I don’t think Arc or Tess would’ve stopped me from hatching it if they rolled one. There are tonnes of water types so I’m not really surprised it took me so long. And I wasn’t nonstop hatching water eggs either. I occasionally went for other Pokémon and had a lot more luck hatching them (I got my Tangela and Scraggy both in one attempt and my Trubbish on the second attempt). I think it’s fine as long as you don’t shamelessly plug them in zones and the egg house. I actually try and think of Pokémon my updatee would be interested in when planning their adventure. I got my Squirtle as a reward at the end of my Volcanic Mountain adventure after mentioning a few times in the TO I’d like one. I also had an idea for Rotom310's adventure where I wild Rotom would've hijacked the subway he was in. It would've had to have been a huge adventure though for that kind of reward and he only replied like twice :d

I've said once about how I liked rock types in the CG, but that should be somewhat obvious based on my zone choice.

But supposing the Pokemon in question could be obtained. Like Daisy declaring her character has a thing for birds. Or Talon or kaisap declaring that their trainers have a natural affinity for Grass-types. I don't think that's necessarily unwise. Someone even more paranoid than I am might disagree, but I think that's relatively safe. It would severely hamper your ability to flesh out a personality for your character if you couldn't establish for him/her some Pokemon wants. ^_^; But what I don't think you should ever do is this:

"Oh boy! " said Rasmalina. "This is the perfect day to go into Brerwood Forest and run into a Pinsir!"

You do that, you won't be getting a Pinsir that day, "Rasmalina" , and you may not ever be getting a Pinsir now as a result. ^_^;

But afaik there is no magical blacklist in FB of members and the Pokemon they are forbidden from encountering because of violating this rule. And like ME pointed out it's not like individual updators go around compiling blacklists themselves.

*checks out that said not subtle post* Ooooh, I also mentioned in that post how I liked a certain type pokémon, and since I was in a zone with a different type, it would be nice to get a particular Pokémon that shared both my favorite type and the type of Pokémon that was living in the zone. Also, a bit more to my defense, my updator mentioned something along the lines of "you could ask around at this place for help on how to meet a specific Pokémon", so as a FB newbie I felt it was logical that I mention what that "specific Pokémon" was.

But anyhow, I've learned my lesson even before you mentioned it, so I very rarely mention the specific Pokémon I want to catch, even here in the Time Out The farthest I go is mention a general characteristic of what I would like (ex.: type).

On the "quality vs. quantity" debate, I've already spoken my bit before. I lean more towards length but I can understand the appeal of shorter Updates. Everyone has their own style of writing. ^^; Some posts such as "YOU SEE A POGEYMAN. WHAT DO YOU DO?" are just unacceptable though (I've heard things like this did happen in the past). Fortunately we don't see those anymore. XP You guys have been doing well for the most part, we just want to see you keep up the good work. =)

Not to bring up a mostly dead topic, but to be honest, it doesn't take much to write the minimum of four to eight lines and keep the intensity and quality. It's actually very good practice to get into when it comes to writing. Short responses are a pain to deal with whether you are the updater or the person being updated. They also cause bad writing habits in general. That's not to say that you need a wall of text either, because that can almost be worse than too short of a response sometimes, but there is a happy medium that will come to people if they just relax and take their time when writing.

If personally a person feels they need practice writing then there are enough places here for them to do so. The Bar and Free for All Zone are great places. Heck, even Trainer Battles offer the chance to work on writing since a person can do so much more than just issue commands if they put their mind to it. And that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

As for superstitions about naming what pokemon you want... That is going to be different for each individual and rather subjective on top of it. I think there is a fine line to going overboard. In the end it depends on the updaters. If current updaters are anything like I used to be, they would already have a story in mind with particular pokemon involved. If one of those pokemon ended up being something a person wanted and was capturable (Not sure capturable's a real word ) then great! If not, then it wasn't like I was going to change my story because it didn't involve a specific pokemon.
