Hermione is decidedly unlike most Weedle- she is highly intelligent, knows way more moves than is usual for her kind, and does not wish to evolve. She has a talent for cooking, and quickly became the team's chef. Her cooking skills are nothing short of amazing, and her teammates always eagerly await mealtime thanks to her. She is inquisitive to a fault, and is quite learned on many subjects, to the point where an entire room of Keith's Secret Base was set aside as her own personal library. She takes notes by dipping her tail stinger in ink and using it as a pen, a practice which eventually permanently dyed her tail stinger black. Her love interest is Scorpius, even after his evolution into Drapion, the drastic size difference discouraging neither party. She gets along fairly well with most of her teammates, and those that underestimate her do not do so for very long- she shows a definite skill for battle, and continually strives to expand her list of attacks (a tricky feat for a Weedle, but she manages).

Bio:
Ariana is a shy, quiet Garbodor who just wants to feel like she belongs. When she first came to Keith, she warmed up to him almost immediately, and now shows a certain reluctance to leave his side. Though Keith tries to help her become more sociable, if she is unnerved enough, she will run back to Keith and hide behind him, even now that she's actually taller than he is. She is intensely loyal to Keith, and is often the first to speak up in his defense if anyone were to bad-mouth him. She also shares Hannah's love for hugs, and the fact that her original Trainer refused to hug her is theorized to be a part of the reason why she became so shy in the first place. Part of what makes her love Keith so much is that he never so much as hesitates to hug her whenever she wants to be hugged. Though now that she's a Garbodor, her hugs tend to be more... bone-crushing than they used to be. But she's getting used to her new size and strength.

The Stardust Fields. A beautiful grassy plain that was but one of the many beautiful locations in the enigmatic Cloud Garden. It was also a popular destination for Pokémon fights, and indeed, one such battle was to happen here today.

At first, nothing. And then, a small, dark speck could be seen in the distance, getting gradually closer and closer. Eventually, one could see that it was in fact a dark grey Scolipede with piercing red eyes, and riding on the Megapede Pokémon's back was his Trainer.

Keith Masters approached the Stardust Fields with a grin of eager anticipation on his face. Few things excited him quite like a Pokémon battle against a skilled Trainer. He'd never faced Liza in a battle before, but she was the current Trainer of an Audino formerly trained by Helena, Keith's blue-eyed Banette and older sister. And if half the rumors that reached Keith about how strong that Audino had become were true, he knew he was in for a great battle today.

At last, they approached the battlefield. Another thing that had Keith's interest about this battle was that this would mark his friend Rowan's debut as an official battle referee, and sure enough, he was there, ready to get underway, as was Liza, Keith's opponent.

Keith climbed down off his Scolipede's back. "Thanks, Salazar," said Keith, holding out a Poké Ball. "You take a good rest."

"Scoli," nodded Salazar as Keith withdrew him back into his Poké Ball.

"So, dis is a double battle?" Meowth asked.

Keith nodded. "Liza's idea," he replied. "It's gonna be pretty interesting, for sure."

"I dunno," murmured Meowth. "Youse prefers single battles, I thought?"

"True," smirked Keith. "But you're forgetting one thing, Meowth. I'm from the Hoenn region- the birthplace of the double battle. Double battles may not be my favorite way to do things, but I can certainly work with them. Just ask Gemini, Mustard, and Nagini- I've had to use them in a double battle back when I was invited to help test the Battle Pike." Keith then turned his attention to his opponent. "Good luck, Liza," said Keith. "Let's make this a fun battle!" Liza then sent out her Pokémon. The Milotic was a familiar species to Keith, having very briefly owned one himself back when he helped his friend Hyrem to evolve his Feebas, but the other Pokémon wasn't such a familiar sight, and so he took out a purple Pokédex, aimed it at the opponents, and flipped open the cover, which was adorned with a pale yellow skull and crossbones insignia.

"Amaura, the Tundra Pokémon," said Keith's Pokémon. "Amaura is an ancient Pokémon restored from a fossilized part of its body that had been frozen in ice for over a hundred million years. In the distant past, Amaura lived in a cold, peaceful land without the threat of violent predators like Aerodactyl and Tyrantrum."

"Dey look pretty powerful," Meowth remarked. "Wat's da plan?"

"Just relax, Meowth," grinned Keith. "I know who I'm using."

"Oy," Meowth sighed. "Why do I get a bad feelin' about dis?"

"Force of habit would be my guess by now," replied Keith. He plucked a Poké Ball and a Cherish Ball off his belt, enlarged them both, and hurled them forward. "OK!" he exclaimed. "Hermione, Ariana, I choose you!"

