The only difference between Southampton and F.C. Porto is that Southampton aren't in UCL scoring 5 goals against clubs from Belarus. Southampton definitely has material to fight the Europa League, so they should be there, destroying sketchy central European teams.

No doubt they have the firepower, but they need to retain it for more than a paltry season before selling out. Porto play the smart game in that they always keep enough talent to still be fighting it out in the big pool, even if they don't do spectacularly well, and they use that as a platform to bring through even more youngsters and talent to parade to bigger clubs.

Is anyone else disappointed in PSG's performance in the UCL Group Stage match against AFC Ajax? Ajax, however, DID have a brilliant second half, while PSG just scored minute 5 and started playing a pretty boring game from that point onward, as if they had a 3+ goal advantage. I mean, it IS strategically valid, Chelsea do it all the time on UCL playoffs, but PSG just doesn't click with that style of play; not when they pack the big guns they pack.

PSG in being vastly underwhelming shocker. Honestly, the majority of their team are hugely egotistical, it comes as no great surprise that they almost 'snubbed' Ajax.

In other news - Liverpool you so bad.

Leicester were dogged and determined throughout the entire match. The single piece of luck in them getting the first penalty threw Manchester United off entirely. Defence was a shambles, nobody was tracking back. They were too busy wondering what the fuck just happened to prevent the inevitable storm. He'll be gone before the season is done at this rate.

In other news! Arsenal out, Tottenham through. What is happening here, Kush?

Just five months after avoiding relegation to the conference, my local side sit two points ahead at the top of league two with a run of easy games immediately ahead of them. Much "wooo!" is being had.

Also yeah I saw the Southhampton-Sunderland scoreline. 8-0 is ridiculous. I mean, did Sunderland just field a local under-15 side in place of their first team or something? Maybe they thought it was five a side?

Clearly there's something in the Tyneside water that means they're shit against teams from the far south.

Obligatory 'Fourrrrrr - nilllllllllllllll' directed at Connor goes here.

The first own goal was ludicrous. Obligatory "I said Southampton could get top 4" comment here.

Oh man, I just saw this on MoTD. If that'd not been an own goal it would've been beautiful. Being a defender, that will probably remain the best goal Vergini ever scores.

I live in Leicester.

The city lost it well and truly. I am also hungover. Again. Worth.

Why that? He's the only one who managed to do the double over the champions :p

And sure must be fun in Leicester now.

Also, on a completely different topix. I'm hoping for a Bayern vs Manchester City Champions League final, and a Liverpool vs Shakhtar Europa League final.
I've kinda had it with the same Spanish teams in the finals... heck if Sevilla reach the Europa League final again they could win it for a third time in a row...

Edit: well... guess I jinxed that than...

So while I'm loving the traditional cocktease from an Arsenal teame pretending like they have a chance of being relevant this year, it's great to see that England are still hiring idiot managers.

Read all about it. And apparently the problem is bigger than Big Sam.
Wonder who they'll turn to next, but look at the positive side, it's a chance to rectify the mistake of hiring him in the first place...
