Technically it aired in July of the previous year, so it's more than several months ago...

Yes, but I was referring to when I watched it. If you saw it on TV, maybe they aired it they way you thought it was shown.

Loki:

Spoiler: show
I'm pretty sure that's how it aired. I watched Season 5 at the time just a few weeks after it aired and it was a direct recording (I'm pretty sure) from when AMC aired it. And when I watched it, nothing like that happened. Walt was eating at a diner, a year later... the waitress made small talk about getting a free breakfast on his birthday... and then he went out to the car and bought a huge gun illegally. So yeah... I think that's how it's always been? You must be mixing the episodes up.

Well that was an episode.

Spoiler: show
Didn't think Hank would confront Walt like that this early. Damn, I'm excited.

"Blood Money" thoughts:

Spoiler: show
Oh man, when Hank closed the garage door I knew shit was going down.

"Tread lightly"

Walt just declared war on Hank. It's the beginning of the end, right here, no question. I have to say, Walt going back a year later just to get the ricin... people think he's going to use it to kill Hank, others think he's going to use it to kill himself after he kills Hank with the gun.

Man. So that's how it is. "I don't give a shit about family". All of those years, down the drain. No wonder Hank had a panic attack. Walt was right in front of him all along and he's not coping with it well at all. When Walt comes between the family and his job, Hank feels his job comes first, not to mention Walt caused all that misery for everyone. Hank is filled with a burning rage now which has completely engulfed any feelings of brotherly love he might have had for him before.

Shit is going down. Only a month and a half until it all ends.

Preview for next week:

BORKED

Finale in 15 minutes. I'm sad it's almost over

EDIT: And it's over. I don't know how I feel.

Yeah, its hard to put into words, but it felt like it just ended. And since Walt was a villain, he couldn't exactly just have a happy ending, but it still felt strange to see it end like it did.

Spoiler: show
I did like that Walt admitted to Skyler he did it because he enjoyed it. It felt like Walt was happiest while cooking despite all the other complications of crime. He enjoyed becoming a drug kingpin and enjoyed defeating other crime lords and avoid the authorities. It almost felt like that should have had been the ending instead, like if they used that scene as a flashback while he was dying after he dealt with Jesse, Tod, Jack, and the neo-Nazis. That would have been nice.

So I guess this is a bad time to mention that the first two-three episodes of Breaking Bad failed to keep my interest and I thus have not watched any past that, eh?

When does the show get good?

It gets progressively better. For me, it really kicked off mid 2nd season.

My friend just told me the other day he couldn't get into BrBa for the first six-seven episodes. He actually LOATHED it. Once he got past that mark, however, he pretty much couldn't stop watching it.

Only two years late but BB's just started airing on Freeview over here so thought I'd give it a go. Really liking it so far, but then I love Bryan Cranston so.

Did anybody watch season 1 of Better Call Saul? In case you didn't hear about it, it's a prequel that follows Saul's life before he got involved with Walt. Clearly not as good as Breaking Bad, but still very enjoyable. Saul is such a likeable guy that it makes up for the story's comparative weakness compared to BB.

Favourite moment so far:

Spoiler: show
When Saul spends all night in the disgusting garbage bin digging for the shredded documents ... then climbs out and finds the nice clean recycling bin right beside the dumpster.

I'm not up to a big post right now, but I will say that I am actually excited that season 2 starts in 3 days. Maybe it's because I like Saul's character, and it's been almost a year now since my last fix with his back-story. However, I'm not going to lie when I say that I just don't enjoy it.... It's sort of like the Star Wars prequels in my opinion, everyone loves the original story (Breaking Bad), but the follow-up disappoints! I had high hopes for this series, and episode one was a DECENT start. The issue is that it mostly fell down hill very fast afterward.

Maybe part of me is subtly hoping for a better second season and expecting that AMC learned from it's mistakes. Maybe. We (if I'm not the only remaining person watching as of this season) will have to wait and see.

I recently saw Better Call Saul on Netflix. I was pleasantly surprised an almost forgot that Jimmy was Saul.

Spoiler: show
From fairly early on I knew something had to happen to Jimmy and Chuck for him to turn away from being a noble lawyer to the criminal Saul, but I did not expect that. The betrayal from Chuck was just so massively painful to realize. Jimmy toiled away and threw away so much to help Chuck while also trying to be his own lawyer and try to win over his brother's approval and ultimately it was futile and pointless. It makes perfect sense for Jimmy to then become Saul.

Watch Breaking Bad. Then watch it Better Call Saul. Great stuff.

Yeah, I decided to sit down and finally watch Better Call Saul when I saw it on Netflix as well.

Your thoughts basically echo my own. I will add that I think BCS kept the same cleverness BrBa had, but it's an entirely different kind of show. It's more intellectual and deliberate in its storytelling, which also means it's slower paced and less action-packed compared to its predecessor. Which is fine. I just don't think it's for every BrBa fan.

We'll see how it plays out. I believe back before it first aired the producers were saying it would cover both Saul's past and his present, which I am hopeful for... I'd like to see what becomes of Jimmy post-BrBa... aside from
