Pokédex: Quote:
The groups of Spheal were nearing, and two larger versions erupted from beneath the frozen waters. Pokédex: Quote:
Lucas, meanwhile, eyed the other ongoing battles and wondered if anyone else was going to focus on the Spheal and Sealeo. He started wondering if any of them might benefit from Amabel's Ion Deluge, a move that could turn Normal-type attacks into Electric. Of course, if they had strong and useful attacks of their own, Lucas would doubt it would be necessary. More and different Pokémon had apparently been sent out. Without even noticing it, the newly-evolved Toxapex was substituted for another Fire-type; one Lucas could only vaguely remember to be a Heatmor. A little ways off, a Charmeleon had apparently been replaced for a black Charizard by its trainer, and after that a Scizor. Lucas paid the new Pokémon little mind, merely confident the two Pokémon were a good match-up, before realizing that the bright light he ignored earlier must have actually been Charmeleon's evolution. Lucas felt the need to facepalm for a moment. Luckily, no one should be able to read his thoughts and so no one would ever know of his obliviousness. He would have to make a note to congratulate some of the trainers when this was all over. It appeared that the threat of the snowstorm brought out a few evolutions, and it was by no means a small feat to have Pokémon evolve in these conditions. Lucas fixed his gaze towards one of the Sealeo’s, preferably the one with more water around it. Sealeos were Ice-types, he knew, but they were also Water-types, and Lucas had the perfect partner that could fight in water and had a type advantage. He pulled out another Pokéball of his. “Come on out, Amabel.” In a burst of light, the figure of a blue eel-like creature emerged with a farcical chuckle. She turned to Lucas, stretching her arms with tendrils of electricity between them, offering a hug that would have surely provided a jolt of energy. “Not now Amp,” her trainer replied coolly. The Eelektross chortled a bit in response. “See the Sealeo over there? The Eelektross gazed past the numbers of rolling Spheal. “Discharge on your way there – hopefully incapacitating some smaller threats and scattering them out of her way – then wrap the Sealeo with Bind so it can’t escape and Zap Cannon it. “Eeleeleeleeleeleel,” the Eelektross chortled a bit more before it devotedly slithered across the ice to her opponent(s).

"Now, Isaac! Break through!" Alex called to the ghost type as he cloaked himself in flame and barreled into the piglets, knocking them aside. Following up, the Ponyta spat forth some sort of sticky brown substance, too dark to be mud, which coated another group holding them in place long enough for the alolan pokemon to coat his bone in shadowfire and swing around, knocking them out. This teamwork wasn't lost on the swine, but their efforts to attack from afar were also thwarted without casualty, with Isaac's flamethrower nullifying the powder snow and the launched mud bomb barrage blocked by a shield of fire around Primrose and the Ponyta. The remaining pokemon also chipped in to fend off the swine, as the situation appeared to improve. With the support of both fire pokemon, Primrose had reached the garden entrance, the poor girl not at all suited for the weather as Alex shivered beneath his cloak. However, the positive was pushed aside as a new threat had arrived, harassing the Mudsdale: Vulpix, and snow white at that. Some were pushing an assault on them, but the Swinub were still of concern and could potentially flank the trainers, to Alex's concern. Slowing the hogs down was vital to the escape to warmer climes... "Isaac, focus on the Swinub behind us, not the Vulpix," he barked, a nod from the unscathed Marowak acknowledging the command. "Dive in with a rock tomb followed by a bulldoze to try and make a barrier between us and them, and bash any stragglers with a swift brick break." Taking a breath, Alex shrugged off the cloak, exposing himself to the elements before moving towards Primrose, hoping to offer her the cloak to help keep the chill at bay. He could deal with the bitter wind for a while yet. |

~ ~ ~ As Chroma expected, the Rose Garden was looking worse for wear under the swinubs' raid. She was surprised to see that it was as bad as it was, however- while it's true that the local Grass pokemon were weak to Ice for the most part, the invaders' Ground typing meant that they were weak to Grass in turn. This should've been an even struggle... had another group of Ice Types come through already, with the present pig infestation simply being the clean up crew? Regardless of the details. there was no denying that help was needed on the spot, so the first wave of trainers to leave the Oran Orchard certainly proved to be effective at keeping the foes at bay. Until they got reinforcements, anyway. She had been skeptical about the report regarding a pack of 'icy vulpixes', but seeing the mass of wriggling, blue-tinted white fur harassing an outgoing mudsdale sled for herself kinda rendered that suspicion moot. "Could they be descended from a different set of wizards...?" she speculated aloud as she pulled out her pokedex and scanned into the crowd. The device beeped sluggishly, clearly as unhappy about the frigid air as everyone else, but quickly pulled up a data file anyway. Quote:
"Now then, fortune favors the informed," the mystic muttered as she searched through the pokedex's files. "What do these snowy ninetales have to separate them from the others...?" |

Akame’s eyes narrowed, none too pleased by the ice Pokemon’s attempts to verbally challenge her strength. Instead of sticking to the plan, Akame decided to give it a piece of her mind figuratively and literally, as she rammed the Vanillish with her Iron Head. In an unexpected turn of events, the Vanillish attempted to Harden its soft exterior in order to protect itself, but was a step too slow, hardening itself after the crown of Akame’s helmet had already pierced its side- freezing the two together in the process. Gary bit his lip as Akame attempted to awkwardly free herself from the Vanillish while holding up her now heavy head in the process. His focus was momentarily distracted as he heard a roar bellow across the area. The golden Charmeleon he had recognized as being the child of Ramoth, as well as partner to his friend Jayson, had suddenly evolved into a gigantic Charizard with shiny black scales. Additionally, a swarm of small sea lion Pokemon burst onto the scene from underneath the ice below the waterfall. As Gary scanned the Spheal and Sealeo into his Pokedex, he knew that he needed to use this chance to study them further. Fortunately for Gary, Jayson had now sent out his Scizor named Spartacus to help free Akame from her opponent, ordering some quick steel typed attacks. “Thanks Jayson we owe you one,” Gary smiled, giving him a thumbs up. Thinking quickly, Gary formed a new strategy to call out to his Pawniard. “Alright Akame, brace yourself and position yourself for Spartacus’ attacks! Match his Shadow Break with one of your own to put that Vanillish down before turning your attention to a Spheal! Give it a Mean Look to show it you mean business and then slip behind its defenses with a Feint Attack!” As he finished speaking, Akame gave a quick nod- or at least tried to with a Vanillish stuck to her head.

“Good going Princess!” yelled out Melody, cheering for her partner. Now she just had to figure what to do next. It looked like Princess was better off in the battle, and Melody wanted to keep it that way. Her Stufful didn’t have much in the way of super effective moves, except for one. It was a move that she had only very recently learned and wasn’t… well she wasn’t quite that effective in using it yet. Princess hadn’t exactly managed to get it to work in a localised area, only in a very wide area. But it could be very useful, just as long as she let everyone know before. “Princess!” she yelled out, ready to give some orders. “Hit him with another Leer to weaken his defenses, then knock him back with another Brutal Swing and then, go all out with Earthquake!” The moment she gave her orders, Melody yelled out as loud as she could, hoping that the others would be able to hear it. “Heads up guys! There’s an Earthquake coming and I have no idea how big its gonna be! So, just a heads up!”

