(Note- for the sake of continuity, George will be treated as though he was a Malamar when first sent out in this storyline, as the zone adventure in which he evolved is a continuation of the one in which Terri obtained Vanish.)

"It's your call," nodded Terri. "Zoom's really got a good heart, though- she's just been given lots of reasons over the years to distrust humans." Terri gave a small, sad sigh at this, which Laugh took as her cue to let go of Terri's hand and instead put an arm around her shoulder.

Keith, meanwhile, looked happy to be reunited with George, as well as happy about George having evolved since they last saw each other. It was clear to him that Terri was a very good Trainer for George.

"Oooh, they're beautiful," Pomona smiled as she saw the flowers Julia had picked. In one of her vines, she too clutched a bouquet of flowers.

~~~
"Same," nodded Manchin. "So, hey, long as you're here, how about I show you around?" he asked, gesturing to the wide open Shadow Clearing.
~~~

"Ooh, something cool must've happened!" grinned Eon.

As you make your way through the forest path, you feel a sudden chill,
Your instincts scream to turn and run- but of course, you never will.
Ominous clouds as black as pitch, swirling overhead,
The flash of lightning, the rumble of thunder, it all fills you with dread.
And yet not a drop of rain will fall as you hear the Jigglypuff croon,
An unseen pack of Fairy-types, all singing an ominous tune.
The sudden flutter of Crobat wings, a Gengar's creepy cackle,
You start to wonder if this adventure is more than you can tackle.
The Shadow Clearing comes into view, but you're not reassured,
By the Murkrow simply staring at you, not cawing a single word.
The Pokémon Center stands nearby, but the sounds from within cause fright,
Demonic laughter and terrified screams all echo in the night.
A wooden ship tied to the dock, white fog obscures the deck,
And figures in the fog imply they've sailed straight out of heck.
A tall, impressive lighthouse stands ominously off to the side,
Seemingly normal, concealing the utter madness lurking inside.
And the large, imposing mansion, standing tall above the rest,
As far as Halloween scares go, this place provides the best.
Welcome, trick-or-treaters, to the haunted Spirit World Coast,
What'd you expect when the owner of the place is one-quarter ghost?

Missingno. Master's Morbid, Macabre Madhouse o' Mayhem!

Halloween night. A time of year tailor-made for those who enjoy a good scare, a buttload of candy, or hell, even both. And those that wanted both would find the Sludge Wave Coast- excuse me, the Spirit World Coast- to be the place to be tonight. It was Keith Masters's first Halloween since rebuilding his Secret Base on this property, and he was bound and determined to make it a really good one. And not only had he gotten his Pokémon in on the fun, but he'd called upon two Trainers he'd befriended in recent months to assist him- Gavin Golurkson, a foulmouthed yet good-hearted Shiny hunter from the Orre region; and Terri Alph, a mysterious, young, yet undeniably skilled Trainer whose hometown was the Ruins of Alph in Johto.

As you arrive, you are greeted by the owner himself, decked out in his Halloween finest. Keith Masters was dressed in an amusing-looking Weezing costume, with the larger Weezing head being a large helmet that went over his actual head, and he was dressed entirely in yellow- more specifically, the same pale shade of yellow one sees in a Weezing's poisonous gases. And as for the smaller head... well, there was a reason the Meowth on Keith's shoulder, for once in his life, looked decidedly displeased to be there- the smaller Weezing head was also a helmet, and this one went over Meowth's head. The Normal-type was wearing a custom-made purple jumpsuit, his body acting as the little thing underneath a Weezing's heads that would connect the two heads were they not normally attached directly to each other. In Keith's opinion, Meowth's lack of amusement worked quite well- his displeased look was strikingly similar to the default facial expression of the average Weezing's smaller head.

"Welcome, welcome, to Spirit World Coast," Keith says to you, managing to sound both welcoming and vaguely ominous. "The Rare Candy you seek is right in the living room of my humble abode. Sounds simple, right? Heh... no, no, no," he smirked. "You're gonna have to get there first. Every door in my mansion is locked tight, and not every key is available to you. You can only get three of the keys you'll need, but don't worry- three is all you'll need. Now, here's the thing... you'll need to get to those keys first," he chuckled.

"Weezing weez," Meowth adds, rolling his eyes.

