Jirachi Wishing Well Raid Battle 6: VS Gigantamax Toxtricity

Gigantamax Boss Toxtricity
★★★★★
Health Gauge: 100%
Shields Up: 0
Status: N/A
Trainer Status: N/A

Raid Challengers:

Median Dia (Palossand): 500 HP
Raves (Golurk): 400 HP
Connor (Gligar): 400 HP
Slash (Toxtricity): 400 HP
Missingno. Master (Golurk): 400 HP
CrazyCreeperKid (Lopunny): 300 HP

A shockwave of sound ripples through the area, a mere short distance away from the well as a nearby battle rages. This particular blast comes from the gargantuan Gigantamax Toxtricity that has come crawling in response to the Wishing Piece used, ready to do battle. A few more trainers have come to defend against this boss, all standing at the ready as it lazily strums its organs waiting for the battle to start.

Dynamax Initiative: Slash, Toxtricity
  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • If a trainer’s Pokemon is rendered unconscious, they may choose to cheer on their allies; opting to either remove one shield from the raid boss or healing one ally’s Pokemon by 50% of their max health.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but up $500 may be collected for role played responses of equivalent words, per standard rules, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Thursday, July 15th to place your order.

Bear eyed the Gigantamax Toxtricity with an expression as unreadable as one would expect from a Golurk. It seemed confused that Terri wasn't yet giving it a command, but said nothing, waiting just as patiently, knowing that she had to have something in mind here. And soon enough, said patience was rewarded, for the Pokémon Terri had been eyeing curiously had indeed acted, and acted just as Terri had been hoping. The Automaton Pokémon turned its head towards the Gligar as it attacked Toxtricity with an earsplitting Screech. "...SCREECH REDUCES DEFENSE," it considered. "AND HARSHLY SO. DO I TAKE THIS TO MEAN I SHOULD ATTACK WITH A PHYSICAL GROUND MOVE NOW, MISS TERRI?" it asked. "I MEAN, UH-" it added, realizing it had still not yet mastered the art of not calling its Trainer by a formal title.

But Terri chuckled. "It's OK, Bear. Honestly, I think I kinda like Miss Terri, so if that's what you're comfortable with calling me, we can go with that for now.

"THANK YOU, MISS TERRI," rumbled Bear, sounding mildly relieved. Simply calling its Trainer by her name didn't feel right to it- in fact, even "Miss Terri" gave it a twinge of guilt to say, as though part of it was uneasy about referring to Terri as anything less than "Master". But Terri's reassurances were undeniably helping.

"Now... I don't think we go for a Ground move just yet," Terri continued. "Later, for sure," she added. "Ground is easily the best type to hit a Toxtricity with. But for right now, I think there's a move you can make good use of, not for its type matchup, but for its side effect. It's normally not that reliable of a move, but with your Ability, it can't miss."

"...I BELIEVE I KNOW TO WHICH MOVE YOU ARE REFERRING," Bear droned. "IT WOULD BE A POOR TYPE MATCHUP, BUT THE USEFULNESS OF ITS EFFECT WOULD BE UNDENIABLE. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE REDUCED DEFENSE FROM THE SCREECH," it added.

Terri smiled. "See? You do get it," she said. "In fact, you thought this through even more than I did- I didn't even think of how much the Screech would help with this beyond just making the move hit harder. Well, ready to get this started, Bear?" she asked.

"AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI," nodded the Golurk.

Terri smiled, gesturing towards Toxtricity. "Then Bear, use Dynamic Punch, now!" she called out. And the Golurk stomped forward, right fist aglow with volatile energy as it prepared to swing said fist at Toxtricity with grim accuracy.

Terri watched her Golurk as it prepared to land its first blow of the raid battle. Bear's gonna do well in this, she thought to herself with her usual small, mysterious smile in place. I just hope it can start to get comfortable with the notion of working with me as an equal, as opposed to a subordinate. All those years of serving Meloetta, it's so used to just being a servant... Hopefully this battle will help with this.

