Gigantamax Boss Gengar ★★★★★ Health Gauge: 56% Shielda Up: 0. Status: Att -2, Def -1, Sp. Def -2, Burned, Reflect Type: Sableye (Ghost/Dark) Whirlpool (2 Turns Remaining), Misty Terrain (3 Turns remaining). Trainer Recoil Summary Sneaze, Houndoom: Flare Blitz Sneaze, Houndoom: 293 HP. Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Laser Focus (0 BP) Gengar focused intensely on its targets! Attack 2: Dazzling Gleam (80 BP) [CRITICAL HIT!] Meetan, Sableye: 191 HP Missingno. Master, Drapion: 280 HP Sixdragons, Gible: 0 HP ChrisClark13, Vulpix: 134 HP Attack 3: G-Max Terror (130 BP) ChrisClark13, Vulpix: 0 HP Raid Challengers Sneaze, Houndoom: 230 HP. {Flametongue [+25% Physical Fire damage]} (Poisoned) Slash, Mightyena: 300 HP. {Blackglasses [+20% Dark damage]} (Fully Recovered) Missingno. Master, Drapion: 280 HP. Meetan, Sableye: 191 HP. CrazyCreeperKid, Vullaby: 129 HP. Prof. Enigma, Rapidash: 400 HP. {Devil Horns [+20% Fire damage]} (Sealed: Fire Blast (1 turn)) Sixdragons, Gible: 0 HP. {Aegis of Frost [25% Def]} (Must wait 1 round to recover) ChrisClark13, Vulpix: 0 HP. (Must wait 1 round to recover) With one of their allies downed, the trainers push through and break the remaining shields around the massive phantom before assaulting him in a forceful barrage of attacks, and the Gengar seems to sweat it out a little as a pair of fearsome fire moves aggravate its burn some more. However, something in the jovial, playfully sinister demeanour of the Gigantamax pokemon snaps as the psychological effects of the underworld voices die down, with nothing but unnerving silence awaiting the raiders for a brief moment, the boss appearing to be lost in thought, but before the trainers can capitalise on their position, that's when it happens. Eyes dart to the hovering copter, and suddenly a thousand voices speak out, in unison, addressing the trainers, their pokemon and all who would happen to be watching the spectacle, every voice pinpointed to the very souls of the observers, not with mockery or malice, but with bemused sincerity. "Alright, No More Games. Let's See How Well You Handle Our Specialty Technique!" With that said, the Gengar remains silent, maw closed, before delivering the expected Cursed Body wave, Drapion released from the curse as the Rapidash finds its Fire Blast locked away, but what follows is much worse: With a sneer towards the Drapion's trainer and raising of an eyebrow, as if to demonstrate to Keith, the maw opens to an incredible blast of light that completely overwhelms the raiders, the boss having focused on the weak spots of the team with laser precision to score a critical strike on everyone affected! Even through resistance the Vulpix feels the sting, and the weakened Gible outright succumbs to the blinding light and falls over frothing at the mouth. With a hearty cackle, the Gigantamax pokemon then points his fingers to the helicopter, beckoning them to get a good look on his next trick, before giving a cheery yet menacing wave to the raiders and pointing the other fingers of the other hand to the Vulpix before executing his signature Gigantamax Move. Countless shadowy tendrils coalesce into dozens of solid objects, including chairs, clocks and tombstones, before raining max terror unto the fire type, who in the midst of recovering from the spotty lights in their eyes is unable to defend themselves, the Gigantamax move knocking them out on the spot. Satisfied, the Gengar then gives a small round of applause to himself before awaiting the raiders' counter offensive, evidently chuffed with itself even as Rapidash's trainer's band glows. Dynamax Initiative: Prof.Enigma, Rapidash.

It took Keith the utmost in mental fortitude to remain focused on the task at hand with the voices messing with him, and yet, when they so suddenly stopped, he wasn't nearly as relieved as he imagined he'd be- he regarded Gengar warily, steeling himself for what might come next...
