Bulbasaur Beginner Trainer Battle: Son_of_Shadows vs. blazeVA

The referee had been left to chose the arena and so she chose one of the newer arenas. This one had only had one single battle upon its soils and in its rivers so far and she was keen to try this triple battle out here. It was as picturesque as she remembered, the large trees allowing only the arena to be seen from the sky. The waterfalls at the far end gushed into the pool below which branched into long winding waterways that met at a large pool in the centre. There was plenty of grass areas for land Pokemon to battle too. The two trainers arrived separately from opposite sides of the forest and saw the referee stood by the pool in the centre waving over to them.

"Hey guys, nice to see you both. Well its a bit chilly today but its still a great day for a battle. I don't get to referee many triple battles so this should be fun for us all. Lets keep in friendly and go over the rules."
Son_of_Shadows vs. blazeVA
Beginner Trainer Battle (Pokemon from Lv’s 01-25 used only)
3 vs. 3
Triple Battle
48 Hr. DQ
Arena: Astoria's Waterfall Valley: Countless waterfalls surround this 100m x 100m battle arena where eight small rivers (5m deep, 2m wide) flow from each of the rudimentary directions and form a pool in the center, with the rest of the arena being grassy lands and large trees surrounding the pool, making it ideal for those wishing to do battle between Pokemon on land and Pokemon who live in the water. The pool itself is only 30m in diameter and 15m deep so smaller Pokemon may battle within or travel along the rivers which are interconnected. Wild Pokemon living within the rivers may attack the participants if they feel provoked so be careful.
She allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned Son_of_Shadows to Heads and blazeVA to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Tails".
Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play:
– I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round.
- Only 2 attacks per Pokemon per round please.
- I will then ref the first round.
- blazeVA will then order their attacks for the next round.
- Son_of_Shadows then orders their attacks.
- I ref the round, and the next round attack orders switch and so on and so forth till we have a winner!
"Now you say you’re lonely
You cry the whole night through
Well, you can cry me a river, cry me a river
I cried a river over you”

He'd agreed to meet a passing trainer for a battle here, and he was sure that the pool could give his Wartortle and Stunfisk an advantage, while Swablu dominated the skies. Still, he was a newcomer to triple battles, so strategising here would not be easy. Adapting to a new scenario is never easy... His opponent released a tall Lopunny, a buzzing Yanmega and a floating Shuppet - no side really had the advantage over the other here, with two fully evolved Pokémon versus his much smaller Pokémon. Time to be amazing.

"Alright you three, it's time to start. Aegis, Cloudy, I want you two to start off with your Blizzard and Heat Wave, while Livewire targets that Yanmega with a powerful Thundershock. From there, concentrate your fire on the Yanmega with your Crossfire, Aegis, your Acrobatics, Cloudy, and your Scald, Livewire.

Birthday: December 1st
Biography: Aegis was the first Pokémon Joshua picked up from the Adoption Centre - Squirtle had always been one of his favourite Pokémon, and so naturally he jumped at the opportunity to add one to his team. He was named for the famed shield, and while a normally very relaxed Pokémon, Aegis will go all out to protect anyone he cares about, making his name choice creepily appropriate. Joshua claims not to have planned this. Riiiight. It was this need to protect his friends that inspired Aegis' evolution - when Steven was knocked out by a Queen Beedrill, Aegis was furious at his inability to do anything, since he was vomiting from poison at the time. He evolved so that he would have the power to protect his friends in the future. As this implies, Aegis is closest on the team to Steven, mainly because of his guilt in not being able to protect him against the Beedrill. He has something of a rivalry with Mercutio, both competing for "best water type on Joshua's team". Mercutio has the edge in the water, but Aegis has the lead on land, especially due to his Crossfire attack - something of a secret weapon, but a truly devastating one for an opponent not expecting a Fire attack.