OOC: Bear used Dynamic Punch (100 BP; confuses the target; user has No Guard)

The Wishing Well. As opposed to the fairly regular happenstance of wild Pokemon stumbling upon the Power Spots Gyms were built around and growing massive and empowered, this special den was possibly even weirder. Legends say that when one possesses a special item called a Wishing Piece, they can throw it into the den's well, thinking of the Pokemon they wished to face in its rare Gigantamax form. A Pokemon of the chosen species would somehow find its way to the den, and become empowered by it, assuming that Gigantimax form. If the raid boss was defeated, the wish that was bestowed upon the Wishing Piece would come to fruition, bestowing the legendary G Max factor to that Trainer's Pokemon within the same line. Still, although only that one trainer would gain such a benefit, a one on one fight with such a boss was unreasonable, and the scientists who had built a base camp at the Wishing Well found such battles useful to monitor for their research on the Dynamax phenomenon. It wasn't really that long ago when Power Spots began showing up in places of power in the Fizzytopian Region, so the information on Dynamax, and especially Gigantamax, was extremely limited. The scientists therefore also offered excellent rewards to those trainers who would o out of their way to assist with such battles. A scientist and researcher himself, though with a different specialty, Darik would have been more than happy to give them a hand, the rewards just being an additional bonus.

The wishing trainer had asked for an opportunity to fight and get the G Max factor for Gigantamax Toxtricity, a Pokemon that at its base, Darik knew quite a bit about. A Pokemon that, like him, was quite partial to punk. Upon hearing the summons for help with this battle, he knew he'd have to bring his own, non G Max factor, Toxtricity, Amped Up form. This was a rare opportunity for him to go full kit, and maybe one of the last for awhile, so he'd slapped on his black denims, gelled his mohawk, and set off for the well.

A bright light emerged from the well, and the giant Pokemon rose out of it in all its glory. "Hmmm, I can't tell which form this is," Darik said, checking the information on his PokeDex. "It looks like when Gigantamaxed, but the Amped Up and Low Key forms of Toxtricity are identical. I'll have to observe what it does and see from there." If nothing else, he might be able to spot the form when this raid was over and it shrank back down. If they did such a thing here at the Wishing Well. He wasn't sure. He'd never participated here before, after all.

In front of him, in position to battle, was his Toxtricity, El Hefe. Strapped to El Hefe's arm was a set of Werewolf Claws. This would be a bit of a change up from the Toxtricity's normal fighting style, which was usually based upon strong shouts and special attacks, but Darik knew it was possible this Gigantamax Toxtricity shared the same ability trait as his own, in Punk Rock, so his best special attacks wouldn't be very useful here anyway. El Hefe needed to learn to adapt to a more physical fighting style when needed anyway, and he had the perfect move to start with here.

"El Hefe, use those claws for a Drill Run!" he called out.

OoC: Drill Run (80 BP, Werewolf Claws)

Gigantamax Boss Toxtricity
★★★★★
Health Gauge: 78%

Trainer Status: N/A

Raid Boss Attack Summary:
Attack 1: Max Shockwave (0 BP)
  • All abilities cleared!
  • All stat changes reset!
  • Toxtricity is no longer confused!

Attack 2: Acid Spray (40 BP)
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Lopunny): 240 HP

Attack 3: Boomburst (140 BP)
  • Raves (Golurk): 400 HP [Immune]
  • Slash (Toxtricity): 218 HP

  • Slash (Toxtricity): 218 HP
  • Missingno. Master (Golurk): 400 HP
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Lopunny): 22 HP [SpDef -2]
With their foe now before them, the raiders prepare to fight with a salvo of strong super effective attacks, aided largely by a Screech from Gligar. The exception to this is one of the Golurk, striking with a Dynamic Punch to confuse the boss. The Gigantamax Toxtricity doesn't seem to overly appreciate the debuffs, clearing them as well as the raider's abilities with a Max Shockwave before targeting the Lopunny for a bit of damage and a special defense drop in the form of an Acid Spray. Then comes the attack everyone likely brought Ghosts to attempt to deal with. Boomburst. The sound wave rips through the area, shredding at the health of the smaller Toxtricity as well as the Lopunny, luckily striking two of said Ghosts who shrug off the blow with immunity. Finally, the Sand Tomb set up this round swirls around the boss signaling the end of the round.

Dynamax Initiative: CrazyCreeperKid, Lopunny
  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.

