Cy woke with a start from a strange nightmare. He glanced up and found the moon barely higher in the sky. He hadn't slept long. He looked down at Wurmple and found him still asleep, coiled into a tiny ball on Cy's shoulder. Cy smiled and rose slowly, trying not to wake the little Bug. He looked at the paths around him, understanding that any move he made would be a random guess. He heaved a sigh and took the South path, wandering onward into the unknown. A pair of eyes watched him as he left the crown behind, blinking with curiosity... |

"Aw," Phantump remarked. "Well, maybe the ghosts will appreciate the effort," he suggested. An angry growl from behind them all, however, suggested otherwise. As everyone wheeled around, they were promptly met with facefuls of mud. "GAH!" Keith exclaimed. "Really!" Willa fumed as she tried to wipe the mud out of her face. "So rude!" Maribel exclaimed. "What?!" Phantump exclaimed. "Pumpka!" Autumn shouted. "HIPPO!" thundered Hippopotas. The mud itself wasn't bothering the Ground-type, so much as the fact that his Trainer's attempts at doing something nice were met with such a response. Before long, everyone had cleared the mud out of their faces. In the meantime, whoever or whatever had flung said mud was long gone. Hippopotas still looked rather steamed about the whole thing, but Maribel was able to calm the Ground-type down before withdrawing him. "OK, that didn't work as well as I'd hoped," Maribel sighed. "I'm sorry, Mom, Dad." Willa shook her head. "You were doing something nice, Maribel. That's never something to apologize for." "Your mother's right, sweetie," Keith added. "Even if it doesn't always work out the way you were hoping, it's always worth trying to do the right thing." "Well, right now, I think the right thing would be to leave this area alone," Phantump piped up. "Pumpka! Pumpkasaur!" Autumn nodded in agreement. Already, the Grass/Poison-type was starting to head to the South, with the clear indication that the others should follow, and so they did. |

“I know you’re trying to trip me up”, he mouthed at the bird, following the path West anyway. Talking ravens were a sign of madness if he remembered his literature right. It was very likely he had lost his marbles via brain scrambling at the disused fountain, and the legible squawk was just a trick of the mind. It would be impossible to test his sanity in such an insane surrounding, so he may as well aimlessly traverse and keep his mind busy. Ventress studied the Murkrow curiously as they passed, while Inkling bobbed ahead like the cold night’s air was her aquarium.