"Cloudy" the Swablu
Obtained: Adoption Centre
Level: 20
Type: Normal/Flying
Gender: Male
Nature: Quiet
Ability: Natural Cure
Ball: Pokéball (1/15)
Held Item: N/A
Moves: Peck, Growl, Hyper Voice, Astonish, Sing, Fury Attack, Agility, Acrobatics, Flamethrower, Dragon Pulse, Heat Wave, Roost, Tailwind
IQ: 1
Contest Stats: 10 Tough, 10 Beauty, 10 Cool, 10 Cute, 10 Smart
BP: 0
Birthday: September 25th
Biography: Cloudy is by far the quietest Pokémon on Joshua's team, who rarely likes to raise his voice (making his Hyper Voice attack a rarity, a shock, and a moment that you know Cloudy is using a last resort). Humble to the core, Cloudy is likely to turn beetroot red at any sort of compliment, almost unwilling to accept it - even when Joshua tells him what an amazing dragon he'll make later in life, Cloudy seems to just brush it off, not taking it seriously at all. Cloudy and Bishop share a mutual love of the skies, and while Bishop is more powerful, Cloudy is the team's ace pilot, being more nimble. The duo make a formidable team however, and no aerial opponent is a match for them combined. However, Cloudy is constantly at odds with the more brash, rude Livewire who loves to push his buttons and make attempts to shock him. The Swablu is not the confrontational type, so he rarely retaliates, and Joshua just isn't sure how to handle it...

"Livewire" the Stunfisk
Obtained: Whale Island
Level: 12
Type: Electric/Ground
Gender: Male
Nature: Rash
Ability: Static
Ball: Pokéball (4/15)
Held Item: N/A
Moves: Mud Slap, Mud Sport, Bide, Earth Power, Scald, Thundershock
IQ: 1
Contest Stats: 10 Tough, 10 Beauty, 10 Cool, 10 Cute, 10 Smart
BP: 0
Birthday: August 23rd
Biography: Livewire had something of a troubled start - a proud Stunfisk from the Moor of Icirrus, he was kidnapped by Team Aqua, removed from his family and used as a pawn in their schemes to disrupt Raine's Wildlife Park as part of their "protest" (or as Joshua called it, "terror attack"). The angry, confused Livewire was put in a tank of Mantine and Mantyke, which children could surf on, and in frustration, he lashed out. Joshua and Aegis attempted to subdue the Stunfisk, and ultimately captured him - making him Joshua's first official capture on his adventure. Still angry about his separation from his family, Livewire seems to have issues, and only a grudging respect for his trainer - he even outright disobeys sometimes, and ignores Joshua's orders. The two are yet to establish a truly close relationship, and he also has issues with the rest of the team, especially Cloudy, who he seems to love teasing. Time will tell if this Stunfisk can ever settle into life on Joshua's team...

Blaze ponders on what orders to give his troops on the field of battle. Not to mention three different personalities as well. He knew that he needed to get rid of the most troubling Pokemon first, and he decided what to do immediately.

Surgei, give the Wartortle two Giga Drains por favor. I got a feeling you are going to be hit first out of the bunch.

Lemon Drop, give the Wartortle a couple of Thunderbolts.

Hades, wait for a bit. If you hear any singing, Screech it out. If you don't, Will-O-Wisp Wartortle. Either way, end by Will-O-Wisping the Swablu.

He hoped that these orders were going to work. Well, of course they were going to work. They were just offensive orders anyways.

Both trainers are keen to get started and take their places after hearing the rules. They soon release their trio of Pokemon leaving 6 Pokemon on the battlefield. For Joshua it was his Wartortle called Aegis, a Swablu called Cloudy and finally a Stunfisk called Livewire. All three share and look and nod ready to face down their opponents. Blaze was keen to add another win to his belt and so sends out his powerhouses, his Yanmega Sergei who had already proved his worth in battle, a Lopunny called Lemon Drop, another trainer battle winner and finally a Shuppet called Hades. They looked battle ready and stared down their foes. Once the referee was sure they were ready she raised her flag and waited for the chaos to ensue.

Lemon Drop is the quickest Pokemon on the field and she starts by charging electrical energy into her fur and letting loose a Thunderbolt that arcs through the air and striking Aeigs who bites his lip in pain. The electricity breaks off and Aegis glares at the Lopunny before breathing in and giving her a taste of his Blizzard and she shrieks in response shivering in pain against the bitter cold; payback!

Sergei moves to the defence of his team-mate by Giga Draining Aegis to add to his pain, the Wartortle is feeling a little ganged up on and his own team-mates come to his aid. Cloudy flaps his wings really hard sending super hot Heat Wave of air towards Surgei who screams in pain flying off trying to cool down.

Now Livewire acts not wanting Surgei to rest up as he charges up electricity into his body before sending a Thundershock at the Yanmega bringing even more pain to the dragonfly. He was lucky not to suffer a burn or paralysis from those attacks. With the only screeches being from his team-mates Hades summons ghostly purple fire around his body and lets it fly right towards Aegis leaving hi blue skin with a nasty red burn.