From the regular Poké Ball emerged a Weedle. The Bug/Poison-type was unusual among her kind for many reasons. She was 50% larger than what was usual for her species, and her tail stinger was dyed jet black. And that was just the physical side of things- Hermione was also highly intelligent. If she wasn't the smartest Pokémon on Keith's team, she had to be close to it. Furthermore, unlike most Weedle, she had no desire to evolve, ever. She was more than strong enough to bypass the Kakuna stage and become a Beedrill whenever she might please, but she was more than content to stay in the Weedle stage, to prove herself in this stage. In addition, she knew way more moves than one would expect a Weedle to know, helped in no small part by the various moves discovered within the Fizzytopia region that could be taught to virtually any Pokémon, but Keith had found ways to teach her even more attacks beyond those, as well. It all came together to make Hermione one of the most unusual Weedle in the world, and Keith wouldn't have it any other way.

From the Cherish Ball, in a dazzling display of rainbow light, emerged a large Garbodor. This would likely come as a surprise to both opponent and referee, as it wasn't that long ago that Ariana was still an adorable little Trubbish. However, following an attack by Team Rocket in Static Town, Ariana had evolved into Garbodor. She was still in the process of getting used to her new size and strength, and Keith felt that this battle would be the perfect opportunity for her to do so. She turned and looked back at Keith, who smiled and gave her a reassuring nod. Ariana nodded back, then turned back to face her opponents, looking slightly more confident.

Keith grinned- the battle was ready to get underway. Ariana was looking as ready as she was gonna look, and Hermione had bowed to her opponents, her sharp head stinger catching the sunlight in the process. And he too was ready- he saw no reason to delay things. "OK!" he grinned. "Ariana, use Rock Polish, then hit Milotic with your Seed Bomb! Hermione, blind them both with Flash, then use Hidden Power on Amaura!"

"Will she-" the young women's words seemed to cut off at the end, "Is she going to be alright?" Liza finally said, with a hint of concern in her voice.

Audino, the pink bipedal Pokémon continued with her examination before turning around and with a small smile, nodded. Bringing relief to the trainer's heart. A sigh escaping her lips.

Lucy, the trainer's Litwick who was seating on top of the women's head this whole time translated Audino's diagnoses. Apparently Smooch had attracted a fever due to the sudden changes in weather they had been experiencing in the area. The temperature dropping before getting a spike of heat, which was harmful to the half Ice Type Smooch. All the baby needed was some rest, but unfortunately she wouldn't be able to participate in any match that day.

"I should just cancel the match..." Liza pondered, as her Smoochum opened her eyes, "Smooch..." The Psychic/Ice Type sat up, despite everyone's protest and in her telepathic voice told her trainer, "Go on and win for me." before passing out and being caught by the Audino, the Nurse Pokémon laying the baby Pokémon's head back on the pillow.

Liza kneeled close to her baby Pokémon and began petting her blond head gently, the trainer looked at her Litwick and Audino with a burning question in mind, "We've been training for months...who should I bring now?"

~*~*~

In the end, someone among the team decided to step up and volunteer, although their battle prowess was still a mystery- Liza had to admit having her come along would make for a fantastic battle, beautiful even.

Liza arrived and met with the referee along with her opponent before taking her place on the arena, "Thank you for picking up the match," Liza politely addresses the ref before turning her attention to her opponent, "Good luck to you and let's make this a match for the ages!" She announced before pulling two Pokéballs from her waist, tossed the two with capsules clicked in and stickers in place, a Premierball popped open to reveal a Milotic with multiple pink petals dancing around the water serpent's body, while at the same time an elegant melody played as dark petals showered out of the Safariball that contained the Fossil Pokémon Amaura!

This, this was not their stage, but they would make the most of it that they could and enjoy the hell out of it too!

"Let's do our best, for Smooch!" The trainer yelled out, trying to feel as upbeat as possible.

"Milooooooootic~!"

"Amauraaaa!"

"Boa, shroud yourself and Amor in a Safeguard then use Aqua Ring! Amor use Magnet Rise and strike your opponents with an Icy Wind!"

She's very emotional, to the point of crying if she doesn't get her way and can get lonely when she realizes that pushing her friends/family away comes with grieve consequences.

And with that done, let the battle (and math T_T) begin!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

With introductions done, two trainers find themselves facing each other next to the Cherry Tree, their Pokémon in front of them, a battle about to ensue. Rowan installs himself at the bottom of the tree.

“I want a good and fair battle here, no hitting below the belt so to speak, and good luck to you both. May the best man or woman win. Also, please be careful with this tree, I’ll most likely be standing under it most of the time. Though don’t feel excuses to use it if you feel like it. I’m sure I’ll be written to be at a different part of the field in such a case. Perks of being a referee and all that. Anyway, I wish you both the best, and let the battle begin!”

Ariana is surprisingly enough the first to get something going as her body starts to glow and all the bumps, stumps and pieces that stick out get smoothened like a Polished Rock. Boa and Amor meanwhile though stick closely together, as if they’re up to something. Hermione, smart is the little Weedle is, recognizes the danger in that and charges up energy inside her nose, which turns bright red as if she were a Christmas Stantler, and unleashes it in a big bright Flash of light.