~~~~~ "Did... they do something to it?" Willa murmured as she watched the news coverage. "Diana Macks isn't giving little whimpers that she thinks the camera can't pick up anymore." "Oh, I wouldn't say their troubles are over just yet," grinned Chuck. "I'd say that Gengar's about to get serious. It hasn't brought its A-game yet." "It hasn't?" inquired Willa. "Oh, no, indeed," chuckled Chuck. "It's a Gigantamax, is it not? Tell me, what haven't we seen this thing use just yet?" Willa's eyes widened. "...a G-Max move," she whispered as she focused intently on the- "Alright, No More Games. Let's See How Well You Handle Our Specialty Technique!" ~~~~~ Gengar's booming words, Keith knew that he wasn't the only one who would understand them- every syllable was beamed into the very souls of the Trainers, the Pokémon, and by the way Gengar acknowledged the Channel 890 news helicopter, the good people watching at home, too. And, of course, it went without saying, but also Diana Macks and Marv Liss as well as they were working tirelessly to broadcast the events as they developed. It was neither mocking nor malicious; Gengar now knew it had to give this its all, and that's just what it did. What followed was a positively cruel combination attack- Laser Focus followed by Dazzling Gleam. Critical hits. Critical hits everywhere. ~~~~~ "Laser Focus and Dazzling Gleam!" Chuck laughed. He'd produced a pad of paper and a pen out of seemingly nowhere and was jotting something down furiously on it. "Ooh, I must take note of that!" "Chuck!" Willa said sharply. "Are you not concerned for Keith and Scorpius at all?" "Oh, Scorpius is fine," Chuck said matter of factly, gesturing to the screen. "See?" Indeed, as Willa looked, she could see the Drapion still standing strong, roaring defiantly. "I've known that bug since he was an actual Bug-type. Trust me, he's tough. As is the man who trained him," he added seriously. Willa nodded slowly. "Right. You're right," she agreed. "I just... I didn't appreciate the laughter," she said curtly. "Ah," nodded the Gengar. "I do apologize for that, then- that combination simply never occurred to me. Simple, yet brilliant. Though do be prepared, for I sincerely doubt you've heard the last potentially inappropriate laugh from me," he added. Willa managed a small smile. "I suppose that's fair," she conceded. ~~~~~ And then came the fabled signature move of Gigantamax Gengar. Keith looked on in awe as the giant grinning ghost let loose G-Max Terror. The move targeted a Vulpix, knocking it out in an instant. But this was the extent of Gengar's latest onslaught- the time to fight back was now, and Keith knew it. Moreover, with Cursed Body's effect having worn off, the move to make here was obvious. "Scorpius! Dark Pulse!" Keith commanded. "DRAAAAAAA!" bellowed the Drapion, preparing to launch an attack once more. OOC: Scorpius used Dark Pulse (80 BP). |
Gigantamax Boss Gengar ★★★★★ Health Gauge: 48% Shields Up: 5. Status: Sp. Att +4, Whirlpool (1 Turn Remaining), Misty Terrain (2 Turns remaining). Trainer Recovery Summary ChrisClark13, Vulpix: Cheer. Sneaze, Houndoom: 480 HP. Trainer Recoil Summary Sneaze, Houndoom: Flare Blitz Sneaze, Houndoom: 479 HP. Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Shockwave (0 BP) All stat changes and abilities have been nullified! Gengar is healed of its burn! Attack 2: Nasty Plot (0 BP) Gengar's special attack rose sharply! Attack 3: Nasty Plot (0 BP) Gengar's special attack rose sharply! Raid Challengers Sneaze, Houndoom: 416 HP. {Flametongue [+25% Physical Fire damage]} (Poisoned) Slash, Mightyena: 300 HP. {Blackglasses [+20% Dark damage]} Missingno. Master, Drapion: 280 HP. Meetan, Sableye: 191 HP. (Sealed: Dazzling Gleam (1 turn)) CrazyCreeperKid, Vullaby: 129 HP. Prof. Enigma, Rapidash: 600 HP. {Devil Horns [+20% Fire damage]} [Dynamax: 2 Turns Remaining] Sixdragons, Gible: 300 HP. {Aegis of Frost [25% Def]} (Fully Recovered) ChrisClark13, Vulpix: 300 HP. (Fully Recovered) Taking initiative, the Vulpix's trainer cheers on the battlers as Houndoom is given a much-needed health boost, much to the apparent annoyance of the Gengar. This annoyance is further reinforced when the undamaged Rapidash dynamaxes, growing to enormous size, but before it can capitalise on its newfound power a triumvirate of offensive moves pushes the Gigantamax pokemon to erect its second set of shields, and the resulting Max Flare and retaliatory moves shatter a number of them. With the burn on its body grating at it, the Gengar's about ready to launch a counter-offensive, but stops for a brief moment as if analyzing his foes deeply. The Gengar is silent for a moment, but then gives a menacing grin as the spook's next words come out, sending a chill down the backs of the raiders. "...You Don't Have Any Means To Stop Setup, Do You?..." With that, the Gigantamax pokemon suddenly begins to inhale deeply, as trainers and pokemon cling literally for dear life, as the improvised shockwave saps away at the effects of their abilities, and the stat drops and burn on the boss are dissipated, swallowed into the void of the Gengar! Bracing themselves for a powerful revenge assault, the raiders instead are subjected to the sight of the boss boosting his special offensive power...and then once more, as the countless voices once more speak in unison, even as the Sableye finds itself unable to utilise Dazzling Gleam and Gible's trainer stands there, terrified even as the dragon and Vulpix return to the fray... " You Have Thirty Seconds To Stop Me, Then You'll Feel My Wrath... "Dynamax Initiative: Prof.Enigma, Rapidash.