Lemon has recovered enough from the Blizzard to target poor Aegis once more with another Thunderbolt and Aegis once again is yelling in pain falling to his knees. He gets back up wobbling slightly from all the damage he's taken but he spots his new target, the suffering Yanmega and crosses his arms across his face and runs towards him. Sergei can hardly dodge as Aegis whacks him with a nasty Cross Fire adding more heat to the poor dragonfly who flies off with almost a limp.

Sergei pushes through his own pain and now it was time to recover to health and finish off the Wartortle. He siphons health from him with a Giga Drain and replenishes his own. Aegis collapses to the ground as his burn robs him of precious health and after one round he's nearly finished. Cloudy is horrified at his team-mates ill health and turns to the culprit ready to bring the pain. He slams into Surgei with a show of Acrobatics the power of the attack boosted by the lack of held item leaving him too in a sorry state.

Livewire grins as he knows that he will be the one to finish Sergei off and he breathes in deeply letting loose a Scalding hot blast of water that soaks the Yanmega who falls to the ground his wings to wet to fly. Livewire is not amused that Sergei looks to still have fight left in him. Hades sets the tone of battle by burning Cloudy with another Will-O-Wisp

Wow, what a start to a battle that was!

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

Hades, you have the best energy out of them all, so Thunderbolt Aegis to finish him. If he is not out, Shadow Sneak him to try and finish him. If he his out, Will-O-Wisp Livewire.

Surgei, give Livewire two Hidden Powers [Ground] before you are defeated. You served well soldier.

Lemon Drop, two ice beams for the bird. If it Roosts give it a Sky Uppercut while it is Roosting.

Blaze for horrible person?

I RPd this all out then went back by accident T_T

Wartortle: Muddy Water >>> Muddy Water (Lopunny)

Swablu: Agility to dodge the Ice Beam >>> Heat Wave

Stunfisk: Dive into the water >>> Surface and use Thundershock (Yanmega if it's still active, Lopunny if not).

Round 2

It looked like both trainers were going to lose a Pokemon this round and be left with only 2 on each side, they were going all out to try and take out the opposition. Sergei was now quite a lot quicker than the others and goes on the offensive before he was eliminated. His wings hurt to flap from the heat he had applied to them but it doesn't stop him launching a Hidden Power (Ground) the orbs of earth energy slamming into Livewire before he can even move. Even though Aegis is in dire pain he's back on his feet and summons a wave of Water from the pool which looks decidedly Muddy and sends it crashing over Lemon Drop and Hades who both fall to the ground, two for the price of one with that move!

Lemon gets back to her feet rubbing her eyes, it appears that some of the mud got in them reducing her accuracy. Hades shakes the water from his body and sends a Thunderbolt Aegis' way in retribution sending the Wartortle to the ground KO'd, well that was one down. Lemon grins at her team-mate's success and focuses on Cloudy, time to take out the birdie. She lets loose an Ice Beam that totally misses Cloudy more due to the accuracy rather than the Agility she uses in the short term to shoot past its line of fire. Livewire has meanwhile Dived into the water to avoid any further attacks sent by the mean Sergei.

The Yanmega is surprised to still be going and throws another Hidden Power (Ground) towards Livewire but most of the attack is buffered by the water preventing the Stunfisk taking any damage. Lemon Drop fires another Ice Beam at Cloudy and this time hits him making him tweet in pain but he avoid being frozen this time. Cloudy flaps his wings rapidly feeling the Heat generated from them warming his body back up. The Wave is released striking both Lemon Drop and Hades who remain close together on the battlefield both suffering from the move.

Hades is beginning to feel that being next to Lemon Drop is a bad idea and he floats towards the water and releases a Will-O-Wisp that fizzles out on the surface unable to reach Livewire who grins from beneath the surface. He swims back up and targets Sergei with a Thundershock but its not enough to finish the Yanmega off and Blaze ends the round on top with all 3 Pokemon still fighting.

Round 3

Joshua was looking concerned as he miscalculated and now he was down to only two Pokemon whilst Blaze still had three. They had to take out Sergei before he could gain and advantage but looked to be a problem as the Yanmega starts to move back and forth creating 4 copies of himself with his Double Team. Cloudy lets loose a Hyper Voice towards Lopunny who sets up a Mirror Coat bouncing the attack right back Cloudy who chirps in pain as he's hit back with double the power. The Hyper Voice also hits Hades but being a ghost type he doesn't feel a thing. Hades meanwhile lets loose an Ice Beam at Cloudy who's eyes bug out as he's hit with the super effective attack but fortunately he's not frozen. Livewire pops up from the pool and sends a blast of Scalding hot water towards the quintet of Sergei's and hits a clone destroying it ... damn it another swing and a miss!

