I lost an Unrated game to a guy who ditched his Maxx "C" while stalling (while I had Heavy Slump), and managed to Metaion my entire field when I had impotent traps (XYZ Encore, BTH).

However, immediately after, I go into a Rated game...

I don't believe I've seen anyone use Heavy Slump before, including you. But man if that doesn't look like a game-ending card. To go from eight to two in YGO ... and only after you've pumped your hand up too, not before ... man, yeah, it's hard to imagine any player being able to bounce back after that. Not sure if it'd fit into my 4-Axis Fire Fist deck's main slots, but it definitely looks like something I'll need at least two copies of in the sideboard. Except ... my sideboard's pretty cram-packed too. ^^;

The guy had used Reckless Greed, too, so he was down two turns from drawing, starting there. I peeked at my remaining cards and I didn't really have enough to do a typical assault, but with just Tricky and a Junk Synchron I could have killed him in three turns.

I've used Heavy Slump before, hitting a Monarch player who dropped a Maxx "C" while having a full hand. I didn't win the game immediately, though, that guy was a lot tougher than this one.

I'm maining Heavy because of Maxx "C" and for lack of other alternatives. The main reason I lost to the duelist earlier was I had XYZ Encore instead of CED.

Can't you use Droll and Lock Bird? I've never seen Heavy Slump around and yet D&R is an often praised card.

EDIT: Also, I think all Prophecy users have gotten dementia.

Droll & Lock Bird prevents both players from drawing cards, so I can't make use of T.G. Hyper Librarian. Stopping burns a Junk Synchron of which there's only three in the deck, versus Effect Veiler where I can simply bring out The Tricky as a follow-up play to a negated effect.

No, Maxx "C" hits my deck far worse than any other deck, because I can't draw cards without Special Summoning. Heavy Slump is the only real answer, and I still have to draw into it. It's pretty consistent at two + high draw power, though. It was absolutely worthless at one even with the high draw power.

So, because I am sick and tired of running into the 75%+ Ilswarm decks at where I'm at ratings wise right now, I decided to create an alt (Le gasp!) and try going from the bottom up. Here is where I'm at right now.

So far, I'm at 95/27/1 (seriously, who runs a Self-Destruct Button deck?). I can tell you that more than half of those losses are from Lightsworn(though you CAN see in the picture, I'm keeping track).

I'm surprised that Lancer Frogs and Gravekeeper's have done so well, though most people don't know how LaDD and Necrovalley work. I've met a couple of Dragon Rulers decks, one of which I beat with Lancer frogs, but otherwise I haven't seen too much "Tier 1/2" decks around. And NO Ilswarm thank the masses. That is the most boring deck to play against.

I got the snot kicked out of me by 3 Bujin decks in a row where I went second. Bujins were just too consistent with the first turn Yamato plays, and I couldn't even muster a response because of the weakened traps. I must confess I have a going first rate of <30% since I'm so bad at the RPS.

Really looking forward to the new list in a few days. Fudge everything. I want Heavy/my traps back.

Overlay Booster is pretty cool, as expected. I had to ditch The Tricky and Dark Simorgh, so I'm not 100% sure what's the better choice right now, but it's effectively a trade-off of aggro versus card advantage.

Skill Prisoner is also an excellent card, although it would probably work better with The Tricky.

I've heard that its alright in all honesty. After using it myself, its quite iffy. You often end up either not using its effect or discarding trap cards.

If I didn't have Shaman, Skill Prisoner is the card I would be using to protect Necrovalley.

Overlay Booster, after some testing, doesn't fulfill my needs. More often than not, the cards in my hand are rather useless so Overlay Booster saving me the -1 doesn't help much. Also, the utility with The Warrior Returning Alive isn't so hot, I usually only revive Junk Synchron anyway. I haven't successfully used Skill Prison once either.

Well that kinda sucks. :/ I know you were really hoping that Overlay Booster was going to be good.

Also Gravekeeper's Shaman is a target for Spy. That's pretty ridiculous.

Also, I'm debating adding 1 or 2 Mega Mobius to my Lancer frog deck. I can tribute a Treeborn and ronintoadin and still get the extra effect off, which is noice.

I honestly haven't played YuGiOh in years. The physical game I played like 5 years ago, the digital game I stopped right before Bikes and Cards became a thing, so anything Syncro and beyond I am clueless.

I never played it competitively, just collected, I did play starter decks vs starter decks with cousins but never grew smart enough to make my own deck (though virtually I did make my own decks).

I had a deck which had lots of level 4s, and pretty much disabled level 5s and higher or monsters with strong attacks. I love Underdog decks.

Well, as much as I find that most of the people who play it are boring, if you want to keep to that style as closely as possible, Evilswarm is the deck for you. Powerful Level 4 monsters and a Rank 4 XYZ that prevents the special summon of level 5 or higher monsters.

I personally feel like Anti-Meta is the closest deck to what "old" YGO is.

Big monsters attacking with huge power, and no use of fancy monster effects.

what the what. That's really pretty freaking crazy. Destiny HERO - Malicious at three allows me to put two level 8 Synchros on the ground immediately. Void Ogre and Stardust Dragon is incredibly hard to break through as well, and PZ helps get those annoying cards in your hand away. :P