The Gengar unleashed a critical Dazzling Gleam that knocked Gible clean off his feet. Dracen recalled the little Dragon, hand shaking. The color was starting to drain from his vision again, voices hissing in his ears. The Gengar spoke, but Dracen barely heard it as the world disappeared into fog. He stood, paralyzed, even as his Dynamax Band flashed with energy. Whorls of color danced at the perpheries of his vision. The Trainers and Pokemon seemed to move jerkily, twitching randomly. Dracen's grip on the Pokeball weakened as he broke out in a cold sweat. His breaths came out shallowly. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block out Gengar's influence. Out of the corner of his eye he caught the Raid Boss give him an amused look. The other Trainers began attacking again, and Gengar countered. A Rapidash Dynamaxed. Dracen barely registered any of it, even when his Pokeball sparked to let him know Gible was healed. Gible, possibly impatient, let himself out. He turned to see his Trainer sitting, knees drawn up to his chest, eyes wide and staring off into the distance. Gible made a soft rumbling noise in his throat. His Trainer wasn't in any condition to give him an order, but he didn't know what to use against this enemy on his own. He saw another Pokemon, a large horse, use a Fire-Type move. "Rrrble?" Gible considered the blast of fire that smashed a hole in Gengar's shield. "Grrrble." He built up a bit of heat in the back of his throat until smoke started to swirl from his nostrils, then shot it at the Gengar to shatter its barrier. He worried that he'd have to do the rest of this raid by himself...
"...You Don't Have Any Means To Stop Setup, Do You?..."
Keith's blood ran cold as he heard this. Clear Smog, Haze, Freezy Frost, Topsy-Turvy, his Drapion didn't know any of those moves, and after quickly looking around at his allies, he got the dreadful feeling that none of their Pokémon knew any of those moves, either. He could only look on, the terror mounting as Gengar first issued a forceful shockwave that undid many things- the lowered defenses, the altered type, all that good stuff. And then... and then came the horrible tension as everyone present could tell what was happening; that the Gigantamax Gengar was, repeatedly, using- ~~~~~ "-Nasty Plot!" Willa breathed. "And not just once, either, it looks like," grinned Chuck. "Nasty Plot is just like Petaya chips- you can't have just one," he chuckled. "This certainly makes for an interesting development." "Especially considering the Laser Focus and Dazzling Gleam combination we just saw it pull off," Willa agreed, nodding slowly. "Come on, Keith," she murmured. "I know this can't possibly be enough to rattle you..." ~~~~~ "You Have Thirty Seconds To Stop Me, Then You'll Feel My Wrath..." Keith was taking a few deep, calming breaths as he assessed the situation. Gengar was putting a timer on this. Thirty seconds. Half a minute to stop it before it would rain down all sorts of hell upon them. But with that shield still going strong, it would surely take more time to actually take it down. Keith looked around as the shield took hit after hit. His mind worked furiously. Haze wasn't an option. Neither was Clear Smog. No Inkay or Malamar, so no Topsy-Turvy. No Eevee, so no Freezy Frost. And he'd even briefly considered bringing Eon to this, too! It bugged him just how futile of a struggle this was turning out to- Keith's eyes widened. It came to him in a flash of inspiration. But it wouldn't be enough. And so he whipped out his Pokédex, pulled up information on his allies' Pokémon, grinning more and more as he saw certain moves coming up. One was Dark. One was Bug. One was Fire. But they all had a very important side effect in common, and that side effect was gonna take the wind out of Gengar's sails. As the barrier shattered, Keith took a step forward. "Now's our chance!" he announced to the others who hadn't attacked yet. "Gengar's wrong- we do have a way to stop its setup! Follow my lead!" He adjusted the brim of his hat as he turned to his Drapion. "Use Struggle Bug!" he commanded. "DooooooRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!" bellowed Scorpius, a reddish aura coming over his body. And then he threw his clawed arms wide open, releasing a pulse of that same red energy that would wash over the Gigantamax Gengar. The damage in terms of HP wouldn't be especially significant. The damage to its Special Attack, on the other hand, that wasn't nothing. Now to just hope that everyone else caught on and used the similar moves their own Pokémon had to hand... OOC: Scorpius used Struggle Bug (50 BP). |
So far things had been going... decently Curtis supposed. He didn't know that Gengars could talk their mouths off so much though. Talking while talking even with all those creepy whisper things. Something about the voices of the damned or something? Talk about a load of hot air! It's all just a bunch of weak insults! 'You'll never be as awesome as whoever?' Give me a break!