“Oh no!” Patches quickly got up while half stumbling and began to chase after the carriage, completely oblivious to the fact that there were other carriages for her to board. Rika just sat back and watched, she knew her trainer would figure it out eventually. It didn’t take too long for that to be the case since Patches eventually slipped and fell face first into the snow which is the second time now that she has done so today. After quickly getting up and brushing the snow off of her clothes she turns around in order to go back to Rika, figuring they would just have to stay here. But she then immediately spots another carriage, which Rika has already boarded, and her hopes suddenly return! She runs up to the carriage and pauses for a moment as another urge begins to overwhelm her, this time to make a snowman. She bends down in order to start grabbing snow but is interrupted by Rika’s psychic abilities which pull her onto the carriage. Next thing she knows, the carriage is taking off and is headed for the Rose Garden. “I was going to be quick this time, Rika!” She huffs and throws a mini tantrum but Rika just ignores her and keeps her eyes aimed at their destination which wasn’t very far from where they were previously. Patches’ eyes begin to sparkle as the carriage pulls up and all she sees are Alolan Vulpix’s everywhere as she completely tunes out the Swinubs, the other people, and the other carriage that they are surrounding. “LOOK AT THEMMMMM!!!!” She squeals and hops off of the carriage with Rika sighing and following closely behind. “Ohmigod there is NO WAY that I am leaving here without one of these cuties!” At this point Rika has realized that Patches has completely forgotten why she’s even here, she did have her hopes up when Patches had momentarily become serious for a moment back there but all of that is lost now. “I’ll piiiick…” With a serious expression, Patches holds her arm straight out in front of her with her pointer finger sticking out as she scans the group of Alolan Vulpix’s. “That one!” Her finger lands on a single Alolan Vulpix that is partially separated from the group. “Alright Rika, we’re going to battle whatever that is and try to catch it because it’s cute, okay?” Rika’s eye twitches once she realizes that Patches doesn’t even know what it is she’s even trying to catch. “Rika!! Hold it off with your Confusion so that you can get in close and then use your Tail Whip and then Quickly Attack it again!”

The Weavile doesn't go down without a fight, but Belial and the other Pokemon manage to overwhelm it. Belial takes a hit, but Eskil can't help but cheer when he delivers the finishing blow. Between the defeat of their boss, and the Houndoom's Roar of triumph, most of the Sneasel scatter. Samuel thanks the trainers for their help, and mentions that he and the farmers can clear up the stragglers if the trainers want to head to the Rose Garden. As one of the locals passes out cups of hot apple cider and Oran Berries as thanks, Eskil greets Belial as he trots back from his victory. "Nice work!" He exclaims, cradling the warm cup between numb fingers. "Are you still doing alright?" Eskil peels a hand from the cup long enough to offer the Houndoom the Oran Berry. "I'm fine. That Weavile was a pushover." Belial sniffs, but accepts the berry. Eskil looks him over with a critical eye, but Belial seems to be okay. He takes a sip of the cider, trying to banish the cold. Nyx's head brushes his cheek as she leans in to investigate the cup, but she turns up her nose at the smell. (She would much prefer some warm milk.) Disinterested by his drink, the Purrloin asks "Are we staying here?" While not as keen on Belial's chances against the Swinub as against the remaining Sneasel, the trainer figures that they probably need more help in the Rose Garden. "Let's move on." He replies, and turns to head for the carriage when he hears someone shouting about 'Icy Vulpixes' in the Rose Garden over the radio. "I guess they really could use our help, then." He says and picks up the pace. "Not sure I've heard of an Ice Vulpix before, but I imagine Belial's fire will work well on it." A hum of acknowledgement from Nyx and a bark of laughter from Belial are his replies. He grins. ~~~~~~ They arrive to the mayhem of a trainers facing off against the group of Swinub, and a pack of white Vulpix blocking one of the other carriage's escape. Eskil jumps out of the carriage quickly, with Belial right behind him. Deciding Belial would be most effective against the Ice Foxes, he heads towards that stand off. One in particular stands out, and his head starts to feel a bit fuzzy. Nyx notices, as he stumbles because of the sensation, and glances at his face. "Oh no. Not again." She grumbles. It does feel similar to...whatever had possessed him in the adoption center, resulting in him adopting an odd little Shinx. But this time it wasn't as strong. A nudge, or a pull. Something to draw attention. He shakes his head. "I-I'm okay. I think." It does make it a bit harder to concentrate, however. Best to get rid of the distraction so he can focus on the task at hand. "Belial." He states quietly. The hellhound is looking at him oddly. Nyx was the only one with him during his last episode, but Eskil wouldn't be surprised if she had relayed what had happened to the rest of the team. "Target that Vulpix with a Will-O-Wisp, and then a Bite." Belial still looks a little concerned, but he readily heads into battle again. (The excitement from his victory earlier makes him eager.) Eskil is calm. He is calm. The feeling in his head isn't scaring him. (If he thinks it enough if might even become true.) Eskil clutches a Pokeball he doesn't even remember taking out in a white knuckle grip with one hand and buries the other in Nyx's fur to ground himself. In order to clear a path, Epona unleashed a swirl of flames to scorch some of the Swinub out of the way. However, this alerted the swarm to start targeting the escapees, as the sizzling swine attempted to butt the bronco back - only to be blocked by the Marowak's own body wrapped in inferno. Epona followed up by hurling a glob of gooey chocolate to entrap the enemies in sticky sweetness. Taking advantage of the pigs' predicament, the fire dancer flung his spinning stick to strike the Swinub with spiritual energy, effectively knocking them out as the club returned dutifully to its owner. (Given how much the hogs had been honey-roasted by this point, Jess had half a notion that all that was missing was an apple to complete the tropical themed meal, but quickly dismissed the image to focus on the task at hand.) Seeing their brethren boar beaten in close quarters, the remaining Swinub wisely stayed back to launch an aerial assault of mud and snow, but were quickly deflected by another duo blaze; the first firewall instantly melted the ice pellet projectiles, while the barrage of bigger brown bullets that managed to make it through rained harmlessly down upon the second shield, unable to penetrate past such secure protection to assault its core. Rallying troops, others soon joined the fray in order to aid their flight to freedom, and thus the getaway group managed to make it through to the garden's gate unscathed. However, what awaited them at the exit was not salvation, but a skulk of frosty foxes, blending into the background so well they seemed to emerge from the scenery itself. Having encountered one of their kind before, Jess wasn't as startled to witness their whitened coats, but clearly these kits weren't as friendly as her former encounter despite their cuteness. Now caught between a rock and a hard place, it was going to take even more teamwork in order to deter both pesky threats. So while her comrade covered their back, Jess determined to focus on the foes ahead and push through to liberation. "Epona, I want you to make a beeline for the carriage. Any Vulpix try to slow you down, just STOMP and DOUBLE KICK them out of the way. Don't let them distract you and just keep moving." Just then, she heard a warning shout from another one of her companions to watch out for a heavy quake coming, and Jess bit her lip, realizing how dangerous such a tactic could be for all parties involved. Gauging Epona's strength, she wasn't sure if the filly would be able to completely keep her balance, and it would be disastrous if her passenger fell off amidst the fracas. Miss Primrose's health was paramount, hence why Jess had avoided any attacks that involved surrounding oneself in damaging elements either. There was, however, a possible method of total evasion Epona hadn't learned yet, but would need a bit of a boost in order to do so. While Jess typically avoided utilizing artificial sweeteners to raise her team's stats, not wanting to spoil them too much - desperate times called for desperate measures, and so for good measure Jess pulled out a few Rare Candies from her pocket, which she kept handy for emergency situations such as these. "Here, girl, I want you have these." She handed out the tasty treats for Epona to sniff and swallow, reminding of their very first meeting when she made a similar peace offering. "They should give you enough energy so you can BOUNCE high enough to dodge the EARTHQUAKE. Just try not to get too hopped up on the sugar rush, okay?" Turning to the little lady, she added: "Better hold on tight, miss. The ride could get a bit bumpy." OoC - Feeding 3x Rare Candies to Lv. 42 Ponyta to raise her to Lv. 45.

