There's lots of intense shots of characters standing on their TIPPY TOES.

Not much has been going on in my neck of the woods. DS has been taking most of my anime time. I have decided to start on a manga though.
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou A somewhat mainstream monster girl manga? It's worth a look, despite the mainstream part possibly turning it into garbage. I read chapter one, and it just looks like TLR with monster girls. It's not infuriating, but I'm not sure how long I can bear another freaking TLR. I will endure as long as possible though, since this is one of the few monster girl things out there, and maybe it'll lead into it becoming more common. |

According to Mangafox the Kagerou Days manga has been licenced (though I can't find any announcement). Huh, cool. Guess I'll have to start stalking tumblr more often for translations. *shot* Stumbled across Chapter 21 today on someone's blog.
Spoiler: show

We finished watching episode...was it 16? But the first episode of the second half of the show, story-wise. I've yet to see the masterpiece there? It's not a bad anime by any means. Might be a bit soon for me to make judgements on it though, since I haven't finished it yet and there could be something surprising in the plot I've yet to see.

They're not on their tippy toes: there's a block of wood at the end of the ballet shoe. Ballet dancers stand pretty much on their toes, and it's straining as all hell to the feet, but no tippy toes. Also: I enjoy the mimes of ballet the anime takes advantage of. More and more languages for me to learn!

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou
I read the first 20 chapters of this. I'm actually enjoying this quite a bit. I mean it is a braindead harem, but it's still a fun read. I guess the fact that no-one is human makes the usually cliche harem scenarios more bearable. The characters are fun though. Just reading them mess around with each other is entertaining as hell. I just hope the artist slows down on introducing characters. I get that there's more species to introduce, but there's already a fairly large cast. |

I could have sworn we had a thread devoted to discussion of animes you would like to see reanimated (ŕ la Kanon, FSN, and FMA). If we don't have such a thread already, I'll probably make one, but I figured I'd ask first in case one of you knows where it is and I'm just blind.
While I would think that past conversations on this topic are probably somewhere inside this thread, even when I search for particular clue words by post, the hits I get going back to 2010 are less than twenty and none are right. If no one indicates we have that thread already by the time I get back tonight, and if no one goes ahead and makes a thread first (by all means, please do if you like! I just didn't want to make one before confirming we don't already have a pre-existing one), I'll probably make it later tonight.

Not sure where to post this but...
This is a really beautiful commercial that should be turned into an Anime. I'm not one for Rom-com-y animes but I'd watch this. |

Pokemon XY
Watched episode 17. Spoiler: show Not much else to update on. I read the last few translated chapters of Monster Musume, but it was only two chapters, so going on about it again for two chapters is kinda silly. I did forget to mention though that one thing that sets this apart from other harems and makes it a bit more endearing is the fact that the girls are abnormal and maybe grotesque to some instead of all of them being 100% hot. I would like to post in the Noragami thread, but I just can't think of anything to say about it. It's entertaining, but I'm still trying to figure it out. Also the show tries to use cheap dramatic effects pretty often, which really put me off. |

EDIT: The composer I spoke to for my VN gave me a ballpark figure for the novel, and ultimately it looks like if I go full-on professional for everything, I can fund everything with a year's salary. I found this really interesting, because he suggested a Kickstarter, and in looking up crowdfunding through VNs I found an effort to remake Green Green. Bamboo's asking price - $250,000 - sounds insane to me. My own original work, which will likely run better than the remake, will cost less than a fifth of that with all the startup costs included. Trigger was asking for $500,000 to develop a sequel to Little Witch Academia, a fully animated OVA. I can't wrap my head around the idea of a game - let alone a VN - costing the same price as a house. In fact, that was my fear before looking up the prices for what professional work would cost.

