And this is different from the time-honored tradition of stuffing the ballot box and the dead voting...how?

At a fundamental level, you have to have credible stewards of the votes or democracy doesn't work. There's only so much Diebold can do about that.

Kirchick argued that many of Ron Paul's views expressed in his newsletter were homophobic and leaned heavily towards conspiracy theories. Ron Paul supporters are countering the argument that Ron Paul is homophobic and believes in wacky conspiracy theories by calling the article a product of the Zionist conspiracy/One World government/Jewish media and making disparaging remarks about the author's sexual orientation.

Not strictly related to the current debate, but I found it amusing.

Re: Ron Paul EXCLUDED from Faux News Jan 6 Debate

So, I think everyone's heard of the nasty brawl in Florida - Rudy's out and Edwards (;_;) has withdrawn coolly, most likely because of Giuliani's exit. I can't help but express my disappointment at how Edwards ran a strong, yet again futile race despite being the most centrist of the Democratic nominees; as I put it this morning, after Bush Jr. the Republicans want moderation. The Democrats want revenge.

I'm not changing my mind that Romney will ultimately size Ommadon's Red Crown, even with McCain's victory. I figured the man must have gone all out even before hearing about how he's broke now, but that likely will change.

As for Clinton-Obama, it's still a tie as far as I'm concerned, but Obama has the edge. As it stands though, having Obama in office would be better simply on the basis of who those two would pick as a vice president; Clinton, being the ambitious glory-hog that she is, wouldn't want a "powerful" vice president to steal away glory, so she'd pick someone with relatively no experience but who was popular with people...like Obama! On the other hand, Obama who doesn't have experience would pick someone who could help him in office significantly, since he's charismatic enough to pull the race through on his own - this gives Edwards one last ticket at the White House in the shot-gun seat. It's especially good since even if race becomes an issue in the debates, Edwards isn't controversial by any means, while a Hillary - Obama ticket would be grisly. Especially if they end up battling against McCain or Romney.

On my primary ballot I voted for "Mike Gravel" just because I like the guy; my parents + sister voted Edwards. Shame what happened, it is.

If you don't get this joke, you need to watch Frisky Dingo

I want Al Gore for President just so whenever someone asks him something, he can just blurt, "Global Warming" and it will all be good.

"What is your plan for health care?"
I saved the world from "Global Warming."
"Very good Mr. Gore! And your look on taxes?"
"Global Warming."
"Education."
"Global Warming."

I mean, that'd easily win him the Democratic vote.

Re: Ron Paul EXCLUDED from Faux News Jan 6 Debate

I have a friend of a good friend ... he's a textbook reviewer, y'see ... and he recently mentioned on our mutual friend's weblog that he reviewed this one textbook and it had a lot of ... well, I'd hesitate to say "anti-American sentiment," but it squarely placed blame on our shoulders for exacerbating global warming, polar ice caps melting, etc., and it spent an entire unit (not chapter, unit) on clean energy sources. IIRC the book was on earth sciences. You remember, the course you probably took in middle school or early high school about geology, weather, etc.? We took ours in 8th grade. Anyway, yeah. The point is that it sounds as though Mr. Gore's already been beaten to the punch for the "education?" question.

Hahahaha...!

That right there is some face-palm inducing comedy gold. The only good thing about McCain most likely winning the nomination is Huckabee won't, and depending on who the Democrats elect he might not even get that coveted VP spot. If we get Obama, bye bye Huckabee...if we get Hillary, it'll be a choice between Mikhail Gorbachev with Jimmy Carter and Charles de Gaulle with Billy Graham.

Birthmark Man and Peanut Farmer for the win!

Speaking of Carter, this map depresses me not so much for the color reversal as for the party reversal in the South. Look at that -- 1976, and the entire South went to the Democrats. What the hell happened between '76 and '92? I mean seriously ... what the hell happened ... T_T

Re: Ron Paul EXCLUDED from Faux News Jan 6 Debate

Party affiliation doesn't matter, it's the ideology that counts, and the ideology in the South has stayed pretty consistent over the years but it's reflecting the core values of the Republican party more than the Democrats. Example; most people are shocked to learn Fred Phelps is a Democrat, but the key was he registered Democrat in the 1940's and given his location and beliefs, that most ties in with the now extinct "Southern Democrat" folk of legend. He's stayed in the same party but ideologically he couldn't be farther from.

Re: Ron Paul EXCLUDED from Faux News Jan 6 Debate

Super Tuesday was pretty interesting and seeing Romney drop out solidifies the Rep. candidates as pretty much McCain. I think Huckabee is still in purely for the VP spot. <.< But all in all my statement was fairly obvious either way.

As for the dems, I like the whole "SUPER DELEGATES" thing they have going. Nice way to represent the people there.

Yeah, that was amusing. Especially when the Co$ gave the judge that video "from Youtube" but with a quality that Youtube doesn't maintain. Original content? Not on my /b/.

Wait... what is this doing in the Ron Paul thread? I'm confused.

And it was funny a month ago when some anon hacked that site and replaced the video with a rick roll. What's odd is that it stayed on the site for at least a week, if not longer...

Wrong topic, my mistake.

...

Suffice to say, I'm hear to chime in that the Democratic primaries are over and I'll be voting for John McCain this November.
