What about the misinforming and such of voters by Republicans, as I've understood it? Phone calls telling potential Obama-voters not to vote and going through voting lists with a fine-toothed comb to find a single typo so they can point fingers and go "you can't vote!" and so on? It really got in the news over here.

The way the video very artificially cuts at around the 04s mark suggests video editing, which in itself further invites the criticism that there's really no way for us to be able to appreciate whether he wasn't just doing this:

Step 1: Place finger directly above Obama.
Step 2: Make it look like he's about to press down. (Maybe even have him actually press down and select Obama! This can be edited out later.)
Step 3: Move finger directly above Romney.
Step 4: Select Romney.
Step 5: Move finger away from screen.
Step 6: Record illuminated Romney selection.
Step 7: during post-processing, edit the video footage accordingly and overlay an audio track of ambient background noise with the little chingle of the voting machine each time you press your finger down.

Voilŕ! Troll video.

I was going to go with troll video more on the basis that it would be too retardedly obvious a way to cheat. Everyone would notice and there'd be no way in hell anyone could possibly think they'd get away with it (especially given - if they had access to the machines to do that - they could do something much more subtle that the voter wouldn't notice).

Can't see the video because I'm on my phone, but if it's the one off Reddit, the guy has been defending his post and the press had been talking to him, so it's sure to be tried in the court of public opinion soon. So don't be so sure either way yet. I'm sure we'll get some convincing evidence either way before long.

As a friend of mine just pointed out; this is the one day every four years where Ohio is worth a damn to anyone.

I haven't voted in a while, but being a Presidential year, I did. The new voting machines are weird. No more giant metal box with a curtain that you turn a small knob and lever on to vote. Now you fill out a scantron test and feed it into a machine that feeds very similarly to my paper shredder. I'm a bit concerned.

Same here. I quite honestly would not be surprised if all it did was shred my vote, and they were all placebo votes.

I just read an article in Le Monde (a French newspaper) about the video and though they said nothing new, they did call Jill Stein "the ecologist".

See, I heard about the exact opposite problem with early voting. Machines were switching Romney votes to Obama, apparently.

Also, my school had a mock election today. If anyone's interested, the results:

Obama: 52%
Romney: 37%
Johnson: 3%
Stein: 3%
Other (Mostly Ron Paul, based on who I talked to): 5%

Largely unsurprising to me, considering most young people are going to be more inclined to vote for a liberal candidate. Out of curiosity, what part of the country do you live in?

Eastern PA. So yeah, we're about half and half among voting age people, (last I saw Obama was up by only a slim margin in the polls) but most of the high school seniors that can vote are Republicans. Well, seems like that anyway. I've noticed that most of the people that like to flaunt their political views are Republican, while there's hardly any vocal support for Obama, even though he came out on top in our mock election.

Romney is the projected winner in Indiana, according to local news. This is, of course, in no way shocking.

He has also won Kentucky. Obama has won Vermont. They are currently tied in Virginia.

According to NPR, we'll be getting the results for Ohio VERY shortly.

No surprise Romney took Kentucky. Sigh.

Well, Ohio polls are closing in about 5 minutes, but that doesn't guarantee a result then.

More interested to know the outcome of Mourdock vs. Donnelly. If we're stuck with a Tea Party senator for the next six years, I'mma be a sad panda. If on the other hand we get a Democrat, maaaaaaaaaaaaaybe just maybe it'll force the Republican Party in Indiana to snap out of it and offer a moderate candidate, giving people better options to choose from in 2018.

Haven't seen anything on that, but with the Romney/Obama numbers looking pretty close thus far, I can hope that Donnelly is at least holding his own. I'm not sure how Mourdock being a living-gaffe machine is affecting things, though, so it might give Donnelly a slight edge?

Right now, Florida is polling at 23% votes in - Obama is leading Romney 52% to 48%. Looks like he's going to take it. Then again, they're only off by a few thousand, so...