Though his Vulpix wasn't taking it quite as well as her empty-headed trainer. The voices to her were much more impactful, calling her weak- telling her that she didn't belong here- that she was fat and useless! Though if her trainer could withstand this so could she! She just had to remember what he had told her before the battle, that her Mystical Fire move made her an MVP here- even if she wasn't going to be doing the most amount of damage! Though that attack with the shadows... ...scary.... But it only proved that the Gengar was getting sick of her shenanigans so it actually only proved that she was doing something useful here! - - - "...You Don't Have Any Means To Stop Setup, Do You?..." "You Have Thirty Seconds To Stop Me, Then You'll Feel My Wrath..." Curtis calls back in response, "What is this, competitive battling? You watch a lot of TV or something!? Well, you're wrong anyways! Me and Annahime are just gonna keep doing what we been doing and you'll just have to like it!" Now, just gotta wait for the sheilds to break and- oh! It seems the other had the same idea too! "Now! Pour in another Mystical Fire and show him what we think of his buffs! Burn them away!" His Vulpix shouted squeakily, "VulpiiiIIIXXX!" with all her might as she sent forth a spiraling blast of flame! Mystical Fire (75 BP, STAB, will lower opponent's Special Attack by one stage)
Gigantamax Boss Gengar ★★★★★ Health Gauge: 42% Shields Up: 0. Status: Def -1, Sp. Def -1, Misty Terrain (1 Turn remaining). Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Sludge Wave (95 BP) CrazyCreeperKid, Vullaby: 0 HP Slash, Mightyena: 157 HP Sneaze, Houndoom: 273 HP Meetan, Sableye: 84 HP Attack 2: Max Flutterby (120 BP) Slash, Mightyena: 0 HP Attack 3: Thunder (110 BP) Meetan, Sableye: 0 HP Raid Challengers Sneaze, Houndoom: 210 HP. {Flametongue [+25% Physical Fire damage]} (Poisoned, Sp. (Must wait 1 round to recover) Prof. Enigma, Rapidash: 600 HP. {Devil Horns [+20% Fire damage]} [Dynamax: 1 Turn Remaining] Sixdragons, Gible: 300 HP. {Aegis of Frost [25% Def]} (Sp. Att -1) ChrisClark13, Vulpix: 300 HP. (Sealed: Mystical Fire (1 turn)) Thirty seconds. Taking initiative, the dynamaxed Rapidash unleashes another pyroclastic explosion upon the amplified Gengar, and as three others unload their assaults, the shields finally give way and shatter, reducing the Gigantamax pokemon's defensive capabilities in the meantime. With its special attack boosted massively, the raiders retort to the boss's taunts with their own defiance, and as a relatively weakened barrage of assaults rain upon the boss, the fiendish boosts garnered the turn before had been completely wiped out, and as the ghost type shakes off the last Snarl, he pauses, brow furrowed in an unreadable expression... "Kekekekekekeke! Respectable efforts, kids, you got yourselves outta quite the pickle, gotta respect that!" Giving a hearty laugh, the raid boss appears entertained, face showing no signs of frustration of any sort, and as another familiar cursed wave washes over the group, it is the turn of Vullaby and Vulpix to find their recently used techniques nullified as the seal on Sableye is lifted, but the celebrations are alas short-lived. "You've shown me you got smarts, but methinks it's time we put this show to a close. And whaddaya know, those thirty seconds are up! Ready yourselves, you ain't seen nothing yet!" And with that, the Gengar inhales deeply before spewing forth a vile deluge of sludge forth, thankfully not as powerful as it could have been as the putrid tsunami swamps over four of the group, the sheer volume and impact leaving the bird pokemon feet up in a noxious puddle, out cold while the two canids and Sableye are looking a little worse for wear. Next on the agenda, Gengar waves both hands and conjures two mighty assaults from each, a fearsome Max Move, the Flutterby rising up and slamming down upon the injured Mightyena, sending the poor pokemon down for the count for a second time in this battle, while the other lets loose a wicked lightning bolt that steers clear of Gible and instead puts the woozy gremlin into the dirt, the ghost pokemon clearly pleased at the results, including the defeat of a pokemon it deemed a bit of a concern. With such a brutal round, the storm clouds above greatly intensified, as the Gengar beckoned forth, guard down, typing neutralized, ready and willing to go all out. Dynamax Initiative: Prof.Enigma, Rapidash.
