"Oh," Ashaya responds as she takes the Poké Ball, "Thanks, I guess."

"A monk, huh?" Bethany chimes in, "So I guess that means we're going to the Tin Tower?"

"Yeah, it's the same guy I told you about last night. We're apparently transporting some building supplies for him."

"Hm, okay," she replies flatly, not showing much interest.

"Like I said, 30 minutes. Now shoo so we can get ready."

Ashaya shoos you out of the room, pushing Porygon out as well. You have no choice but to wait around for a little while, sitting with Porygon in the lounge area. The strange Pokémon sits quietly, practically motionless as you wait, save for some light midair bobbing. Ashaya appears again after only about 5 minutes, heading to the counter. She speaks briefly with the nurse, who brings out Pikachu. The little rodent is looking patched up, yawning as she's plopped down on the counter. She looks rather happy to see Ashaya, who offers her the Poké Ball. The rodent looks at it curiously for a moment before perking up and pressing the mechanism. Its form is quickly swept into the ball. It rocks in her hand before clicking shut.

Congratulations! Ashaya has caught a level 6 Gentle Female Pikachu!

Ashaya walks over to you, beaming as she stares at the ball in her hand.

"Thanks..." she says. Just then, Bethany appears from the hall, face made up in a rather garish fashion. Ashaya quickly sheds her sentimental façade, immediately poking fun at the girl.

"Come on, Beth, you don't have to look like a Zigzagoon everyday," she chides.

"Oh can it, Ashaya. You just wish you were as pretty as I was," Bethany retorts, her sharp tongue returning to her after some rest.

"Alright, bitches, let's get going to see Mr. Monk," Ashaya suggests, though it feels like more of a command as she walks off. You and Bethany (and Porygon, who tags along without any prompting) are forced to follow.

Once again, you walk the straight path down to the gates, the sun glistening on the golden leaves. Once again, you find Brother Suzuki stationed out front, smiling widely.

"Oh, I see you're back! I'm glad you could make it! And I see you brought a few new friends," he smiles towards Bethany and the Porygon, "Come in, the supplies you'll be helping transport should be ready," Brother Suzuki shows you inside the gates once again, directing you to a bundle of wood and a handful of tools bound tightly with rope. Two small humanshape Pokémon sit with it, appearing to be meditating.

"These Meditite here will carry it for you. This is Nikko," he motions to the one with higher ear swirls, the male, "and this is Tara," he motions to the one with lower ears, the female, "They usually can manage on their own, but with the rise of poaching and theft lately, we were hoping for some escorts."

Ashaya looks away, whistling and Bethany looks away at the floor.

"We would greatly appreciate it if you could get these supplies to the Sprout Tower. They should be able to take it from there, but we just need to make sure they get there safe. There's no real hurry - they're not expecting the supplies for a while, so if you get there within the next few days, it'll be a nice surprise."

Kael can only roll his eyes as he's shoved out of the room, heading to the lobby and waiting for a bit. Ashaya shows up after a short while and approaches the counter to pick up the Pikachu, offering the Pokeball to it to which it happily obliges, touching the mechanism and allowing itself to be captured. Sure enough, Bethany eventually makes her way out, causing Ashaya to poke fun at her makeup, eliciting a snappy remark from Bethany and a look of 'play nice' from Kael before everyone begins to head out to the Tin Tower.

Meeting Brother Suzuki, he seems surprised to see the new companions Kael has brought along, but quickly moves on from the subject, ushering the group inside and pointing out the supplies as well as a couple of Meditite by the names of Nikko and Tara. Mentioning the rise of poaching and theft in the area and causing Ashaya and Bethany to respond as a result, he explains why he needed them escorted, as well as the fact that they're not expected within Violet for a few days.

"Oh, excellent," Kael remarks, "We really need to be stopping at the Park anyway, it seems we might have lost something in the area." He's careful not to mention exactly as to what was lost so as not to arouse suspicion. "But either way, we should get moving right away." Waving to the Meditite to follow, he begins to make his way out the door before realizing that he now had two more things to keep his eyes on, and with Ashaya, Bethany, and the Porygon, he might be a little bit strained.

Coming to a quick halt outside the doors, he turns to the group to look them over. While Ashaya and Bethany might have gained some of his trust, they were still very much a flight risk, and the two Meditite needed watched at all times. On top of that, the Porygon was a very valuable Pokemon and anyone seeing it might try something. Groaning for a moment in thought, he pulled into his pocket once more for a moment, turning to talk to the Porygon. "Hey there bud. I want to make sure nobody tries to hurt you, and it's gonna be awful hard to watch you and everyone else at the same time." Producing another Pokeball and holding it up to the virtual duck he continues, "So, how about it, feel like coming along with me for the long haul?"