  • You have until Sunday, July 18th to place your order.

Things had gotten off to a really good start. Why would they think any different? Toxtricity was confused. Toxtricity had harshly lowered Defense. And even though they were about to push Toxtricity to the point of putting up a shield, Terri and Bear had the means at their disposal to take care of more of such a shield than was usually possible. Things were looking good, and it wasn't as though Toxtricity had some sort of trick up its sleeve that would allow it to undo every bit of that in one fell swoo-

...well, shit.

Terri gave a small sigh. She couldn't pretend she didn't consider the infamous shockwave to be a possibility, but for it to be the first damn thing that that Toxtricity whipped out, before any manner of attack, before any of its almost assuredly huge variety of moves. Was it even in danger of hurting itself in confusion by attempting this? Would they ever know the answer to that one? Had Toxtricity started its end of the battle by hurting itself in confusion, would anyone know whether it had been attempting this shockwave or if it had simply been attempting a regular move? So many questions remained unanswered, and if Terri was being honest, now probably wasn't the best time to start getting lost in thought pondering them.

The situation had not been lost on Bear, either. "...THIS DID NOT GO WELL," it droned. Its voice came out seemingly as even and impassive as ever, but Terri could pick up the faint traces of disappointment in the Automaton Pokémon's tone. "TOXTRICITY HAS REMEDIED ITS CONFUSION AND ITS REDUCED DEFENSE ALL AT ONCE, ALL WHILE ENSURING I CANNOT GUARANTEE THE HIT IF I WERE TO ATTEMPT ANOTHER DYNAMIC PUNCH."

"It gets worse still," stated Terri. "It's about to put up a shield soon. I was going to call for a Fissure to help take that out faster, but that would have been just as reliant on your No Guard."

"CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG," said the Golurk. "BUT IN SUCH CASES AS THESE, THESE RAID BATTLES, THE WILD POKéMON IN QUESTION DOES NOT TYPICALLY DEPLOY SUCH A TACTIC AS THAT SHOCKWAVE AS THEIR VERY FIRST ACTION IN THE BATTLE?"

"It is unusual," said Terri. "But not unheard of. Annoying, but perfectly within the realm of possibility. We'll simply have to make do with the situation for now," she said simply.

"IT APPEARS SO," agreed Bear. "WHAT IS YOUR PLAN, THEN, MISS TERRI?" it inquired.

Terri gave a small shrug. "What else?" she responded. "The way forward is pretty straightforward, is it not? Bear, use High Horsepower!"

"AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI!" responded Bear as the Ground/Ghost-type set to work. The Golurk was still disappointed that its Ability was rendered sadly useless for the time being, but at the same time, it wasn't like the clay colossus couldn't still contribute. Whether this move hit Toxtricity itself or a shield, they'd be helping move things along, and they both agreed in that moment, that they would gladly take that.

OOC: Bear used High Horsepower (95 BP).

The offensive assault from the raider team dealt a serious blow to the Toxtricity, leaving it confused but still relatively intact. It released a shock wave of Dynamax energy in response, clearing its own confusion, but also stripping away the abilities of the raiding party. This could cause an issue, Darik thought, since El Hefe's Punk Rock ability trait was one of his greatest defenses against the boss's litany of powerful sound based moves. It likely had the same ability as well, which meant a significant increase in the power of those moves. It them proceeded to spit up a vile, acidic substance, spraying it all over the raid party's Loppuny, dealing some damage, but, worse, lowering its capabilities of Special Defense. Following that up, it let loose a massive bursting soundwave. Darik knew the move well, the peak sound move in raw power: Boomburst, a dangerous spread move.

Having been temporarily stripped of his protection against the sound waves, the raid boss Gigantamax Toxtricity's massive blast of sound dealt a serious blow to El Hefe, as well as the previously targeted Lopunny, dropping nearly half his health and dropping hers dangerously low, exploiting the debuff it had inflicted on her Special Defense. Luckily, the other two Pokemon in the path of the powerful rippling waves were both Golurk, the two Ghosts being naturally immune to the attack.

