So England stomped Italy but didn't get enough points to beat Ireland. Ireland beat France 22-20 to claim the title. Watched the last 15 minutes, pretty good match, though I winced when Sexton tried to stand up to Bastareud and it didn't end well.
Good campaign by Ireland, they certainly deserved the win, and a great note for O'Driscoll to go out on. Also Wales wrecked Scotland but that's just a formality these days. |

Oh man, that is a note and a half to leave on. BOD life.
Shoulder to shoulder, we'll answer Ireland's call! |

You're definitely right that Ireland deserved the title, even if we did beat them in our match with them. The England Italy game looks great but we were always going to require Ireland to balls it up realistically. They almost did. Quote:

It's funny because Ireland and France ended bottom last year.
I feel Wales could have done better against Ireland and England. They keep letting away crowds get to them. They're nigh-unstoppable in the Millennium Stadium but with one or two exceptions they do poorly at the Aviva or Twickenham - stadiums they always play at in the same year. They seriously need to buck up during the Internationals in Autumn and for the next Six Nations to prove they stand a chance going into the World Cup, or they're get swept out with the trash while Australia and England go through. |

I almost hope I'm still around in 2015 so I can run a Rugby World Cup sweepstakes and force people to like the sport.

The groups are ridiculous. Australia/England/Wales/two others, South Africa/Scotland/Samoa/two others, New Zealand/Argentina/Tonga/Georga/one other, France/Ireland/Italy/Canada/Romania.
How the fuck do you call the knockouts from those. |

I know. I have absolutely no idea. But 20 or so might make some SP on it so.

So then, about an hour and a half until this year's Wold Cup kicks off. Thoughts, predictions?
Man I wish Wales weren't so fucked. |

Spent a good portion of the other night decorating the pub for the world cup. Working all weekend which pretty much boils down to watching the rugby and serving drinks during the breaks. Should be good.
But man that England group. Australia AND Wales? Jesus.

Well it looks like we got through a World Cup, a Premiership season and the Six Nations without this thread being posted in. Whoops.
Anyway! This weekend sees the return of the Premiership. For a quick refresher, last season saw Saracens retain their championship title, London Irish drop into the Championship and Bristol get promoted back to the top flight, with yours truly having gone up to Ashton Gate to watch them secure promotion over Doncaster in the final game. With me now starting to actually give a shit about domestic rugby, I've found myself supporting Bristol, given that it's a semi-local team (central south coast Premiership team when) that both my parents have ties to. Given the choice between them and Gloucester... I'm going for Bristol. Typically, they've just lost by 2 points to Harlequins in a pretty poor showing from both sides, Bristol not taking enough chances and Quins not dominating nearly enough for such a long-standing Premiership side. This weekend has already seen Bath show a glimmer of return to previous form by narrowly defeating Northampton, while Saracens kicked off their title defence by crushing Worcester. Also Newcastle appear to have bucked up following their near-relegation last season by pipping Sale to the post, while Gloucester managed to bungle a huge lead to lose to Leicester in a manner that should be all but incomprehensible to anyone who's never actually seen Gloucester play. Tomorrow promises a good game in Wasps vs Exeter, seeing a return of one of last year's semi-finals, and one of the fiercest matches of the season. But this is just the first week of many - thoughts, predictions? Will Saracens manage it three years on the trot? Will Bristol (wheyyyyyyyyy) storm up the table to mount the Premiership comeback of the decade? Will Exeter keep up last year's momentum and take the title? Please don't make me the only person to post in this thread ;; |

League is bad and should feel bad.
Idk I don't really have a local team that I care about. Who do I like Dave? |

Well you're in London (and from relatively close to London) so you could go for Saracens or Harlequins? Or you could go back to your Keele days and support Sale.
I 'unno really. |

Newcastle actually won a game this is great.
Exeter better not win the fucking Premiership. I mostly prefer Saints regarding domestic rugby but I am okay when Leicester do well since I live there. |
