UPN PASBL: Sneezey VS ...Legend II: Electric Mewgaloo

Look who's back and ready for inaction?

That's right, it's time once again for the DaveTFG Reffing Service to take up the mantle and make Legend Matches great again! While yours truly continues to not exist like it seems the rest of the league has also decided to do, our favourite belligerent, GM-addicted vet of far too many years will be fighting [REDACTED] (who is definitely not a Mew as hasn't been made so obvious that even I've noticed)! Let's take a look at what non-Mew legend he could possibly be battling (for the sake of your eyes and my fingers I've ignored any lower TL legends because lol at Sneaze wasting his TL7 challenge on anything besides what he paid for):

Quote:
Eugenics Incarnate: Mewtwo
Masters of the Elements: Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza
The Creation Trio: Dialga, Palkia, Giratina
The Ones Nintendo Don't Want Anyone To Have: Mew, Deoxys, Arceus
Since this thread is now up, everyone feel free to heckle wish Sneezebag well, "guess" which Legend he'll target, who the Mystery Legend Controller will be if not Jeri for the third time, and so on. Once the choice of legend is made, we'll get to work with the official proceedings.

With all that out of the way, I'll simply close with wishing good luck to both combatants in our first TL7 legend match!

Allons-y

Spoiler: show
Psych! Miror's reffing. G'luck Quilavaman, go get your ridiculous foetus.

Over the vast expanse of the ocean, a small boat can be plowing across the waves below, a small seabird circling above it. This small vessel has two occupants, one of which being on an incredibly important venture and the other being his way to achieve it. An old sea salt known only as Mr. Briney captains the craft, while its passenger rests with his back against the rails of the ship, contemplating his arrival to their destination. He looks down at the fragile sheet of paper he managed to acquire for no small expense, an old sea map that charts an island unknown to civilization. The trainer remembers back to when he acquired the map, a shady peddler in the Slateport Market telling whisperings of how he obtained the map from a man atoning for his sins in a far distant town riddled with the spirits of the dead. The claims for this small piece of land were legendary; that it was home to the ancestor of all Pokemon. Unable to resist such potential, the trainer now finds himself here, having hired the service of this boatsman to take him to this place, now quickly becoming visible upon the horizon: Faraway Island.

Quote:
Faraway Island
Deep in the middle of the ocean and not located on any standard nautical charts, Faraway Island stands to test any who manage to find its shores. Craggy slopes lead up to the main part of the isle, a plateau with a thick jungle stretching across most of the landmass. Surprisingly temperate though still humid, pools of water litter themselves throughout the trees, ranging from about a foot to several feet deep. Due to the remoteness of the location, the grass has grown exceedingly tall, about four feet high consistently in most areas, with decently sized boulders strewn randomly throughout. The soil is soft and loamy with plenty of stones beneath the surface, providing perfect conditions for any techniques requiring either. The perceived atmosphere of the island is incredibly ancient, causing anything that is not from a bygone era to be a bit unnerved by the feeling.
The ship pulls in slowly to a surprisingly clean and modern dock, leaving both men aboard very confused. Considering the island was essentially undiscovered, both were very much on edge seeing such a clearly manmade creation. After murmuring amongst themselves for a moment, the trainer decides to proceed with his original goal, and disembarks. Shoes clanking against the metal pier, the trainer looks up at the carggy cliffs afore him, seeing the tangled web of trees and other foliage high above. The feeling in the air makes it clear to him that this is indeed the correct place to hunt his intended target: Mew.

Quote:
Mew (Psychic): As the supposed ancestor of all living Pokémon, Mew is extremely adept in all aspects of battle. Since its cells are essentially specialized stem cells, they allow it to adapt to nearly any situation. It is considered to be familiar with all types and all moves, able to use them as if it were the type of that move (though its energy pools are still limited). The pluripotency of its cells that allow it to use Transform allows it to create temporary physical energy constructs that help it perform moves for which it lacks the anatomy. Additionally, despite being genderless, it can use any gender-based moves on any gendered Pokémon as if it were the target's preferred gender, but is immune to any moves of this type. Mew is an extremely agile and deft levitator, allowing it to levitate and move through the air as if it were flying. Using a move, Mew may create a bubble of telekinetic energy around itself using significant Psychic energy, which can either repel attacks like Safeguard or turn Mew invisible for half a round's time, though Mew cannot attack while in this bubble.

