Would be neat to know what the true post counts are. ASB TOs are so spammy I doubt any non-ASBers would make the Top 25. Would be neat to see if the ASBers who made Top 25 when the TO posts are banned would still be kings of the hill or not when the TO posts are unbanned. (E.g. would Kush still be higher than Kamen or would Kamen leap over him.)
I kinda like Kuno's policy since it demotivates spam-happy youth from spamming just to get to the front page of the post count list. But it's an obvious elephant in the room that our community's post count page doesn't accurately reflect the true total post count for any member who has even once posted in a TO. (Or Social! *shakes fist at Mafia and Hangman*) Oh well. Doesn't matter. Post counts are cute fun but silly and ultimately worthless.

I mean, the posts counter doesn't really mean too much at UPN anyway. ASB battles and stuff can get just as spammy. As far as I know TO posts not being counted is just a holdover of larger forums where post counts being an e-peen is an actual problem, like Serebii.

On a side note - how does one become champion of Wild Future? I assume one does not simply collect all the badges, yes? |

>TO post counts
Pretty sure less than half my posts actually count. In fairness the vast majority of TO posts are one or two line drivel. On another amusing note, I can't view ~1/3 of my own posts any more because they're in the LO subforum and I had Kuno take my mod access ages ago. (It has its own LO TO but that actually counts towards post counts).

So to comment on this, I'm going to bring back the old argument from BMG. Let me dust it off because it's 14 years old now. Visible post counts and big awards are detrimental to boards that don't have a lot of activity, especially for younger users. For lurkers, they see the registered dates, awards and large post counts and feel like it would be hard to enter the community that is firmly established. For veterans it's less of an issue, but try to put yourself in the shoes of an 11 year old. When I was 13, on BMG, post count mattered a lot. It was an easy way to associate intelligence, influence, swagger, whatever, because it was too hard to read long, complicated posts and smarter/older users might be too condescending. For young posters, they don't know what a "spammer" is yet and might make mistakes in judging topic/discussion appropriateness. We have even have a recent example here on UPN. This is why on SBNation blogs, all this information is hidden in the user profile. It's to encourage people to register and jump in the discussion without fear of cliques socially intimidating them. I'd like to argue that it's been harder for me to make a comeback in PASBL because, when I first tried (2010) the league had only fairly recently restarted, but as of 2014 there were too many powerful players with a lot of skill and experience, so it is intimidating to go in knowing someone is playing down to your level. It's weird, but I care about my post count only so much as because I used to care about my post count, so it's interesting to see how far I've come in spite of not caring anymore. It's like having an obsession over push-ups in middle school, as the one exercise you couldn't do, and after 10 years of weight lifting doing push-ups just because of how you used to feel about them.