Monte swept his feet along the ground to kick up a good amount of sand(well, mostly snow). Unfortunately, the Swinub did not seem too affected, and instead wiggled their noses to find the Scraggy. Athena cheered as his next two attacks hit, and Monte got back some health he had lost to the Powder Snow attack. Back over at the sleds, a Ponyta and a few other Pokemon had been able to successfully retrieve Primrose. The Mudsdale didn't look to be moving, however. "Monte, come on!" Athena called, and her Scraggy bounced off the top of an enemy Swinub to latch on to his trainers shoulder. She walked as quickly as she could through the deep snow to Primrose and Poppy. She had heard the older male gardener say something about vermin, and she was a bit worried about what they might encounter. To her delight, there was a cluster of white, fluffy, doe eyed Vulpix. They looked so soft, Athena just wanted to dive right into the group of them and pet them all. Monte snapped her out of her daydream with a tap on the face. Despite their overwhelming cuteness, these Pokemon were still blocking the path to get Primrose to safety. "Monte, get in there with another Dark Pulse to try to get as many as you can out of the way. If you can corner one of them, use Headbutt, and trip them up with Low Sweep!" She directed. Monte crawled down back onto the ground and trudged through the snow toward his targets. As he headed off, Athena rifled through her bag and retrieved a Pokeball. She had to pet one of these fluffs as soon as possible. |

As Silver started to beat on one of the wild Swinub, it unfortunately had endured all the water attacks that was blasted against it. Afterwards, the Ground and Ice type pig Pokemon struck with its own attack. It spat out mud which covered the Water typed Pokemon's eyes, which would lower its accuracy. Silver started rubbing its eyes from the irritation caused by the liquid earth around his eyes. A somewhat nervous Bill bit his lower lip and thought about the situation at hand. That Swinub used an Endure, which meant that it would be at very very low health, one more hit might do the trick. The other Pokemon in the nearby area seemed to either have the same amount of luck as Bill, or are at least holding their own against the physical pigs. But then it seemed like the other Pokemon had reinforcements coming. They looked like white-maned Vulpixes, but not even the shiny varients of the Fire-typed Pokemon were white, that meant that they were in the same situation as his Geodude, whom was Electric instead of Ground, they're likely Alolan formed Pokemon, so possibly they were ice typed at least. Either way though, Bill had his own sticky situation to deal with. Not to mention the Swinub were still ground typed, so that still gave him a bit of an advantage. "Silver," he started, "start off by shooting Bubbles all around you, then use your Water Gun to try to wash the mud off of your face." He hoped that the Swinub would be taken down with the random bubbles floating about, or at the very least it would be cautious. |

From her vantage point, things looked to be going alright, but someone yelled something from over near the ice and Melissa turned to look as it burst. Water shot upwards and everywhere as Spheal rolled over to open up another attack front with a pair of Sealeo leading the charge. Melissa cursed under her breath and glanced around, hoping she wouldn't have to face them. She could, but she didn't really have much that could take them on effectively that was around the same level as Wildfire. ...there was a black Charizard over there. And the occasional flash of light preceded several of the other trainers swapping Pokémon as they changed their focus of attack. Well, that worked for her. They could take on the Water/Ice dual-types, some of the others could take on the Special-attack-reflecting ice cream cones, and she'd focus on her own part. "Alright, let's take a bit of a breather," she said to Wildfire. "Try to corral the Sandshrew with a Heat Wave, then Blast them with some more Fire and we can take potshots at them with Bursts of Flame." Wildfire nodded and then flared his flames with a "Quil!" before leaping back into the fray as Melissa searched for a suitable place to take potshots from. If they didn't manage to make too much of a dent in the Sandshrew this time, she was gonna start thinking of using some not Fire moves, which would, hopefully be more effective. Maybe Rollout again or Double Kick. Depending on how hard Wildfire got hit, a Reversal could even work, but she wasn't gonna be hoping for that. One of the Pokéballs on her belt jerked hard enough for her to feel it despite the weather and the chaos. She glared down at it. "Jeez. Wait your turn, Mar. There's plenty of time and enemies to fight; don't worry about it."

