments. They needed to be careful here, one wrong step would see them finished. If their trainer was here, Jayson might have an idea of how they could beat the powerful pair. However they now had to work together if they had any hope of winning.

Odysseus quickly shot out in front of his partners, not wanting them to get caught in his next attack. He let out a Supersonic blast, hoping to scramble the Magmortar and Electivire like the Vileplume had scrambled him.

Jormungand was concerned, the Electivire the reason for his wavered mind. He didn't deal well with Electric attacks, no Gyarados did. But the Magmortar had the potential to finish both Trieu and Odysseus, he knew he must put his own concerns aside and concentrate on taking down the lava spewer first. He prepared to strike with an Aqua Tail to bat the Magmortar away, then drown it in a Hydropump to hopefully deal a brutal blow to the fire type.

Odysseus could see the Gyarados gathering water around his tail and knew exactly what he planned to do. The Magnemite prepared to give his friend a Helping Hand so that his Hydropump would be even more powerful.

Trieu could see that Jormungand was preparing to use Aqua Tail, the Gyarados had spent time training her how to use it herself. She prepared to strike the Magmortar with an Aqua Tail of her own. But first she would apply some Acupressure to herself, any boost would be welcome against this pair of opponents. Lastly she would try and poison the Electivire with a Poison Sting, hoping it would make it easier to handle when they turned their attention towards it.

With this in mind, the Whimsicott waves his little arms and summons a gale of his own, determined to show Shiftry that he, too, can manipulate wind – a powerful Fairy Wind, to be precise!

The sparkling gust blows over the Forest Lord, speckles of light exploding on contact with its wooden skin and damaging him more than any draining move of Cerno’s ever could. Visibly bothered by the technique, Shiftry flaps his fans and summons a Tailwind of his own, the opposite masses of air cancelling each other out – and that’s just the opening Spiritus and Tengu were looking for! With the wind dying down, the duo repeats their previous combination attack, showering Shiftry with a downpour of blazing seeds that sets the already Burned Grass-Type on fire!

Shiftry wobbles and loses his footing, but continues to smile even as his hair and leaf fans are set ablaze. Sensing the shift in the tide of battle, the army of Passimian grows restless and prepares to invade the clearing, but a single arm raise by the other Lord, Oranguru, quiets the horde.

“Very well,” Shiftry suddenly says weakly, “there is merit to your teamwork after all. Now for the final test…”

Struggling to get back to his feet, the Lord raises his fans once more, then flaps them a single time. No Hurricane or Tailwind follow this time around, however; in fact, nothing seems to happen at all…

“Have you heard of the legendary Kamaitachi?” Shiftry inquires, with a hint of amusement in his whispered voice. “A gust that can cut through anything… A true Razor Wind. It will come soon…”

He shifts his gaze to Spiritus and continues to smile through the pain.

“You, phantom, are immune to its invisible blade… but what about your friends? Could you bear seeing them sliced in half? Be it Seedot or Whimiscott, no living creature can avoid being severed in two by the mighty edge that approaches” he taunts. “Can you finish me before my Razor Wind comes?”

The final challenge has been issued. Can the team step up to this last ordeal and end the battle before it’s too late?

Shocked by the Shiftry's announcement the Litwick had to think quickly. Suddenly Spiritus had an idea, turning to Cerno first he spoke confidently, "don't worry about him just keep attacking." The Cottonee nodded and fired another fairy wind at the lord. This one had all his effort in it and all his will and determination to defeat the lord. As his fellow pokemon attacked he directed a minimize in his companion's direction. The litwick hoped that this would help the damage from the razor wind be less likely to hit. Finally, he turned to Tengu "Harden as much as you can my friend. Cerno's wind should finish him off in combination with our burn." The Seedot nodded, as much as a Seedot can nod, ad concentrated on hardening his body and preventing as much damage to himself as possible. The minimize hit Cerno after he had fired his attack so his attack wasn't shrunk in power. The three pokemon prepared for the wind to hit and prayed they would survive the encounter. Their adventure was almost over and they would receive their reward. Hopefully it would be something useful for any of the pokemon present at that moment. Evolution items would be ideal but any sort of boost to the under leveled pokemon would be super helpful. Their trainer had so many pokemon who she loved individually, but even with the improved government level gains were slow and rare candy was weekly but still precious. Hopefully all of Kawaii's pokemon would receive the training they deserved.

TheKnight’sFury:

The real challenge starts now; it almost feels like the first two rounds were a simple warm-up, judging by these foe’s looks alone. And to make matters worse, each of them have mastery over elements which are very dangerous to Jayson’s partners…

Understanding the need to seize control of the flow of battle early on, Odysseus quickly formulates a plan – but can he move fast enough?
Magmortar, seeing the Magnemite break away from the pack, immediately raises his arm cannon, gathering fire for a Flame Burst that will melt the steel creature and catch the puny insect in the blast radius! However, when the time comes to shoot, the Fire-Type is assaulted by a violent migraine that disrupts his concentration, cancelling the move – Magmortar is confused! His partner doesn’t seem to have been as affected, but he too is feeling the effects of the ear-splitting Supersonic.

Capitalizing on the opening provided by Odysseus, Jormungand swings his water-infused tail, striking Magmortar square in the chest and sending him tumbling along the floor! Itthen falls on Trieu to follow up, moving quickly towards the fallen fire titan to hit an Aqua Tail of her own. However, before she can reach her destination, she is intercepted and violently struck from the side with a Fire Punch from Electivire that sends her flying back!

“Snap out of it, you’re letting them embarrass you,” dryly says the Electric-Type as he helps his companion to his feet, before slapping him across the face.

“Damn it, you’re right,” grumbles Magmortar once he comes back to his senses. “Guess we gotta start taking this seriously. Ready to kick things up a notch?”