"Fantastic," the monk smiles in response as you wave to the Meditite, who put the heavy supplies and materials atop their pointed heads, using a bit of muscle and telekinetic powers in combination to balance their load, "Violet is not terribly far from here, so it probably won't take you too long at all to get them there. Thank you quite a lot, kind folks," With that, he ushers you, Ashaya, Bethany, the Meditite and Porygon out of the gatehouse, finding yourself once again back on the street.

With all your responsibilities beginning to pile up, you figure it's probably a better idea to add the digital Pokémon to your team and keep it in a Poké Ball to keep attention off you and reduce the number of bodies you have to keep an eye on. Porygon, at the presentation of a Poké Ball, seems rather enthusiastic, you having now fed it rather generously twice now and saved it from a malicious man. However, that cheerfulness suddenly turns into a bit of an intensity, as it turns its attention from the ball back to you.

"Oh, hey there," Ashaya comments, looking towards the Porygon, "It looks like this little guy would like a battle. It must have been impressed with what it saw before and wants a crack at you as well."

"I can't imagine it saw anything," Bethany adds, "It was so glitched out when that guy arrived, I doubt it even saw anything."

Ashaya rolls her eyes, "Well okay, maybe. I was trying to give him a compliment, Bethany."

Kael can only smirk as the Porygon's look of enthusiasm turns to one of intensity, and his suspicions are confirmed by Ashaya pointing out the electric soldier probably wants a battle. Nodding, Kael reaches for one of the Pokeballs on his belt, tossing it up to reveal Faolan, the Poochyena loosing a small bark as it lands on the ground, eyeing the Porygon. "Alright boy, let's show it what you've got." Kael leaned down, scratching the pooch on the head and eliciting a happy yelp from Faolan before the Poochyena took more of battle stance, his maw twisting into a bit of a snarl. "Alright, start off with a Howl and go in for a Tackle."

Sending your newest Pokémon into the ring, the pooch barks as he confirms his understanding of the orders given. Porygon also prepares itself, its eyes taking on a fierce, almost angry expression. However, by its evasive movements, it looks a little more excited than angry. As the battle begins and it faces Faolin, you notice that it perks up a little as it assesses its foe. It seems to be Downloading information on its foe to focus its offenses optimally. It seems rather pleased as it does, ready to fight.

Faolin, however, initiates the battle, starting off with a show of confidence. Digging his claws into the stone, he releases a throaty Howl, pumping himself up and startling the computer program a bit. While it's a bit of a surprise, it does not deter Porygon at all, which fires off a Psybeam as its first attack, trying to take advantage of the pup's relative lower defenses (according to its information, at least). However, Faolin doesn't even budge or notice as the colorful attack strikes it. It's strange Dark attributes seem to protect it from the attack entirely. Porygon seems rather surprised that its tactic failed entirely, and takes a moment to calculate its next best option. Faolin, seeing an opening, uses his recently gained confidence to fuel a Tackle, running and leaping to smash right into Porygon, shaking it from its stupor. The virtual Pokémon is pushed back somewhat, but manages to catch itself and halt its momentum entirely, stopping nearly instantly. Still calculating its best option, it opts to bide its time for now. You notice as its edges appear to Sharpen, angles and intersections of planes coming to a point.

Watching as the Porygon begins to instantly analyze Faolan, Kael becomes slightly worried about the oncoming match, but as the pup psychs himself up and proceeds to shrug off the attack of the Porygon harmlessly, his doubts turn to a smug grin. If it wasn't for the fact that he knew little of the cyber duck's capabilities he might even try to bluff and say he had planned it. Scoring a good hit, his luck seems to improve, only for the Porygon to suddenly become more angular for some reason.

"Okay boy," he shouts to the pup, "we don't want it putting whatever it just did to good use, so give it a Sand Attack to start and follow up with another Tackle!"

Faolin barks as a show of understanding, turning to face the much sharper Porygon, who looks ready to retaliate itself. Suddenly, the digital Pokémon advances, ready to take advantage of its new angles and points to deal some extra damage. However, in the midst of its Tackle, Faolin acts to distract it. Kicking up some Sand from between the cracks in the stone, he Attacks the Pokémon's eyes. While it's not strictly possible to irritate the Porygon's eyes, the grit is enough to throw off its accuracy by interfering with its sensors, causing it to veer off course just enough to only bump into Faolin. The only real damage is from a scratch, but Faolin doesn't seem terribly put off by the relatively minor cut. Porygon takes a moment once it figures out that it hasn't quite hit its target, trying to clear its eyes of the sand. This gives Faolin an opportunity to rush in for a Tackle. The little pup collides with the Porygon's side, sending it bouncing across the pavement before it reorients itself once again, looking a little confused. Its eyes seem to be a little clearer this time, but it doesn't seem to be entirely sure of what just happened. Either way, it manages to gather itself after the hit, turning to face Faolin. Once again, it charges forward with a Tackle, and with nothing to obstruct its vision this time, makes a dead-on hit. Faolin tumbles across the pavement, but gets on his feet again without an issue.

