CGI is disgusting

Why is there still a huge stigma against video games and cartoons, when modern movies are animated using the same CGI techniques? Like The Mandalorian's set pieces were constructed in the Unreal 3D engine, the same video game engine used for its effects.

That's not as unwieldy to me as animating dogs and the Yukon on in a Los Angeles computer room.

At the same time, Into the Spiderverse which has a cartoon-like aesthetic, pulled in a fraction of the money as Far From Home.

I'd like someone to articulate why 3D good, practical bad. CGI can obviously be a powerful tool used for things that can't be done practically, but these days it's being used in place for things that can be practical, despite CGI being more expensive.

Spiderverse was fantastic. It's probably my absolute favorite movie, if I had to make a ranking (and I like a lot of movies). That being said, going pure CGI is pretty dumb. Cartoons or practical effects all the way.

It's dumb but it's what people want, and I can't understand why they want it. I've long tried to understand how "dumb people" think because money talks and it indirectly affects what I get to see.

I should clarify that for Mandalorian, it uses my preferred use of CGI - rendering backgrounds, using Star Trek technology. It's not perfect, though, since at times I still got the scene that Mandalorian had a "video game" sheen to the look compared to the original Star Wars, or even the prequels.

In Knives Out, there was a scene that was obviously CGI that was done to cover up damaging a wooden door, and it was visibly perceptible and took me out of the movie. I guess that's understandable, but it's still not acceptable to me, especially when a set could have been built practically just to destroy that door.