With that, Magmortar drives a Thunder Punch straight into his partner’s gut! The electricity spreads throughout Electivire’s body, and immediately thereafter, his movements seem to become much faster and more fluid, courtesy of his Motor Drive

Intent on not letting the enemies recover any longer, Jormungand roars and spits out a massive jet of water, which only seems to grow in size and pressure once Odysseus’s magnets start to resonate with the stream, providing a useful Helping Hand. The attack is aimed at Magmortar once more, but the much nimbler Electivire steps in once again, raising a Light Screen that filters the raging current down to a much softer blow, barely enough to make Magmortar lose his balance…

Realizing the threat that the duo is quickly becoming, Trieu, still reeling from the previous Fire Punch, tries to power herself up to match her terrifying foes; she drives one of her own needles into her skin, and the resulting pain only makes her more eager to fight back, sharply increasing her Attack! .Then, knowing they can’t afford to ignore Electivire, she fires a salvo of Poison Sting at the ape, but the enemy’s heightened speed allows him to dodge most of the projectiles; the ones that graze him definitely hurt, but fail to induce any long-lasting poisoning…

“You’re a spunky little bug, we’ll give you that,” taunts Magmortar, who retains his horridgrin despite the punishment he’s already endured.

“I wonder how tough you are without your friends around, though…” muses Electivire.

While the two have played defensively for most of the round, they are now ready to retaliate in force, and what Jormungand had feared turns out to happen. A massive pillar of Thnder strikes the Gyarados down from above, smiting the dragon and sending him to the ground, muscles cramping up uncontrollably as [i]Paralysis[7b] and pain overwhelm him. At the same time, a Daimonji-shaped Fire Blast explodes into Odysseus, sending the living magnet crashing down to earth and leaving him in just as bad a state as Jormungand. All Trieu can do is watch as her companions fall around her, beaten up to the brink of passing out.

“I think the feeling-out process is done,” declares Electivire. “If there was ever a time for you three to go all-out, you better start thinking about it.”

Even though Magmortar has taken considerable damage, the enemies seem overwhelmingly powerful, are protected by a Light Screen and one has a dangerous Speed boost. But even so, they seem to believe Jayson’s partners are yet to reveal their true power… is that true?

Kawaiiconcept:

A timer has been set by the fading Shiftry, an ominous announcement of disaster to come. Kamaitachi, the Razor Wind, is said by some to be a weapon of the gods, a divine invisible blade of wind that strikes without mercy – and the Grass-Type has just summoned it.

The choice presented to the three is whether they will prepare to endure the hit, or try to finish the fight before it ever comes. It seems, however, that the team chooses to do a little bit of both – rather than go all-out an try to wipe out what remains of Shiftry’s vitality, they split efforts into attacking and defending. Perhaps that is not the wisest…

Commanding the troops, Spiritus instructs Tengu to defend as best as he can, Hardening his shell as much as possible to hopefully endure the oncoming hit. It then falls on Cerno to provide the offense and, perhaps realizing better than anyone else the true importance of disposing of the enemy before it’s too late, the Whimsicott puts every last ounce of strength he has into summoning a powerful Fairy Wind. The wind picks up progressively, gaining power until it becomes a gale of silver powder that burns shiftry on contact, the light particles striking the Dark tree over and over again – but are they enough to topple the Lord on their own, with absolutely no attack from the other companions to follow up?

When the Fairy Wind dies down, Shiftry remains standing, eyes glazed over but not yet fallen, and just as promised, the Razor Wind comes, blowing in opposite direction. A gigantic wind edge falls from the sky, and that’s when Spiritus attempts to protect his partner by… Minimizing it? It seems to have slipped the Litwick’s mind that only he can shrink in size, and not transfer that property to another Pokemon. And as a result of that miscalculation, he has to watch as Razor Wind cuts mercilessly through Cerno, who falls to the ground incapacitated, and then through Tengu, who is left barely clinging on to a shred of consciousness when it’s all done.

But finally, mercifully, the Lord faints soon thereafter, exhausted by pain and energy spent, collapsing like a dead tree in the middle of the clearing. Despite the risks they took, and despite Cerno fainting before the end, the team has ultimately been successful!

The Oranguru stands up and orders the Passimian around the arena to settle down, then helps the Shiftry to his feet before addressing he Litwick, Whimsicott and Seedot.

“You were brave, even if you still have much to learn. We were… entertained. Those two boxes are yours; one gift from me, and one from Shiftry. Take them, and you have our permission to leave whenever you wish. We are glad to have met you, little Pokemon full of heart.”

Spiritus opens Oranguru’s small box, finding 1x Heart Scale inside, whereas Tengu opens Shiftry’s box and retrieves the precious Leaf Stone it contains.

And with that, their adventure is over, the first time they have ever journeyed the world without company of their human Trainer. Hopefully, in doing so, they learned the importance of teamwork and the miracles it can achieve.

*Cerno gained 2 Levels!*
*Tengu gained 2 Levels!*
*Spiritus gained 2 Levels*

((Thanks for playing, hope you enjoyed your time in II! As a parting word of advice, don’t forget to look up what each attack does before ordering them – even in an RP context, sometimes it’s just not possible for the updater to overlook some mechanics; in this particular case, Minimize is an attack that only the user can pull off, and not force something else to shrink. Something to keep in mind for future adventures!))

Fortunately, Mio remains grounded and level-headed enough to instruct the party: she and Kei attempt to shatter the stone barrier, while Momo tries his best to measure up to the angry giant – a scenario the lazy Sylveon would much rather avoid altogether, but whose inevitability becomes ever more apparent as Tyrantrum draws nearer...

Kei goes to work on the wall, employing the same technique as before, and fortunately with similar results: with every claw thrust of his Brick Break, the Tomb breaks further and further apart. Meanwhile, Momo finally finds it within him to turn around and face the oncoming threat!