"The Front Door Key is in the back room of... the Pokémon Center of Terror. The usual Banette isn't on duty tonight. Helena's taken the night off, and Myrtle's taking her shift. She delights in feeding on the terror of her enemies, on the suffering of others, and believe you me, tonight, she's hungry. You could see anything in there, up to and including your worst nightmares."

"The Library Key is in the captain's cabin on board... the S. S. Bloodbath. You have to cross the foggy, haunted deck to get where you need to go, and once you're down below, you're not safe yet- something might be lurking down there, trying to trap a late-night snack. And he's not all that picky..."

"Finally, you'll need the East Wing Key, which can be found on the top floor of... the Loony Loopy Lighthouse. In there, anything is possible. The laws of physics become more like guidelines than actual rules, and that's not to mention the creepy Pokémon lurking around, waiting to prey on the disoriented..."

"Finally, once you have all three keys, you can begin your trek through... the Petrifying Palace. Just remember these four things- Don't become anyone's meal; don't force any doors open; don't take more than one Rare Candy; and above all... don't let the Dusknoir catch you. After you've gotten your Rare Candy, you will be granted a quick and easy exit."

"Now... should you wish to be on the other side of the frights here, you're welcome to participate in The Fright Extravaganza. This is where you and your Pokémon can do as I've done here, and put your creativity to the test, come up with your best combination of moves to scare the crap out of the judges. This will take place in my Battle Room, which is large, sturdy, and spacious enough to easily accommodate an all-Steelix triple battle, so don't feel like you need to hold back just because it's indoors. Be creative. Mega Evolve. Use Z-Moves. Bring some props to use, costumes, whatever you think it's gonna take. If you choose to participate in this, there's a positively frightful goody bag in it for you, containing all sorts of delightful Halloween goodies."

With the rules laid out for you, the knowledge of the horrors you'll face in pursuit of another addition to your ever-growing Halloween stash, and the option of being able to dish out some scariness yourself, what will you do?

NOTES:

  1. I will only be doing one update post for this at the very end, so you are free to RP your character experiencing the various locales. You are not required to RP it, of course- if you don't have the time, or else just plain don't want to, that's perfectly understandable- but I do personally encourage RPing it if you're able to.
  2. Those participating in the Fright Extravaganza can only do so with one Pokémon, but creative loopholes around that are acceptable- such as entering with a Mantine and having the Remoraid on its wing contributing to your performance in some way, or an Exeggcute cluster splitting up and each egg doing its own thing, or something similar with a Binacle or Barbaracle- whatever you can think of. Be creative. And by all means, if you want to use your performance as a means to evolve your Pokémon, go for it. That'd be awesome.
  3. I kinda hate to do this, but for the sake of simplicity, I would prefer if nobody responds to any currently ongoing storylines in my Secret Base until this event has reached its conclusion. If you are in a position where you have some sort of sudden inspiration for a post, and you're afraid you'll forget it if you don't get it down right away, you can always save it in a Word document, or, if you generally post from a phone, you can PM it to yourself.
  4. Sludge Wave- er, Spirit World Coast, will be representing the types Poison, Ghost, and Ice.

Odysseus floats into the Pokemon Center of Terrors, in pursuit of the first key. Despite the terrible vision of his worst nightmare, his library burning to the ground, he manages to find the key.....

Odysseus hovers along the deck of the S.S Bloodbath, his analytic eyes searching for the door. Heading down below, he feels like something is watching him, but quickly manages to grab the key before teleporting out.

Odysseus rises up to the top floor of the Loony Loopy Lighthouse. The journey to the top proves difficult, the strange nature of the Lighthouse effecting his magnetic propulsion. He eventually reaches the top and claims the key.

Odysseus zooms through the Petrifying Palace. He wanted to get out of here fast, but he needed to get what he came for. Eventually he locates the stash of candies, it would be so easy for him to take them all. Only one was for him however and something told him that taking more would lead to a terrifying end. One, he would just take one.....

