Kubbi - Ember

Genre: Electronic/Partial Chiptune

This album is so good start to finish that it's criminal. The way the final track calls back to the first track is so good it's moving.

Highly recommend.

Dan Bilzerian has become a big favorite among my friends and I... in no small part because you can easily replace lines with "I want szechuan sauce, I want szechuan sauce".

Reminded this morning of the greatness that is the Gen 5 "Gym Leader's down to his/her final Pokémon" song. Smiling so big right now. This song was so good.

That was really heavy. Hard to digest, but goddamn she is strong. I hope she is genuinely in a better place, and I hope writing this song was therapeutic for her.

NIN just released a sick as fuck new song, extremely outrun, mashing up 80s synthwave with modern industrial rock (and lyrically it seems to be very clearly taking aim at uh, well, a certain current event) but goddamn it is so good.

I've been pretty blah lately but my music taste is still pretty much the same, for some reason as odd as this song is and the implications of it --- it's kind of comforting at the moment. It reminds me of my whole big situation and it's comforting to hear it through my speakers.

I literally don't know who runs the music at the college parties but they pick some of my absolute favourite jams. Two Door Cinema Club is someone I thought I'd never actually hear out in public.

Picked up Aja by Steely Dan earlier today, bringing my collection of Steely Dan records to 5, half of their discography (I also own Can't Buy a Thrill, Pretzel Logic, The Royal Scam, and Gaucho). This particular selection is widely regarded as one of their best, containing such bops as "Aja," "Deacon Blues," and "Peg." Honestly, I just wanted to make this post as pretentious-sounding as possible.

If you listen to my incessant ramblings on the discord, you'd know that The National is my second favourite band and I have absolutely been binge listening to Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers. Avaliable is probably (maybe absolutely) the best song on that album. And judging by a friend's reaction to the song, I think it's going to be the song I show people when I try and get them into The National from now on.

I have been watching a stupid amount of Recess on YouTube. In the episode where Gus's friends shield him from mud on Picture Day, there's a part where Randall plays this bit on harmonica. It's called "Red River Valley", and you can find one of many lyrical covers here. The original authorship is uncertain. It's not even clear whether the song originates from Canada or the United States. Different versions are played in all sorts of keys with all sorts of tempos, so find one you like and enjoy!

Someone playing "Sadness and Sorrow" on the koto. Main melody begins slightly after the 1-minute mark. The original, for comparison. Main melody begins right around the 30-second mark.