It is to no avail however, as Liza’s Milotic Boa has also been charging up energy which she projects outwards, covering both herself and her partner in battle Amor in a large green dome of energy. The light of the Weedle’s Flash hits the dome, but it goes no further as the dome acts like a Safeguard, protecting Boa and Amor from any such harm. Amor herself uses the time the Tender Pokémon has bought her to cover herself in a yellow glow of electrical energy and disk of electrical currents form beneath her, rising the Amaura just enough of the grassy plains to prevent any ground-based attacks from hitting her. It’s almost as if a magnet from the sky pulls her up.

Ariana though has seen enough, she’s locked and loaded and ready to take aim for a shift and most painful strike. The Garbodor moves in with her right arm in position, she’s looking quite a bit like an artillery gun, much to the pleasure of the young referee. Shy as she might have been, it does nothing for the result of the attack, as when three green orbs of energy blast out of the pipes that make up her right hand fly thought the dome Boa can do nothing else but look on in fear.

Hurt and in pain Boa tries to catch her breath back and recover, for which she luckily has the time as most of battle now takes place around her. One again though, orbs of energy are being formed, this time a ring of small orbs circle around Hermione, the Weedle too is ready to attack and sends the orbs flying towards Amor, who does her best to avoid them, but not quite used to her new hovering state she gets hit by the full brunt of the attack which causes her to cry out in pain too. With a tear in her eye she is quick to get her revenge however. The Amaura, beautiful as the Ice-type looks, blows out an even more beautiful looking Icy Wind. The soft gust of wind quickly covers a wide area in front of Amor, capturing both Ariana and Hermione in the glittering created by the ice crystals embedded in the wind. For Keith and his Pokémon though the wind is truly chilling.

Boa meanwhile has been bought all the time she needed by her partner to recover, with the Garbodor and Weedle struggling in the cold the Water Pokémon has used her energy to surround herself with eight rings of water, of which she now absorbs one in a mysterious burn mark in her neck.

The battle raged on, Liza's two beautiful Pokémon were giving it their best against the Poison Type Specialist's Pokémon. They weren't Liza's cup of tea but well, beauty was certainly in the eye of the beholder and by watching the way Keith cheered his two Poison Types on, they must've meant a lot to him to have raised them as well as he did.

"Great job all around you guys! You guys are doing great so far!" Liza yelled and clapped enthusiastically, trying to encourage her two Pokémon to do their very best.

Flames casted her water serpent in a warm glow, in stark contrast to the aqua rings surrounding her, while Liza's Fossil Pokémon- an old soul levitated above the ground awaiting its next orders in anticipation and possibly revenge...

"Amorrrrr!"

"Milooootic!"

"The match just started, so don't expect things to go so smoothly every round, now then- Boa fire off a Disalarming Voice on Keith's Garbodor and Weedle, then hit them both with Twister...Amor keep the pressure going by tossing an Ancient Power towards Keith's Weedle and striking them both down with an Icy Wind once more!"

The battle was off to an exciting start, with both sides seeming very well-matched. Both of Liza's Pokémon, Keith could see, were holding items. In fact, he got the strangest feeling he recognized both items, almost as if he'd owned both of them himself. He knew this to be the case with the Flame Orb Boa was carrying, naturally- hard to forget the circumstances under which he came to own that particular object. The Rainbow Egg Amor was carrying, however... he got the same vague feeling, though he couldn't remember it very well...

But this was no time to dwell on such random things! The battle was continuing! Liza was giving more commands, seeking to go on the offensive. But Keith had a few ideas up his sleeve...

"Ariana, use Rock Blast on Amor!" Keith ordered. "And follow up with a Smack Down! Hermione!" he added, addressing his Weedle. "You focus on Boa! Let's pile up the damage with a Thorns attack, then hit her with an Electroweb!" He grinned, confident in the orders he'd just given.

The battle continues with little rest for Boa, having only just taken in the first of her rings, she’s already ordered to attack once again. Unable to hear her trainer that well with all those other rings of water swirling around her, Boa hears her trainer wrong. Which is only a good thing really as the Milotic lets out a deep saddening wail that goes to the bone. Boa’s Disarming Voice moves both Ariana and Hermione to tears, and it doesn’t leave Rowan untouched either.

The battle has to go on though, and Ariana is the first who Keith talked back to her senses. As asked of her she now summons a ring of rocks around her. They circle around her to gain some speed before the Garbodor sends a flurry of Rocks Blasting towards Amor, who’s still standing on her disk of electric energy. She sees them coming and tries to get out of the way, but unfortunately for her she fails to do so in time and gets hit by the rocks, one, two, three times. The Amaura cried out in pain, but she recovers quickly and it’s clear she’s angry too. Amor’s face cries thunder and in her anger she calls forth all the Ancient Power that slumbers deep inside her as a giant silver-white ball of energy takes shape in front of her.