”Why I’m charmed to meet you, Mr. Keith Masters. May I say, I thought I had seen the best but clearly, I have saved the most ambitious for last. As for why I know your name, well, you are the talk of the region, after all. That’s beside the point, however, I should probably give you my own name. For now, I’ll allow you to call me Mircalla. We will probably meet once again, but for now, I shall brave the worst of your attraction. Fair warning though, I don’t spook easily, Mr. Masters. It might be some of your own who end up more frightened.” Mircalla walked forward confidently, with Scylla trailing timidly behind. This was the last attraction and the one that seemed to have to most potential for Mircalla. She turned to Scylla, and smiled. “Before we begin, I hesitate to say this, but there might be times in which you will have to retreat to your Pokeball. In particular, if they are being honest about my worst nightmares…” Mircalla paused for a moment, before pulling out her umbrella. She didn’t open it but simply kept it at her side. “We might need to defend ourselves, after all! What fun would it be if our lives weren’t in mortal peril!” Scylla looked thoroughly unamused. Her trainer was like this all the time, completely strange and lacking a certain amount of common sense.

Pokemon Center of Terror

“Hmmm, it definitely looks creepy. But I’m not seeing anything truly scary. Shall we continue, Scylla? Our objective is just in the back room, nothing more than a hallway away.” It was then that Mircalla heard a groaning noise, and looked behind her to see a nurse, whose flesh was rotting away under her body. “Ahh, the zombie nurse. Surely she wants to eat your cute little brains, Scylla, but don’t worry, you’re safe with me!” Mircalla held the shivering Scylla close, calming her down as the zombie nurse shuffled towards them. Quickly, Mircalla tripped her with her feet and brought down her umbrella on the nurse’s head, the metal spike easily impaling her and causing the nurse to stop moving. She plucked the umbrella out, a little annoyed at the fact that there seemed to be actual blood and brains on her umbrella. “Mr. Masters, I’ll be sending you the cleaning bill once we’re done.” She walked forwards, listening to the ghosts get closer and closer to her, wailing about dragging her to the Distortion World. “Oh, what fun! I’ve always wanted a vacation somewhere where the laws of physics worked differently! Well, not too differently, sometimes your body can be blown to pieces. Poor Uncle…” The ghosts stopped and disappeared, and it seemed that the illusions were starting to flicker and waver. “Hmmm, I think Mr. Masters said it was a...Turtle? No, Myrtle. She’s taking charge tonight. Well, that being said, please try a little harder~” Suddenly the Center changed as she felt her boots squish against the floor. It looked alive as if made out of living flesh, and she groaned a bit. The worst bit was the little holes she was making with her heels, causing little streams of blood to spurt out. “How gross,” Mircalla said before she realized that there was something behind them. She turned around, seeing a massive, lurking figure, and she smiled, a wave of terror washing over her. “Don’t open your eyes, Myrtle, ~” Mircalla whispered as she suddenly ran forwards down the hallway, trying her best not to trip over exposed veins. The beast shuffled behind her, and while she was sure this was only an illusion, she didn’t want to take any chances. She ran into the backroom, and grabbed the key, causing the illusion to vanish. “Phew, that was tough!” She looked down and saw that Scylla had passed out, and hoped a little bit that she would forget this experience. As she walked out of the Center, she turned around, hoping the Banette could hear her. “You wonder why I’m not afraid of the Distortion World, child.”

S. S. Bloodbath

“Well, its a little on the nose for a name, but I can’t help but feel charmed a little bit.” Scylla seemed to be a little better, although she wasn’t quite sure why exactly she had passed out earlier. Walking onto the deck, it was clear that it was meant to be spooky, although Mircalla wasn’t too worried. She looked around and saw out of the corner of her eye a Froslass moving about, and she did feel quite chilly come to think of it. “I should have brought something warmer to wear...oh well. Let’s go down into the bowels of the ship, shall we?” As they descended into the ship, she saw that they were going to have to navigate through a venerable maze of cobwebs. She kicked a rock into one of them to see how sturdy they were and was surprised to see it stick in the webs. “These are not cobwebs, huh? Where is the itsy-bitsy spider then~?” The duo walked forward, and Scylla was at least pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t overtly creepy as long as you paid attention. They soon made it to the Captain’s cabin and opened the door.