The situation was not great for El Hefe or the allied Lopunny, and El Hefe was bent over slightly in pain from the heavy hit, but the remaining four raiding Pokemon were still in pristine shape, being untouched. Given common trends of these raids, it was likely the boss Toxtricity would be erecting its barriers soon. Until then, he'd let the heavier hitters with same type Ground moves lead the charge. He'd be able to help cover the role of shield breaking for them.

"El Hefe," Darik said. He perked up, shaking off the sound based assault. "Don't give up now! The max barriers are going to come up soon, so let loose with your Steel typed Gummi Bomb to chip away at them!"

OoC: Gummi Bomb (Steel, 60 BP, Werewolf Claws)

Gigantamax Boss Toxtricity
★★★★★
Health Gauge: 71%
Shields Up: 3
Status: SpAtk +1, Sand Tomb (2-3 Rounds)
Trainer Status: N/A
KO Count: 1

Raid Boss Attack Summary:
Attack 1: Max Ooze (95 BP)
  • Missingno. Master (Golurk): 257 HP

Attack 2: Snarl (55 BP)
  • Median Dia (Palossand): 382 HP
  • Raves (Golurk): 282 HP
  • Slash (Toxtricity): 139 HP
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Lopunny): 0 HP

Attack 3: Sludge Wave (95 BP)
  • Median Dian (Palossand): 235 HP
  • Raves (Golurk): 135 HP
  • Connor (Gligar): 243 HP
  • Slash (Toxtricity): 21 HP
Raid Challengers:

  • Slash (Toxtricity): 21 HP [SpAtk -1]
  • Missingno. Master (Golurk): 257 HP
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Lopunny): 0 HP [Must Sit Out 1 Round To Recover]
Pumping some damage into their foe, the raiders manage to force the Gigantamax Toxtricity to throw up some shields, a fair chunk of which are quickly smashed through by the continuing salvo. In retaliation, the boss unleashes a Max Ooze on one of the Golurk. This boosts the boss' Special Attack in preparation for a Snarl, doing hefty damage as it hits two of the Ghosts, knocking Lopunny out as a result. Finally a Sludge Wave comes out, washing over a fair chunk of the remaining raiders and poisoning one of the Golurk at the same time. Poison and Sand Tomb then tick away to signal the round's end.

Dynamax Initiative: Connor, Gligar

It led off with a powerful Poison-typed Max move, a Max Ooze. The Golurk it hit seemed unfazed by the hit, but the likely drive behind it was more for its secondary effect, causing its offensive capabilities on the special side to increase. With the boost from the previous same type move, the raid boss Toxtricity's Snarl and Sludge Wave almost caused El Hefe to fall down, unconscious. The Lopunny that had been so thoroughly battered earlier was not so lucky, falling to the widespread sound move. Thankfully, most of the raiding squad seemed to be in good shape, the Gigantamax Toxtricity having little that could cause most of them much issue.

Still, there was more work to do in this battle. The strange barriers had, as predicted, come up, and they were most of the way through blasting away at this round of them. "There's more shields to pop, so let's continue with our assault of Gummi Bombs!" he called out to El Hefe.

It was possibly risky, sticking with that move for shield-breaking. But he knew El Hefe didn't want to just rely on his Drill Run technique over and over. He wanted to test out his capabilities just as much as his Trainer did

Bear might not have been able to do things the way it and Terri had been wanting to, but the contribution it was able to make regardless was not nothing. High Horsepower was still a powerful Ground move, and against an opponent with a massive weakness to said type. As crucial as carefully-planned strategy was in these raid battles, there was still something to be said for raw power at a time like this.

And then it was Toxtricity's turn to attack, and the first thing it did was to bombard Bear with a forceful blast of... poison? "IT'S NOT VERY EFFECTIVE," the Golurk droned triumphantly. "IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THESE SO-CALLED RAID BOSSES' UNDERSTANDING AND COMPREHENSION OF TYPE MATCHUPS IS... MINIMAL."

"Don't get ahead of yourself, Bear," Terri warned her Golurk. "Max Ooze might not be a strong Max Move, but it's dangerous all the same."

"...INDEED," considered Bear. "EVERY MAX MOVE HAS A POTENT SIDE EFFECT OF SOME SORT. IF I HAD TO GUESS, I WOULD SAY THIS PARTICULAR ONE SERVES TO BOOST THE USER'S SPECIAL ATTACK?"