With the Porygon having grown sharper, it becomes apparent based on the glancing and then full blow struck to Faolan as to just what this entails. Kael decided not to let it put its boost to work any more than it already had, shouting to Faolan another set of orders. "Alright boy, Tackle one more time and then give it a Fire Fang to try to finish this!"

Faolin once again shows his understanding with a bark, ready to battle, while Porygon is looking to be a little worn out at this point. However, it refuses to back down, watching intently as the pooch advances. Once again, he dashes forward for a Tackle. Porygon reacts, lunging itself, ready to respond with a Tackle of its own. The two Pokémon clash, bouncing back as their forces meet. Faolin manages to land on his feet, but Porygon totters a bit in midair as it stabilizes itself again. It's not out of the fight yet, however, but it doesn't seem eager to attack again. Instead, it attempts something rather strange that you don't recognize immediately. It appears to be undergoing some type of Conversion, though you can't tell exactly what it entails. Its textures suddenly gain a metallic sheen of some sort, glowing in the mid morning light. Faolin seems to be completely unfazed by this, hardly even noticing. He simply lights up his Fangs with Fire, lunging in to attack. However, Porygon doesn't move, barely reacting at all, hoping perhaps that his technique will provide it some extra defense against any oncoming attacks. However, this plan has failed miserably, as Faolin chomps down with flaming maw. Porygon begins to react quite negatively, its eyes going staticky and beeping loudly as the attack strikes a newly adopted weak point. Faolin is startled and lets go, but it seems too late for Porygon, who floats to the ground and its eyes go blank.

"I... guess you can catch it now," Ashaya proposes.

"Excellent job, boy!" Kael shouts, rubbing the Poochyena on the head to congratulate the pup. "I mean... I'm not sure what happened, but hey, whatever works..." Approaching the Porygon, he produces the Pokeball he had previously offered as well as his Pokedex, before tapping the capture mechanism on the cyber duck, ready to scan it over with the Pokedex to figure out the odd bag of tricks the Porygon seems to know. "I guess we'll just have to find out exactly what you can do. You certainly are an odd one..."

With Porygon now most likely fainted, you hold out a Poké Ball to the duck-like creature's beak, tapping it on the tip. The mechanism engages, the ball popping open and pulling the creature into it with a flash of light. The ball wriggles in your hand for a moment, glowing warmly. It shakes again, a little more weakly. Once more, it nudges just a little before clicking shut, indicating a successful capture.

Congratulations! You caught a level 7 Careful Porygon!

Faolin looks at you happily after the successful capture, somehow appearing a bit stronger as well.

Faolin leveled up!

With your Pokémon newly captured, you check your Pokédex for some information on the moves it's capable of. You recognize two of its techniques off the bat, Tackle and Psybeam, both of which you saw it use before. You also notice that it's capable of using Sharpen, which seems to match up with what you saw earlier when it modified its angles. The last two, however, are unfamiliar - Conversion and a separate entry for Conversion 2. It's not immediately clear what they do or what the difference is between them, but they seem to be two separate commands nonetheless. You're also initially unsure of which you witnessed just a few moments earlier.

"Well, that was fun," Ashaya comments, "Do you want to get them healed up before we head to Violet?" she asks.

"Oh, Ashaya, are you going to name that Pikachu?" Bethany pipes up.

"You know, I haven't really thought about it... Any suggestions?"

Bethany shakes her head no.

With the Porygon now safely tucked away in his possession and one less distraction out of the way, Kael's mind temporarily wanders to thinking up names for the cyber duck. A few cross his mind but he eventually settles on Niamh, when suddenly Ashaya speaks up and he snaps back to reality.

"Yeah we should probably heal up. I'll do a quick check for any packages while we're at it and then we can head out of town and look for that Florges before stopping over at Violet." Kael posits as he recalls Faolan and places both balls on his belt. Bethany puts forward the idea that Ashaya should name the Pikachu she had caught, to which Ashaya mentions she hadn't previously thought about it and proceeds to ask for suggestions. With Bethany shaking her head no for a moment, Kael puts forward one that had crossed his mind when naming the Porygon. "How about... Katya?" He mentions the suggestion as he waves along to the Meditite to signal that they should get moving towards the Center while Ashaya thinks it over.