“Hmm, this is awkward.” Mircalla looked around and saw that the webs were particularly thick here and that there wasn’t a single gap she could hope to squeeze through without potentially getting stuck. But she was worried that if she sent Scylla through some of the gaps, she would end up being attacked before she would be able to reach the key. She had to think of a plan about how to make sure Scylla would be able to proceed. “Now how do spider webs work again? I think some of the threads are sticky and some of them aren’t...I’m not exactly sure though. Mulling through her purse, she pulled out a pair of cheap leather gloves that she had found and put them on. She had an idea. “Scylla, I’m going to need you to be very brave. I’m going to do something dangerous again, but you have to grab the key when I give you the signal.” Scylla nodded, and Mircalla put her gloves on, reaching over to one of the spider webs, and delicately placed her hands on so that they would stick to the web, before pulling on it a couple of times. “Dinner is ready.” She pulled on it a couple more times before she saw the culprit of the webs finally. An Ariados stared down at her as she grinned; she had its attention. Scylla moved deftly through the holes in the web as Aragog bore down on Mircalla, who confidently repeated, “Eat me~ Eat me~”. Scylla finally grabbed the key and worked her way back through just as it seemed that Aragog would be able to bite Mircalla, before she deftly removed her hands from the gloves and walked away, leaving the Ariados to bite through crappy leather gloves.

Loony Loopy Lighthouse

Walking into the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, Mircalla suddenly felt really woozy, as she definitely felt that things were different in this space. She tried to keep her bearings, but fell to the floor, holding her head. She really wasn’t good with this kind of stuff, and her Inkay watched her, not as bothered by the effects of the lighthouse due to being an Inkay. Mircalla looked at the Inkay and smiled, causing the Scylla to suddenly shudder. “Can you go on ahead of me? I know you aren’t good by yourself, but I trust you can go through this better than I can. I don’t want to vomit, that would be unsightly. I’m sure you can do it Scylla, you’re a good little thief.” Scylla didn’t know how to feel about being called that, but nodded and started to move up the lighthouse as Mircalla hung out on the bottom floor, crawling towards the entrance, trying to go as quickly as she can because if she didn’t she would lurch forward and almost surely vomit. Sure enough, Scylla came down with the key, although she was notably frightened. “Something happen, Scylla?” she asked, but Scylla didn’t answer, and just gave her the key, and Mircalla was glad to finally be out of this place.

Petrifying Palace

With the three keys in hand, Mircalla confidently walked up to the final obstacle to her adventure. There was going to be a roundabout way to get through, but she was confident she could do it. She first opened the front door, and immediately started to move towards the second floor. She had to be on the lookout for the two Dusknoir that were surely roaming the halls. They wouldn’t be a major issue as they would only force her to start her journey again, but it was the annoyance factor that made her not want to get caught. She walked up the stairs, keeping an eye out and unlocked the upstairs corridor, walking toward the library. She felt a cold chill down her spine, but looking back, she didn’t see anything following her. She laughed, this was definitely getting to her. She hadn’t been this scared in ages. She opened the library, remembering something about a particular resident. She had a plan in mind of course, and she couldn’t be exactly sure it would work, but she hoped that it would. As she walked in, she grabbed a few things from her purse: What looked to be a bottle of wine and a notepad. Mircalla quickly wrote down something and opened the bottle, leaving it on the table.

Maybe one day we can meet up and discuss our tastes a little more thoroughly if you aren’t just a cosplayer! - Mircalla

Feeling safe, she quickly found the secret switch, she was a connoisseur of secret switches after all, and found herself teleported into the kitchen. She took a deep breath, noting that something really yummy was cooking, but as she walked, she wondered if it was just too easy; there didn’t seem to be anything keeping her from having a taste. Mircalla walked forwards, before realizing her blunder, as suddenly she found herself stuck in a particular sticky spider web, cursing that she fell for it. “God damn it, I was really looking forward to having some actually good beef heart for once. Ugh, why is this stuff so sticky, I can barely move.” She tried to cut it up with her umbrella, and while she was strong enough to get some of the webbings off of her, much of it ended up on her umbrella and her dress, making it difficult for her to move. “Mr. Masters. The financial responsibility you will have at the end of this will be the truly scary thing.” Scylla pulled her out of the trap, keeping a close eye on the Pokemon making the food as the duo walked forwards, teleporting themselves to the dining hall.