The Abominable Snowdown A Cloud Garden Winter Campaign Town: Ironthunder, Raves, Patches, morningstar, lilbluecorsola, OkikuMew, Median Dia, CyberBlastoise, Schala, biggggg5, PikaGod, Rotom310 With many of the trainers having finished things up at the Oran Orchard, they arrived at the Rose Garden to a scene of chaos. There were Swinub everywhere and now joining them were a swarm of Alolan variety Vulpix. The weakened Primrose had been escorted over to the Mudsdale carriage, but the ground typed horse had become susceptible to its weakness. Fortunately for her, the second Mudsdale drawn carriage pulled up at the Rose Garden’s gates with a reinforcement of trainers from the orchard, and with the arrival of more trainers meant that there was now a second Mudsdale that was ready to go. As Epona the Ponyta and Isaac the Alolan Marowak worked to escort Primrose to the carriage so she could be taken back to the safety of Galea Town, there were now icy Vulpix before them and angry Swinub behind them. While Epona stared down the Vulpix before her, Isaac turned to cover the Swinub at their rear. Epona proceeded forward with Primrose still clinging to her and Stomped down hard on a Vulpix before Double Kicking another two away from them with her hooves. Isaac stomps his foot down and multiple slabs of Rock suddenly spring up from the ground and trap a Swinub in a Tomb. He then stomps once again, creating a small shockwave the rippled throughout the ground and Bulldozed some of the foundation of the earth. Epona was not unaffected due to her proximity, leaving her footing a little shaky. Fortunately for her, the ground typed Mudsdale was much sturdier and comfortable with the rumbling earth. As Poppy caught up, he helped load Primrose into the carriage. “Thank you,” she weakly whispered, giving Epona a kiss on the forehead and smiling fondly at Isaac, who was a bit further away. With a few remaining Swinub closing in, Isaac turned and smacked them with his bone with the power to Break a Brick. The Swinub’s numbers were finally beginning to thin out as several trainers’ Pokemon continued to plow through their muddy opponents. With mud in his eyes, Silver the Squirtle looked to spread the damage around and not worry about accuracy. He blew a flurry of Bubbles around him, knocking back several Swinub in the process. He then squirted forth a Water Gun in order to wash his face. As he did so, a Swinub had Tackled him right in the chest but by doing so was the victim of an inadvertent point-blank blast of water, knocking it out. Meanwhile, Hotstuff the Charmander was dealing with mud issues of his own. As he breathed a scorching Flamethrower at the female Swinub he faced off against, the mud in his eyes caused him to miss his target by a few inches. Swinub countered with a ramming Tackle, knocking Hotstuff back but allowing him to locate his target at the same time. Another quick Flamethrower hit the mark this time, burning the icy pig to a crisp. Not wanting to waste a moment, Big threw a Premier Ball at the fallen Swinub, pulling it inside. The ball landed in the snow and wiggled once, twice, and three times before coming to a halt with a successful “Ding!” Congratulations Big, you have captured a lv.11 female Swinub! Looking to finish off a cluster of Swinub as well as the one who had fallen for her, Princess the Stufful gave it a piercing Leer to show him she meant business. Next, with another Brutal Swing, she knocked it out for good. As the Swinub continued to fall, Vulpix seemed to take their place as the dominant invaders of the Rose Garden, and many of the trainers’ Pokemon stepped forward to meet their challenge. Hope the Shuppet floated up to an icy fox and blasted it with a Shock Wave before blowing a haunting and Ominous Wind to send a shiver down its spine. The Vulpix countered with a chilling wind of its own, blowing a flurry of Powder Snow at Hope. Not to be outdone, Hope blew a second Ominous Wind, and as she did so, was suddenly overcome with a swirl of spectral energy that made her feel faster, stronger, and tougher all at the same time. After scanning a crowd of Vulpix with her Pokedex, Mélina picked out a female one and sent out Soleil the Eevee to take it on. Soleil fired off a flurry of Swift stars to pelt the Vulpix and catch her attention, and while the icy fox was off balance, the Eevee followed it up with a ramming Quick Attack. As Soleil prepared to sink her teeth into the Vulpix, it quickly flashed her its Baby-Doll Eyes to catch her attacker off guard. The plan seemed to work, weakening the force of Soleil’s Bite before countering with a chilling Powder Snow. Looking to take on a vulpine opponent of his own, Belial the Houndoom picked one out and fired off a small spectral fireball, the Will-o-Wisp making contact with the Vulpix, instantly burning it. Vulpix winced and retaliated with a status move of its own, firing off a Ray of Confusion in the Houndoom’s direction. Belial wobbled unsteadily but was still able to sink his teeth into his target for a crushing Bite. The Vulpix continued to take over the garden, their numbers seemingly endless, as Rika the Espeon picked one out at her trainer’s behest and telekinetically lifted it into the air with a mind-bending Confusion. As it crashed back into the ground, Rika Whipped it with her Tail to lower its guard before slamming into it with a Quick Attack. Not a fan of the Espeon’s speed, the Vulpix answered with an Icy Wind which cooled off Rika considerably. Meanwhile, Monte the Scraggy squared off with an opposing Vulpix of his own. Looking to thin the crowd first, Monte fired off a Dark Pulse to blast some of the Vulpix away. Once he had singled out a remaining foe, he charged forward to attack. The Vulpix shot a rapid Shard of Ice in his direction, but the Scraggy would not be deterred as he Butted Heads with the Vulpix. In one quick motion, Monte kicked his Leg below the Vulpix and Swept its footing out from beneath it. Seizing the opportunity, Athena hurled a Pokeball at the Vulpix, pulling it inside. The ball landed in the snow and shook once… twice… and three times before stopping with a “Ding!” Congratulations, Athena has captured a lv.10 female Alolan Vulpix! Now faced with the remaining swarm of Alolan Vulpix, Miapladicus the Staryu flew into the fray while Spinning Rapidly, sending a few Vulpix flying in the process. The Staryu was peppered by a flurry of Ice Shards that did minor damage as it Spun Rapidly once again to flee the mob. Once the Staryu was clear of the swarm, a surging Heat Wave from Hotstuff did quite a number on the crowd, literally toasting them. Once they were weakened, Miapladicus was able to finish a few of them off with a blast of Power from its Gem. Many more Vulpix and Swinub began to fall as the ground began to shake fiercely. The Earthquake was caused by none other than Princess the Stufful, damaging friend and foe alike. While Hope, Silver, Soleil, Rika, and Monte were able to escape much of the damage due to being further away from the epicenter, Miapladicus was much closer to the action and Hotstuff, Isaac, and Belial were a bit more prone to the ground type attack. Epona was able to gracefully dodge the attack by Bouncing up into the air and then crashed down on an unsuspecting Vulpix to finish it off. ~~~~~~ Once Primrose was loaded up in the carriage and ready to go, Poppy turned to face the trainers. “Thank you so much for helping save the young Miss. If any of you wishes to tag along as a bodyguard, it would be much appreciated!” After waiting for any trainers to accept Poppy’s request and board the carriage, the Mudsdale set off to return to the town. Trotting at a brisk pace, the Mudsdale was about halfway back towards the town before coming to a complete halt. “What’s wrong?” Poppy asked the creature, who appeared visibly spooked. It had sensed some kind of predator nearby, but it couldn’t tell from which direction. ROOARRRR!!! A massive booming bellow suddenly echoed across the plains. The Mudsdale took off running, but came to another abrupt halt as a giant pillar of Icicles Crashed in right before it. Looking outside of the carriage, Poppy spotted a number of Cubchoo that had surrounded them. Standing behind them on its hind legs was a massive Beartic, growling menacingly and ready to strike. “WE NEED BACKUP RIGHT NOW!” Poppy yelled into his walkie-talkie, clearly panicked. “We’re under attack! It’s a giant Beartic and a bunch of Cubchoo!” ~~~~~~~ Poppy’s panicked voice cackled out of Jet’s walkie-talkie back in the garden. “We need to go help them!” Jet announced nervously. However, there was still a number of remaining Swinub and Vulpix in the garden, although their numbers had been reduced considerably. Jet looked over at the remaining Mudsdale, still frozen from before. “Bell!” a cry came out from behind the frozen hedges. It was none other than the Bellossom Queen, looking a little worse for wear. She hurried over to the frozen horse and gave it her best Aromatherapy, easing its wounds and thawing it out. The Mudsdale let out a pleased sigh of relief and whinnied out of gratitude. From deeper into the Rose Garden, an Energy Ball suddenly blasted a few of the Swinub while a Trop Kick scattered some Vulpix as Queen Roserade and Queen Tsareena arrived onto the scene. A flurry of Petals Danced across the garden and Queen Lilligant appeared with a number of flower Pokemon who were residents of the garden. The four queens of the garden had seen better days, but they were finally able to recover up enough to rally the troops and help the trainers defend their home. With the second Mudsdale now ready to go, it was up to the trainers whether they wanted to stay back and help the queens in the garden or go with Jet to rescue the group who had been ambushed by the polar bears. “We need to hurry quickly, but once we get there, I’ll send the Mudsdale back to pick up anyone else who decides to stay behind!” Jet called out as he boarded the carriage. Once again, you are presented with a choice. You may either stay behind in the garden and continue to battle Pokemon or venture out to save Primrose and Poppy from the Beartic. Transportation will still be available even if you choose to stay behind. Reminder, don’t wait too long to attempt to capture a Pokemon you are interested in!

