Gee, Brain...
|
: I couldn't agree moar
I'm torn on the adding of secondary types, although I agree that they'd have to be careful with them to make them viable in the end game whatever they are. |

It should evolve into Napoleon, then into Man.

That just makes me hate the otter and like the pig more.

You guys are crazy.
Fire Starters: The pure fire Typhlosion was least useful until his inheritance of Eruption in HGSS and Charizard's death to Stealth Rock popularity in DPP. While those two fight over 3rd place, far beyond their reach are Blaziken and Infernape. Fire/Fighting is an amazing typage both for the dedicated sweeper (physical or special) as well as for the mixed sweeper (w/ Special Fire and Physical Fighting). Grass Starters: Have all been fucked regardless of their typage. Based on pure usage alone, Venusaur saw more use than Meganium in GSC due to Meganium's perceived inability to do anything good (sweep, wall, status-f0ck) and the then-popular use of Sludge Bomb and Razor Leaf or Solarbeam on Venusaur. Sceptile saw the most use of the three in RSE only to be shat on by 4th Gen. And as for 4th Gen, can we honestly say that any of the four see much use? My point here is that the presence of a second type neither made nor broke anybody. Water: ... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, GUYS? You're going to sit their and tell me that Swampert and Empoleon are least useful and that Blastoise and Feraligatr are most useful? What are you smokin', man!? "Hey, I'm Swampert. I'm weak to nothing except for a predictable 4x Grass weakness. And hey, guess what! I'm okay with that! XD" "Hey guys, I'm Empoleon. People said I was shit when D/P first arrived in May 2007. Everybody was singing Infernape's praises, and even Torterra was more popular than me. But then slowly but surely enough, people realized what I could do. And now I'm the king of the DPP Starters hill. :3" So the verdict is: - fire: a second type more often helps than hurts - grass: a second type makes no difference. Do whatever you want. - water: a second type is life-saving. And you guys want GSC all over again? Fack you lot, you crazy fuckers. :P ;) You say I'm nuts for ragging on 2nd Gen but at least I'm not the one saying Feraligatr is the bees' knees.

(double post ...?)
I sincerely hope that the water starter is going to be Water/Ice. If he is, then it may very well mean that GameFreak has The Death of Stealth Rock already penned and ready for print this autumn. That and other changes which enable ice types to actually do something in Multiplayer besides sweep would be cool. *cough* *cough* It'd be nice to be able to put Glaceon to good use. For such a smug, arrogant looking little prick as that grass starter ;p , I suppose the bad-ass Grass/Steel combination would be interesting. "OH MY GOD, 4X WEAK TO FIRE, LULZ, HOW UNUSABLE!" falls on deaf ears when you consider that fire is R.I.P'ing right now as is. It could be nice to introduce a badass creature whose only concern is a dying breed of Pokemon such that he helps resuscitate them by proxy of his own awesomeness. That, and it'd be pretty sweet to see this ferocious-lookin' salamander or alligator-looking creature that's got leaves and claws of steel. As for the fire type, it looks like they're steering him towards Fire/Dark. That would also certainly fit in with the promotion of White and Black, with the fire starter being the "Blackest" of them all. But personally, I'd like to see them try a new combination that isn't Magcargo-lol worthy. Something like ... - Fire/Electric (keep in mind, his yellow stripe could be a sign of something much more!) - Fire/Psychic (they've got a psychic pig already, true, but Grumpig blows. :P And Fire/Psychic sounds pretty fearsome. ) - Fire/New Type. This is what I'm hoping for the most and expecting to see happen the least.

Better verdict: Fix the type chart, then decide on secondary types.

Some Japanese verdicts ...
"To tell you the truth, we're concerned." "It's okay, it's okay! I've still got two more stages left!" The artist who drew this up said on his page, "It's not a Pokémon anymore." Somebody on Serebii insisted that the water dude doesn't look like an otter. He should be linked to this PhotoShop.

I think I can guess what moves they'll start with. In fact, I guessed back when they were silloettes.
Grass: Scratch Fire: Tackle Water: Pound I think the species sound accurate. Tsutaji being called a 'grass snake' is true Game Freak style, just like calling Sandshrew a mouse, when it is obviously a shrew. |

If I made a generation of Pokemon, all the starters would start with Splash and your first rival battle would end with Struggle.

I actually... really like them. My favorite is probably the Grass starter (save for the eyes - they are far too gigantic) so far but I do like the pig quite a lot. The Otter is kind of cute but... eh, I don't -love- it but I didn't love Piplup at first either.

The irony is that, from the silhouettes alone, I thought the one on the right would be my least favorite.
Now that I see what it looks like, the grass one only barely beats it out. And that's partially because I decided on that one, for better or worse, even before they were fully shown. |

Dammit you've made me go from completely hating that thing to wanting it.
Also, the male trainer has the best design of male trainers so far in my opinion. I'd say the same about the chick, but her 80's hair is really killing it. Also, a Fire/Electric would be badass o_o (4x ground oh well) POKABU FINAL EVO GO e: People are pointing out now that Pokabu isn't as much a pig as it is an aardvark.

Double post, sorry. Turns out a lot of people want Tsu-whatever to evolve into a grass/flying or grass/dragon and some say it could be inspired by the Quetzalcoatal.
I would not mind this one bit. In fact, PLEASE. Unfortunately, with it being based off a skink and all, I bet it'll just be a giant lizard/snake =/

Myself, I'm guessing Tsutaba will, if it does gain a second type, be part Flying or part Psychic. Of course, it could also be electric. The idea of a starter having Glare is making me happy. Especially seeing as it would be the first pokemon with Glare I ever raised. |

No, they stay the same animal (duh), but they aren't just bigger. Lookie at Feraligatr. Markings, claws, more pronounced spines, bigger jaws, padding, and different eyes.
Not just a bigger totidile. |