"Exectly," Terri nodded gravely. "It's probably about to follow up with some special attacks..."

And as it turned out, Terri was absolutely right. Mercifully, Bear was not on the business end of anything beyond the initial Max Ooze, but their allies weren't quite as fortunate. The other Golurk was taking damage from both subsequent moves, as was a sight that sent an involuntary shiver down Terri's spine- a Shadow Palossand. It wouldn't be accurate to say that Terri had an outright fear of Palossand, but after that one time she was almost eaten by one, she was certainly a lot more wary of the species than she used to be. And seeing one as a Shadow Pokémon on top of it all, that was... unsettling to her, to say the least. Nevertheless, Terri shook her head and focused her attention squarely on the battle. The Shadow Palossand was an ally, at least at this point in time, and she took comfort in the fact that if it tried to hurt her, Bear would destroy it where it stood.

"ARE YOU ALRIGHT, MISS TERRI?" asked Bear. Terri blinked in surprise- she hadn't realized that her Golurk had looked back to her, and was noticing her discomfort.

"...yes, yes, I'm fine. Thank you, Bear," Terri nodded with an appreciative smile. "Just a bad memory, that's all. So... I see Toxtricity put up a shield?" she added, glancing over at the protective barrier Toxtricity had up by this point.

"AFFIRMATIVE," confirmed the Golurk. "AND WHAT IS MORE, I SENSE THAT MY ABILITY HAS RETURNED TO ME. FROM THIS, I FEEL LIKE I CAN REASONABLY GUESS AS TO THE APPROPRIATE COURSE OF ACTION AT THIS MOMENT."

Terri nodded. "I'm inclined to think you're right, Bear," she stated. "And I think the time is now! Fissure attack!" she commanded, gesturing to Toxtricity's shield.

"AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI!" boomed Bear, slamming a gargantuan fist down on the ground before it. The ground cracked open from the impact, creating a deep chasm that continued to open up in the direction of Toxtricity! Obviously this wasn't gonna wrap this whole thing up just like that, but it'd certainly, at the very least, deal a higher-than-average amount of damage to the shield.

OOC: Bear used Fissure (0 BP; OHKO move hitting shields; user has No Guard).

This gigantamax boss is so boring I'm going to take a nice, long rest (0 BP).

Gigantamax Boss Toxtricity
★★★★★
Health Gauge: 58%
Shields Up: 0
Status: Def -1, SpAtk +2, SpDef -1, Sand Tomb (1-2 Rounds)
Trainer Status: N/A
KO Count: 1

Raider Healing Summary:
CrazyCreeperKid (Lopunny): Cheer
  • Slash (Toxtricity): 221 HP

Raves (Golurk): Rest
  • Raves (Golurk): 400 HP
Raid Boss Attack Summary:
Attack 1: Max Ooze (95 BP)
  • Raves (Golurk): 243 HP

Attack 2: Encore (0 BP)
  • Toxtricity was Encored (locked into Gummi Bomb)!

Attack 3: Sludge Wave (95 BP)
  • Median Dian (Palossand): 64 HP
  • Raves (Golurk): 72 HP
  • Slash (Toxtricity): 93 HP
  • Missingno. Master (Golurk): 86 HP
Raid Challengers:
  • Median Dia (Palossand): 64 HP [SpAtk -1]
  • Raves (Golurk): 72 HP [SpAtk -1, Asleep]
  • Connor (Gligar): 243 HP
  • Slash (Toxtricity): 93 HP [SpAtk -1, Encore (3 Rounds)]
  • Missingno. Master (Golurk): 86 HP
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Lopunny): 300 HP [Fully Recovered]
After some brief healing by the raiders, the remaining shields are taken out, and a fair bit of damage put onto the boss. Another Max Ooze comes out, slamming into the now sleeping Golurk for some hefty damage before an Encore sees the raiders' Toxtricity locked into one move. Finally comes a Sludge Wave, greatly damaging the raiders and leaving everyone in a sorry state. Sand Tomb ticks and Lopunny rejoins the fight as the round ends.

Dynamax Initiative: Median Dia, Palossand
  • You have until Wednesday, August 4th to place your order.
