Army, Navy, or Air Force?

Which would be the "least bad" military branch to enroll in? At least, for someone with a professional degree? From what I've seen, the Air Force is the safest, then the Navy, then the Army, but the Army has the best benefits. However, the Army has a greater chance of wasting someone with professional training by putting them in something stupid, id est, taking the second best intelligence student from West Point and making him a tank commander in Iraq.

Out of all of them, I would probably pick the air force.

Agreed. Everyone I know IRL who joined the Air Force got desk jobs.

Re: Army, Navy, or Air Force?

I've been told by various people (military and civilian alike) that the Air Force is all "the desk jobs of jets" while if you want to be an actual fighter jet pilot, you need to join the navy. Apparently piloting the planes falls under the jurisdiction of the Navy (somewhat perversely, if I may add ) because it's the Navy who controls the carriers and therefore transports + houses the jets. I have no idea when that transformation took place, as I'm fairly certain (historically) that the Air Force was founded around the men who piloted aircraft in WW1 ... but I guess the transformation did take place and the rest is history.

Army = frontline fodder
Air Force = desk jobs
Marines = hardcore fighters, not intended to be sent to die
Navy = on boats, in submarines, or flying jets

That's my understanding. So I'd say ... Army is the least safe, Air Force sounds the safest but the nerdiest.

Re: Army, Navy, or Air Force?

The Navy of course. In the Navy, you can do two of the greatest things...Wear assless chaps and club seals. Think about it. You can be chilling out at WalMart with the pair of assless chaps that the Navy will give you and someone will see you and be like "Dude! Those are some ****ing sweet assless chaps. Where'd you get them?" You'll be like "The Navy bitch!" He'll respond "Sweet! I've gotta join the Navy!" You'll also say "You also get to club seals" He'll be speechless for like a few seconds and be like "OMFG! That is the most awesome shiznit I have ever heard of! I will definitely join the Navy!"

Ok, in all seriousness, probably the Airforce if you don't want to die. If you are talking about benefits, all the military branches provide loads of them, so that really wouldn't matter. I would go for the Airforce, and you can't go wrong with my decisions.