Hermione in the meantime has the horn on her head glow green with Grass-type energy and has it aimed at Boa. Then, only a fraction before Amor throws her ball or Rock-energy towards the Weedle, Hermione shoots a flurry of Thorns-like bullets at the Milotic like machinegun. Her attack is cut short though when the Amor’s orb slams into her and knocks her back quite a bit as the ball of energy is, despite Hermione’s extraordinary height for its species, still as big as the Weedle herself is. Still though, Thorns she fired fly through Boa’s rings of water with ease and sting her everywhere, causing an extremely uneasy feeling for Milotic, combined with the necessary pain whenever she moves.

The pain however does not stop Boa from retaliating. She howls and then breaths out a fast spiraling Twister of wind. Its powerful winds pluck the leaves and small twigs from the cherry tree Rowan stands under, and he too has too has to use all his power to stay on his feet. But the real victims are Ariana and Hermione. Fast as the Twister moves they have no chance to avoid it and the little twigs slapping them only add their suffering, but once it has pasted they both stand ready to strike back. And striking back is what they do.

Ariana now charges an orb or Rock-energy of her own, this one being gold colored, while Hermione is acting more like a Spinarak than a Weedle. It doesn’t take long for Ariana to launch her attack and with blistering speed the golden orb hits Amor and Smacks her of her disk and back Down to the ground. The attack is painful, but Amor is quite happy to be back on the ground. She does feel more comfortable there and makes herself stand firm on her feet, ready to unleash another beautiful looking Icy Wind. Once again the air fills with a glittering cold air current covering both Ariana and Hermione, chilling them down once more. But it is Hermione who has the last word. The little Spina- Weedle finishes her Electro Web and throws it at Boa and Amor, quite literally catching them by surprise.

Boa though still manages to absorb another ring of water. She needs it more than ever now being both burned and covered in thorns.

The battle was doing rather well, Keith thought- Boa, in addition to her burn, now had Thorns to contend with, and Amor no longer had Magnet Rise going for her. Everyone on both sides had taken damage, and the benefits Ariana reaped from that Rock Polish were long gone, but both opponents were slowed by the Electroweb.

"Alright, we're doing good- now let's keep it going!" Keith encouraged his Pokémon.

"Weedle!"

"Bodor!"

"Now let's do this!" Keith grinned. "Let's focus on Amor- Hermione, use Hidden Power and follow up with Firestream! Ariana, Rock Blast, then Drain Punch!"

"Let's keep on pushing towards victory! Dig in deep and give them everything you got!"

I see, they think they can score an early victory by knocking out one of my Pokémon first? Boy are they in for a surprise...just, hope this plan of mine works...

The situation was looking bleak, there was no telling if her plan she had in mind would work. It had to. She tried telling herself.

"Amor use your Rainbow Egg to replenish your health with Softboiled. Follow it up with Icy Wind! Boa, use Facade on Weedle before hitting them both with Disarming Voice!"

Maybe I should add rounds so...: Round 3

Keith encourages his Pokémon to keep going and is continuing his assault, now focusing solely on Amor who’s most in trouble. Hermione, is the first to get her attacks going. The Weedle creates a ring of orbs summoned by a Power Hidden deep inside her. The brownish balls of energy circle around her before Hermione sends them all flying towards Amor, who’s still bothered by the Electro Web and is thus unable to react in time to the onslaught. The Ice-type cries out in pain due to the nature of the attack, she hasn’t seen the brunt of it yet as more is still to come.

Ariana meanwhile had been summoning her own orbs that form a ring of Rocks around her. They are distinctively smaller than previously however. The Trash Heap Pokémon Blasts the rocks towards Amor, who sees she’s being ganged up on my both her opponents, and tries to protect herself. The fossil-Pokémon breaks open the Rainbow-colored Egg she’s been holding onto all this time, it releases a bright white glow and quickly after a large ball of energy forms above Amor. Then, right at the time rocks start flying all around her, hitting her once or twice, the large orb above her gets absorbed into the Amaura’s body. Amor glows and suddenly looks surprisingly rejuvenated, as if nothing has happened. Her pain is gone, the tiny scratches disappeared and she looks all fresh and ready to go, as if the battle hasn’t even started yet.

With all the action going on away from her and two opponents focused on her teammate, Boa has slithered around the battlefield to get herself in the best possible position to attack. Boa’s aim is at Hermione, the little pest that struck her with all these annoying thorns. She’s enraged and engulfs herself in an erratic orange aura and quickly and painfully tackles Hermione from a blind spot. The Weedle, while bigger than normal, has nothing against a serpent the size of Boa and gets knocked away like a ragdoll. Boa’s attack hit her hard, way harder than it normally would, and it visibly leaves Hermione hurt.

