New topic!
When designing characters, what part do you find the most difficult? Myself, for humans at least, hair is my bane (seems to be a family trait). |

I can't really draw period still, but hair is definitely a huge barrier for me to being able to draw the sorts of faces I want to be able to draw. I think eyes are the most important but I feel I've made some sort of marginal progress on them. Hair still eludes me though.

Proportions.
Doesn't matter what part of the human body you're drawing, if the proportions are out of wack, things will look wrong. And I hate chibi's. |

Heads up, I heard recently that Monoprice tablets are really good and I mean really fucking good so if you don't want to sell your soul for an Intuos, this one looks great and it's only fifty bucks.

It's okay, Copy. You alerted one in-the-dark person to the existence of Monoprice tablets, so we can be dumb bakas together.

Okay, the topic of "Who doesn't read Loki's posts" is getting old.
What artist/writer inspired you to start? What artists/writers do you still look up to? |

Don't do this.
In case you're confused by the image -- I was too at first -- here's what it's showing you:
Granted, this was for a wallpaper. Also, there's arguably a fun market for taking things from the real world and anime-ifying them. But you have to be upfront about it. And that this artist definitely was not. However, there are some NSFW samples from the actual manga (NOT a wallpaper) which show that he's done similar things for the actual commercial product too.

Of course, there's a lot more artists I look up to now, like PEQUEDARK-VELVET (Though I can never spell his name) and PK. |

Growing up in the 90s, comics were some of the biggest influences. Jim Lee in particular, who worked on great stuff like X-Men. Nowadays, I find myself look at works from Stjephan Sejic, Sana Takeda, Clayton Crain who all do beautiful digital artwork for today's comic industry, but also Steve Argyle and Jason Chan, who do great works in books and gaming. |

"503 Service Temporarily Unavailable"
WELP I QUIT THANKS FOR PLAYING DAISY (In actual seriousness, having refreshed the page and solved that problem... gonna look at more of the comics there. Liked what I saw.) Semi-related: There's a thread on ConceptArt detailing one member's journey from complete beginner to darn good painter. Worth a look. (If you don't want to go through ~70 pages of thread, just hit every tenth page or so and you'll notice the improvement. Or just look at this comparison post if you want the really abridged version.)

External monolog: HOLY SHIT! Yeah, that just happened. He went from like 5th grade art student who the other 5th graders congratulate for being so talented but who we adults are like "This is kinda shit ^^;" ... to like a goddamn Rembrandt painting still-life oils on canvas.

So...yeah >.> <.< *Blaze flees with Run Away!*
I am a horrible writer. But no, I am trying to write a story for my Nuzlocke because streams are not exactly working out and I like to write. While I could be doing more productive things, why should I??? I kinda want my Nuzlocke fanfic not just to focus on the ideas of the Nuzlocke, but parts of the daily life for the team, like eating a restaurant or a moonlit conversation. The cool stuff like that which can make a character seem real. So, yeah, I suck.

Blaze, I'm rooting for ya.
Though I can't convince myself to actually find the time to write. Double standard, much? |

I found a post about this nifty little thing called ZenWriter on Tumblr and I thought it might be interesting to the writers of UPN (especially those NaNoWriMo'ers)
The Tumblr post describes it quite nicely and here's the link to the download if you so choose to check it out! |