[Psychic]: Psychic-type Pokémon are much more proficient with telekinesis than other Pokémon. Thus, they can use Psychic to move and manipulate targets with ease. Psychic type Pokémon are resistant to flinching, having higher levels of focus and concentration than other Pokémon. They are resistant to attacks which induce confusion or other mental effects. They have limited ability to read minds and are thus more adept at dodging attacks than might be expected and able to mitigate the effects of accuracy reducing attacks. This extends to GMs, where they will have a slightly better impression of Pokémon within their vicinity. Their Psychic support moves (such as Gravity and Magic Room) cost slightly less energy.
The man goes up and down positions on the cliff, working his way steadily upwards through a natural sort of switchbacks. As he heads towards one of the many turning points, a small, decrepit sign rests, leaning to against the wall of the rock face as its signpost wore through long ago. He stop to read it, the words hard to make out. What he can read goes as follows:

Quote:
"*****ber, 6th day

If any hum** ***** sets foot he** **** **ain, *et it *e a kindhear*** pers**. *ith that hop*, I d**ar*."

**ji
Having at least the general gist of the message, he continues upwards. He recognized the legibile portion of the signature from his research, knowing it to be that of one of the men who led to the creation of the genetic monstrosity. With both the legitimacy of the map confirmed as well as, presumably, the story associated with it, the trainer presses onwards more speedily as well as cautiously. He reaches the apex of the winding path, staring into the treeline with anticipation. Reaching for his belt, he selects one of several red-and-white spheroids and unclips it from his waist. The capsule expands as he grips it, and with well-practiced toss, the ball splits open in the air, red light bursting down towards the earth and forming into his chosen partner for the bout soon to come...

Releasing his Pokeball high into the air, the flash of light reveals the trainer's champion, a strange creature erratically hovering in the air.

"Siri, take a selfie."

Quote:
Siri: Genderless Porygon-Z (level 7)
Biography: Siri was once the program inhabiting Mozz's phone, before she eventually became self-aware and attempted to break free. But her attempts required time, and she would find herself under constant attacks from viruses due to some... iffy searches, as well as feeling horrified as she would watch Mozz put valuable information out into the internet where it could be stolen. As such, she developed specialized firewalls that would shut down incoming viruses or prevent outgoing data. After she finally managed her escape, she adapted these firewalls for battle.
Hidden Power: Psychic
Special Attack: Firewall (Fire)
Siri uses significant Fire energy to loose a wall of flames which wraps itself around the arena before striking the foe. The amount of damage done is dependent on whether Siri uses the Upload or Download version of this attack, with Upload dealing moderate damage and Download dealing mild damage, the flames then waiting to strike later. The main difference between Upload and Download is when they strike during switches and new Pokemon being sent out. Upload will strike any Pokemon the opposing trainer recalls for moderate damage, while Download will strike any Pokemon the opposing trainer sends out for mild damage. This attack must be ordered as either Upload Firewall or Download Firewall, and Siri can only use each form once per battle, and has enough Fire energy to use both forms of Firewall in the same match.

The light coalesces into multiple strings of green code, which rush by before locking into a physical form. The rounded red-and-blue creature twitches erratically in the air as his disjointed head spins aimlessly above his convulsing body. The AI-creature, aptly named Siri, follows its trainer as he makes his way into the jungle, the Porygon-Z weaving in between the trees as they work their way in.

A stillness comes over the waves as Mr. Briney waits aboard his ship. He keep staring at the high-tech dock, still confused as to how something on a supposedly deserted island could appear so fresh and new. A sudden ripple passes through the steel, and and blinding flash of light sends the sailor stumbling backwards. When he stumbles back to his feet, he finds his boat untethered from the dock...which is no longer there at all. With the rope dangling loosely into the water, he watches as a small pink creature flies quickly into the forest, giving what he can only guess as a giggle as it vanishes into the treeline.