"Katya, huh?" Ashaya takes your suggestion into consideration, looking pensive for a moment while she thinks on it, "well, I suppose that wouldn't be so bad."

"It's kind of exotic," Bethany chimes in, "kinda reminds me of that Froslass that you had. Have?"

"Had, really," she replies, shooting you a look, "yeah, it is a lot like Tatiana. But this time, I actually caught the thing for real."

"The thing? C'mon, that's no way to talk about your first actual Pokémon,"

"Oh, you know what I mean," she sneers, "Oh but, yeah, the Florges, can you remember what exactly was happening when you dropped it."

"I already told you that I dropped it when running here," she repeats.

"Well, yeah, but like, more specifically, like landmarks or something," Ashaya specifies.

"Landmarks?" Bethany echoes, thinking on it, "Not...really. But, hm... there was some sort of gatehouse near there, and I think I also remember it being somewhere near this kind of divide? I don't really know how to describe it properly. I guess it was kind of like a fork in the paths. Though at the time, it was pretty dark still so I wasn't totally sure where I was. I just picked the path I thought would get me to Ecruteak and blindly ran up it. I remember falling down sometime around then..."

"That's got to be the split towards Violet. That'll be exactly on our way, so we probably won't have to go too far to at least search for it,"

"Yeah, it probably was Violet. I remember the path getting a little dustier, which tends to be the sign you've reached Violet."

"Alright then, that narrows it down," she concludes, "Let's get Porygon fixed and your packages and head that way while we still have good light,"

Shrugging off the look Ashaya shoots him at the mention of the Froslass whose Pokeball he was still holding on to for the time being, Kael listens quietly as the girls go back and forth attempting to figure out just where the Florges ended up, coming to the conclusion that it was near the split path between Goldenrod, Ecruteak, and Violet. Occasionally looking behind himself to make sure the Meditite were keeping up, the group moved along at a fairly brisk pace in order to try and conserve daylight. Upon reaching the Center, Kael opened the door and waved everyone in with a snarky "After you." before heading up to the counter and asking the nurse to take care of his Porygon, and Poochyena while he was at it. Fiddling with the nearby computer as he waited, he procured the packages waiting for him... well, a single package, a TM from a company called Jeri Co. Scanning the TM reveals it to be Earthquake, causing Kael to blink for a moment before reaching for Dianiv's ball. Tossing the ball out to reveal the Aron, he quickly uses the TM Case to scan the move over the Aron, still not entirely sure how it actually works, before pocketing it and recalling Dianiv. "We'll test that out in a less popular area..." His business finished, he made his way back to the counter to reclaim his Pokemon and get the group moving on their way.

Deciding it to be in your best interest to get moving before the sun decides to set for the day, you usher the ladies out of the Pokémon Center, back into the cobblestone street and south, back out of the city of Ecruteak. You lead the pair through the route you traversed the morning before, watching as the golden leaved trees fade to the familiar green as you enter back into the path. From the city entrance, you can see the split area that you discussed earlier not too far off, and, checking to make sure the Meditite were still in tow, your group heads in that direction. Ashaya and Bethany chat a little in transit.

"So how's it feel to be a real trainer?" Bethany quips.

"It's okay," Ashaya shrugs, "I guess there's something satisfying about capturing your own Pokémon over stealing one from someone else."

"But stealing is just so fun. And training seems hard."

"Eh, I'm a little over it. Being a criminal is stressful!"

"I guess that much is true," Bethany admits, "Well, I suppose it's a new chapter for Ashaya, huh? Maybe I'll go on the straight and narrow myself."

"I'd like to see that," Ashaya chuckles.

By the time their short conversation ends, you already find yourself more or less there. Bethany begins to glance around to see if she can spot it.

"So okay, do you think it's somewhere here?" Ashaya asks.

"Yeah, I fell into some bushes over that way," she points at the path that heads in the direction of
Goldenrod and National Park, There's a noticeable gap between two bushes where it looks like the branches have been broken haphazardly.

"Alright, come on, Bethany, let's fish around a little bit," she proposes, the two of them moving over to the shrubs.

For a few minutes, the two of them fish around among the leaves, on hands and knees, searching for the Poké Ball. Sensing that they're going to be here a while, the Meditite slough their load, sitting atop the pile like a bench as they watch the girls at work. There's quite a bit of waiting as they shuffle around in the underbrush, but you hear one of them gasp as they find something Poké Ball shaped.

"I think this is it..." the voice, who you believe to be Ashaya, calls out, but not before gasping and groaning, "Hey come back, you little bastard!"

You suddenly see a streak of purple bouncing through the trees, which your eyes trace back to the path. The Pokémon lands on the ground, a monkey-like creature with a long tail adorned with a hand, which grips the Poké Ball Ashaya found.