Sergei shakes off the near miss and swoops over to Livewire and Giga Drains him siphoning off health and replenishing his own. Cloudy covers herself in blue flames shaking off the pain of the ice attack and slams into Lemon Drop with his Dragon Rush throwing her back. Lemon quickly recovers and using the last of her ice energy fires out a weaker-than-normal Ice Beam hitting Cloudy again who shivers in agony once more before falling to the ground KO'd.

Hades turns his head towards Livewire who remains in the pool and is the only Pokemon of Joshua's left. He sends his very small Shadow Sneakily towards him striking him for some light damage. Livewire glares at Sergei and Thundershocks him striking the real Yanmega but with the health he stole from him he can easily withstand the attack. This was not looking good, now it was 3 on 1!!!

Blaze was ecstatic on what happened on this round. He was worried for the first two rounds, but now he had a decidable advantage and now could play his second hand in the match.

Lopunny, double Water Pulse on Stunfisk.

Surgei, double Giga Drain him. If you run out of Grass energy or get too low, HP Ground him.

Hades, Curse Stunfisk before Ice Beaming him.

Joshua sighed. He was beaten and he knew it, and now Livewire was about to pay the price for it. There were six brutal attacks heading his way, and there was nothing he could do. "Well, we tried." The Stunfisk glared at him furiously, before sending a powerful jolt of electricity at his trainer. "Just... brace yourself," mumbled Joshua, who'd been sent to the floor by the attack.

Round 4

Joshua knew when he was beaten, he stood stock still his shoulders slumped as he just ordered his Stunfisk to take the attacks like a man and be proud that he tried. Livewire was not impressed and he shocked his trainer for being a wuss and not even trying to finish the match. He floated in the water with a sour look upon his face at the fat about to befall him.

Sergei starts with a Giga Drain exploiting Livewire's weakness and restoring more health. Lemon Drop generates an orb of Water between her paws that Pulses before the throws it at Livewire. It explodes across his body making him wince, another weakness exploited. Hades makes what could be an unnecessary move as he sacrifices a chunk of his health in order to place a Curse on Livewire to really make him suffer.

Sergei keeping his proximity to the prone Stunfisk uses his last Giga Drain to siphon off even more health and he feels so much better now. To think he had nearly fallen in battle. Livewire was still standing ... floating but that doesn't last long as Lemon uses another Water Pulse to finish him off.

"All of Joshua's Pokemon are unable to battle, Lemon-Drop, Sergei, Hades and Blaze are the winners!"

Congratulations to blazeVA and Sergei, Lemon-Drop and Hades who stomped all over the opposition cementing another victory. There were no distinct type advantages but you used the move pools well to take out the opposition swiftly. You're quickly becoming the one to beat in trainer battles.
All three Pokemon receive one of these Beginner Trainer Trophies. . All three also receive two levels as they survived till the end of the match.

Commiserations to Son_of_Shadows, Aegis, Cloudy and Livewire. You did well in the first round the mistake was not capitalising on Sergei's poor health and finishing him off with a strong attack before he could make a come-back. It quickly became a numbers game with you losing every round. I defiantly would have gone down fighting, tries to take one of them out even though it was a losing game.
Wartortle, Swablu and Stunfisk receive 1 XP each for participating in the battle.

I hope to see you both back again ^-^

I chose not to mainly because I didn't want to deprive blaze's Yanmega of the extra levels. I would've felt slightly spiteful. Thanks for reffing Arc, much appreciative of the hard work. And GG blaze, I was completely outmatched.

Don't worry about that man. I wouldn't have minded all to much.

Blaze stood at the edge of the battlefield with a smile on his face. This victory was one that meant a lot to him. It was a first for many things: it was his first triple battle, his first battle with Hades, and the first time that all of his Pokemon had cooperated together to win a battle. Or to do anything.

"Come on over guys! You did great!"

All three of his Pokemon came over, pretty tired and beat up, but doing well all the same.

"How do you guys feel?"

"I am a little tired myself, but I feel okay. It was surely fun!"

"I am doing okay. I was worried for a bit, but we got the job done against a versatile team."

Lemon Drop and Surgei both looked satisified, but when Blaze looked at Hades, he was looking down, with eyes as big as saucers, like he had an epiphany earlier. He looked up at Blaze, with a grin on his face, a terrifying grin.

""I LIKED IT!!!!"

Congrats for a great battle S_o_S. Maybe if he have a rematch you can beat me.