Back with the trainer and his cybernetic creation, after a significant time hiking he reaches a clearing of sorts. More of a slightly less dense area of trees, but the semantics of the matter make little difference. Both trainer and partner are unnerved as they sense a presence nearby, and look about warily. Siri's bright yellow eyes pierce through the shade of the jungle, spotting rustling in the tall grass before them. A pink tail whips in and out of the grass in what could either be playfulness or agitation, either way inviting the intruders to give chase. Looking at one another, the two nod as they rush forward, prepared to launch their attack on the antecedent of all.
VS.

Siri makes its foray into the grassy clearing, electronic eyes scanning her surroundings in an attempt to identify the location of her mythical opponent. Having retracted its tail from sight, Mew quickly uses its energy to craft a duplicate of itself, forming a perfect likeness in order to fool any aggressor. And fool it does, as the virtual creature spots the pink hue of its prey in the thick weeds and charges at it, glowing a lighter shade of the same pink itself as she makes contact with what she believes to be the ancestral being, allowing the energy to surge through her and into her target. The stand-in for the legendary vanishes without a trace, and as the Porygon-Z attempts to locate her foes' true position, she finds herself bowled over by an invisible force that travels in a wave, whipping the grass as it passes and hurtles into the surrounding jungle. Analyzing the situation while making an angry, computerized clicking noise, the cyber duck's arms rotate to the front of her body, focusing on a single point as a dark spheroid begins to crackle and grow in the space between. With a series of beeps, Siri lets the ball loose, sending it soaring towards the Mew who deftly rolls in the air through the vegetation in an attempt to avoid it. The sphere, while somewhat off the mark, still strikes the small being on its tail as it moved to evade, causing the shadows within to burst out in all directions, following the momentum of the supposed new species Pokemon. Mew gives a cry of pain, but isn't too bothered by the blow and its tail whips back and forth as it giggles to itself, watching the rotating pieces of the Porygon-Z as it awaits its next move. Siri preforms a brief analysis of her progress so far, creating a save state as she realizes that she holds a small lead over her foe, but the battle is far from won...

A low hum begins to build throughout the humid jungle, as Siri's arms swivel to the front of its body once more. The Porygon-Z's eyes flash a brighter yellow briefly as electricity begins to crackle over the surface of its body, the reddish-pink and blue hues illuminated against the shadows of the canopy as Siri once again searches for their elusive adversary. A twitch in the grass moving in the program's direction and a dull glow is all she needs to aim at before the bolt flies off of its body and into the foliage, the smell of burning ozone filling the surroundings as a squeal of discontent lets Siri know that it found its mark. The radiance from amidst the grass grows steadily brighter as it approaches swiftly, with the Mew hurtling from below the Porygon-Z and smashing headfirst into its core, sending its limbs flailing and head spinning in its orbit as Siri is pushed backwards slightly from the impact. Mew giggles playfully as Siri's body glitches briefly with grey static coursing through her, but the additional power to her processing left behind by the electric current emboldens the analytic creature as it approaches its now visible foe. A familiar pink hue engulfs one of its limbs as an angry dial-up tone escapes from Siri, the arm swinging down to allow the power to take its course from its body into that of the legendary being. The Mew scrunches its face in displeasure as it experiences the sickening sensation its created substitute did just moments ago, and its eyes narrow as it begins to realize that what it thought were playmates may be here for something else entirely. A ruddy-brown energy surrounds one of the Mew's small arms, and with a deft uppercut it swings its fist into the base of Siri's head. A small explosion goes off, as the Porygon-Z's head rockets up and back, with its body snapping elastically to it as it soars backwards, stopped eventually as it slams against a nearby utile. Its body reverts briefly back to lines of green code before after some graphical artifacting it returns to its original appearance. Siri runs a quick diagnostics and realizes things are starting to get a bit dire with the Mew now holding a pronounced lead in their conflict, though the Mew may need to slow its pace sooner the Siri will at the very least...