The ground shakes violently with every step of the rampaging Tyrantrum, and it takes every ounce of courage still dormant within the consummate coward to make Momo stand his ground and summon his newfound fairy energy. He channels it in his ribbons and the faintest of breezes begins to blow inside the cave, growing progressively in intensity.
It is at that moment that Kei manages to completely shatter the wall, and in the blink of an eye, the team is reunited against the looming threat! Tyrantrum is now within arm’s reach, jaw agape, ready to devour them while the Fairy Wind is yet to pick up proper force… but the giant stops is charge abruptly, inches away from the group. Once the magical gale is strong enough, Tyrantrum is already completely stationary, eyeing down the party as the damaging wind pelts away at him…

“Why?” he growls, all trace of anger gone and replaced by genuine curiosity. “Why would you risk your lives for such a pathetic, honourless creature? What is he to you that you would defy the Ancient?... Small Pikachu, small Charmander, both filled with such remarkable potential… why would you throw it away for his sake?”

Was it all a test? Was Tyrantrum’s ourburst of fury a façade? Or was he so genuinely touched by Mio and Kei’s dedication that his fury was quelled by the display of foolish bravery? Whatever the reason behind the Ancient’s sudden change in behaviour, it falls on the Pikachu and Charmander to provide an answer and satisfy the titan’s curiosity - unless, of course, they plan to continue the fight while his guard is down…
Mio opens her mouth in order to reply to the question she was just asked but is cut off before she even gets a word out. “I did it guys! I attacked the Ancient! Did you see it??” Momo begins to boast to the pair who had emerged from the Rock Tomb. “Momo… Shut. Up. He is literally right in front of us listening to every word that comes out of your mouth.” Mio is completely exasperated at this point. “Yeah? Well it’s not like it’s a secret. I’m pretty sure he’s already well aware.” Momo says very matter of factly. Mio just face palms and takes a deep breath in order to hold herself back from murdering Momo. Kei, feeling bad that the Ancient’s question had seemingly been ignored, begins to answer it himself, except he won’t make eye contact with the Ancient since his legs are already shaking out of fear and he is afraid looking at him may make him pass out.

“W-w-w-well he’s f-family and we l-l-love him v-very much!” Kei is having a hard time getting his words out so he begins to approach Momo, ready to hug him to prove his affection but Mio quickly gets between them before Kei has the chance. “I can assure you, that is most definitely not the reason. The reason is because our trainer would probably cry if we came home without Momo. I, on the other hand, would be perfectly happy feeding him to you but I do care about my trainer and don’t want to see her cry.” Mio just puts it all right out there, she has no problem with making eye contact with the Ancient and telling him exactly how it is. “… Well that was a very rude thing to say. But eh, it’s the truth.” Momo seems indifferent to Mio’s response. “T-that’s not true, Momo! I really do love you because you’re my family!” Kei is all flustered now and is feeling extra sad after hearing Mio’s bluntness. “Mhm, I know Kei. You love everyone.” Momo, who is still indifferent, has begun to groom one of his ribbons to pass the time. “As long as you know. I’m going to give you an extra big hug later.” Kei has all but forgotten about the Ancient’s presence and is just determined to prove his feelings to Momo. At this point, Mio is just beginning to feel uncomfortable. “Anyway! Now that you have the answer to your question, what do you want Ancient? If you want a fight I’m right here! Bring it on!” Mio gets into a fighting stance and waits for the Ancient’s next move.

They were fucked. Odysseus rarely slumped to obscenities but it accurately summoned up their situation. Trieu was too weak, Jormungand had been dealt a mighty blow and was paralyzed, while he himself was feeling worse for wear. They had little to no options left, Jayson would never trust him again. He was meant to be smart, he should have been able to devise an effective strategy. Jormungand was flailing hard, his tail slamming into the tough ground, shaking the earth with every blow............. "Eureka", cried the Magnemite as he finally thought of a solution. Gathering another burst of Aromatherapy to clear the Gyarados's paralysis, he cried out to his allies. "Trieu quickly climb on top of Jormungand", the Skorupi was quick to listen, leaping up onto the Gyarados's back. "Jormungand, use Earthquake as many times as you can, shake the life from their bodies!" Odysseus found himself rather erratic, a feeling he wasn't rather used to. He would boost Jormungand's Earthquakes with Helping Hand, it would be super effective against both opponents so the stronger the better.

Trieu was feeling rather neglected. Ordered to climb onto Jormungand's back, she climbed higher, up to rest atop his head. Their opponents looked mean and scary, but Trieu wanted to do her part to help. She began to prick Jormungand with Acupressure, planning to attempt it twice. Should Jormungand need her assistance however, she was ready to let a darker side of herself loose. She could feel the shadow power grow within her, it was time to release her Shadow Rave!

TheKnightsFury:
The situation had taken a turn for the worst, but maybe not all was lost. Sawk watched on from the sidelines, sitting indian-style with a look of peaceful curiosity, knowing that the match could go either way. But he, much like Electivire, seemed confident that Jayson’s trio still had something up their non-existent sleeves…

Odysseus knows that the only one with enough power to stand up to the duo is Jormungand, and supporting him should be the priority. That nagging paralysis could prove troublesome, but fortunately, he still recalls how to get rid of it, thanks to that Vileplume from earlier… His magnets start spinning one more time, releasing a fragrant scent in the air that refreshes the Gyarados, while Electivire silently orders Magmortar to stay still – as if he wants to fight the dragon at his best. However, the merciful wait ends as soon as Odysseus finishes his technique – just then, the Motor Drive-boosted Electivire dashes like lightning and strikes the Magnemite with a vicious Cross Chop that sends him flying out of the arena and crashing into one of the nearby mud huts; in the end, Odysseus can’t get back up, knocked out cold by the blow…

Meanwhile, heeding the fallen tactician’s instructions, Trieu has climbed atop Jormungand’s head, and attempts to boost the dragon with two consecutive Acupressures – the first hitting a chakra point, increasing Jormungand’s elemental strength, while the second seems to induce a relaxing feeling, increasing his resistance to energy attacks. Grateful for the help of his comrades, and intent on avenging Odysseus, the serpent fights through the pain coursing through his body and drives his tail into the ground with all he has. As a result, violent shockwaves spread throughout Vivacious Village, the Earthquake shaking the entire area with such force that fissures begin to spread and several huts fall over in ruins. Electivire falls on his back and is tossed around like a ragdoll, but manages to fight back to his feet, whereas his companion – after enduring an Aqua Tail and Hydro Pump – has no such resiliency. While Electivire prepares to retaliate, Magmortar does not rise again, knocked out by Jormungand’s devastating move.