"Dammit!" Ashaya swears as she and Bethany emerge from the bushes.

A boy, not much older than about 13, dressed in shorts, a baseball cap and a brightly colored t-shirt, emerges from the bushes as well.

"Good job, Bouncy," he says, petting the Pokémon's head and taking the Poké Ball from him.

"Hey, that's ours!" Bethany shouts.

"You want it? Fight me for it," the boy demands, his Pokémon taking an aggressive pose.

Kael can only snicker somewhat as he watches the girls dig through the bush to find the lost Pokeball. 'If she wasn't such a clutz she could have been halfway to Kanto by now...' the thought crossed his mind as to the state of the two now fugitives he was traveling with. His mind didn't get to stay on the topic for too extended a period of time, though, as a shout of joy announced that the ball was found, only for one of anger to follow as a purple blur shot from the bush. The primate quickly landed by a young boy dressed in frankly hilarious attire, even by the standards of one dressed in such a way as Kael was.

Bethany quickly gets in a short argument with the boy, which only leads to him demanding a fight in order to get the ball back, the Pokemon that retrieved it for him taking a battle stance. Kael rolled his eyes as he reached for one of the balls on his belt, looking back to make sure the Meditite were still sitting on their wood instead of carrying it, he didn't want to accidentally make them drop it.

"Look kid." He started, "That ball belongs to the Ecruteak Gym Leader, alright?" Pulling out his PokeGear, he continued, "I have the Gym's number right here. Just a touch away. Do you really think it's a good idea to just take that?" Gesturing at the girls, he steps a bit closer towards the boy. "So you can either hand it over, or you can have a bad time. It's three on one." His hand clicked the mechanism on the Pokeball he was holding causing Dianiv to appear before him. "And trust me, your Pokemon isn't going to be able to back you up on this."

Dianiv looked back at her trainer, confused as to what was going on, before noticing the opposing Pokemon before her and taking an aggressive pose of her own.

"If I have to prove it to you, I will. Dianiv, test out your new Earthquake as a warning. Then take him down with a Dragon Rush if he doesn't hand over the ball."

"Aron, huh? I think we can handle that! Bouncy, Bounce! Then uh... Rock Smash!"

Dianiv looks rather confident as she processes her trainer's orders. She quickly lurches up, gathering all her strength and coming down with the force of an Earthquake. As soon as the shock wave erupts through ground, the Aipom reacts, leaping high into the sky by Bouncing on its hand-like tail. Through the quick leap, he manages to avoid the attack, and targets his landing to come down hard on Dianiv... but the Aron hardly flinches. The young boy clearly looks displeased, but the action is too far along for him to do anything about it.

With quarters made relatively close, Dianiv does not hesitate, acting the moment Aipom backs off enough to give her enough chance to charge. Dianiv barrels in with a Dragon Rush. Aipom barely has time to react, raising its handed tail in an attempt to intercept Dianiv. The monkey manages to slam down with enough force to Smash Rock, but it doesn't do anything to stop the solid Pokémon from trampling him, sending the little purple monkey reeling. Once Dianiv comes to a stop, she looks a little unhappy about the hit, but Aipom struggles to recover from the full force attack he just took even as he gets to his feet.

"Stay strong, Bouncy! Try to Astonish them. Then try the Rock Smash again!" The boy orders, trying his best not to display the nervousness you can sense enter him as his plans don't go quite how he'd hope.

Watching as the Aipom flies up and over the ground to avoid Dianiv's attack, Kael's expression turns to a scowl. Dianiv follows on her orders, taking a hit in the process but putting a lot of hurt on the monkey.

"Alright, don't say I didn't warn you, kid." Briefly, Kael digs into his pack before producing the Thief's Knife he had taken earlier. Slowly, he began to circle around the battle clockwise, signaling Ashaya and Bethany to go in the other direction. "Give me the ball, kid. We don't want to have to hurt you." Dianiv looks over in concern as her trainer brandishes the small blade, but a small smirk flashed in her direction reassures her before Kael issues her orders. "Just let it have a Mud-Slap, and try that Earthquake once more."

With the quite serious turn, you can tell the boy seems a little intimidated, his grip on the pinkish Poké Ball in his hand immediately beginning to falter. His Aipom, however, is far from discouraged, and proceeds with executing attacks in spite of his trainer's faltering. The monkey bounces in in an attempt to Astonish the little steel monster with a surprising slap, but the rock hard Aron is barely phased and responds almost immediately with a Mud-Slap, kicking up a huge wave of dust and dirt. Aipom ooks and eeks as its eyes are assaulted with dirt and grime, and it struggles to wipe them away to continue its assault. It makes a feeble attempt at another Rock Smash, but this one entirely misses the mark, only managing to smash a bit of ground. Dianiv sees her opening, and once again rears up and comes crashing into the ground to start a localized Earthquake. This time, Bouncy is not airborne to avoid the hit, and is rocked quite hard by the shock, falling to the ground. Dianiv stares down her fallen foe, who barely manages to scramble to his feet, but looks rather unsteady when he does.

