What musical instruments do you play?
I'm expert at playing recorder (lol), my piano playing is rather good, and I have some subpar skills on my brother's guitar. Mostly just play game songs on all of those now, whether from sheet or by ear.

Can't play by ear at all, and I played tenor saxophone (rather badly).

I play keyboard at an amateur beginner level. (Can't even do both hands at the same time. ) And that's about it. I keep wanting to teach myself to play piano but it's an on-again off-again project, and has been for the past fifteen years. One of these days I should just sit down for like a year and do it. We'll see!

I've been taking piano lessons since I turned four. Geez, now that I think about it that's fourteen years Love classical music but I also mess around with learning songs from bands I like by ear. I play some video game music too, either by ear or sheet music. I've been singing pretty much my entire life as well. Never performed solo like I have with piano, just with a group like school or church choir. I rock out in the shower though, haha. I've played drums since elementary school as well, and have a drum set at home though I haven't really played that in a while. I've stuck more to mallet instruments like xylophone and marimba which I play in the school band and indoor drumline. And I just started picking up guitar recently and I'm having a lot of fun with that. I know a few chords so I can pick my way through a few songs, which I sing along to. Gosh I love music.

I've been playing piano for like 10 years, been singing for just about as long as well. I do video game music, popular music, a bit of classical music, and I write a bit of my own stuff too.

I play viola classically (string quartets, chamber orchestras, and a philharmonic), for about 3.5 years now, and occasionally play some vgm and popular music on violin and piano. Not professional yet but hopefully starting my degree fall of next year :0

Where to start... I played piano by ear since I was little (always only using one hand though ^^;), then played the recorder on 2-3rd grade, then got into the school band with the clarinet through the rest of middle and high school (I still have a deep appreciation when I hear this instrument play) and right now I'm slowly but surely practicing mother effin' ocarina.

I'm in band (technically not because I graduated from my band for... 13 days?) and I play a trombone.

Oh yeah, reminds me. I make a lot of electronic music on my computer, and then I play my own compositions on the instruments I play.

The perfect thread to show off(?) my awesome band nerdiness.
My main instruments I play are the piano and clarinet, both of which I've been playing for around 15 years. In junior high I also picked up the bass clarinet and the marimba, while in High School I learned the alto saxophone and oboe. I didn't stick with oboe for long, since someone else came in to take my place. I would switch between clarinet and bass for concerts, and clarinet and sax for marching performances. I ended up getting really good with marimba during a couple semesters in Winter Percussion, where I also got occasionally landed with the vibraphone and chimes. I would have loved to try some of the actual drums, but playing all those instruments in the pit was fun too. To this day I have never been able to get the hang of the trumpet. I tried for like 3 months and failed miserably, it was terrible lol. I'd like to learn the contrabass one day, as well as either the violin or cello.

HEY, COPYGOO HERE MAKING AN APPEARANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN LIKE A YEAR
I took a couple years of piano lessons in elementary school, then nothing for a while, and then when I moved to my current high school in the tenth grade I joined marching band. Started playing marimba, loved it, never looked back. Now I was recently accepted into NYU to study music education and classical percussion in the coming fall. My principal instrument is marimba but I'm also first chair clarinet for my high school, and I'm a good snare drummer and timpanist. I'm starting to learn drum set as well. I can struggle a bit through alto saxophone, and I'm not god awful at baritone and mellophone.

I've been playing the piezo buzzer since elementary school. That counts, right?

So, this is pretty old.
I'm playing really sloppy and not in a great mood at the time, part of why that particular riff got scrapped out of my actual songwriting, but hey. It could sound worse, especially considering I was playing on a cheap Rogue RA-090 dreadnought, the Ford Pinto of guitars. Intonation is weird on those things, and your high end always sounds super tinny and harsh. Edit: Equally sloppy and old. But hey, it is what it is. Last edited by tau; 01-28-2016 at 02:06 PM. |