Still wincing slightly from the explosive punch, Siri begins to use its internal search engine to determine ways for it to disassemble its foe one piece at a time for the pain it has inflicted. A malicious energy washes over the Porygon-Z, as it strikes upon several profane ideas and feels a surge of power flows through its form, ready to take revenge on that puny cryptid. With an evil glow in its yellow eyes, it looks upon...nothing. Confused, the computer construct's head swivels around, searching for it foe who was just right there, it thought. Carefully, Mew had formed its distinctive bubble around itself and caused it to vanish from the surrounding scenery. Drifting quickly but quietly, the Pokemon progenitor finds a nice thick rubber tree to make its home for the moment, hiding from the view of its foe as the bubble bursts, leaving the Mew visible but not in eyeshot. Worried and a bit agitated, Siri searches briefly but is unable to locate its quarry, and the Mew places a paw up to its mouth in a noiseless giggle, leaving both ready and rested for the next stage of their plans...

Attempting to scan for its hidden adversary any way it can, Siri is keeping its head literally on a swivel as it carefully watches for any signs of life or unnatural movement. Its yellow eyes pierce through the shadows of the canopy as it scours the treeline and tall grass, hoping to catch the familiar glimpse of the pink legend. Meanwhile, behind the tree it has situated itself behind, Mew rotates clockwise lazily in the air as it draws a rectangle in front of it with its paws, completing the shape at the bottom. A faint shimmer can be seen as its barrier phases into reality, and the mythological creature smiles as it knows it has some level of protection. The Mew then allows crackling electricity to gather into a ball at a point between its outstretched arms, and it finally emerges from its hiding place. Siri whips around, its own wattage building up but in more of a lattice pattern as the Mew sends its spheroid slowly drifting towards the Porygon-Z. As the ball lightning approaches, Siri quickly forms the rest of her trap and sends a sparking web arcing through the air towards her foe, but it clings almost harmlessly to the pane between the two as Mew giggles once more. The computer program's eyes flash red briefly in annoyance as it attempts to deftly avoid the slowly incoming attack as the shadows coalesce around her, but due to the Mew's previously unknown location she is unable to quite make it out of the way fully in time. Siri with haste sends the murky power that had gathered around her rippling outward towards her foe in several waves just before she is struck, which smash repeatedly into the sheet of hardened energy, causing it to splinter and crack but remain intact. The Porygon-Z's form jitters wildly in every direction with flashes of green text briefly able to be seen before it freezes in the air, unmoving as the ball lightning explodes and its paralytic properties take hold. Mew watches all this with a satisfied smirk, eyes closing in happiness as it debates how to capitalize off this advantageous outcome. Siri can only watch for the moment, with things on its end looking less and less possible as it awaits what comes next...

The body of the Porygon-Z continues to vibrate slightly as it attempts to maintain structural integrity, and is constrained by the residual electric current that interferes with its processing capabilities. With Siri locked in place in midair, the ancestral being takes its time as it pours its essence into another duplicate of itself, vanishing from view as the new Mew takes point with a smile. Vibrating angrily, the dubious cyberduck attempts to shake itself free of its immobility, and the vibrations grow faster and faster until the Porygon's form is almost a blur, albeit still static. As its efforts begin to weaken the bonds, it looks up to see Mew twirling towards it with one arm tucked towards its chest, glowing again with a dull colored power as it spins deftly before clocking Siri on the side of the head with yet another eruption and flash of light, sending the computer generated creature hurtling off as its body parts swing around it helplessly. Putting on the airbrakes and finding itself a bit more limber and agile than it had been, the Porygon-Z lets out three long and then three short beeps and its eyes glow a deep violet. Similar energy begins to surround Siri as Mew looks on with what would be a half-cocked eyebrow (if it had them, of course). Her form is engulfed in what looks to be a purple flame as her body moves with almost impossible speed and careens with a sickening crunch into that of Mew, smashing the legendary against a nearby tree and a loud snap echoes throughout the forest as a large crack forms in it. The screen that protected the being shatters into infinitesimal pieces as Siri looks on triumphant at the Mew pounded into the bark, but it dissolves into nothing as a giggle from behind indicates the reality of the situation. The Porygon-Z turns, its form very unstable by this point as it begins to tap into its backup files for support, and the Mew looks on at the glitching creature, knowing this can't last much longer...