"Uh... I... uh..." the boy stutters, clearly frightened now.

Looking around skittishly, he pulls out a Poké Ball from his pack and withdraws the Aipom in a flash of red light.

"Here!" he shouts, chucking the pinkish ball your way as he fights back tears, "Take your stupid ball back!"

The ball rolls across the grassy area, coming to rest at your feet.

Dianiv leveled up!

"Man, that was kinda... harsh," Bethany comments, frowning a little.

Ashaya raises an eyebrow, "Well I guess we got what we came for. Let's just get to Violet. We can send the Poké Ball back at the Center there."

To the surprise of nobody, the kid eventually cracks under pressure, recalling his Pokemon and tossing the Pokeball he had taken towards Kael before running away. Of course, Kael's actions net a couple of comments in return from the girls.

"Oh he'll be fine." Kael shrugs off the events, "Kid has to learn the world is a dangerous place. After all, there are Pokemon thieves that work around here, real bad business that is." He smirks once more, waving the knife in the general direction of Ashaya and Bethany as he makes his comment before storing it once more and leaning down to pick up the ball. "And as a bonus, he probably won't be taking anything that doesn't belong to him any time soon."

Dianiv approaches her trainer, sitting firmly on his foot to prevent him from walking away.

"...oh come on, let me go. I know it was wrong, but it's in the past now so let's all just all move on, alright?" A quick click returns the Aron to her ball before it's placed safely away and the trainer motions for the entire group to get moving again.

In response to your comment, the two young women give each other a look and shrug.

"I suppose you're right," Ashaya admits.

With that, the Meditite shoulder their burden once more, and the crew heads south once more. This time, however, instead of taking the southwestern path towards Goldenrod, the party heads southeast. The trees suddenly begin to fall away and the path becomes much scrubbier as you proceed. It doesn't take very long for you to come to the realization that you have arrived in
Violet.

"Ugh," Bethany groans, "I have never been much of a fan of this place. All the dry air does horrible things to my hair."

"Let's just book it to the Pokémon Center so we can get rid of the incriminating evidence... And so our dos don't suffer too much," Ashaya insists.

With your two companions quite insistent, the party heads straight into town, making a beeline for the Pokémon Center in the eastern part of town. By this point, the sun is beginning to set, casting low, dusty shadows over the parched city. Many people are beginning to head home if they are not home already, and the few people who you pass by don't seem too interested in you or the team of Meditite following you. You manage to make it across to the other side of town without a single disturbance, and follow Ashaya and Bethany into the Center.

"Here, give me the ball," Ashaya demands, hand outstretched.

You hand it over and Ashaya walks over to one of the video consoles lining the wall. She flips through a directory screen briefly before finding the number for the Ecruteak Gym and dialing. After a few rings, a young trainer answers the call, looking a little annoyed to have to answer a call at this time of night.

"Hello?" he says with a thick accent.

"Uh, is Auguste there? I think we found his Florges."

The trainer's expression suddenly changes to one of surprise, though still seeming somewhat disinterested in spite of the report of his boss's prized Pokémon being found, and he calls off to the room behind him in a language you don't understand. A few moments later, Auguste enters the shot, looking overjoyed to hear the news.

"Oh you found my precious Florges! Fantastique ! Would you mind sending her over now?"

"Sure, yeah," Ashaya palms the ball and places it on a slight concave depression in the console. The ball disappears in a brief flash, and a similar flash causes it to materialize on the other end. Auguste snatches it from the console and releases the Pokémon inside without a single moment of hesitation. A graceful Pokémon resembling a human-like sentient bouquet appears, cooing happily at the sight of its trainer.

"Oh Florges je suis trčs heureux que tu est bien !" he exclaims again in a strange foreign language, as he hugs the flowery Pokémon.

"Ah well, I suppose this means you will receive the reward. I will send it now," the Gym Trainer says lazily.

The trainer loads a few things into the machine on his end and presses a button. A little panel in the console opens to show ₱5,000 and 2 Star Shards, which Ashaya hands to you.

Auguste, still hugging his Florges, turns towards the screen, beaming, "Thank you again. I really cannot thank you enough. You are in Violet, yes? I will be sure to put in a good word for you with the Leader there. Go see him and he may offer you a battle for all you've done to help me. And I may battle you too at some point if you ever find yourself back in Ecruteak."