As a matter of fact, Hermione looks as if she’s on her last legs. Still, she’s determined to get through the pain and to complete Keith’s request. She takes some quick breaths thinking back of that one time she had a Cranberry Vodka, disrupting her breathing rhythm and causing her to hiccup. It’s not just any hiccup though, Hermione is hiccupping a Firey Stream of red-hot bubbles that fly towards Amor. The bubbles explode open on impact but luckily for Amor it doesn’t hurt her too much, and neither does the heat leave a burn.

The Amaura is really having her hands full with both Hermione and Ariana focusing on her, but she does have time to attack herself too. Using her now signature attack Amor, blows out a most beautiful yet deadly Icy cold Wind infused with brightly sparkling ice crystals. The wind spreads out wide to cover a large area in front Amor, capturing both Hermione and Ariana in it, giving Ariana quite some problems to power through it. The cold is slowing her down, but with her single-pipe hand is raised and covered in a green aura Ariana plows through the wind. Then, the moment Amor has completed her attack Ariana swings her hand at the Amaura with full force, delivering a powerful southpaw Punch straight into Amor’s face literally Draining her energy and restoring Ariana’s.

Boa sees it happening and, worried as she is about her teammate and partner, unleashes a Disarming Voice, both hurting and relaxing Keith’s Weedle and Garbodor stopping them both from continuing their attacks on Amor. And once again Boa absorbs a ring of water into her body.

Liza breathed in a sigh of relief that her Fossil Pokémon was able to successfully survive such a bombarding assault from their opponents. Her lovely serpent also, going up and beyond of what was asked of her. The match was still tough to call, so all Liza could do was hope for the best!

"Keep going! Don't let up! Show them, we will not be so easily taken down!" Liza yelled encouragingly.

"Boa, chill your opponents out with a Blizzard, then fire a Hidden Power (Ground) on Garbodor! Amor, give Garbodor a taste of your Zen Headbutt and follow up with Ancient Power on Weedle!"

Soft-Boiled! Keith should have realized that was coming. He used to own a Rainbow Egg himself. In fact, he could've sworn it was that same Rainbow Egg, but that was neither here nor there. Anyhow, the healing technique enabled Amor to survive the onslaught, and now Liza was setting things up for an onslaught of her own- a mixture of raw power and type effectiveness that would do a great deal of damage to both of Keith's Pokémon. A great deal of damage that, Keith had a feeling, his Weedle couldn't withstand.

"Hermione looks pretty beat," Meowth observed, eyeing the Bug/Poison-type. "Dis battle ain't lookin' too hot."

"Yeah, well, it ain't over 'til it's over," Keith retorted, adjusting the brim of his Mega Hat. You know me better than that by now, Meowth- you know we're just getting started! I didn't go to ridiculous lengths to teach Hermione all the moves I could teach her just for the hell of it, you know- I taught her those moves to make her ready for as many different situations as possible. Trust me, I got me a plan here."

"Better get goin' on dat plan fast, den," said Meowth, eyeing the exhausted Weedle with concern.

Keith knew Meowth was right. But he also knew he himself was right. His Weedle was, without a doubt, one of the strongest of her kind, if not the strongest. Certainly she knew a great deal more moves than the average Weedle, which hadn't been easy to achieve, considering Hermione didn't come into his ownership until just after the laws regarding TM usage were made a great deal stricter in the Fizzytopia region. Expanding Hermione's diminutive movepool required no small amounts of creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness on his part. The moves which were discovered within the Fizzytopia region, what could be taught to any species of Pokémon, he'd tracked down one of every single kind of item what imparted such moves. Other items which weren't TMs but still taught moves- there was a provision in the rules allowing such items to impart their moves to normally incompatible Pokémon, prompting Keith to track those down as well, up to and including trading for a years-old slice of chocolate cake just to teach her Swift. Helping Hermione to achieve her lofty goals was no small feat, but Keith had proven himself up to the challenge. And now, now that it came time for the results of such extensive training to be put to the test, neither he nor she was about to give up!

"Alright, you two!" Keith exclaimed to Hermione and Ariana. "We won't be beaten so easily, either! Now let's show them we still got some tricks up our sleeves!"

"Weedle!"

"Gar!"

Keith smiled- his Weedle and Garbodor were still just as raring to go as he was. "Then let's do this!" he declared. "Ariana, use Protect, then blast Boa with your Thunderbolt attack! Hermione, unleash your Unfinished Symphony, and hit Amor with Hidden Power!"

Round 4: Ambiguity!

For both trainers it is obvious that the battle won’t take too long anymore. But neither is ready to give up just yet and encourage their Pokémon to give it their all. It’s a message that’s not wasted on Boa who immediately starts off blowing an icy cold and powerful wind filled with ice shards and snow over her two opponents. The frigid air of the Blizzard doesn’t completely hit the intended targets however, Ariana pulls up a blue dome of Protective energy to completely nullify the attack and diverts a the brunt of the force away which, fortunately for Hermione, reduces the force she’s forced to endure.