The Abominable Snowdown A Cloud Garden Winter Campaign Waterfall - Maskerade, Ex-Admiral Insane, Missingo. Master, GeminiSpark, Naruxami, 134, TheKnightsFury, Sandaa, Meetan, Lil'twick, myahoo All of the trainers and their Pokemon remain strong despite what seems to be a never-ending onslaught of enemy Pokemon that keep appearing. Whenever there seems to be any kind of dent put into the opposing Pokemon, suddenly a new wave makes their way into the fray, this time an army of Spheal lead by two Sealeo enter the chaos. With Selene the Clefable’s Lucky Chant now active on the field, for the time being, none of the enemy Pokemon are able to land critical hits on the trainers. The battling doesn’t stop for anything, even with the arrival of newcomers. The Glalie at the top of the waterfall continues to watch seemingly unmoving. After the Spheal and Sealeo arrived, the next thing that seemed to grab almost everyones attention for a moment was Balerion’s evolution into a large black Charizard. It was a sight to behold, the bright glow of the transformation even stood out amidst the raging storm. Although he is bigger and stronger now, he still needs a break so in his place Spartacus the Scizor is called into action. Nearby, Akame the Pawniard was dealing with a bit of a problem of her own since the blade on her head was stuck inside of a Vanillish. Ready to help, Spartacus charges over to the Vanillish and carefully aims his Bullet Punch along the Vanillish’s body around the blade that has been caught, careful not to hit Akame as well. It doesn’t take long before Akame is freed and immediately plops into the snow since the effects of Magnet Rise seem to have worn off. The Vanillish is upset at the unexpected ambush and shouts in Balerion’s face just as he began lifting his arm in an attempt to use Metal Claw, but flinched and was unable to continue. After shaking his head to regain concentration, his entire body began to glow with a dark aura. Akame’s body had also began to glow with the very same aura. Both Pokemon smashed into the Vanillish, Spartacus’ flinching caused enough delay for the little Pawniard to hop through the snow and reach the opponent at approximately the same time. They both managed to take down the Vanillish together. Volg the Charmeleon continued the fight that he had started with the Alolan Sandslash, which is good since the Sandslash had no intention of allowing him to get away. The Sandslash had begun to use Icicle Crash in an attempt to cage Volg in by surrounding him with large icicles. This plan, however, was interrupted when the Sandslash noticed Volg beginning to Dragon Dance so instead of caging him in, it decided to pelt the Charmeleon directly with the Crashing Icicles which caused Volg’s dance to be interrupted as he flinched from the impact of the icicles. A bit angry now, Volg leaps onto the Sandslash and digs his Fiery Fangs into the large steely ice spike sticking out of the Sandslashes head, this is very painful for the Pokemon who immediately retaliates by curling into a ball and Spinning Rapidly in the snow, throwing Volg off of it. Volg isn’t done however, and gets back to hit feet with his tail blazing, using the power of the dampened Sunny Day, he releases a Fire Blast right at the Sandslash. The flames also hit some surrounding Sandshrews as well as some of the Spheals that have been closing in. The Sandslash falls over, defeated. Meanwhile, Volg’s trainer Rorik had thrown a Luxury Ball at one of the weakened Sandshrew and was watching as the ball shook on the ground in the middle of the storm. After the third shake, the ball finally became perfectly still, indicating a successful capture. (Congratulations, Rorik captured a lv. 13 Male Alolan Sandshrew) Aster is withdrawn from the field and in her place now is Kyle the Heatmor. Targeting the Alolan Sandshrew that was deflected by Aster’s Baneful Bunker, Kyle releases a bluish flame that instantly burns the Pokemon. The Sandshrew is now upset and charges at Kyle and Slashes at him with its claws. Now in close range, Kyle uses this opportunity to hit the Sandshrew with a Power-Up Punch that sends the icy steel Pokemon flying and tumbling through the snow and is now unmoving as it lays there catching its breath. Before getting the opportunity to move in with his final move, a group of three Spheal have decided to join in on this battle. While two of them charge in and Slam their Bodies into Kyle, the third blasts him with a Water Gun and then decides to kick up the storm around Kyle even more with some Power Snow. The Glalie gets a creepy smirk on its face when it sees the Spheal overwhelm the enemy. Millie the Miltank begins to heal herself with her Milk Drink but only gets to heal a very small amount before she is interrupted by Vanilluxe Freeze-Drying the milk that Millie was supplying herself with. Seeing the Pokemon looming over her she quickly began Stomping in an attempt to free her leg as quickly as possible. The Vanilluxe begins to pelt her with Icicle Spears as she struggles to break free. Finally, the ice breaks and Millie wastes no time going into a Rollout and smashes into the already weakened Vanilluxe and takes it down. The moment the Vanilluxe goes down, one of the Sealeo that the other trainers hadn’t targeted rolls right into Millie with an Ice Ball attack, Millie is taken by complete surprise and before she has any time to react, the Sealeo turns right around and smashes into her again and is so fast it gets to even do it a third time and now Millie is completely knocked out after being overwhelmed so suddenly. Eerie laughter can be heard echoing through the area even over the loud winds of the storm coming from the Glalie who has been keeping watch. Happy the Flareon who was fighting the only Alolan Sandslash left engulfed his entire body in Flames and Charged at the Sandslash and smashed into it for a decent amount of damage. The Sandslash wasn’t done though and hit Happy with yet another Metal Burst. Happy was hurting at this point just like the Sandslash. He limped back over to his trainer in order to receive his healing item and ate one of the Sweet Hearts in order to regain a little bit of health and then quickly Baton Passed his stats over to Silas the Houndoom. The Sandslash Defensively Curls into a ball in hopes of protecting itself from what’s to come. After taking out a decent number of Pokemon, Kong the Slaking is returned to his ball and replaced with Amabel the Elektross. She begins to slither her way toward one of the Sealeo and Discharges as she makes her way over there, blasting several of the surrounding Spheal out of the way. It had looked like the Sealeo’s attention was elsewhere so she went for it and attempted to Bind it in place, however, the Sealeo turned around at the last second and blasted Amabel away with an Aurora Beam. Although that plan failed, that didn’t stop Amabel from attempting to blast the Sealeo with Zap Cannon and so she releases the electric blast in the Sealeo’s direction and only grazes its side and instead smashes into a small group of Spheal that were nearby taking them out. The Sealeo huffs at Amabel and then rolls up into an Ice Ball and smashes into her. After they finally found their way into the battle, Pahalo the Mandibuzz took off after a group of Spheal, fortunately, her overcoat helped protect her from the raging storm as she made her way over. On her way, she also kicks up a Tailwind which helped her gain a great deal of speed which allowed her to weave through the random Water Guns and Aurora Beams that were randomly being shot all over the place. Eventually, she zeroed in on a single Spheal and Bone Rushed the Pokemon who was completely surprised by the sudden attack and was hit five times before the attacks stopped! The Spheal turned toward Pahalo who was hovering above it and shot off a Water Gun which managed to hit the Mandibuzz’s chest, knocking her back a bit through the air. Akame the Pawniard had managed to find her way over to a single Spheal that had found its way over to the area. She gave it one of the Meanest Looks she could muster and the Spheal gets a little offended and immediately goes to wipe that look off of Akame’s face with a Water Gun which hurts and knocks Akame back a bit but she isn’t about to give up. She then charges right up to the Spheal through the snow and whacks the Pokemon with a Feint Attack. The Spheal is now extra annoyed and while Akame is still within close range it Body Slams her backwards. Then, the moment Akame manages to make it back onto her feet she is blasted by an Aurora Beam that was randomly shot off by another nearby Pokemon and unfortunately, found its way to Akame which was just enough to drain the last of her energy has she collapses in the snow. The Spheal stays put with its guard up. Wildfire the Cyndaquil ran into a group of Sandshrew and used a Heat Wave to knock several of them back. He then began to inhale with the intention of Blasting them with Fire but one of the Sandshrew managed to close the distance and ram into Wildfire with its Iron Head causing Wildfire to flinch and forget what they were doing. So instead, Wildfire began to use Flame Burst which took out some of the already damaged Sandshrew. While he was doing that attack, a Spheal rolled onto the scene and blasted him with a Water Gun which he definitely felt. While everyone was fighting with everything they had, most were too distracted to notice that the Glalie had, at some point, moved. It was no longer watching from the top of the waterfall and was now, in fact, slowly lowering itself to the bottom where all of the action was taking place. However, Athena did notice. While the grinning Glalie was slowly bringing itself into the action, Athena and her Clefable had been slowly and carefully approaching from the side while making sure the Glalie doesn’t notice. Once they were in range, their plan was set into motion. “Selene, now!” With that, the Clefable’s fist is full of power as she shoots through the air toward the Glalie and just before she landed her hit, the Froslass that was accompanying the Glalie at the top of the waterfall suddenly appeared in order to take the hit in Glalie’s place. Selene’s Meteor Mash was a solid hit on the Froslass, violently throwing her through the air. For a moment, Glalie was shocked at the sight of his companion taking such a brutal hit in his place. But the second that wore off he let out the loudest most intimidating roar of anger. The ground practically shook from it and everyone, friend or foe, stopped what they were doing and in an instant all eyes were on the Glalie. Once the loud roar finally stopped, he just let out another but this time, he began to glow and transform in front of everyone’s eyes. There was not a single person or Pokemon that couldn’t feel the terrifying aura the Glalie was giving off. Once the light faded and the roar came to an end, Glalie looked completely different. With his mouth hanging open and an icy spike sticking out of his head, he was more intimidating than ever before, he had transformed into Mega Glalie. As everyone stared in complete shock, it slowly turned its creepy gaze on Selene. In an instant, it blows a Sheer Cold wind at the Clefable before it even has a chance to react and is instantly knocked out. “Selene!” Athena’s voice cracked, she had not been expecting her plan to cause this series of events to take place. Before she had a chance to do or say much more, suddenly, Snorunt who were drawn by Glalie’s cries had begun to approach from what seemed like every direction. Froslass had mostly recovered from the hit she took and rejoined Mega Glalie’s side. Once again, everyone was being surrounded by approaching Pokemon, only this time there was the threat of the Mega Glalie before them as well. Please make sure again to use 1 pokemon and up to 3 moves. If you wish to catch a Pokemon, make sure it is properly weakened first before throwing a Pokeball, but doing so does not use up a battle action! |