KANOOOOOO
(Subs in Thai since it's the only good clip available right now.) I actually thought it was Hiroshi Kamiya at first. They got a good sound-alike. Doesn't seem like he's done many main roles before. Also, I found an interesting observation someone made about the order of the PV releases that supports an earlier theory that I had. Based on this, next week's should be Mekakushi-dan member #7's.

But yeah, I'm sure he'll be back. They spent way too much time setting up his backstory and establishing his hometown and brothers for that to not turn up again later. We didn't, however its evolved form was used as one of Aqua's signature Pokemon, and was never portrayed in a non-villainous light in a single episode (and it looks pretty mean and brutal too), so no one really expected it to evolve. It was a very popular Pokemon that would've lost a lot of its charm upon evolution. (also, Double Team in this episode was portrayed the same way as in XY9, so it seems to just be the XY way of animating it) |

And one of the things I felt Unova did right was the recurring human characters. This was something that we hadn't really had for Ash in a long time. Not like this, anyway. The idea of recurring human characters was mostly sucked up by the contest circuit, so it was mostly May's and Dawn's rivals that took up these slots, leaving Ash with only Paul and (to a much lesser extent) Barry in DPPt and I'm not even sure who he had in Hoenn, having not watched much of it. But in Unova? We had Kenyan, Bel, Luke, and Kotetsu for Ash, we had Cabernet for Dent, and we had Langley for Iris. It was nice. And it was something I was worried we might miss out on in Kalos. So I'm glad to see that Sanpei's been introduced as early and as strongly as he has been. I can only hope that more characters will be introduced in due time for Ash to run into on occasion.

I thought this was going to be Usagi Drop: redux. Older guy and an adorable little girl he's taking care of. In this case, it's an older, biker-gang looking brother and a younger, elementary-school sister. What could go wrong? Well, everything. -the brother is in love with the sister; genuine incest attraction -they touch all over -the sister is actually in high school but acts like she's in elementary -brother's friends want to molest her -all the male characters are misogynist -the females are portrayed as cougars -one unrealistically aggressive one is almost choked to death by the guy -the males refer to the females as "pigs" My goodness, I've rarely seen a series so deceptive!

Haven't seen Midgeorge in a while. :\ Anyone know what's up? I may ask around the ASB if no one here knows. Hope he's okay. Maybe he's just taking a break from Pokémon / UPN / the Internet. Maybe he's busy with school, work, and/or a girlfriend.
EDIT: His profile says he was last on today, but I honestly haven't seen his name in the Users Online area for what feels like weeks. Well, so long as he's doing okay, that's all that matters.

Actually now that Suigin mentions it, I read some reviews of Best Wishes a while back, and most of the people hate it. The thing is, they all start their review with the same line: "I have been watching Pokemon since the original Kanto series". I assumed they all hated it because Best Wishes changed a bunch of stuff compared to the previous shows, like take off Takeshi. I know it changes Team Rocket, but does it change alot more? That's the only reason I can think of for so many people to dislike Best Wishes, since it's actually a really solid and enjoyable series.
The season is half over, so I guess an update for the shows I'm watching that don't have a thread is in order. Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha Dropped. This show can be really heartwarming and cute, but that's the only good thing about the show. The drama is so cheesy, and the show is so dull, that I just couldn't take it any more. Hozuki no Reitetsu Surprisingly, I have kept up with this show. It's not great, but I like the characters and atmosphere. Though I doubt this show will go over a 6 with me. Though I really like this week's ending. Mikakunin de Shinkoukei This was one of my favorite shows starting out, but there's so many dull spots. Also the older sister is obnoxious. The main relationship is pretty heartwarming though. If only this show would focus more on that rather than the older sister fondling the loli and her younger sister all the time. I still enjoy this show though. Sekai Seifuku Bouryaku no Zvezda That one awful episode aside, this show has been pretty fun. It's still really dumb and nonsensical, but I don't think this show cares about making any sense. Also I fucking love the main girl's voice. My god it's such a cute and fun voice. She's supposedly a new VA too. The loli in Mikakunin has a good voice too, and that's her only listed role in MAL. Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta This had potential, but sadly none of that potential was met. The revelations have been so god damn sloppy. Also this show has the annoying "screaming when upset" effect I dislike so much. I'm still interested in the plot, but I don't like how its told. Wizard Barristers - Benmashi Cecil This show is okay. Nothing more. I can't think of any real complaints like I have with the previous shows, but it's also not that interesting to me. Maybe something will change? |