Amor meanwhile used the time her battle partner bought her to charge a great amount of Psychic energy into her head. She now has her mind cleared of any distracting thoughts and feels completely Zen, she’s focused and knows exactly what to do, which is to connect her head to the abdomen of the Trash Heap Pokémon in front of her. And that is just what she does, she charges forward and delivers a painful Headbutt to Ariana right at the moment she pulls down the shield that protected her causing the Poison-type to cry out in pain.

Hermione meanwhile has moved herself slightly out of harm’s way, which is a good thing considering how incredibly weak she is at the moment. Still, seeing her friend get hurt makes her wish to stop it. Then, as if Arceus itself heard her wish, a ray of light shines down from the sky and from it a Togetic descends from heaven playing the fabled Golden Fiddle. The sheer beauty of the sparkling instrument leaves all the Pokémon on the Stardust Fields in awe. The beautiful sound in produces when the Togetic plays it transfers to Hermione and inspires her to sing the famous ‘Unfinished Symphony’ as her trainer had asked. The haunting melody of the song itself combines with the heavenly sounds of the Golden Fiddle mesmerizes all who hear it and create a cloud of musical energy around Boa and Amor’s heads. Ariana seems to be free of this effect, yet she too seems to be confused by the question of why this privilege of hearing the Golden Fiddle and Unfinished Symphony has been bestowed upon her. It matters not though, as when the Togetic ascends, Ariana has to face her adversaries again.

Boa, mature as she is, is the first to try and fight through her current state and does so with great effect, at least for this round. The Sea Snake surrounds herself with glowing orbs of energy, harnessing the Hidden Power of the Land Snake, and fires the orbs at the Garbodor. Ariana is unable to avoid the many orbs that come flying her way and takes the full force of it. The powerful Ground-type orbs explode on impact and cause great pain, but Ariana is ready to fight back. She charges up a large amount of Electric energy and retaliates by sending and an even more powerful Thunderbolt back at Boa who is now the one to cry out in immense pain and shock.

Meanwhile, and just like her partner, Amor has been charging an orb of herself too. She calls upon the Ancient Powers of her ancestors to once again summon a giant silver-white ball of energy in front of her. She then tries to do launch the orb towards Hermione, but due to her confused state the aim is off and the attack barely scrapes the Weedle. However, despite the fact that the attack barely did any damage at all, it was all that was needed to push the already hurt Weedle over the edge. Hermione collapses and is unable to get back up again.

“Hermione is unable to battle!” Rowan steps in as is his task as referee, “Keith please return her and continue the battle with Ariana. It is now a two against one situation.” And so end another round, Rowan knows the battle is getting close to end. Hermione is already down, Ariana looks sluggish and hurt, Boa is still suffering from all her statuses. Strangely though, only Amor seems to be looking good. She’s glowing brightly, as if she’s had a mysterious boost. And once again Boa absorbs a ring of water into her body.

Keith gritted his teeth- it had been his hope that Ariana's Protect would shield her from Unfinished Symphony, but alas, the shield had gone down before Hermione could execute the move. Moreover, the Amaura was able to fight through the confusion long enough to land a devastating Ancient Power on the Hairy Bug Pokémon.

Keith gave a small sigh as Rowan ruled Hermione unable to battle. Nodding as Rowan asked him to withdraw the Weedle, Keith held out the Poké Ball. "Come back now, Hermione!" Keith said, as the ball's recall beam pulled Hermione back into the sphere. "You were great," Keith murmured to the ball. "Take a good rest- you've more than earned it."

"Dis don't look too good," Meowth observed, and looking at the battlefield, Keith could see that Meowth was right- not only was Ariana still confused, but it was clear just by looking at Amor that the dreaded side effect of Ancient Power had kicked in- this was not going his way!

"Well, at least they're still confused as well," Keith reasoned. "The outcome here is anyone's guess now, which means we still have a shot." He thought for a moment- physical attacks were out of the question at the moment. He knew that a physical blow would snap either one of them out of Unfinished Symphony-induced confusion, he had to bear that in mind. "OK, Ariana, it's up to you now!" he called to his Garbodor, hoping that speaking to her loudly and clearly might help his words work through her confusion. "Use Focus Blast on Amor, then let fly your Sludge Wave attack!"

Knocking out one of your opponents Pokémon in a double battle should be a joyous occasion. Considering that the threat of taking two Pokémon head on dwindled to just one...however, looking at the battle field a sick feeling was dwelling inside the trainer's stomach- the confused state her Pokémon were in, made it nearly impossible now to see who the winner of the match could be...

"Thank you! From the bottom of my heart! For pushing so hard, not only for me but for our companion Smooch," ahh yes, even if she couldn't tell whether her Pokémon could understand her words, she tried reminding them why they were fighting in the first place, for the sick Smoochum who couldn't make it to participate in the battle taking place right there, herself.

"This next round might be our last, so dig in deep everyone! Find the strength inside to bring a victory home!" Liza cheered her Pokémon on, "We won't rest until it's over!"