“Nice going… I knew you were holding back,” growls Electivire as he struggles to catch his breath. “But so was I.”

Electricity surrounds the ape, like a golden armour of light, and the beast lunges at Jormungand with his heightened speed. Disregarding his own safety, Electivire rams his whole frame into the dragon with a vicious Wild Charge, causing the Water-Type to collapse like a broken tower and sending Trieu crashing to the ground as a result. Jormungand growls faintly, his vision blurry and darkened, as he attempts a second Earrhquake… but strength fails him and the dragon passes out from his accumulated injuries.

Limping but still going, Electivire stands over the slain giant before turning to Trieu with a disgusting grin.

“Well… only you left. But what can you do, little insect?”

Suddenly, Sawk speaks up, as the Skorupi tries to fight through the pain of the fall.

“I believed I’d taught you the value of humility, old friend… I hope you’re prepared for what that little insect can really do,” he says cryptically, sensing the shadows twist and turn inside Trieu’s heart, tainting her aura.

The Skorupi finally regains her footing, glares at Electivie with an ice-cold stare and her whole complexion seems to change. Darkness surrounds her as her eyes glow red, much to Electivire’s shock, and the collected shadows dance around her before vanishing in to the ground once more. But they don’t vanish for long: suddenly, pitch-black spikes of consolidated darkness erupt from the floor in quick succession, one after another, homing in on the Electric-Type until they impale him from below, followed by a violent explosion of shadows. When the dust settles, Electivire lies on the ground, knocked-out cold… while Trieu still stands, eyes glazed over but not yet unconscious! Jayson’s trio won!

A while later, once Jormungand and Ody have come back to, Sawk meets them at the center of the arena with a wide grin on his old, wrinkled face.

“I could tell you were special, but I never expected you to put on such a display. Both in raw power and teamwork, you have proven yourselves to be excellent – worthy of becoming my successors! I’m certain the eyes of the world will turn to Vivacious Village with you in the spotlight… There is nothing you cannot accomplish. So… what do you say? You’ll stay and continue my work, won’t you?...”

Patches:
The Ancient listens, his breathing heavy and coarse, as Mio and Kei offer vastly different explanations behind their motivations for not feeding Momo to the dragon. Tyrantrum shakes his head in silence upon hearing the Charmander’s reply in particular – such raw, unbridled potential wasted on such an emotionally frail creature…

But in the end, it seems to be Mio’s answer that pulls the Ancient’s strings. His eyes remain locked on the defiant Pikachu for quite a while, but he does not engage. Instead, he seems to tear up for a very brief moment, and when he speaks, his voice – still booming and imposing – seems to have lost its terrifying edge.

“You wouldn’t abandon that worthless Sylveon for your human’s sake, but you’d throw your own life away on foolish, rebellious pride… Silly rat,” he sighs, “how quickly you shift between remembering your Trainer’s feelings and forgetting them. She would cry for your death as much as Sylveon’s, if her human heart feels for you as you make it appear. The bond between Pokemon and humans… I never had it. I come from a time long before that bridge was ever built. My name has become my condition… “ancient”. I am a king without a kingdom, but you are peasants with a home.”

The dragon turns away from the three and walks over to the cave’s wall.

“I will not fight you, small Pikachu, though your bravery is noted. But take care not to let that courage turn into stupidity, unless you want to make your human cry,” continues the Ancient as he slowly claws at the stone, progressively widening a crack on the wall the team hadn’t noticed at first. “I wonder what it feels like. That bond you’re lucky to have.”

The wall begins to crumble at last, revealing what appears to be a second, much smaller cave ahead. But before Tyrantrum finishes, he barks one final question without turning back around.

“Sylveon,” he roars with no sympathy in his voice. “if I changed my mind and devoured your friends right here, before your eyes… what would you feel?”

*Odysseus had gained 1 Level!*

*Trieu has gained 5 Levels!*

The village had been devastated, but somehow they had managed to fell the Electivire and Magmortar. Odysseus was a bit dazed as he came to, what exactly had happened? His immediate assumption was that Jormungand had successfully defeated the pair with his Earthquake. However the Gyarados had also been knocked unconscious.

"All I can remember is the Magmortar going down", groaned Jormungand as he lifted himself up, his body aching. "That means Trieu must have taken down the Electivire somehow."

Odysseus was shocked, how had the young bug managed such a feat? As he looks around for her, he notices that she is once again rushing towards the Sawk, a faint trail of shadow energy trailing behind her. Odysseus understood now, she had gone to that level to protect them. He would need to monitor her for a while, just in case she showed any side effects. "Sure we'll accept!" shouted the Skorupi, sparking immediate alarm from Odysseus. There was no way they could accept the offer, they needed to return to Jayson. The Magnemite quickly zipped over to clear things up.

"Trieu well done in the fight, but you know we have to get back to our trainer, back to Jayson. I'm sorry Sawk but we can't accept your offer. We are trained Pokemon, we have a trainer that we care about and must return to." Odysseus felt bad, they had completed the challenge but had to deny the Sawk his retirement, but perhaps there was another solution. "How about you offer the position to the Magmortar and Electivire? You said you've known them a long time, so you must trust them. We were lucky to beat them, they're more than capable in battle. On top of that, they actually have hands so they can play the flute." Odysseus hoped the Sawk wouldn't be too disappointed.