A week ago I was in India with no internet connection, so its been weird getting back into the swing of using anything except for youtube and facebook. But yeah I'm really busy with college work, driving theory, my job and applications for university so I haven't really found the time to be too active. Managed to get conditionals for all of my university choices so thats looking up! Also trying to find more time to focus on making tunes to send to record labels and get better at sound design. As for anime, my recent obsession with Dexter has sort of taken over that part of me, and the only thing I'm bothering to watch at the moment is Nagi no Asukara because the other shows I was watching were pretty mediocre. If anyone knows anything I might like thats come out recently give me a shout. |

It seems we have a chart for next season's anime. Like usual, not much has my interest, but things that have caught my eye:
Keroro - Are they remaking this? Uhh....okay. Sure, remake a 500+ (I don't know the exact number) episode anime into 13 episodes or whatever they plan on doing. I'll give it a look. Sunrise must have nothing else to do. Ryuugajou blah blah blah - The girl in the picture looks nice? The plot seems okay, and not much else in the list catches my eye, so sure, why not? Fairy Tail - They're ramaking this pile of garbage? What? I'm not watching this, but I wanted to voice my displeasure. Mahou Shoujo Taisen - What a misleading and horribly disappointing name. When I think "Mahou Shoujo Taisen", I think the ever-awaited super robot wars with magical girls. I'll watch this to see if it lives up to the name it possibly desecrated. Lady Jewelpet - I probably won't watch, considering I dropped last year's Jewelpet, but it'll be there in my "I might watch" zone. Puchim@s - Puchimaaaaassu! Atelier Escha and Logy - Uhhhh......why? Isn't Ayesha the first in this story's timeline? Also isn't the Arland series more popular? Why are they doing this? I probably won't watch, since this is about to release in the states in video game form, and I would rather play it than watch a possibly watered down anime. They should animate Atelier Totori instead. And that's it. Mostly things I'm just complaining about them animating in the first place rather than things I'm interested in. Of course I'll pick up more and shows I haven't even listed will catch my interest, but yeah. |

