Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

Can I share your guys' friend codes with a friend of mine named Zschaun? He doesn't post on any Pokemon webforums, he's a friend I know irl here at Purdue. Poor guy, the only people he knows who own the game are me and his sister. That's not very cool for friend codage. He's a Japanese major who will be studying abroad next year in Tokyo. Nice guy. Let me know if you're interesting in getting his friend code.

Talon you can give your friend my friend code. It is no hassle with me whatsoever.

Yeah, Talon You can tell him he can add me. I got no problem with it.

You should get him to join UPN so we can organize trades and battles with him easier :P

Talon: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :x :x :x :x :x :x

If he joins UPN, ... dude, he wears a cross around his neck daily.

Skrusti: So?
Talon: HELLO? *points to doujins* *points to asshatness* *points to lots of non-Christian attitudes and stuff*
Skrusti: Ohhhhhhhhhh.

Maybe I can compromise by introducing him to [strike:2301b]Serebii[/strike:2301b] BMG and letting him run loose from there.

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

I think he's more worried about his friend calling him by his secret real name... Jacob.

Seriously Jacob, apart from your pornohoarding you haven't done that much on this UPN. And if you really get that flustered over being confronted by someone who sees you doing the things you mentioned (asshat, pornhoarding, Christian bashing) then... you probably shouldn't be doing those things.

And if you're more concerned about other people, rather than yourself, then sending him to BMG isn't much better, as Liam is a bigger dick towards Christians than anyone.

Umm, what exactly is wrong with that?

I want Diamond. Today. But I have to wait *sadface*
Reading up on the new additions is one thing, but I'm looking forward to seeing them for myself. It's only through playing that one can really appreciate it all.

Nothing is wrong with it -- I'm insinuating that most men who wear religious ornaments are religious, and that most religious folk don't mix well with doujin translators.

Talon let your friend join the serebii.net forums. He'll quickly lose any faith in organized religion, and turn into the most homicidal militant super atheist in all of existence upon doing so. ;)

It's about damn time. Made no f***ing sense to have eggs hatching at levels higher than wild Pokemon.

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

You guys seem to be pretty far ahead of me. I played for a little bit last night, and so far, I just have two Pokemon at Level 9: Piplup and Starly. I might catch another Pokemon and raise it up to Piplup and Starly's level... most likely a Shinx. I'm not really in a rush to fill up my squad, though.

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

Just remember -- Starly = classic textbook Attack Sweeper with his 120 base attack and 100 base speed (for final evo). So ... if possible :3 , and if willing to endure many hours of pain now (to avert many hours of sadness later :P), you should send Starly out to fight only those creatures which'll give him Att or Speed effort.

Which begs the question ...

Do we know what awards what effort yet?

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

Staraptor kicks lots of ass in battle since he learns close combat (100 attack power fighting attack that lowers defense and special defense after use), brave bird (flying type double edge), somersault (bug type move that lets you switch out after you use it without any reprecussion), and some other nice moves.

*Returns to hatching skorupi eggs.*

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

I caught a Shinx named Jinkourai this morning, but other than that, nothing of importance happened. I plan to raise her up to the same level as Ami and Wazo - my Piplup and Starly, respectively.

>and if willing to endure many hours of pain now (to avert many hours of sadness later Razz), you should send Starly out to fight only those creatures which'll give him Att or Speed effort.

I've done effort training a few times on my Sapphire version, so I know that it can be quite time-consuming, but I'm willing to sacrifice a few hours to effort train any of my monsters.

I think Serebii.net's Pokedex gives information on effort points, but I don't know if that site has it in a handy, convenient chart or anything of the sort - you have to look up the Pokemon individually.

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

Hatching eggs is too much of a timesink. I've been trynig to find a adamant/impish skorupi with the snipe ability (Crit hax ftw!), but so far I've only been getting gentle and docile battle armored ones.

Exclusively Docile and Gentle? I wonder if they've changed it so that the father's and mother's personalities matter more now for the personality of the child.

Let me be more clear -- I meant, "I wonder if in D/P, they took it one step further from Emerald and made it so that the baby is even more likely to have the parents' personalities."

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

Natures only get passed down 50% of the time if Ditto or the Female holds an Everstone.

The really retarded thing about this is, in DP, this works on everything EXCEPT pokemon that came straight from the gba games. Which really sucks, but isn't too hard to get around.

Another thing you can do is use a pokemon with Synchronize to run around and catch pokemon with the same nature as the synchronize pokemon. This is awesome in Emerlad when Ditto hunting.

Really. (Didn't know that.) REALLY. (Can't believe it.) Wow. That would make getting a Pokemon that has the right personality plus the right base stats so much easier ... because you could just guarantee that every single [strike:e8f68]Vulpix[/strike:e8f68] Pokemon you find has the right personality, and from there you'd only need to worry about the base stats. Wow.

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

oh, i forgot to mention only 50% of the time itll have the same nature. sorry. >>;;

Btw, getting good stats AND nature is ALOT easier when your breeding. Stats get passed down from its parents, 3 to be exact, sof i you happen to get pokemon with 31 in its ivs, you can use them to breed better babies.

Another trick you can use is, save before you get an egg from the guy. After you pick up the egg, hatch it. If it is the correct nature, gender, and trait you want, then check its ivs. If they aren't they way you like it, reset. Natures, Genders, and Traits are set when the egg is with the man, so as long as its the same egg the guy is holding, itll have the same stuff. So you don't have to keep hatching new eggs if your pokemon has crappy nature.

Re: Pokemon diamond and pearl.

Let me make sure I understand what you just said.

When the Pokemon egg is with the man, i.e. he has stepped out to greet me:
- the gender has already been decided
- so has the nature
- so has the trait
x but the stats have not yet been decided

After I pick up the egg:
- the stats are then decided

Is this correct? If so, that does sound pretty good. Basically, you could just do the following:
1 - get the egg
2 - bike until you're a few steps away from it hatching
3 - save the game
4 - let it hatch. You confirm that it has the gender, trait, and nature you wanted. Great.
5 - Turn the DS on and off, on and off, on and off, as many times as it takes until you turn it on and the baby hatches with fantastic stats (e.g. 31 27 28 31 25 27)

If thats true... then Pokemon breeding will be way more tolerable!

*Resumes hatching skorupi eggs for a snipe traited adamant/jolly/impish personalitied one.*
