I never got the phrase 'As American as apple pie'. Because it's not like the latter predates the former by several centuries.

It's not about the origin, it's about the prevalence or cultural significance. Do you scrunch your brows when people equate capitalism or monetarism with America? Does it upset you that people associate soccer with Brazil?

That stated, I don't really know many (or any?) people who eat apple pie with anything nearing the sort of regularity you'd think would be required for that saying to have any weight. I probably eat a slice of apple pie somewhere in the neighborhood of once every one to two years.

Also, as mentioned in the other thread, I enjoy medium well, but I've never really liked red meat so I don't really care too much about steak.