Ember (40 BP, STAB, it's doing no damage anyways) on Sneaze's Houndoom to activate it's Flash Fire!
- - - - Curtis grit his teeth as he saw his teammates' go down (well, their Pokemon but didn't those count as teammates too?). He clenched his fists assessed the situation as quick as he could. Annahime's Mystical Fire is down- not good. The intensifying clouds above signalled that everyone was on the verge of losing if things went south- really not good. The Dynamaxed Rapidash is still up- good. That other trainer's Houndoom with Flash Fire is still up- perfect. His heart pounding from adrenaline, he grinned. Well, time for some shenanigans he'd been thinking of since the start of the battle! "Annahime, this is gonna sound weird but use Ember on our friend's Houndoom! It has the same Ability you do, so activate it's Flash Fire and, everyone, get ready for some fireworks!!" He then pointed a defiant finger at the Gengar, "And you! We're gonna show you want we've got and it'd gonna bowl you over, so get ready to lose you giant wind-bag!" The sheer ridiculousness in the way her Trainer was acting made Annahime roll her eyes as she followed through on her crazy trainer's crazy orders. Calling up a move she hadn't used in ages, the pudgy Vulpix summoned up half-formed flecks of fire in her throat and blew them at the scary-looking skull-dog that was called a 'Houndoom'. That nightmarish beast had been going strong with reckless attacks this entire time and as it absorbed the flames from her attack- it seemed to be even stronger than before! Not quite matching up with the enthusiasm Curtis was outwardly showing, both he and his Vulpix watched the rest of their teammates launch their own attacks- hoping that this crazy idea would pay off.
Dracen twisted to look behind him. Left, then right, then left again. It was no use. The prickling along his spine wouldn't go away. Something was watching him, he knew it. He slapped the side of his head and pressed his eyes shut, trying to focus on the Gengar. Get out of my head, he thought at it. Get out of my head! Then he heard a voice that pierced through the fog of terror, a chilling voice that sounded strangely like it was trying not to laugh.
I left your head a while ago, kid. You did this yourself. Gible watched the enemy confusedly. the flame attack seemed to have worked ok. maybe that again? the ghost attacked some other pokemon with a sludgy poison move. Gible remembered something about that. he stood scratching his dorsal fin as the ghost continued attacking and chaos ensued. what was it? something about poison. something his trainer had said... he had been talking about weaknesses. poison was weak to Gibles ground type, that was it. so ground moves would work too! Gible stole a backward glance at his trainer, currently mumbling to himself. Gible shrugged tiny shoulders and stamped his foot, causing a small fissure under the ghosts huge tongue. a plume of sand and small rocks whirled out of the fissure, hopefully hurting the ghost. "Jesus fucking Christ." Ritchie said under his breath, watching the carnage the Gigantamax Gengar was forcing upon the raiders. This Gengar was inherently wicked at its core, and it could even speak! But Ritchie wasn't going to give up. The Gengar raised forth five seperate shields, that the raiders needed to destroy to try attacking it directly. It buffed its special power, but Ritchie and his fellow raiders were ready to stop that. The huge Rapidash let off an exploding column of fire, destroying two shields, and the Houndoom rushed forward valiantly, striking the shield directly with hot, fiery fangs, then the Gible shot forward a stream of fire, destroying the fourth shield, and finally, Shayd herself let off a destructive Dark Pulse, shattering the last shield and leaving the Gengar open for attacks.
And attacks they did. The first to attack was Drapion, as it wriggled itself then spread its arms forward, letting off a red energy that quickly cloaked the Gengar, lowering its special power! Similarly, the Vulpix alongside them let off a Mystical Fire, lowering it even further, followed by a Sableye doing the same attack as Drapion, and lastly, the Houndoom from before snarled, finishing off the special power onslaught. Gengar chuckled wickedly, and then shook off the attacks, the boosts gone, but it still very much standing. "Kekekekekekeke! Respectable efforts, kids, you got yourselves outta quite the pickle, gotta respect that!" The Gengar bellowed, and sent off a second cursed wave, this time disabling Vullaby! But it wasn't done yet, causing a large wave of poisonous sludge to sweep over a bunch of the raiding Pokemon, including Shayd! And with that, she was out. Rushing forward, Ritchie grabbed his Pokemon, and she was okay, but knocked out, it would take a round for her to recover, so Ritchie cheered on his fellow raiders instead. Cheering was said to have magical power in raids, so it was worth a shot. Cheering to heal Drapion.
