It pained his Pokemon almost as much to see him in this sorry state, Cradily prodding him with a vine to keep him on track while Inkay hovered around his head in efforts to fend off any further brain scrambling. Morelull was the shining beacon leading the way, but even she began to falter in the midst of such impermeable darkness. She would turn back every few seconds, her trainer unable to keep pace any longer. The hopelessness of the situation was spreading like a contagion, Loom looking not so luminous as the path around her began to fade to black. She sunk to the ground, bioluminescence ebbing away as she began to cry… “Loom!” It was the noise that snapped Emp out of his reverie, if only for a moment. And upon hearing his voice calling in the wind, she began to brighten up. And brighten up. Her body enveloped in an evolutionary glow that lit the entire shrubby corridor and then some. Her stems stretched into stubby feet and spindly hands, her three caps merging into one ginormous mushroom, freckled on top with a fluffy pink rim. The metamorphosis had provided enough light to illuminate the way ahead, Emp and the others drawing level with the Shiiontic, unsure if her change of form was another trick of the mind. They were so close to their escape they could smell it, posed with three options once again. “I’ll take option Two…” Emp started with a weary breath, “with extra cheese and a large fries.”

~~~Updates~~~ myahoo: You head down the western path from the Murkrow’s perch. You turn north and then west again, walking in that direction for quite some time before making a u-turn east for an equal distance. You turn north, then east again, then u-turn west and move in that direction until you become completely disoriented which direction you’re actually facing. Your vision blurs and as you spin around you can only make out three options; the first, the second, and the third, each one looking the same. ChrisClark13: You head west from the crowned statue for a short ways with no twists or turns. You spot an old broken pillar up ahead, and as you approach it, you hear some rustling in the hedges. “GARRR!” a spectral entity cries out and grabs you, pulling you through the shadowy hedges. It cackles as it fades back into the foliage, leaving you in a dead end with nowhere to go but east. Pearl’s Perap: You head east from the dead end that you had been dragged into, and a short walk later you turn north to arrive at a small clearing. Ironthunder: You venture north from the discarded furniture, making a slight diversion east before heading north once more. You then make a u-turn south and head that direction for a short while until you come across another clearing. Emp: Walking down the pathway, you immediately make a sharp turn before heading straight for a short ways. Up ahead you see an archway leading to a clearing… it can’t be… the Maze’s Entrance? No way, do you move closer to find out? TheKnightsFury, Missingno. Master, Connor: You choose one of the pathways and immediately make a sharp turn and approach a clearing with an archway… it can’t be… the Maze’s Entrance? No way, do you move closer to find out? Zorchic: Exhausted and embarrassed, you make your way back to the disorienting pathway with three options to choose from. King Ghidorah, lilboocorsola, Raves, Emi: As you passed by the fountain and made your way towards an exit, a small pair of tentacles rose out of the water. However, as something was about to fly out, one trainer ordered their Pokemon to freeze the waters. It did not seem to solidify the murky waters as intended, but the creature in the fountain still cried out in pain as it was disrupted from taking action. A much larger pair of tentacles began to rise out of the water, and several of the trainers took that as their cue to scram. lilboocorsola: You embarked down the western path, which was an abrupt northern turn and an immediate dead end. You head back into the fountain area, frustrated as a shrill laugh bubbled out of the depths of the murky water. King Ghidorah: You embarked down the eastern path, walking forward for a short distance before the trail quickly turns north and then east once more. After another short distance, the trail turns jagged, going from south to east to south to east and then south once more. Soon enough, you arrive at another clearing… Emi: You walk down the trail south of the fountain. It is a straight shot for the most part, with a short bend to the east followed by an immediate corner to the west, and then resumes its north-south track. At the end of the trail you find yourself in a familiar clearing… Raves: You remain in the area, proud of your actions, as a large cephalopod creature emerges from the fountain, and it does not look happy. It fires off a blinding array of hypnotic lights from its bioluminescent skin, completely overwhelming your senses. It feels like your head is splitting open as a voice inside of your head screeches, “BEGONE FROM THIS PLACE AND NEVER RETURN!” Before you realize it, you find yourself walking down the trail south of the fountain. It is a straight shot for the most part, with a short bend to the east followed by an immediate corner to the west, and then resumes its north-south track. At the end of the trail you find yourself in a familiar clearing… sixdragons: You ignore the only possible pathway and run headfirst into a wall of hedges, getting scratched up by branches and a mouthful of leaves. You fall back on your rear, and while you sit there and contemplate your decision making, a yellow clawed hand grabs your ankle and before you know it, everything goes white for a moment… sixdragons: Your vision clears as you stand in another dead end, but this one is definitely different from where you were before. That being said, your only exit is to the north… As you look around, you suddenly notice a very creepy looking Buneary