...except a trio of Spheal seemed to have different ideas. Two Body Slams and a Water Gun, followed by a Powder Snow. "Gah! Kyle!" Keith exclaimed. "Heeeeeat!" Kyle exclaimed as he tried to fend off the snowy onslaught. A quick glance upwards confirmed to Keith- Glalie had seen the Spheal ganging up on Kyle, and seemed disturbingly pleased by it. "Why that little..." Keith grumbled. "Ehhh, don't pay no attention ta dat ovagrown ice cube," Meowth said to Keith. "Yeah, hat man," agreed Vinny. "Focus on the battle, yeah?" Keith nodded. "You're right," he agreed. "Come on, Kyle, show them what you're made of!" he exclaimed. "Get ready to fight back- WHA!?" For at that moment, Glalie made damn sure everyone present was paying attention to it. With one of its Froslass allies struck down by a Meteor Mash, it gave an angry and powerful roar... just before glowing. Keith's first thought was that Glalie was evolving. He then reminded himself- Glalie doesn't evolve. If anything, it Mega Evolves, but surely not... and yet, as the glowing faded, Keith was beholding a form of immense power. "No way!" he exclaimed with pure disbelief. "It did not just Mega Evolve!" "Ohhh, yes, it did, hat man," said Vinny. "What I'd like to know is how, though. Makin' me think there might be a Trainer behind all this, pulling the strings, freezin' this place over as part of some evil plot..." "Mor! Heatmor!" Everything had paused out of sheer shock when Glalie Mega Evolved. And now that the shock had faded, Kyle had no intention of fighting off the Spheal- the target he'd set his sights on was right there, getting in on the fray itself. And as Keith made eye contact with his Heatmor, he knew that Kyle was intent on taking this beast down. A Mega Evolved adversary was a tough one, of course, but Keith knew better than to underestimate this Heatmor of his. Keith gave a nod. "Go get 'em, then, Kyle," he stated. "Mor!" Kyle nodded back, turning to face Mega Glalie. "Let's do it!" Keith declared. "Kyle, whatever Glalie's about to do, head it off with a good, solid Sucker Punch! And once you've closed the gap, use Will-O-Wisp at close range, and then go for Fire Lash!" |

Isaac turned his attention back to Morgana and the Sandshrew. Despite the Sandshrew's rigid paralysis, the little tyke had thrown out a Fury Cutter. Although not particularly strong, Morgana certainly felt it. He hissed, readying another powerful Fire Fang --- hoping to clamp down on his foe. The sunlight hanging behind him was assisting him in his plight, causing massive damage to the small rodent. Isaac was eyeing the creature, that paralysis... as well as the damage inflicted upon it would certainly cause it's movements to be hindered. "Mona, stop!" Isaac called. The large cat turned, glaring at his trainer. Things were just getting good! Why would Isaac stop him? "I think the little guy has had enough, and we could certainly use something like him on our team... don't you think?" Morgana rolled his eyes, Isaac was always a sucker for new Pokemon to train. He took a few steps back, allowing Isaac to get a more clear shot of the rodent. Isaac quickly chucked a Great Ball in the general direction of the Sandshew, hoping that it would at least be captured. For now, he watched the ball -- but Morgana let out a loud Roar, causing some of the other Sandshrew to back off. Isaac was roused from his thoughts for a moment, realizing he needed to give commands to his Pokemon in order to fight off the ever continuing onslaught of Pokemon coming down the mountain. He watched as the captain's Clefable fell in battle, his eyes widening at the thought of such a powerful foe coming towards them. He had never been good at battling, he had never been much good at anything to be honest. He had to think of what Kyle would do at a time like this, that always filled him with strength. He watched as another trainer and his Heatmor approached the Glalie, hitting it with everything they had. "Mona, run over there and help! Head it off with a Fire Fang, and then follow it up with an Ember!" Morgana smirked, pushing Sandshrew backwards with his massive paws as he ran towards Keith and Kyle. He nodded to Kyle, before charging up his fangs with fire to chomp down on that Mega Glalie.

While they had managed to free Gary's Pawniard and finish off the Vanillish, both Spartacus and Jayson knew that there was a lot more work to be done before they could consider themselves victorious. The leader of the ambush had finally revealed himself, a massive Mega Glalie had appeared with a Froslass alongside him, either as lieutenant or perhaps the pair were romantically linked. Either way, Jayson was glad to see a number of trainers direct their attention to the pair, Jayson would join them shortly but first he and Spartacus had to put the remaining Vanilluxe down. While Balerion would have greatly weakened the fully evolved Ice type, it had likely been recovering a bit of health from the hail while Jayson had rushed to Gary's aid. He was confident that a good combo of strikes from Spartacus would be enough to put the ice cream down, relieving the Glalie of another of its generals. "Spartacus, time to finish what Balerion started! Rush the remaining Vanilluxe with a Bullet Punch, combo into a Metal Claw before putting it down for good with a Shadow Break! The shining red Scizor streaked towards its new target. Looking to his other Pokemon, Jayson noticed that Balerion and Thowra were remaining rather close to each other, perhaps trying to keep each other warm. He would likely need one of them to help him against the Glalie when they turned their attention to the Mega Ice type, although he feared it would be considerably stronger than any opponent they had faced so far. |