"Uh, yeah, thanks. Just for the record, this is all on him, not me," Ashaya points towards you, "I don't really want to bother with Gyms anyway."

"Oh, well, thank you kind sir. I hope to meet you on the field of battle one day! Maintenet, Florges, allons-y !"

With that Auguste runs off, and the Gym Trainer blankly ends the call without so much as a goodbye.

"Rude," Ashaya snarks.

"Kalosians, man," Bethany shakes her head.

"Well I don't know about you two but I'm pretty beat. I'm going to hang out here, maybe get a room. You're free to do whatever you want," Ashaya decides.

"I think I might just stay here and try to get some real sleep myself..." Bethany concurs, "The sun's not quite set yet - do you plan on doing anything?"

After arriving at Violet the group makes a quick beeline for the Center, and Ashaya returns the lost Florges to Auguste while Kael simply watches, aside from a quick wave when she points his way to signify he was responsible for returning the Pokemon. The call is promptly hung up by the rather inconsiderate trainer that had answered and everyone left to roll their eyes at the rudeness.

"Wow, what a complete tool." Kael notes before the girls decide to stay and get some rest, Bethany asking what his plans are for the short rest of the day. "Well, I guess I should check my mail. Apparently I have some packages from this Jeri Co. place again."

A quick wander over to the machine shows that that is just the case, a mountainous pile of gifts waiting for him, including a Dusk Ball, Fast Ball, Heavy Ball, and Friend Ball all in a pack, eight more of these mysterious Star Shards, not one but two Rocky Helmets, a few varieties of candy including six Rare Candies, two Egg Candies, and two Enigmatic Candies, a small bag of berries including two Lum Berries, two Occa Berries, two Passho Berries, and two Rindo Berries, a couple of tickets for boat rides, one a plain Boat Ticket and the other a strange Unown Pass, another TM, this time for Hypnosis, and an odd item called an Up-Grade.

Kael's mind pondered on the last item he picked up from the machine. His Pokedex indicated that it was used to evolve Porygon, but how could this Jeri Co. have known he caught the creature. Everything about this was more and more mysterious by the minute, and he would have to find out more at some point. But the two boat passes brought his thoughts elsewhere. Ashaya and Bethany weren't going to be safe here in Johto, running from the law all the time, and they'd certainly be of more use to him in his presence (whether willingly or not) than in jail. He'd have to think over a bit more on what to do after finishing up his errands here.

Taking the Up-Grade, he takes Niamh's ball and releases the Porygon from it for the time being, handing over the item. "I think this is for you. Now... how to get it to work..." It clearly wasn't doing anything initially, so digging through his newfound belongings he pulled out a single Rare Candy and fed it to the creature. Whatever this disc was seemed to activate at the mere moment as suddenly Niamh began to glow a bright white and its form quickly changed, its evolution taking place as its form settled and a Porygon2 sat in front of Kael.

"Well... that's new." Kael stared on, befuddled. "How's that new form feeling buddy?" he questioned, eliciting a series of happy chirps from the robotic duck. "Great!" came the reply, before a chirp comes from elsewhere, causing Kael to check his PokeGear to notice two trade requests. One asking for his TM Will-o-Wisp in return for a TM Flame Charge and one asking for one of his Rocky Helmets in return for something called a Dubious Disc. Making his way over to the machine once more he takes out two pieces of Inquiry Mail, converting the asked for items and sending them out, the machine producing the agreed upon items.

Another quick scan using the Pokedex reveals the strange Dubious Disc is yet another item for Niamh, used to evolve Porygon2. Assuming the process to be the same, Kael hands the Dubious Disc to the Porygon2 before feeding it another Rare Candy, causing another reaction. Once again Niamh glows white before the flash subsides to reveal a Porygon-Z. The creature's head flits about wildly as it inspects its new body.

"Well, I guess that's that..." Kael ponders for a moment. "I guess I can use some more of these candies..." Producing more candies from his back he lets out Dianiv and Faolan as well, giving the two Enigmatic Candies as well as one more Rare Candy to Niamh, one Rare Candy and one Egg Candy to Faolan, and one Egg Candy to Dianiv, pocketing the last Rare Candy for now. One last Pokedex scan shows that the candies seem to have given Faolan the move Poison Fang and Dianiv the move Head Smash. Finally, Kael hands over a Rocky Helmet to Dianiv, the Aron looking rather happy to wear it.

"Right then. There's still a bit of time to get things done, so I guess we can see about getting those materials delivered and heading to the Gym to check the board for any more missing Pokemon..."