TheKnightsFury: Sawk is visibly saddened by Odysseus’s reply. It’s been ages since anyone has stepped up to the challenge, and the first time anybody since Sawk himself has beaten the White Flute Challenge…

“I… I see,” he finally says with a defeated tone. “I was a fool for nurturing the expectation in the first place. After all, there is no way you have grown so much without a dedicated human to draw out that strength…”

He ponders on the matter as he looks around the half-destroyed village. Those that had been cheering the entire Challenge had now withdrawn to rebuild their huts.

“Perhaps… perhaps the White Flute Challenge should retire with me. In the end, it’s done more harm than good. I think it would do this Village good if we stopped receiving tourists for a while – periods of peace and silence are just as important for sustained growth,” he finally admits. “Yes, maybe… maybe it’s for the best. I will be honoured if you are the last visitors Vivacious Village receives for a while. Pokemon like you are not easy to forget.”

He takes the White Flute and hands it to Electivire after helping him to his feet.

“Old friend, the two of you fought bravely, and hopefully you learned something in the clash as well – the one thing you had been missing. But I hope you understand the value of humility now, and if so, there is nothing left for me to teach you… take the Flute and do what you will with it. When the time comes, perhaps it will be you to carry my legacy and draw new visitors to us.”

Electivire takes the White Flute and thinks about Sawk’s words for a moment, before shaking his head.

“Enough challenges. Enough battle and enough destruction. The Pokemon of this village have become distracted by spectacles – it’ll do them good to return to reality for a while. You’re right – a time to rebuild and regrow will do this Village good,” the Electric-Type says as he turns his attention to Jayson’s trio. “If your Trainer is as good as he seems to be, having raised you like this, I think he’ll put this Flute to better use than I ever could Take it.”

With that, the ape places the 1x White Flute at Trieu’s feet, smiling at the Pokemon who bested him.

“Well don’t you just love to hog the spotlight,” booms a voice from behind. Magmortar has come back to, and approaches the group with something in hand. “Electivire has found his match, and I found mine. So, before you go…”

He walks over to Jormungand and tosses a glimmering scale at him.

“Hope you put that 1x Heart Scale to good use, you hear? Because I’ll be wanting a rematch as soon as I run into you again,” the Fire-Type says in high-spirits.

Sawk then approaches Odysseus and gives him a warm smile, before retrieving a pendant from beneath his gi.

“You commandeered your allies to victory with remarkable value,” he says. “This was given to me by the villagers as a gift, back when I agreed to be their champion and maintain the White Flute Challenge. Now… I think your Trainer is the new hero, so let him have this 1x Dawn Stone. Oh, and one last gift from me…”

Sawk takes a deep breath, as if he’s about to give up a part of himself. He removes his belt, and lays it down on the arena floor in front of Odysseus.

“I will dedicate the remaining years of my life to rebuilding this town and teaching the new generation, the young Pokemon who will be responsible for carrying Vivacious Village into the future. I would like you to keep this, a memento from me and a definite promise of retirement. My old 1x Expert Belt is yours to keep, and I would be honoured if you did,” he concludes. Bowing respectfully, Sawk gives the team his parting words. “I’m certain we did not meet by chance. You took a weight off my shoulders, and I was blessed to meet such capable fighters. Your Trainer is lucky to have you, and this village is lucky to have Electivire and Magmortar… I hope I will still get to see you again one day, and watch how far you’ve come then. Farewell… Odysseus, Jormungand, Trieu!”

((Your Incognito Isle adventure is now over! It was fun updating you, hope you had fun as well. You can claim your prizes in your next and final reply! Cheers! ^^))

The trio was somewhat saddened by the Sawk's decision to retire the challenge, however the Magmortar and Electivire seemed to support his decision. With the challenge going into retirement, the Sawk had no use for the White Flute, so he gifted it to the trio who had finally managed to complete the challenge. Odysseus motioned to Trieu to accept the flute, which she placed in the bag they had been given. The Magmortar offers his congratulations to Jormungand for besting him, tossing the Gyarados a Heart Scale which he promptly puts in the bag. Finally the Sawk opens his gi, revealing a Dawn Stone which he presents to Odysseus. Just when the Magnemite thinks the gifts have stopped, the Sawk rewards him with his old Expert Belt, an item Odysseus knew would boost the power of super effective moves.

"Thank you all for the rewards, your generosity knows no bounds", buzzed Odysseus as he prepared his team to leave. Trieu looks sad as she makes her rounds, saying goodbye to the Sawk, Magmortar and Electivire, while Jormungand simply gives them all a nod of his massive head. The trio gathered in close, Odysseus knew the location of home so he was capable of Teleporting them back.

"Ody? Do we have to go home right away? I kinda want to stay and play a little longer." The Skorupi didn't really surprise the other two Pokemon, they were expecting her to be reluctant to leave.

"Yes Trieu, unfortunately we do", Odysseus didn't like to disappoint her, "but when we get home, you can play with the rest of Pokemon and tell them all about what happen!"

Trieu was delighted by this prospect, "alright Ody, let's go home!" The trio disappeared in a flash, leaving Incognito Island, perhaps forever.......

The Rattata were certainly caught off guard by your onslaught, having more than one Pokemon to pick on seemed to bother the large family. A few were knocked off their feet by the Brave Bird that Caeda let lose, and another was taken aback by the Iron Tail. The initial Rattata glared at Hope, she was his main target here --- and he intended to get his revenge on the fowl mouthed and rude ghost. The Donphan and Seviper were now nowhere to be seen, presumably they had fled. It was irritating to say the least, as their help would have been much appreciated.