As for Happy himself, after going in one more time with Flame Charge to get another boost to his Speed, he took a second Metal Burst and was getting very low on health, so he went back to Hyrem and ate a delicious Sweet Heart cookie before he transferred his two Speed boosts over to Silas, hoping that by Passing the Baton to the Houndoom he could take care of his family while Silas did the rest of the work. Happy would have talked with Kenna except she seemed busy suckling on her trainer's crumb-filled hands, which Hyrem would have objected to if his Rapidash's mouth wasn't the one thing keeping them protected from the frigid temperatures. "Ugh," he shuddered, "can somebody explain to me why I didn't bring gloves for this?" "Ah, one of many weaknesses I shared with other living humans," Tsurara mused. "Of course, I do know of an easy way out for you~ ...Well, easy for me, at least." Hyrem looked at the Froslass floating towards him with hunger written all over her face and moved even closer to Kenna's warm body. "I'd really rather not be a ghost or a frozen statue right now, thanks." "Suit yourself~" she said, continuing to wait for the battle to end before pouncing on one of many unconscious Ice Pokemon. Meanwhile, Keith's Heatmor was doing quite a lot of work against another of the Alolan Sandshrew, although he left himself wide open for three Spheal to team up and punish him. The Miltank freed herself and finally did enough damage to finish off one of the Vanilluxe, but one of the Sealeo from earlier counters her Rollout with two hits of its Ice Ball attack, making her the first casualty of the trainers' Pokemon. One of the trainers actually chose to engage the new arrivals, the Elite Four trainer switching out his Slaking for a regular looking Eelektross, who was able to thin out the group of Spheal as well as garner the second Sealeo's attention. At this point, it finally occurred to Hyrem: where was Tate? Their Vaporeon and Eevee were here, where did they go? The answer came with a squawk from up in the air, and he barely had time to look up before the Pokemon swooped in on one of the Spheal, dodging numerous attacks before Rushing in, striking with her Bony talons multiple times before taking a Water Gun to the chest. Hyrem looked beside him to see the rider atop the avian with a macabre sense of fashion had already dismounted and recalled Happy's family, to the Flareon's sadness but also relief that they would be perfectly safe inside their Pokeballs: it was Tate! "Is that your Pokemon, Tate?" Hyrem tried to yell through the howling winds. "It looks really cool!" He also took this moment to register the bird to his Pokedex: Mandibuzz, the Bone Vulture Pokemon. Mandibuzz used to be known as a scavenge, carrying dead bodies of people and Pokemon back to its nest to feed itself and its young. However, recent sightings have confirmed it will also swoop down to grab any living, defenseless being and carry their prey off as well. Its nest consists of the bones of victims that have been completely stripped clean of any meat, and most of these bones belong to a Pokemon called Cubone, suggesting it to be a favorite prey. Some bones are also adorned by this Pokemon, presumably to attract mates, but only female Mandibuzz are known to exist; however, the fact that they still reproduce suggests they manage to find male Pokemon of other species and mate with them. "Wow, and Tate's Mandibuzz looks really unique too!" he remarked, observing the glimmering plumage that looked like the night sky. While that was happening, now that Team Flash Fire no longer had a charge to protect, Happy and Kenna had more freedom to watch what was going on around them. Akame, having taken down the Vanillish, had moved on to one of the Spheal, but she was unable to stay in the fight and was knocked out by Spheal's Aurora Beam. The Cyndaquil had better luck, spitting out a Flame Burst to knock out multiple Alolan Sandshrew, though yet another Spheal saw fit to take a pot shot at the Fire Mouse and Water Gun him, threatening to put out the flames on his back. As all of this happened, Athena saw the Glalie had finally decided to join and sent her Clefable against him, though a hidden Froslass jumped out and took the Meteor Mash attack meant for the Glalie, enraging it and...causing it to change? Hyrem soon recognized this form as being similar to what he does with Sera, but...how would Mega Evolution even be possible unless there was a trainer nearby? Hyrem was soon snapped out of his thoughts as the Clefable was suddenly chilled to the bone by the Sheer Cold breath that Mega Glalie was spewing. In addition, not only was the Froslass still around, the Steel-type attack not enough to knock her unconscious, but a group of Snorunt soon joined the two, likely their offspring. "Ooo, the drama is definitely picking up now~" Tsurara's comment rang with glee. "Not only is the Glalie already spoken for, but he's a father too! Hehe, I wonder if that other Froslass is willing to share..." "Can we talk about your inevitable betrayal later!? I'm kinda busy at the moment!!" Hyrem retorted, once again having to pull his hands out of Kenna's mouth so he can focus on his Houndoom as he was heading into the fray. "Silas! We have to try to finish up what we're doing here before we go help the others take on that Mega Glalie! While that Alolan Sandslash is curled up, take the time to use Nasty Plot, then once it pokes its head out just blast it with a Flamethrower attack! That should be enough to finish it, but if not use Incinerate on it; if it does, use Fire Spin on one of the Bergmite instead!" "Houn!!" he barked, rushing in until he would be in range to attack the Alolan Sandslash; hopefully, this would be the turn it would go down so everyone could focus the rest of the battlefield, while Hyrem would look at the Bergmite before joining the others in battle against what looked to be a very powerful Pokemon.

“I… I did it?!” Amidst the confusion, the Heimlan had managed to capture a new Pokemon, one of the strange Ice-Type soldiers that had been recruited for this massacre. Perhaps, once things had settled down, he would be able to study the creature and understand its true motivations. For now… The battle is far from won. Slowly but steadily, the Trainers around him were pushing back the ice hordes, taking the fight to the leaders of each regiment. And, much to his own surprise, he was among those successful Trainers. “V-Volg…” Rorik watched as the Charmeleon took everything the Sandslash leader threw at him, even cancelling his Dragon Dance, and retaliated with frightening fury. Fire Fangs pierced and shattered the enemy’s spikes, and even when it tried to retreat, Volg gave chase. Suddenly, his tail’s flame erupted in a Blaze of giant proportions, and the ensuing Fire Blast was so violent, it not only incinerated the Sandslash but also sent a number of its lackeys flying about, helplessly. For a moment, Rorik feared that the Baimon would overwhelm his friend again. Weakened to the point of triggering his Blaze, and enraged by the damage he’d taken – not to mention the frustration of seeing another of his kind surpass him in strength -, the ideal conditions for a relapse were set in place. And indeed, when the panting, heavy-breathing Charmeleon turned around, eyes locked on the Glalie that joined the frey, Rorik saw the red in his stare and feared the worst. Furthermore, the new foe achieved a form beyond evolution, transforming before their very eyes into Mega Glalie, a beast whose power was unlike anything they’d faced up until that point. It even disposed of Athena’s Clefable with a single move… Volg began walking toward Glalie, blinded by rage and lust for combat. Each step was heavy and melted the snow around it with the heat his body radiated. But then, just as Rorik thought he had completely lost control again, Volg stopped. Up ahead, a Heatmor and Incineroar were running to tackle the Mega Glalie. And despite their obvious bravery, Volg saw something else in that scene. He saw a mistake. He saw a disjointed effort. He knew, even without having faced them, that neither of those two could ever hope to match the beast’s power. He saw it clearly now, even when his blood boiled with anticipation of conflict – despite the Baimon. And if they couldn’t hope to succeed, why would he? What sense did it make for him to rush into a lost cause all by himself? He understood now: without Rorik, it made no sense. And then, it happened. Finally having attained full control over the Baimon, maintaining the capacity for rational thought over the instinctual desire for destruction, Volg was complete. A burst of light enveloped completely, and that light grew and sprouted wings. When the glow subsided, Volg stood over twice as tall as before, wings spread wide as he roared fiercely. No longer was he just a lizard consumed by rage – he was a dragon, whole at last and in full control of destiny. Despite what Ulrik Holstadt might have believed when he let his son have him, Volg was now a . “Volg… dear friend, you… look at you!” The Charizard looked over his shoulder at the shocked Rorik, then turned around to return where he belonged – by his Trainer’s side. As he passed Guntz, he exchanged a look and a grin, then held out a closed hand for a fist bump with the Snorlax – despite his newfound power, the dragon was aware of his injuries. He was passing the baton to the Pokemon he admired the most. “You know what you have to do, right Guntz?” asked Rorik, smiling at the new level of chemistry on display by his team. “Your turn to do some damage.” Guntz grinned and cracked his knuckles. He’d been waiting for this! Keith Masters is a legend in his own right, and they say his Heatmor helped take down a Heatran once… but even then, two Pokemon won’t take down that Glalie alone, thought Rorik as he administered a Hyper Potion from his Bag to the injured Volg. And besides, we’ve already seen his “living shield” in action. We have to provide support, or it won’t end well for Keith and Isaac. He might not have realized it, but at the same time as Volg had conquered his greatest weakness and evolved, so had Rorik himself. All trace of hesitation gone, he was now thinking like a true Heimlan warrior and no longer as a Professor. He knew exactlywhere he belonged and what his role in this battle had to be. “Guntz, we need to make life easier for Heatmor and Incineroar. Approach and Yawn at Glalie to slow it down, then shift your focus to the Frosslass hovering around it!” If they failed to neutralize it, someone else might suffer the same fate that had befallen Athena’s Clefable. That servant had to be dealt with. “Keep it at bay with a [b]Rock Slide[&b] so it won’t interfere, and blast it with a Flamethrower afterwards!” Hopefully the earlier Meteor Mash had already whittled down the Frosslass’s health, but Rorik knew all he could rely on was Guntz now. And they had been together for far too long for the man to doubt his oldest, strongest partner. --- Using Hyper Potion 1/3 on Charizard