With your team now properly pumped and equipped and daylight fading fast, you decide to make use of the little bit of sun that still lingers before it disappears to clean up a few errands you have remaining. First order of business is to deal with the load the Meditite have been hauling around for you. Luckily for you, as you learn from the Center's resources, your two destinations are not terribly far apart. With your destination set, you head north with the Meditite in tow. The setting sun casts a yellowish glow over the streets and through the alleys, lines of light perpendicular to your northern path.

The first stop is the Sprout Tower. The wooden tower, looking dry and brittle, casts a long shadow in the low and fading sunlight, reminiscent of its sister tower in Ecruteak, though much simpler and smaller in scale. As you approach the tower, you are greeted by another monk, this one a little younger and scrawnier than the others you have so far encountered. He waves you down and approaches, beaming.

"Ah, you must be our delivery! We've been expecting you! Nikko, Tara, come here," he gestures to the Meditite, who bring the wood inside the tower for safekeeping, "Thank you so much! We will be able to take it from here on our trip to the shrine. Ah, and, here's a reward. It's not much but I hope you'll accept it," he reaches into his robe and produces $3000 and a Star Shard, "Feel free to visit us at the Shrine sometime. You are always welcome!"

With that, the monk bids you goodbye. With the daylight fast fading, you don't have much time to stand around and talk anyway. Fortunately for you, the Gym is not too far away. Heading back the way you came and turning a corner finds you in front of the Gym. It is not terribly hard to miss, considering a large blimp now hovers over the old Gym building, casting a shadow on the town below. You enter through the front door of the aged and dried out building to find a dusty, though inviting interior. You make a beeline for the board, finding a flyer for a missing Pokémon almost immediately. This one you recognize - a photo of a Stantler features prominently. A name and Poké Gear number are listed plainly on the sheet. Before you have the chance to dial the number, however, you're interrupted. A young woman, likely in her late 20's, taps you on the shoulder.

"Excuse me, I don't mean to bother you," she leads, "Yves told me to expect you. You're the one who returned Auguste's Florges, no? I'm Ines, one of the Gym Trainers here. Yves said that Auguste to put in a good word for you with William, the Gym Leader here, and get you a Gym Battle for the Zephyr Badge. Well, unfortunately, William went home for the day, but I'm sure he'd be glad to see you if you came back tomorrow. But I'm here a while longer - I'd be glad to help you out with some training or something of the sort if you'd like."

Happy to finally be finished helping with the delivery of supplies, Kael makes his way into the Gym, quickly finding a lost Pokemon flyer for the Stantler he has in his possession. Before he can do anything about it, though, he's approached by one of the Gym Trainers, a woman by the name of Ines. The woman explains that William has gone home for the night, much to Kael's disappointment, but offers to help get some training in if he would like.

"Now that I think about it... I just got this Flame Charge TM that I would like to try teaching to my Aron, Dianiv. Sadly it seems she isn't normally compatible with it..." His voice trails off for a moment as he wonders how these complex machines even work before picking back up again. "Could you perhaps help me with that?"

"Flame Charge on an Aron, hm?" Ines puts on a quizzical look, thinking the proposal over shortly, "I think we might be able to manage that - for a fee of course. I have an idea, but I'm going to go make a quick call to someone with a bit more experience in Rock-types. As a Flying Gym, we're not exactly the best equipped to handle Rocks. And I might need some advice on Fire moves as well..."

Ines goes back into the back, picking up one of the videophones. You overhear her have a conversation, though you can't make out most of what they're talking about. You hear Pewter a few times, the word Aron more than once, and some mention of a training session. She hangs up after a few minutes and dials another line. This conversation seems a little shorter, and you hear a mention of Flame Charge. She soon seems pleased as she hangs up and comes back, looking satisfied with the results of the conversations.

"Well, we don't exactly have the optimal training facilities, but I think we can accommodate. Come with me."

She leads you outside the Gym and around the corner to an area behind the old Gym building. A handful of old crates are piled up, scattered around the rather open alley-like area. Ines reaches for her belt and flicks out a Heal Ball. In a flash of pinkish light, a fluffy, bat-like Pokémon appears. The bat-like Pokémon gives her a knowing look, and without verbal orders, begins to act. A few of the crates are suddenly surrounded with a glowing aura and begin to move, and are arranged into a snaking pattern in the alleyway, drawing out a clear path.

"I spoke with some of my fellow Gym Trainers in Pewter and Seafoam and from what I can gather, the secret to Flame Charge is learning to gather up and manage speed effectively. So, I've given you a bit of an obstacle course here. Give Aron a quick scan with the disc and have her try building up some speed and snake around these boxes. Once she's got the hang of it, we can try again, but this time, she can practice going through the boxes. Sound good?"