"Yo, metal chicken!" Called out the initial Rattata, getting Caeda's attention. A large smirk was plastered across his face at this point, a look of pure pleasure that sickened the bird. "Looking for your friends?" He asked, emitting a low laugh. The Seviper and Donphan reemerged from the brush, closer to the Rattata this time. He grinned, crossing his arms and commanding that his people stop attacking momentarily. "Y'all are stupid!" He called to the trio of females, causing Hope to glare at him angrily. "I'm the boss. This was all a setup to get you trapped here, and rob you of whatever is in that sack." He grinned. Little did he realize the sack was unfortunately empty, which could spell disaster if he found out.

"Eh boss." The Donphan spoke up, looking up at the blackened Rattata. "I heard Skarmory feathers sell for big coin over on the black market." He smirked at Caeda, sending a chill through her spine. The prospect of wondering why they were doing this crossed their minds, which the Rattata seemingly picked up on. He grinned to himself, walking up to Kaitlyn.

"Why?" He remarked, grabbing her face in his small paws. "I just love messing with chicks, drives em' crazy." He chuckled to himself. "I've been in the market for a bride for quite some time, and I was informed that ladies love being toyed with. As such, we like to trap potential brides so I can scope them out." He rubbed his paw down the side of Kaitlyn's face. "And might I say, you're a rather fetching number, my dear." His toothy grin permeated once again. Caeda's sharp eyes noticed that the Seviper was holding something, it almost appeared as though it was a ring --- however it looked more akin to an orange stone shaped like the sun. She wondered if that was what he gave those that agreed to his outlandish proposals. Maybe if Kaitlyn played her cards right here, they could grab the stone and make a shift exit with the treasure.

What do you do?

The dragon turns away from the three and walks over to the cave’s wall.

“I will not fight you, small Pikachu, though your bravery is noted.

Mio is now feeling very conflicted. On one hand, it’s clear that the Ancient’s tone has changed significantly and he has become less threatening. But Mio isn’t sure how she feels about him assuming she would lose in a fight against him. It takes a lot of effort for her to hold her tongue but unlike her Sylveon companion she at least knows when it’s time to keep her mouth shut. Kei has snapped out of his lovey trance and is once again fully aware of the Ancient’s presence. He also doesn’t say anything, not that speaking was something that came easy to him in such an intimidating presence anyway.

Momo on the other hand had continued to groom his ribbons as the Ancient had been speaking, almost as if he wasn’t listening at all but he certainly heard that last question. “Come on Momo. We need to go check out that cave. Kei, keep your guard up it could be a trap.” Mio begins to head for the cave and Kei follows closely behind with his shaky legs. Momo doesn’t respond to the Ancient at first and begins to slowly follow the others. It’s when they finally reach the entrance and just before their about to enter that Momo turns toward the Ancient and gives him his answer. “I’d feel so much despair if you did something like that. I couldn’t bear it.” After hearing that response Kei once again becomes sentimental. He pauses and turns back toward Momo with a smile and happy tears filling his eyes. Mio on the other hand just continues walking without looking back. “D-Do you really mean that Momo?” Kei sniffles at how much closer to Momo this moment is making him feel. “Of course. I mean, if you guys were to get eaten up right here then god only knows how long it would take Patches to emotionally recover enough before she would be willing to carry me around again. Just the thought of her making me walk everywhere just because you two got yourselves eaten makes me shudder.” Momo responds matter of factly.

Kei’s tears dry right up. He isn’t sure how to respond to that but assumes that Momo must be joking. Mio isn’t even surprised anymore but decides to use this subect as an opportunity. “You know Momo, you weigh a lot more now than you did before we came here. I’m pretty sure she isn’t going to be able to carry you anymore either way.” Mio grins with satisfaction, knowing that this thought will upset him. Momo freezes on the spot. “T-that’s not true!” Momo stutters for the first time all day. After all of the terrifying things he has experienced, this thought terrifies him the most. He begins to pick up the pace, turning away from the Ancient so that he can follow the others into the cave in hopes of reuniting with Patches soon and proving that she can still carry him in order to ease his worries.

Things go from bad to worse quickly around these parts, don't they, mused Caeda. The Donphan and Seviper were with the Rattata, and now they were doing generic villain stuff. Yawn. Hope was clearly frustrated at the turn of events, but still willing to fight nonetheless, although that was less due to valor and more due to Hope generally wanting to burn the forest down at this point. As they asked if she was looking for her friends, she simply replied "My my, did nobody ever teach you the dangers of making such sweeping assumptions?" right before she charged in, a Brave Bird aimed to send the Rattata tumbling before retreating to a safe distance. She knew what Kaitlyn could do, and she'd need backup. Hope meanwhile had sneaked back behind the Petilil, as she too was aware of the Grass-type's party piece. Kaitlyn was absolutely terrified, but of all three it was she who had the plan. Stepping back from the Rattata, she gave the Normal type her filthiest glare before announcing "Sorry boys, someone lied to you. As it happens, if you're looking for a bride... Well, you're not the only one."

And with that, she began playing her tune, a Grasswhistle floating through the air and soothing the aggressors. The intent was to put them out completely, but her companions stood ready if things went sour. Caeda prepared to Drill Run the Seviper should the song's powers fail, whereas Hope prepared a Gunk Shot to strike the bastard rat. And then it would fall to Kaitlyn to cover the Donphan, drawing upon the Power of Nature in the grand rainforest. If they couldn't settle this peacefully, they'd go to hell fighting.

Hearing Momo's response, the Ancient's eye glimmer with repressed rage, but he merely shakes his head. Clearly the Sylveon is beyond salvation, so far deep into a pit of selfishness he has fallen, but that is his human Trainer's concern. If anything, Tyrantrum feels glad that Momo has loyal, more level-headed companions to keep him safe...

"I sincerely pity the two of you," says the dragon with a deep sigh. "But you have proven yourselves. Bravery and empathy... Pokemon with such qualities deserve better than to serve as a meal. Inside is the treasure I have amassed over generations; I doubt most trinkets would be of use to you, but take back to your Trainer whatever you feel she would like."

