Well, I have no physical copy of SS, and I don't really have a computer that can run a rom, so I think I'll just play normal Silver. Still a fantastic game. So I guess I'll still be in that mindset. Oh well. heh.
Also, See above edit for proof if you like.

Ha. Gyarados is amazing and the easy mode 3rd-end gyms/league is so very well worth the struggle of levelling it to 20.
Obviously it only gets better from then onwards. I despise myself for leaving it behind in SoulSilver and actually defeating it in Silver (ohlawd the young Shuckle was an idiot) but run through II got me a Gyarados. ... I want to hack a ROM to have one of the choices be Magikarp, then make Splash an actual thing so that I can kill stuff pre-16. Then? Gyarados vs. the World.

All righty, finished Yellow with my team (Fearow, Dodrio, Kangaskhan, Snorlax, Chansey, Tauros) not even at Lv. 50 (highest was 48) and I'm now in Crystal next with a full team already in Violet City (Pidgey, Rattata, Sentret, Spearow, Teddiursa, and Dunsparce)

So I hopped on the bandwagon for the FR/SS/Emerald/Platinum/Black challenge, even if I'm a little late. For FireRed I'm doing a Normal Monotype Challenge. My only rule is that they have to be only Normal type, which means no Pidgey/Spearow/Doduo. Here's what I have so far.
>Begin with Squirtle. I'm ~temporarily~ using it just to get by the first gym, since I don't fancy getting by it with just a Rattata. >Caught Ryan the Rattata. >Grinded plenty to get Ryan to Level 13. Squirtle solo'd the first gym at Level 7. >Catch Diana the Clefairy in Mt. Moon. Grinded in there for a little bit since I had a ton of potions >Taught Diana Mega Punch so it wasn't stuck with Pound. Saving Mega Kick for Snorlax. >Released Squirtle, and grinded more. >Took down Gary with ease. Worked my way to Bill. Ryan evolved. >Ryan solo'd Misty Here's my team: Ryan Level 21 Raticate -Thief -Hyper Fang -Quick Attack -Tail Whip Diana Level 20 Clefairy -Mega Punch -Pound -Sing -Water Pulse I'm tempted to evolve Diana now, or wait for Meteor Mash. Hm. My planned team is Raticate, Clefable, Snorlax, Tauros, Snorlax, Persian. |

An update to Red's Ultimate Normal Type Challenge:
-Caught Capone the Meowth. I was hoping for a female one but they're a pain to find so I sucked it up. -Evolved Diana -Grinded in Diglett's Tunnel and other places -Got through SS Anne with ease and got cut. -Challenged Lt. Surge -Capone took out Pikachu and Voltorb, Ryan took out Raichu. -In Diglett's Tunnel now Current Team: Capone Level 21 Meowth -Cut -Pay Day -Bite -Growl Ryan Level 26 Raticate -Hyper Fang -Quick Attack -Thief -Dig Diana Level 25 Clefable -Mega Punch -Shock Wave -Water Pulse -Sing |