At that exact moment she also recalled what it meant to someone under the influence of Unfinished Symphony- she had to tread lightly here if she wanted to win.

"Boa use Hidden Power (Ground) and try to distract Garbodor with your Brine long enough to give Amaura the chance to concentrate and launch an Aurora Beam at the Trash Heap Pokémon! Amor even if it's a little bit of a risk- use Zen Headbutt at the Poison Type!"

Liza didn't know if her combination would work, she knew inside her Pokémon heads were full of jargon, but she just hoped that they could understand her and the feelings behind her words long enough to pull it off...

Liza did everything she could. Collapsing her two hands together, she anxiously awaited for the results of this next round...

Round 5: Drawing conclusions

Rowan is paying close attention to the three still standing Pokémon. He knows this is it, the final all defining moments of this battle. It’s two against one, but with all Pokémon affected by various conditions to varying degrees, there’s no telling who will come out on top. But for now the moment both Boa and Ariana are doing well to fight through their confusion. Ariana holds her hands close together and is desperately trying to concentrate all her energy into one big ball in between them. Boa meanwhile is splitting her attention towards several smaller balls of energy drawn from her Hidden Power, and with her being, at least for the moment, less affected by the confusion she’s ready to fire off her attack well before Ariana has a time to respond to it and the Poison-type gets hit by the full force of the flying balls of super-effective Ground-type energy. Thankfully, due to the intense Focus Ariana is able to keep the ball of energy intact and manages to send it Blasting towards Amor. It comes at the cost of power and accuracy, but it soon proofs it matters not.

The ball of pure Fighting energy hits Amor, who has been waiting for Boa to create an opportunity to attack, at her back. It’s not a full hit, but due to a combination of the severe power behind the attack and the absolutely crippling weakness the Rock- and Ice-type has against Fighting-type moves it still brings Amor to her knees. She cries out in pain, a true wail that would break the heart of even the toughest of warriors, before the Fossil-Pokémon faints. She’s knocked out and unable to continue.

Boa sees it all happening and with tears in her eyes the water snake prepares to retaliate, but suddenly, just as she’s about to fire an all-powerful Brine at Ariana something snaps and in her confusion Boa completely misses her attack. Instead it is fired harmlessly into the sky, or so it seems. The water that’s shot into the air ends up coming down in the form of a saltwater rain, located roughly above Ariana. The Trash Heap Pokémon may have been saved from a direct attack, but indirectly she still takes a lot of damage. The water that pours down upon her seeps into all the little wounds that cover her body and create an awful lot of pain and discomfort. The last word however is for Ariana, fighting through the bit of the confusion that’s still bothering her, she sends a Wave of Sludge all around her, making sure any unwanted lack of accuracy loss is negated by the wide spread nature of the attack. As such, Boa has no other option than to brace herself and deal with it, which she impressively does. The wave washes over her, but where Ariana already counted her win Boa is still standing.

Rowan is quite surprised by the outcome at this point. But then, suddenly, Boa collapses. The Burn, the Thorns and the effects of the still Unfinished Symphony take their toll on the Milotic. She has battled hard and fought well, but as referee Rowan has no other choice but to step in.

“Amor and Boa are unable to battle! Victory goes to Ariana and her trainer Keith! Congratulation Keith, it was a hard fought victory but your Pokémon pulled through in the end, well done.” he then turns to Liza, “You’ve done well. As have your Pokémon, give them the rest they deserve and if you keep this level of performance up, I’m sure you’ll win your next match. I can see Double Battles suit you and I can see you master this style should you continue down this path. Very well done indeed.”

Hermione get 1 XP for her part in the victory (deposit here)
And as consolidation for their loss Amor and Boa both get 1 XP too (deposit here)

Once again, PM any question if any are left unanswered about this match.

----------------------

Nice battle by the both of you, loved the different approaches to it, MM going for strong single-target moves, SBD making great use of multi-target attacks. The win could have gone either way till the very last moment and could have gone either way. It was great fun reffing all this, and I hope you both enjoyed my reffings too ^_^

Also, since this is my first completed battle I like to use this to give some bits of general advice to the both of you and everyone else that reads this. Trainer Battles take place in a 3D environment, make use of it! Movement is highly underrated from what I’ve seen in all the battles I’ve read through, while it can create a lot of very fun and effective strategies. Also, in terms of the order of ordering, in my experience it pays off to save super-effective off-type attacks for when you order second and to be a bit more conservative when going first as the one going second could potentially counter all your moves. And corresponding with both of those advices, be careful of how you order too because how you order is sometimes more important than what you order.

The battle was getting down to its final moments, with Keith counting on his confused Garbodor to take out two opponents at once. "Ariana! Focus Blast!" he commanded.

"Gaaaar..." Ariana murmured. Though the confusion clouded her mind, her Trainer's voice managed to push its way through, and the words registered in her mind. She began charging up the powerful Fighting-type move, and even when hit by Boa's Hidden Power, did not lose her focus.