Once Mio and Kei have stepped inside, Tyrantrum's massive tails falls and blocks Momo's path.

"Not you. You don't deserve to lay eyes on my life's work," he growls ominously. "You will wait here for the friends you're lucky to have."

As it turns out, despite Mio's reserve, Tyrantrum hasn't lied to them; this isn't a trap. The second cave, despite being much smaller in size than the Ancient's lair, is absolutely full of loot! But the dragon was right - most of the items found within are of little use today. Old metal coins from past eras, golden plates and chalices, stone sculptures from lost ages...

Thankfully, some trinkets do seem to hold some use. Mio spots a glimmering object amidst a heap of copper coins, and retrieves it to reveal a rainbow-coloured 1x Heart Scale. After a while, Kei calls out to his partner, sounding very excited! Mio turns around to find the Charmander holding two beautiful rocks of intense colour, a bright yellow 1x Thunder Stone and a lovely blue 1x Ice Stone!

Deciding that was about all they could take of use, the duo prepares to walk back out, until Mio spots what could potentially be the solution for all their problems - at least concerning Momo's constant complaining. Without a word, she climbs up a broken statue and retrieves a peculiar rock hovering just above where the sculpture's head should be - the 1x Float Stone could very well be the answer for the Sylveon's walking... "impairment".

When the pair walks back out of the cave, the Ancient looks at what they brought with curiosity and a strangely warm smile.

"Out of all that I own, the treasures collected for centuries... four simple items are all you'll take?" he asks with surprise. "Very well. Then take this as well, a memento of our meeting."

The dragon breaks off the tip of one of his claws and hands it to Kei, who instincively steps back before accepting the 1x Quick Claw.

"Your Trainer has taught you some important values, though you still have much to learn. I was... pleasantly surprised to meet you, " Tyrantrum admits. "You reminded me that the world out there, beyond this chasm, is full of things worth preserving, such as the bond you share with your human... Go back to her, she must be growing worried. My Mandibuzz will escort you out in safety."

Before the trio leaves the cave, the Ancient speaks for the last time.

"I am glad to have met you. But now, it's time I rest. Please, tell nobody else of my existence... I, as well as this whole Isle, need a long rest."

((This concludes your II adventure! Hope you enjoyed it Patches! ^^))

Deoxys- With the remains of the Skelemere retreating into the the ship, Sucy debates that the only course of action is to pursue it and settle the troubled souls. Jinbe and the weary Momo agree, it was the right thing to do. The trio head into the ship, the weathered boards creaking under Jinbe's weight as he fails in his attempts to move quietly. At first there is no sign of the beast, until Momo, exhausted as he is, manages to find a trail of bones leading further into the ship. The beast was wounded and seemed to be slowly deteriorating, perhaps they had already done enough?

The trio are shocked to find the last of the bones piled in front of a locked door. The battered bones no longer move, whatever spirits possessed them were no longer present. Shuffling through the bones, Jinbe gives the door a solid thump, the rusted lock gives way easily and the door swings open. A horde of spirits gather around something in the middle of the room, however they quickly spin around to confront the intruders. They weren't spirits though, no they were Ghost Pokemon. Two Frillish, a trio of Gastly, a pair of Haunter and a Dhelmise all stood around what appeared to be a chest. The Dhelmise floats forward, the giant anchor almost touches the ceiling.

"We cannot thank you enough", groans the Sea Creeper Pokemon, anchor gently swinging back and forth. "Our spirits were trapped due to the traumatic experience and betrayal we endured, but thanks to you we were able to work through the pain and finally find a measure of piece." The rest of the ghostly crew nods in confirmation. "You see most captains go down with their ships, but instead our captain left us behind, securing his own safety instead. Twisted and tormented, our souls possessed our remains and created the beast you fought and bested. Since our demise we have coveted this treasure but as a thank you we would like to share some of it with you three." The Dhlemise motions to the chest, ordering the two Haunter to open it. The pair of Frillish collect a handful of items which they present to you.

The first Frillish floats over to Sucy and presents her with a dark purple stone, a Dusk Stone. It then drifts over and hands Jinbe an Blue Flute. The second approaches Momonga, presenting a small rainbow coloured Heart Scale to him. Feeling they have shared enough of their treasure, the Haunter close the chest and the Dhelmise wishes the trio farewell. "We will be forever grateful, but now it is time for you to leave."

Sandaa: The trio's eyes meet the strangest dream catcher they've ever seen and, intrigued by its strange craftsmanship, they give in to their curiosity and atttempt to retrieve the item from the branch it's tied to.

The task itself is easy; the string breaks with the gentlest of pressures, and soon Lynxa is holding the item in her hands. It makes her feel... strange, for whatever reason, and Akame notices their Murkrow partner is also growing agitated. However, before they can make any sense of it, a deep laughter coming from the hole in the tree catches their attention.

"None of you are cats, but you sure are curious," says a small, old-looking Oranguru as he exits the hollow tree. "My little trinket caught your eye, I see."

The ape takes a long, silent look at the Pawniard, the Murkrow and finally the Sneasel, then lets out another chuckle while sitting down indian-style in front of the trio.

"Interesting. There's a bit of Dark in all of you, and yet, I sense no evil. Why, then? Why steal from me? Was it Greed? Envy? Or just simple-minded curiosity?"

He uses his psychic powers to take the dream catcher from Lynxa's hands and set it on the grassy floor.

"I took this from a human poacher. Found him at death's door at the edge of Withering Woods after an unfortunate run-in with a pack of Mightyena. I could do nothing for the man, but after seeing the trinket he'd built, I felt no wish to aid him either," the Oranguru confesses. "Take a close look: he stole from and slayed many Pokemon in his hunts, and this is a trophy he handcrafted. Three blades taken from his prey did he dangle - Razor Claw, Poison Barb, Grip Claw. And at the center, wrapped in cloth, a Dusk Stone stolen from a Honchkrow nest."