Thoughts on the Spring 2014 offerings. (List is not indicative of what I want to watch.)
Fairy Tail: I don't think this is a remake, despite the label of "NEW SERIES". I think they're using the word "series" the way the English do, i.e. it's a new season, not a whole new project or a reboot. Apparently the first television series aired from October 2009 to March 2013 and then went on a hiatus that saw sprinkles of a few OAVs (the most recent being from August 2013). So it sounds like this is a case of revving the engine back up for a project that was put to sleep temporarily, ŕ la Gintama, presumably because they were catching up to the manga and they wanted to give the manga some more breathing room. Keroro Gunsou: According to Wikipedia, this is to be a "flash series." Not sure if they mean Macromedia Flash ŕ la My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic or what. Also not sure whether it's going to be a reboot, a continuation, or something more along the lines of Puchimas. I think the original series was fine (though ridiculously long; never did finish it :\) and doesn't need a reboot. But if this does turn out to be a reboot, I hope that the animation looks nice and stays faithful to the manga. I'd welcome a reboot if for no other reason than that it should prove an easy sell to newcomers: 358 episodes is enough to scare off most people, especially when you tell them the honest truth that, after the first season and a half or so, it's pretty much a run-of-the-mill serialized kids show like the ones we used to watch as kids on Saturday morning TV. But that still doesn't explain why Sunrise would sink money into a reboot. What's the problem with just re-airing old episodes of Keroro Gunsou on Japanese television? The original animation was fine and if you're reprising all of the surviving voice actors then a) you're not really offering anything new on that front, for better or worse, and b) you're kind of dishonoring the memory of Kawakami Tomoko. :\ Gokukoku no Brynhildr: This isn't the first time I've read this plot summary. I believe someone brought this one up several months ago here? Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou: An inn anime that seems to combine Sakurasou with the desire to force a Japanese pun. (kawaisou means "pitiful," but the sou suffix written a different way means an inn. So they went for the name Kawai Inn, alias Kawaisou, because hahaha it's a pun. ^^; ) Not sure if I'm up for another inn anime, but then again I did like Sakurasou and Love Hina so who knows. I'll just have to hope it's good. Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii: Sounds like it could be a good romance. A very obvious one -- even the barebones plot summary doesn't attempt to hide it -- but still possibly a good one. Mushishi S2: I haven't seen the original series but I imagine that this will be huge news for those who have since generally speaking they seem to have enjoyed the first one. Isshuukan Friends: Sounds terribly depressing, but should be right up the alley of anyone who enjoyed the amnesia plot arc in ef: a tale of memories. JJBA: Stardust Crusaders: Of course this is a must-see given the investment in the first two story arcs. I don't think I'll be watching any of these Spring 2014 series any time soon though. Busy with things IRL. Still haven't finished Fall 2013 series. Still haven't started Winter 2014 series. JoJo and Puchimas are probably the only two I can see myself allowing to cut in line; the others are all going to have to wait.

Four card game animes: There's just no end to Yu-Gi-Oh, is there? Speaking of animes that never seem to die... Dragon Ball Kai: Right. NEXT! Akuma no Riddle: I'm getting Another vibes from this one. Will have a looksie. Black Bullet: If that redhead female is a tsundere, I will punch something. All these childhood friends are already driving me insane, and not in a good way. Otherwise the plot seems intriguing, let's hope they won't blow it. Magic School Anime with Incest: They just couldn't translate that title, could they? I'll give this one episode and see how this goes. WIXOSS: Card game? Death game? Memory game? WHY CAN'T WE HAVE SOME DESCRIPTIONS THAT ACTUALLY SAY WHAT THE SHOW IS ABOUT?! Love Live! 2: Will watch, just hope they don't do a forced drama bit at the end like they did last time. But the World is Still Beautiful: One episode. What's with all the romance animes this season? Bones Light Novel Show about Ex-Mercenary with Loli: Well, I gave Sunday without God a chance, guess I'll give this show one too. Gokukoku no Brynhildr: Liked Elfen Lied, so I'll give this a fair chance. No Game, No Life: Light novel where NEETs/gamers save humanity without their gamer powerz. Now where have I heard this before? About a thousand times? The 50 First Friendships I mean One Week Friends: Yeah, no, unless someone here convinces me to I won't watch this. Sengoku Era with Robots: IS THIS ANOTHER THING THAT'S BEEN ON THE RISE A LOT LATELY?! CAUSE I THINK IT IS! Two One-Girl-Dozen-Guys Animes: Yeah, not going to bother. Uta no Prince-sama 3000% is coming out later this year, I already have that to look forward to. Five Girls One Club - Tea Edition: Don't care. NEXT! Mekaku City Actors: FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD! Will watch. :3 WE LIKE SPORTS AND WE DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS! (VOLLEY-VOLLEY-BALL, TENNIS, PING PONG, SUMO): Volleyball and tennis get one episode each for now, just in case they'll be fun. Ping pong and sumo though...I'll pass. Somehow this new season seems...boring. Loli-girls, incest-wincest, romanceromanceromance and then some light novel adaptions. Most likely I'll just watch an episode of most of these and then get hooked on a couple shows, like this process has worked for the past few years. Really getting tired of little sisters and childhood friends, though! Last edited by kaisap112; 03-04-2014 at 04:22 PM. |