"Now! Fire the Focus Blast!" Keith grinned, pointing at Amor.

"BODOR!" exclaimed the mildly-confused Garbodor, unleashing the Focus Blast. While not exactly a direct hit, the imperfect execution of the move was offset by the Rock and Ice-type's massive weakness to Fighting. The Amaura fainted on the spot, now making this a one-on-one battle.

Keith grinned as Boa's confusion kicked in at just the right moment, causing the Brine attack to misfire completely. Said grin vanished, however, as the Brine, shot up into the air, rained back down onto Ariana. It wasn't as hard-hitting as a direct hit from Brine would've been, but it still caused more than enough damage for Keith's liking. "Ariana!" Keith exclaimed. To his relief, however, the Brine rain didn't finish off his Garbodor, and there came back Keith's grin in full force. "OK!" he exclaimed. "Finish it off with Sludge Wave!"

"Gaaaaar..." Ariana mumbled, once more fighting through the confusion to summon a massive glob of purple sludge, before unleashing it all at once. The intense Poison-type move washed over Boa... and left her still standing!? But then, Keith grinned even wider- for just as it seemed that Boa had endured the Sludge Wave and was ready to keep battling, she kept taking damage- Hermione's Thorns and Unfinished Symphony proved invaluable assets here, and the burn inflicted by Boa's own Flame Orb proved her ultimate downfall. The Milotic also fainted, and Keith, in his utter disbelief, was declared the winner.

"YES!" Keith cheered. "Thank you, Rowan," he said in response to their referee's words, before he ran in and hugged his Garbodor just as she shook off her confusion completely. Tears came to Ariana's eyes as it sank in that she managed to pull this off, managed to win them the battle, and she tightly hugged Keith back.

"Man, dat was a close one," Meowth observed.

"Yeah, sure was," Keith agreed. Once he and Ariana stopped hugging, he approached Liza and offered a handshake. "Good battle, Liza," he said with a smile. "Boa and Amor are really good. I hope we can have another battle sometime."

OOC: Thanks for reffing, Escalion, and thanks for a great battle, sbd! This was a lot of fun- too close to call until the very end, just how I like 'em!

*Ariana grew to level 39!*

*Ariana grew to level 40!*

Every action that followed-

“Boa use-”

Was met with an opposite reaction, but just like when you make a choice, there are multiple decisions that can make or break any situation. Today, regardless of what the outcome was, Liza knew her Pokemon did their very best.

“That’s it!” the referee called out, “Keith and Ariana are the winners!”

This was not her stage, but regardless Liza also did her best.

Running onto the field, Liza Marin a natural-born coordinator made her way to check on her Pokemon. Both Amor, her Amaura and Boa, her Milotic, could barely muster any strength to get up, so the Lass just sat by their side, rubbing their long slender necks affectionately.

“There, there. There will be other battles, other avenues to show off our awesome moves and the important thing is we fought till the very end.” While there were orders the trainer wished she could take back or try something different, the point of losing wasn’t to be ashamed of the outcome, it was to reflect on how to better one self, a stepping stone to winning in a much larger competition.

Liza patted her Pokemon’s heads until both her Pokemon felt comfortable enough to rest, and when they did she finally retrieved them inside the comfort of their Pokeballs.

She stood on her two feet before dusting herself off and walked over to Keith, thanking him for a well won match, “Next time will be different, and I look forward to a rematch if you’ll have one with me.” she tried sounding upbeat, but only because she wasn’t too excited to face someone waiting for her back at home. She thanked her referee too, and called upon her Charizard to fly her back to their current residents...

The trip took only a few minutes, and after mounting off her starter Samantha, she made her way inside the Pokemon Center, checked in her Pokemon for a good healing session and after they were all taken care of, made her way to her suit.

A sigh escaped her lips as she grabbed the handle of the door and pushed her way inside. She wasn’t expecting anything but as soon as she went inside the lights automatically turned on and a colorful array of confetti flew from the ceiling. “What’s going on?” Liza immediately said, as she noticed her Smoochum who had originally been sick in bed had suddenly looked all well, then suddenly a familiar sensation entered the young women’s mind, Mama, I’m so proud!

“Proud? Proud about what sweetheart?”

Of you! I know you don’t like battling very much but you, Amor and Boa all went out there and tried to win the match for me!

“I know, b-but we lost...” Liza said a bit disheartened.

No. Smoochum shook her head, causing her blonde hair to sway from side to side, If you learned something from your experience there isn’t a reason to call it a loss now is it?

“I guess you’re right,” Liza felt happy enough to smile a little.

You guess! Smoochum jumped into the trainer’s arms and gave Liza many affectionate kisses on her cheek, so many it felt like an Octillery had gotten a hold of the Lass’s face.

“I guess, there’s always next time!”

Thank you for the lovely match! Claiming 1XP each for my Milotic and Amaura.