drenched in blood blocking the North exit. You have no idea where it came from, but its unblinking stare gives off very strong vibes to stay away from it. Spoiler: show ~~~Locations~~~ Armored Statue: (Emi, Raves) You come across a rather large clearing that is highlighted by a prominent statue in the middle of a soldier with a shield in one hand and a sword in the other. Your options are South, West, North, North East, or East in the direction of the spooky tree. The statue seems to be taking an aggressive stance… Fountain: (lilboocorsola) A rather unremarkable clearing that’s sole feature is an old fountain. The water jets have long since ceased their functioning, but the basin is still filled with a murky water. A large pair of tentacles wiggle back and forth poking out of the water. Your options are North, East, West, or South. Defaced Statue: (King Ghidorah) A dirty and dingy clearing that looks like it’s seen better days. There’s an old bust of a man smashed into several pieces on the ground, unrecognizable as it’s been vandalized and scribbled over with a marker. Your options are North back towards the fountain, South, South West, West, or North West. Discarded Furniture: (Pearl’s Perap) A small resting area littered with some discarded garden furniture. There is a rusty bench next to an old table that has a leg that looks like it’s about to fall off if you feel like taking a rest. Your options are West, North, or South. Dilapidated Shed: (Ironthunder) A clearing with an old decrepit gardening shed. Most of the old gardening tools are in a pile outside of it, rusted over. Your options are South, East, or North. Disorienting Corridor: (myahoo, Zorchic) A simple fork in the road, but a mysterious feeling completely blocks your perception of direction. Your options are the First pathway, the Second pathway, or the Third pathway. A trail of string seems to be going down the First pathway. Maze Exit: Maskerade |
Allison was a bit late to the party of getting to the Haunted Mansion, a result of her lack of funds for travel. But she wasn't about to let her being late prevent her from exploring the maze like all of these other trainers were. Riding around in here wasn't likely a good idea, so instead of her trusty Rhyhorn, her small Pidove, Tina, accompanied her for now, perched upon her shoulder letting out a small coo as she buried herself in her trainer's hair as the duo approached the entrance to the maze.
"Hey, uh... I'm sorry that guy tried to attack you earlier. I promise we don't mean you any harm, we just want to get through please... Here, you can have these, if you'll let us pass..." She said, tossing the candy into the pool from (what she hoped was) a safe distance. (Did squids even eat chocolate? She wasn't sure.) Simultaneously she also flipped the blinker randomly on and off a few times, wishing she knew actual morse code or something to communicate more effectively, but hoping the message would get through regardless. With that, she swallowed and - praying her peace offering would suffice to appease the beast - attempted to head towards the East, as it was the only option she hadn't tried yet.
"...did we really just go back to the entrance?!" exclaimed Keith and Willa simultaneously. Once they realized they'd said this in unison, the couple couldn't help but smile at each other, even in spite of seemingly having been sent back to the start somehow. Maribel shook her head. "That can't be," she stated. "It doesn't even feel like we've been teleported at all, and there's no way we went in a circle like that. I think it's more likely that the exit looks identical to the entrance." "Oooh, right, it probably would!" Phantump nodded. " "...oh. Yeah, that... that does seem more likely," Keith chuckled weakly. "Indeed," Willa nodded, blushing slightly at her previous jump to conclusions. "Pumpka! Pumpkasaur!" Autumn grinned. The Pumpkasaur wasn't hesitating to lead the way forward. This was enough for the others- if Autumn wasn't deterred by this, then neither would any of them be, and so onward they marched, moving closer to the archway. "Thinking we'd gone back to the entrance," Keith chuckled. "I can't believe I thought that." "I should have been more level-headed than that," Willa stated quietly. "Hey, c'mon, I came to the same conclusion, so don't beat yourself up there," Keith said gently. "Even said the same thing as you at the same time and everything." Willa couldn't help but chuckle at this. "I guess it is a fairly easy mistake to make," she conceded. And the couple continued to smile at each other, now holding hands as they followed Maribel, Phantump, and Autumn towards what they certainly hoped at this point was the exit. |
~~~Updates~~~ ChrisClark13: You head east from the dead end that you had been dragged into, and a short walk later you turn north to arrive at a small clearing. Pearl’s Perap: You venture north from the discarded furniture, making a slight diversion east before heading north once more. You then make a u-turn south and head that direction for a short while until you come across another clearing. lilboocorsola: Fearing retaliation from the tentacle creatures for the other trainers’ actions, you make a peaceful offering of some chocolates and attempt to communicate with them by flashing a light at the fountain. The tentacles subside back into the depths of the murky water, seemingly content with the offering, and a soft glow flashes from beneath the surface of the water in response. You take that as your cue for safe passage, so you swiftly make your exit. lilboocorsola: You embarked down the eastern path, walking forward for a short distance before the trail quickly turns north and then east once more. After another short distance, the trail turns jagged, going from south to east to south to east and then south once more. Soon enough, you arrive at another clearing… King Ghidorah: You head south from the defaced statue and head in that direction for a short ways until the path makes an abrupt u-turn and heads north for quite some distance. The trail then makes a quick east then west diversion before turning back north into another clearing… Emi: You move onto the path north east of the armored statue. The path immediately diverges with a trail heading North, a trail heading South, and a path South West heading back to the statue. A dark haze seems to obscure the atmosphere… Raves: You look to move back towards the direction of the fountain, but as you attempt to take a step the voice in your head echoes once more, “NEVER RETURN!” and your feet refuse to budge any further. Looks like this direction is no longer an option for you, as you face a mental block in going that way. sixdragons: Indecision is the enemy of progress as you sit there and get into a staring contest with the demonic rabbit. It slowly hops closer and closer to you as you’re backed into a literal corner. With one big bounce, it lands on your head, and you can’t seem to shake it off as it drips blood all over you. You suddenly find yourself sinking as if you were in quicksand. You look down and notice that the grassy ground you had previously been walking on was now a pool of blood, and there is nothing you can do as you gradually sink deeper into it. You and your Pokemon struggle, but the flailing only speeds up the process. Ultimately, you hold your breath and close your eyes as your head sinks beneath the surface. It’s dark and cold here, and you feel yourself falling, albeit very slowly. Your breath starts to run out and the feeling of despair begins to sink in. As you finally begin to anticipate your own demise, you gag and gasp for air, surprised to find out that the density of the substance you have been falling through has thinned out into a breathable atmosphere. You open your eyes but can see nothing but a red swirling mist. You call out to your Pokemon, but there is no response from any of them, not even ones that are stored inside their Pokeballs. You have no choice but to sit here and continue your descent into this hellish atmosphere. Emp: Second guessing your decisions, you turn around and make your way back to the disorienting corridor… myahoo: Walking down the pathway, you immediately make a sharp turn before heading straight for a short ways. Up ahead you see an archway leading to a clearing… it can’t be… the Maze’s Entrance? No way, do you move closer to find out? Zorchic: You choose one of the pathways and immediately make a sharp turn and approach a clearing with an archway… it can’t be… the Maze’s Entrance? No way, do you move closer to find out? Missingno. Master, TheKnightsFury: You calmly press onward through the archway, and as you do so your vision begins to clear. You look around and see a man standing there waiting for you. It was none other than Professor Palm, who smiles and welcomes you. “Good work, you’re the first one through! Now, let’s wait here for the others, there’s still some time until the ritual begins!” Congratulations on making it through the maze! Please check back on October 31st for the conclusion of the event as well as rewards! Connor: You press onward towards the archway, but as you attempt to do so, you wind up flat on your face once again. You groan in anguish and look over to spot another branch by your feet followed by a cackling “Kekeke” in the distance. As someone clears the exit of the maze, a low growling hiss emits from the Disorienting Corridor as the area becomes more distorted. Connor, Zorchic, myahoo: As everything distorts, you watch as the potential entrance or exit blurs out of your field of vision and you are standing in the Disorienting Corridor once more. ~~~Locations~~~ Maze Entrance: (Sneaze) As you step foot into the Maze of Shrubbery, you experience a strange sensation that you can’t quite trust your sense of direction anymore. There are three paths to traverse; to the East, to the West, and to the North. Armored Statue: (Raves) You come across a rather large clearing that is highlighted by a prominent statue in the middle of a soldier with a shield in one hand and a sword in the other. Your options are South, West, North, North East, or East in the direction of the spooky tree. The statue seems to be taking an aggressive stance… Defaced Statue: (lilboocorsola) A dirty and dingy clearing that looks like it’s seen better days. There’s an old bust of a man smashed into several pieces on the ground, unrecognizable as it’s been vandalized and scribbled over with a marker. Your options are North back towards the fountain, South, South West, West, or North West. Discarded Furniture: (ChrisClark13) A small resting area littered with some discarded garden furniture. There is a rusty bench next to an old table that has a leg that looks like it’s about to fall off if you feel like taking a rest. Your options are West, North, or South. As you look around, you suddenly notice a very creepy looking Buneary drenched in blood blocking the North exit. You have no idea where it came from, but its unblinking stare gives off very strong vibes to stay away from it. Dilapidated Shed: (Ironthunder, Pearl’s Perap) A clearing with an old decrepit gardening shed. Most of the old gardening tools are in a pile outside of it, rusted over. Your options are South, East, or North. The Perch: (King Ghidorah) A lone Murkrow sits on an old manmade perch in the middle of a clearing. Your options are East, West, or South back the way you came. “EAST,” the bird squawks as it gazes down at you. Disorienting Corridor: (Emp, myahoo, Zorchic, Connor) A simple fork in the road, but a mysterious feeling completely blocks your perception of direction. Your options are the First pathway, the Second pathway, or the Third pathway. A trail of string seems to be going down the Second pathway.