Suddenly, without warning the Glalie who seemed to be in charge of the invasion floated down to take its place on the battlefield. Gary glanced and spotted Athena and her Clefable engage it, but as a Froslass stepped in to take the hit, Glalie became enraged and burst with powerful energy. Its form changed and grew as its spikes became sharper and icier while its jaw became unhinged and presented a fierce row of teeth. With a powerful blast of Sheer Cold, Athena’s Clefable was instantly taken out. Gary cursed under his breath. “We’re going to need to help over there in a minute, but before we do, let’s wrap things up with this Spheal first!” Gary pulled out a Net Ball and tossed it before the young sea lion. “Alright Raph, you’re up next!” The Net Ball burst open in a bright flash revealing a large Blastoise. Raphael took a look at his surroundings before starting down at his current foe. “Ram into it with a Rapid Spin and then combo that into a hard Rock Smash! Then finish things off with a powerful Aura Sphere,” Gary called out as he produced a Dive Ball from his bag. Once Raphael was finished attacking, he would attempt to catch the Spheal so they could turn their attention to the imposing Glalie not too far away.

Mélina deeply thought about what should be their next move. She found it a bit unfortunate that Soleil's abilities weren't as flexible despite her extra training, but for the moment, they'll work with what she has now. "Ok Soleil, almost there," she cheered her on, "a little cold like this doesn't bother you much anyway! And I still need your delicacy, as we don't want her to faint, but just close enough to be very tired and easy to catch, alright?" "Eevee!" the fluffy brown Pokémon replied after shaking off the snow out of her brown fur. "Ok, let's start off strong with a Take Down, then wither down the rest of her energy with a well-placed Quick Attack. Finally, show your own Baby-Doll Eyes, so hopefully it'll distract her long enough for me to catch her!" Immediately after giving her orders, the trainer pulled out an appropriate Ice Ball, and readied herself to throw it to the ice fox as soon as Soleil finish pulling off her moves and her snowy opponent is tired and distracted enough to be more easily caught. While she did though, she overheard the message coming out of Jet's walkie-talkie, stating an emergency about what seemed to be the farmer man who went off with the young girl being attacked, again, but this time by Cubchoo and Beartic. Although Mélina preferred to stick to her plan she already set in motion, she made the mental note that as soon as the Alolan Vulpix is added to her team, she'll go up and help them. Isaac's flawless performance was however marred by a sudden shaking of the ground of greater magnitude, as someone's pink bear of sorts triggered an earthquake, though the healthy status of the alolan pokemon meant he was still standing strong, if a little shaken by the sudden attack. Thankfully the Ponyta evaded the technique by bouncing into the sky and crashing down on some unfortunate Vulpix. Poppy's request to tag along as bodyguard was noted by Alex, as he nodded. "Isaac, conserve your energy and fall back, we've got the girl to some safety!" With a relieved nod, the fire type retreated to Alex, what with some opting to remain as cleanup. "We're coming too, sir." Grabbing the carriage and hefting himself on followed by the Bone Keeper, the trainer joined the caravan to their next destination, away from the chill of the garden. However, the journey wouldn't be simple. Around halfway through, the Mudsdale seemed spooked, as the man raised an eyebrow, turning to Isaac. The Marowak's eyes narrowed, bone held close in defence. The bellowing roar and crashing icicles swiftly answered that question. "Holy sh...uppet!" Alex stopped himself from full curse what with young Primrose in earshot as a massive white beast suddenly showed up with a number of smaller bears with globules of snot from their nostrils. He swallowed. "Isaac, stay put! I need you here to keep the carriage warm and to ward off any intruders." Reaching into a pocket, he pulled out a seldom-used pokedex, scanning at the Cubchoo while holding a ball resembling a rock. Giving a gentle toss, the rock ball released a small brown creature who took a swift dislike to the cold, with her perpetual frown deepening. "Attila, prepare to fight. Surround this carriage with a layer of stealth rocks to dissuade these things from approaching it, then wait for my orders." Scanning the Cubchoo, his plan was simple: find a male Cubchoo and take it down to a point where it can be removed from the fight. The Beartic would come later, once the Larvitar had tasted a real fight. "When I point one out, hit 'em with a dark pulse then close in and give it an iron headbutt to disorient it." Grunting, the rock type looked at the massive Beartic before the carriage, before sneering and turning away. She wasn't the sort to run from a fight, but was at least resilient enough to choose her fights well. |

He got up and shook himself off, glaring at the Spheal. Melissa stepped in before he could throw himself at the Water-Ice dual-type to take it down. "Wildfire!" He paused, still tracking the Spheal. "Get over here so I can heal you!" He hesitated for a moment longer and then trotted back to Melissa, who sprayed him down with a Potion. There was the sound of some kind of impact closer to the waterfall itself and both of them turned to look. The trial captain's Clefable seemed to have hit a Froslass? with some kind of attack while aiming for the Glalie that had apparently drifted down to the battle. After a moment of staring, the Glalie roared and both trainer and Pokémon covered their ears and cowered. When it stopped, Melissa cautiously squinted towards the Glalie and then stared as it glowed and transformed. She pulled out her Pokédex and pointed it at the recoganizable-but-unfamiliar form that the Glalie had taken on. So, that was a Mega Evolution. Melissa put her Pokédex away as it shot a Sheer Cold at the trial captain's Clefable and stared again as the attack knocked the Clefable right out. Well, that didn't bode well for them. Nor did the appearance of a fourth wave of attackers. "Alright, here's what we're gonna do," Melissa said. "Wildfire, Heat Wave the rest of the Sandshrew then Rollout as quickly and for as long as you can. Doesn't matter which enemies you hit, but try not to let them hit you. If you do get hit or you decide to stop, use Double Kick to keep them off your back and regroup, got it?" "Quil!" He nodded sharply and leaped back into the fray.
