fucked around with Gen 8 rands, delibird is the gen's zarel-mandated joke set and please for the love of everything ban Dynamax from comp, or at least from rands

I had a Fire blast 3HKO an escavalier. Like, non stab, sure, but it's Fire Blast on Escavalier.

So according to calcs, Dracovish is actually superior to the Barafish, because its signature move Fisheous Rend is classified as a jaw move.

In rain,

252+ Atk Strong Jaw Dracovish Fisheous Rend vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn in Rain: 159-187 (45.1 - 53.1%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn in Rain: 196-231 (55.6 - 65.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Compare this to,

252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn in Rain: 72-85 (20.4 - 24.1%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Life Orb Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn in Rain: 140-166 (39.7 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Speed Tiers:

816 : Barraskewda (Jolly)
742 : Barraskewda (Adamant)
476 : Mega Swampert (Adamant)
421 : Dragapult (Jolly)
373 : Dracovish (Adamant)
371 : Barraskewda (Adamant)
363 : Ash-Greninja (Modest)

Fisheous Rend only doubles in damage if Dracovish outspeeds. But the alternative, the Choice Band set, means that anything that does outspeed only takes 1.5%, while anything slower takes 3%.

Seen that level of power before? It's the same as Garmanitan. The only caveat is Dracovish needs rain to have similar performance to Garmanitan, due to its much lower base attack.

Here's my gimmick team, I will be using it if there's a dynamax suspect. I definitely will be participating in it.

The idea is to use Mew to Trick Choice Scarf onto a lead or wall, or in a last-ditch effort use Scarf to Transform into something. Then Dynamax as you would Ditto to use Scarf's effects.

Mew, Corvinight, and Dragapult can all U-Turn. Corvinight is fat and has a slow U-Turn.

Gyarados is just there as a filler since I don't know what works yet.

This is gross.

...

Ayep.

I've tried to avoid using dynamax, anticipating a ban. It's really dumb!

Reeeeeally dumb.

I'm not qualified, especially in this meta.

...

I have to wonder is Mew broken? Mew was broken in the first four generations of Pokemon due to its versatility, but it was forced into certain roles once LGPE came out (also, Megas and Melmetal).

But here, Mew is just devastating. Scarf on Corsola, Toxapex, or Ferrothorn is absolutely the easiest way to cripple them, since stats-wise they're too strong to combat with other methods. I've shown earlier how Toxapex by herself can wall pretty much anything.

Moreover, there's little downside to tricking scarf onto most of these mons. Even using Transform allows you to reset your moves with Dynamax. I've been taken aback a few times seeing tricked offensive Pokemon do just that.

The first fun battle of the generation, but only made possible due to the broke dynamax mechanics that allow Mew to overcome its mortal enemy, Rotom-Wash!

Here we go again.

I was able to deduce his Garm was double banded from the damage it did to Gyarados, after which I stopped playing around it.

The most useful Pokemon are:

Mew
Gyarados + Heavy Duty Boots
Toxapex

Pex/Gyarados are really insane together. Gyarados dodges Earthquake, while Pex can absorb most Water/Ice/Electric attacks.

Mew's transform is very threatening because of Mew's high bulk, although I can't fit an offensive move STAB on it. Maybe I should? With that +2 attack I should have been able to OHKO that Hawlucha.

A transformed Mew that boosts up can't be copied by Imposter Ditto.

No, even with dynamax, the stall cores are too powerful.

It says a lot that those very stall cores are able to beat dynamax. What will happen when dynamax is banned?

Also, can Dugtrio run Sucker Punch in this meta?

Dynamax has been banned from Little Cup. I hope we get an OU ban by the end of next week.

I've adapted to using dynamax but it comes at the team construction level, not any in-game tactic. You bring along your dynamax sweepers to scare the opponent into making predictable defensive plays, because those sweepers put the opponent in a answer-or-die situation. If the opponent decides to yolo, you then dance around the dynamax, hazing the boosts and eating the damage, perhaps with your own walls and tanks.

At the end of the day, a successful team in this meta consists of:

-powerful walls (Ferrothorn, Toxapex, Corviknight, Corsola)
-dynamax sweepers (Excadrill, Gyarados, Hawlucha, Darmanitan, Dragapult)
-Ditto

Teams are hypercentralizing around this form factor, and it's not healthy and devolves into a stall war, since the sweepers aren't powerful enough to break the walls without dynamax.

I'm definitely bored with it and would like to try something else!

I've been playing natdex and dynamax is so powerful/good you're at a competitive disadvantage running a Z-Move or a Mega.

Case in point, and most of the other games are similar. I lost to a Rotom-Mow earlier due to a miscalculation, but otherwise I've swept all games.

Dynamax Ash-Greninja is such a terror. I'm using Bounce in my fourth slot just because 130 BP Max Airstream breaks Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth. But you hardly need to use it.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Arceus in Rain: 574-676 (130.1 - 153.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Greninja-Ash Max Geyser vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Arceus in Rain: 441-520 (100 - 117.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

The big appeal is that the Max Geyser is 100% accurate, removing the one balancing issue with Ash-Greninja. The extra kick is icing on the cake, but it's unfortunately not powerful enough to break Toxapex.

Max Darkness, Max Geyser, and Max Airstream off Dark Pulse, Hydro Pump and Bounce are all 130 BP. Max Darkness is the biggest boost obviously. I could also use Max Mindstorm off Extrasensory to OHKO Toxapex.

Seems like someone was trying for that coveted Double Rocks strat. Doesn't work quite so well against a Type that resists Steel, of course.

Copperajah is fat and hits pretty hard. Upon gigantamax it has over 900 HP. Dracovish was able to OHKO it from 86% health.

My Gen VII team is 100% better with dynamax in the game Seismitoad is a buffed MEGA Swampert, while Dracovish is that bulky, immediate power Qwilfish I wish I had. I have an extreme vulnerability to Scarf Serperior, but I can always switch out Gyarados for Azumarill if a Grass switch-in is necessary.

The stunning power of Ash-Greninja who also sets rain makes this set even more dangerous against bulky offense and stall team. I already showed how I was able to beat that setup Clefable - losing Soft Boiled and having to rely on the 8 PP Moonlight, which is further hurt by rain, and having the sheer muscle to OHKO the likes of Mega Sableye and Chansey.

Speaking of Chansey: Max Darkness is -1 SpD. So while Ash-Greninja can't OHKO, it can 2HKO:

252+ SpA Life Orb Greninja-Ash Max Geyser vs. -1 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Rain: 491-578 (69.8 - 82.2%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