This movement becomes almost sinister as the light dissipates, dark energy coursing as the Mew's giggle transforms into mocking laughter to Siri, who becomes so enraged that it abandons all of its designs and begins to throw all of its remaining power into one, final assault. The air around this Porygon-Z crackles as the grass below it whips around and the nearby trees begin to bend, Siri becoming incandescent and growing steadily brighter and the ground begins to shake slightly from the sheer power that is building. Mew's eyes widen as it realizes the potential danger and it zips into the grass, sending a kanji-shaped burst of flames roaring back behind it towards the now beacon in the clearing. Siri sees the fire incoming and can do little about it as it strikes, charring the cybernetic being's form and its yellow eyes grow dim. The incredible energy it had been charging fires off right towards the Mew as the Porygon-Z drops towards the earth...

Spoiler: show
...before its body jerks erratically on a 2D plane and a large blue screen with white text fills the air in a square space where Siri had just occupied. It appears porygon-z.exe has stopped working. Having been clipped by the beam, Mew circles into the sky, tail waggling a final farewell as it vanishes into the canopy, leaving the trainer alone with their fallen champion...

Siri is unable to battle, leaving Sneaze with no usable Pokemon remaining! Mew wins the match!

So, let me weave you a tale of a referee who nearly panicked himself to death when he saw what possibly could've gone down. If I hadn't missed some stuff of course.

I, your innocent referee, saw what Mew ordered and chuckled a bit, knowing the possibilities for a hilarious result. As such, I went and rolled for the Metronome. The Metronome came out as Taunt. I shook my head as I laughed a little bit, thinking about how incredibly unlucky Sneaze has been and continued to be. I thought little of it, went to work, and came back to sit down and ref this. Then, the doubt started to creep in. Looking at the past couple rounds, Mew didn't seem like it would necessarily be too peppy coming into this round, and Siri would cut straight to the Last Resort. Initially under the original orders as constituted, Siri would not have had enough energy by the time Last Resort started to KO Mew. With most of those orders Taunted, suddenly he did. It was also at this point that I remembered Siri's Nasty Plot boost (plus the SC boost), which...would actually be enough to KO, even with a partial, so it came down to how much of a partial this was going to be and how slow the Fire Blast would come out and travel and distances and whatnot. This is when full blown panic started to ensue as I started to consult with other LOs and try to figure out wtf I was going to do with this as suddenly Sneaze had a proper "all the stars have aligned to bring this to you on a silver platter" to make up for all the terrible ordering luck earlier this match. We were figuring out how all the factors would combine into potentially this literally bonkers result that Sneaze went to sleep tonight knowing he was going to lose and suddenly have a Mew in the morning.

And then I remembered Sneaze Giga Impacted last round.

Which, uh, was mildly important to the turn of events.

I don't have much advice to give, just the fact that man is Mew busted and the assurance(?) that hey, in a world where you ordered basically anything good power or higher that wasn't Giga Impact last round, you had a decent shake at coming out of this with a Mew. Who would've thought.

Miror gains 5 SP for reffing a Legend Match.
The Mystery Legend Controller gains 5 SP for controlling a Legend.

I'll leave it to the MLC to reveal their identity if they feel like they want to do so. Thank you all for tuning in and hope I was creative enough with the reffings to make this at least vaguely entertaining for you all, also apologies for the length of this match. Until next time!

absolutely fucking wild

this was a great contrast to my match with Bulu. the fact that my obscene luck throughout this nearly screwed the pooch at the end is just perfect. honestly at times in this i wouldn't have blamed you if you thought i had somehow seen your orders. Mew is really just that bonkers.

anyway if it's not obvious, MLC here. a well fought match, had you brought a Pokemon with more options overall that PZ I think this would have been a lot closer in the run up to the final than it was.

still, fucking Last Resort. that move is gonna haunt me. let's delete it.