He shifts his gaze from the cursed dream catcher to the Pokemon trio.

"So tell me... why should I give you this trinket, soaked in blood and sin? Why does it appeal to you?"

Feeling justice course through her veins, Pouli lunges at Golisopod, the power of Thunder cracking about her Fangs. She sinks a hard bite into the insect's arm, giving it quite a shock. Golisopod is unable to react, suddenly inflicted with a bout of paralysis, giving Pansear another opening to strike. She lunges in and delivers another Fire Punch, this one right to the gut. Suddenly, you notice a clear change in Golisopod's demeanor as instinct overwhelms it. It quickly heads for the exit to its lair, making a hasty Emergency Exit. Wimpod, seeing his boss has evacuated the premises, darts for the door as well, though Pansear clocks him with one last Fire Punch before he can make his full escape.

Pouli gained a level!

With the two theives now gone, Pansear heaves a weary sigh, but looks satisfied. She goes over to the horde piled in the back of the lair and begins to rifle through it, eventually pulling out a necklace made of dried sea grass woven around various shards of shells, sea glass, sparkling rocks and gems. Her eyes light up as she ties it around her neck again, quite happy to have the gift from her sweetheart back. She's not quite done rifling, though, as she grabs a bluish stone and chucks it to Pouli.

"Here, might as well take something for your troubles, right?" she says as it lands at Pouli's feet.

The stone is blue and translucent, the color of sea water, with what appears to be bubbles sealed in it - a quite familiar Water Stone.

"Now, didn't you have a friend could use a bit of rescuing?" Pansear suggests.

"Niho!" Pouli yelps, suddenly and jarringly remembering that they'd left the young Totodile alone in a rapidly flooding hot spring. Admittedly, she was a water type and therefor probably okay, but... she was so young! And all by herself! And probably terrified!

The stone laid out at her feet was quite pretty, and likely something Tate would like, and it was incredibly gratifying to have beaten up the thieves and reclaimed Pansear's precious necklace, but Pouli didn't really give much of a thought to any of that, now fixated on the fate of her tiny reptilian ward. She wasn't entirely sure she'd be let back into the house if she came back without Niho -- thought she doubted Tate would be that cruel -- nor, more importantly, wwould she be able to forgive herself if she let anything bad happen.

Snatching the stone up in her mouth awkwardly, lacking the opposable thumbs to grasp it among other biological limitations that rendered her mouth the only grasping force she had, Pouli did a weird little dance of anxiety, sort of like the one she did when she needed to go outside to potty back home. Unable to speak with a rather large rock in her mouth, she fixed Pansear with a strange and expectant look, as if to see if she were coming along, before growing too antsy to stand there any longer. At a full sprint she bolted from the lair, only briefly impeded by the narrow opening as she made her exit.

As Lynxa swiped the unusual looking dream catcher, she held it in her hands and examined it closely. Akame and Ikki were hardly conspirators in her crime, but they were completely indifferent and complacent to let the Sneasel do as she pleased. However, Lynxa’s deed was not unnoticed, and a mysterious voice emanated from the tree’s hollow trunk. The source of the voice came from a wise, old looking Oranguru, who slowly stepped out of the darkness and into the light before sitting down calmly before them. Then, using his psychic powers, he pulled the item from Lynxa’s clutches. Rolling her eyes, the Sneasel acted aloof as if she allowed the old ape to reclaim his treasure.

Oranguru then began to tell an account of how the dream catcher wound up in his possession. There was a lot of negative history surrounding the item, involving a poacher who had taken so much from nature just as Lynxa was attempting to take from a complete stranger. Oranguru then posed the question to her: for what reason did she commit such an act?

Just like any child who had been caught in the act of doing something wrong, Lynxa was more embarrassed than angry. She remained calm however, and carefully thought over his question. Was she greedy? No, she did not think of herself as a materialistic Pokemon. Curiosity might have been the closest to how she felt, but not even that was exactly right. Akame and Ikki, although not entirely too interested in what was going on, looked at Lynxa as they wondered what kind of answer she would give. None of the three Pokemon had devious intentions; they simply lived their lives in a sort of chaotic order. After thinking it over, Lynxa smiled and faced the Oranguru. “Do I need a reason? I just thought it looked cool. If you cared about it so much, maybe you should have hidden it better!”

134- With the Golisopod retreating, Pouli realizes that Niho was still trapped in the flooding hot spring! The Houndoom breaks into a sprint as she rushes back to where she had last seen the Totodile, behind the wall of rocks that the sneaky Wimpod had sent crashing down. If she had to return to Tate with news that Niho had been hurt, there was no telling what her trainer's reaction would be. Sure Niho was a Water type, but if the water was hot enough the Totodile would surely boil? There was no time to think about it, she just had to get back there and get her out.

Much to Pouli's surprise, Makamae was waiting for her when she arrived. The Dunsparce had disappeared some time ago, her help would certainly be appreciated. Barking orders, the pair begin to tear away at the rocks, slowly but surely clearing them. Suddenly the rocks begin to shake, causing the two to move back and give them some distance. A bunch of the rocks crack and tumble away as water floods out, washing over them as it disperses. As they shake themselves dry, a figure makes its way through the cleared passage.

"Niho?" Pouli questions as the now Croconaw makes its way towards them. Niho had grown quite a bit in her absence it seemed, although it explained why she was now strong enough to break through the rocks.

"About time you came back for me", snaps Niho, "you're lucky I evolved!" Looking around the debris, Niho finds a couple of useful items. She picks up a rainbow coloured Heart Scale, as well as a Damp Rock and what appears to be a Bell made of Shells. "Looks like we got some loot Pouli, do you think Tate will be happy with us?"