"Ugh, mazes." Archie groaned. Danny was sick with the Volcaronavirus, so they couldn't go together, so he had to go alone. He hated mazes. This one was magical too - complete hoohah garbage. "Let's get this over with then." he said and stepped forward, but Artemis, his Honedge, grabbed his arm with her hilt cloth and anchored herself to the ground with her blade - it was obvious she wasn't planning on going inside. "Don't be a wuss, you are a literal sword of death." Archie scolded. "It can't be that bad." And he walked over and pulled her out. "Besides, it's not like you can die." With that, Queenie shivered and fluttered closer to him, Joltik sank into his hair, and Artemis reluctantly followed, unsheathing herself and adopting a battle-ready stance. "Fuck me." Archie muttered as he walked into the thorn maze.

~~~Updates~~~ TheKnightsFury: You sit in the dead end, but there is literally nothing to do here. The disembodied laugh chuckled at you two more times, and while you can’t pinpoint exactly where in the walls it’s coming from, you can at least tell it’s from the west. Ironthunder, ChrisClark13, myahoo, lilboocorsola: As you passed by the fountain and made your way towards an exit, a small pair of tentacles rose out of the water. However, as something was about to fly one, one trainer ordered their Pokemon to electrocute the waters, causing whatever lied beneath the surface to screech in pain. myahoo, lilboocorsola: You embarked up the northern path, promptly turning west and heading that way for a short while before making a turn to the south. Eventually the path makes a u-turn to head north once again for another short while before turning east. The trail seems to stretch as far as the eye can see, and you begin to get a creepy feeling about this place. Dare you keep going or turn back now? ChrisClark13: You walk down the trail south of the fountain. It is a straight shot for the most part, with a short bend to the east followed by an immediate corner to the west, and then resumes its north-south track. At the end of the trail you find yourself in a familiar clearing… sixdragons: You head south from the crowned statue, turning west and travelling in that direction for quite some time. The trail then makes a u-turn east and goes in that direction for even longer until you turn north into a dead end. Just as you’re about to turn back, a yellow clawed hand rests on you and your Pokemon’s shoulders and before you know it, everything goes white for a moment… sixdragons: Your vision clears as you stand in another dead end, but this one is definitely different from where you were before. That being said, your only exit is to the north… Connor: You attempt to head south, but you fall flat on your face as something has tied your shoelaces together. A maniacal “Kekekeke” echoes in the distance. Missingno. Master: You head south from the defaced statue and head in that direction for a short ways until the path makes an abrupt u-turn and heads north for quite some distance. The trail then makes a quick east then west diversion before turning back north into another clearing… Emp: The Murkrow smirks as you head down the western path. You turn north and then west again, walking in that direction for quite some time before making a u-turn east for an equal distance. You turn north, then east again, then u-turn west and move in that direction until you become completely disoriented which direction you’re actually facing. Your vision blurs and as you spin around you can only make out three options; the first, the second, and the third, each one looking the same. King Ghidorah: Now in a new path, you make your way quite some distance through the winding back to arrive at a clearing that looks familiar… Emi: As you hold the cup of tea up by your mouth, you’re unsure whether this is a good idea or not. However, you press the cup to your lips anyway and take a sip. It tastes… not good at all, and you spit it out as a wave of energy passes through your head like a sharp headache. You suddenly feel extremely drained and promptly fall asleep where you sit. Pearl’s Perap: Weary from all of the walking and running, you decide to take a rest on the rusty bench. As you do so, you suddenly feel all the tension leave your body. An aromatic scent hits your nose and you look to see that a cup of tea is sitting on the table next to you. Raves: You head north from the maze’s entrance as the path quickly turns east and then north again. After a short walk, you come up on another split in the path… ~~~Locations~~~ Maze Entrance: (CrazyCreeperKid) As you step foot into the Maze of Shrubbery, you experience a strange sensation that you can’t quite trust your sense of direction anymore. There are three paths to traverse; to the East, to the West, and to the North. Spooky Tree: (Raves) As you enter the clearing, you are greeted by a rather sinister looking tree. Your options are East, West, or South back the way you came. It almost feels as if the tree is watching you, waiting to see your decision. Armored Statue: (King Ghidorah, ChrisClark13) You come across a rather large clearing that is highlighted by a prominent statue in the middle of a soldier with a shield in one hand and a sword in the other. Your options are South, West, North, North East, or East in the direction of the spooky tree. The sword seems to be pointing towards the west… Fountain: (Ironthunder, Maskerade, Zorchic) A rather unremarkable clearing that’s sole feature is an old fountain. The water jets have long since ceased their functioning, but the basin is still filled with a murky water. Your options are North, East, West, or South. Defaced Statue: (Connor) A dirty and dingy clearing that looks like it’s seen better days. There’s an old bust of a man, unrecognizable as it’s been vandalized and scribbled over with a marker. A muddy old garden gnome sits beside it. Your options are North back towards the fountain, South, South West, West, or North West. Discarded Furniture: (Emi, Pearl’s Perap) A small resting area littered with some discarded garden furniture. There is a rusty bench next to an old table that has a leg that looks like it’s about to fall off if you feel like taking a rest. Your options are West, North, or South. The Perch: (Missingno. Master) A lone Murkrow sits on an old manmade perch in the middle of a clearing. Your options are East, West, or South back the way you came. “EAST,” the bird squawks as it gazes down at you. |
It was only thanks to another clever trainer getting the idea electrocute the murky waters of the fountain that let them all finally escape. Curtis himself was feeling like he was gonna hurl. This unwelcome state of being unfortunately was shared by some of the pack as well such as Benny; who had retreated into Curtis's backpack to escape the madness. As well, Jin and Alexander were also feeling much worse for wear with Curtis having to carry both the Snowpix and the Riolu out. Only Helena, Mika, and Sasha were still standing- but doing so uneasily. Oh no, there they go- all collapsing together in one big cuddle pile. Following their lead, everyone all laid down to rest for a while. After a good few minutes, the world stopped spinning and everyone seemed to have mostly perked back up. "Alright, we're not going back that way. Everyone in agreement?" Curtis groaned out, a chorus of vocal sounds of agreement coming back from his team. Especially Benny to everyone's surprise. Who, judging by the reactions of the others, had launched into a full squeaking tirade about the evils of the fountain and was probably insulting the mother of whatever lived in there. But that was cut off by a loud bark coming from Mika, who seemed to have found a trail again. This time leading to the North East from the armored statue. "Alright everyone, remember to stick together. As we've seen there's Pokemon in here who love to play mean pranks on people- so be careful." All together, Curtis and his pack set off to follow this new scent trail... >Go North East
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals dared to manifest. Quoth the raven, “WEST.” Emp and his company were oblivious as the ebony bird’s beak twisted into a wicked smile, blindly following its caw down the westerly path. There were a whole lot of twists and turns from there, the wanderer unsure if the renewed flare of disorientation was natural or supernatural; his vision began to falter from there, the world spinning fast on its axis with no sign of slowing. He was far from out of the woods, Inkling attempting to offset the mental mindf**k with her own psychic prowess. It was a fruitless endeavour for such an undeveloped mind. Soon enough Morelull’s blinking headlights doubled, then tripled. Cradily must have had sixteen tentacles before Emp went to wretch. The nausea clawed at his throat, and he tried to force down the bile, but it was too late. His stomach kept on contracting violently, forcing everything up and out. His face was white and dripping bile, sweat, and tears. Emp lurched forward and sunk to her knees, head in the hedges in efforts to at least keep the trail he’d blazed clean for the next unfortunate maze runner. The pungent stench invaded his nostrils and he continued to heave, even though there was nothing left to go. Ventress gave him a pat on the back while the others hovered around sheepishly; they had never seen their master in such a sorry state. He forced himself upright for their sake, unable to regain his bearings but coming across a sequence of numbers. Wiping his chin he chose the Third – the magic number, so they said.
"Hm," frowned Willa. "A lot like Terri's Murkrow, wouldn't you say?" she murmured to her husband. "My thoughts exactly," Keith murmured back. Maribel, meanwhile, walked up to the perch, smiling at the Murkrow. "You've been out here all evening, haven't you?" she said to the Darkness Pokémon. "You must be getting tired and hungry." With that, she reached into her bag and pulled out two Sitrus Berries. She held onto one with each hand and held them close to her. "Here's my deal," she said to the Murkrow. "You get one Sitrus Berry now. You tell us which way to go- if you were telling us the right way to go already, just repeat yourself. And we'll go the way you tell us," she said. "If your directions help us get out of the maze, meet me at the end and you get the other Sitrus Berry. If you try tricking us, you won't get the second berry." Having said this, she held out one of the Berries to Murkrow, while keeping a tight hold on the second one. Keith and Willa exchanged surprised looks as their daughter proceeded to negotiate with the Murkrow, but didn't question it. Phantump and Autumn likewise exchanged looks of surprise- even the Pumpkasaur wasn't sure how this would go, but everyone present was sure hoping to find out. OOC: Sitrus Berries are #3-4 out of 5. |