“Oh no,” Mircalla said as she saw the ravenous Pokemon waiting for them. They all looked tough, but especially the Seviper that was eyeing them down. “Come on, having a superboss like that at the end isn’t fair!” Mircalla shouted, as she immediately booked it, feeling them hot on her heels. Scylla panicked and flew ahead of Mircalla, as she saw the doorframe and the door she needed to unlock. Wielding her umbrella, she swung at the Pokemon as she handed the key to Scylla, who with some difficulty unlocked and opened the door. Opening the umbrella and jamming it in the doorframe as she walked forwards, hoping that it would buy them some time, she walked forwards into the living room before feeling that chill down her spine once again. She turned around and saw one of the Dusknoir reaching out towards her, telling her with no words that this will be the end and she will have to start at the very beginning. Scylla, however, seemed to have a moment of bravery and leaped at the Dusknoir, trying to Constrict its face and keep it from seeing her trainer. Mircalla didn’t know how well that would work, especially considering she felt that this Dusknoir was pretty powerful, just as powerful as that Seviper, but she moved forward and was eventually able to grab her candy, suddenly being teleported back to the start.

“Well, that was great fun, Mr. Masters. I think next year I’ll have to one-up you! Maybe I should bring in some actual demons. Eldritch monsters too, like the cute little doggy ones that’ll eat your face, and of course, Scylla and I will be the main attraction.” She bowed to Keith, before realizing that Scylla still hadn’t come out yet. “Oh, Scylla...please don’t tell me you’re going to try and take more candy…”

”For god’s sake, Keith,” Hugo said, looking at the list of requirements. “You’re nothing if you’re not thorough but I mean come on! This is going to take me the whole damn day! There’s no way in hell that I can complete this myself. But…I know someone who can.”

Hugo called out Scizor. The Pincer Pokemon stretched its metal limbs, clearly looking to get some exercise.

“Okay, Scizor, here’s what we need to do. First you need to start at the Pokemon Center of Terror, and what happens there is…”

TWO HOURS LATER

“..try to avoid the Dusknoir and dip out of the Petrifying Palance with the Rare Candy. Got it?

Hello?”

Hugo looked to Scizor who had since fallen asleep.

“HEY WAKE UP!”

Startled, Scizor bolted into the air, making his way toward the Pokemon Center of Terror. He enters through the door, scanning for the key. But then the smell of smoke fills his…nostrils?...and he realizes the place is on fire! Panic begins to set in, but he half-remembers Hugo’s words about the nightmare-inducing quality of the center and he realizes this must just be a dream. Myrtle stands nearby laughing…until Scizor finds an actual fire extinguisher and begins spraying it wildly. To get him to stop, she hands him the key and tells him to get the hell out.

Next was the SS Bloodbath. Scizor could sense eyes on him, from somewhere, but fortunately his lightning speed allowed him to barrel through the fog and grab the key before the situation escalated.

The Loony Loopy Lighthouse threw Scizor for a loop. His speed was gone and he moved instead at a snail’s pace. Everything was turned upside down and he needed to get to the top. But if fast was slow, then heavy was light, right? Scizor was coated in Steel after all. His 275 lb frame now felt light as a feather, and rather than try to fight the Lighthouse, he instead stood motionless and slowly floated to the top where he grabbed the key.

Finally, he reached the petrifying palace. Using the three keys, he gently unlocked the door, which slowly swung open. Scizor stealthily entered the castle and caught site of the bowl of Rare Candies. He scooped one into his pincer and made his way to the exit.”

NOTES:

  1. I will only be doing one update post for this at the very end, so you are free to RP your character experiencing the various locales. You are not required to RP it, of course- if you don't have the time, or else just plain don't want to, that's perfectly understandable- but I do personally encourage RPing it if you're able to.
  3. Sludge Wave- er, Spirit World Coast, will be representing the types Poison, Ghost, and Ice.
After hearing everything from the trainer and the Meowth, Kinana was quite confident that none of the tricks would scare her, no matter what. Rather, it was the opposite, she assumed; with her father being part of this squad, they would be too scared to do anything to her for fear of retaliation from such a powerful Seviper, and she would have a free pass all the way to that Rare Candy! And even if they did try something, she had plans for each section. If that silly Banette from the Pokemon center tried some sort of face-themed jump scare, she would simply Glare right back at her, that would teach her! Whatever terror was in that ship, a simple Wrap would do to dispatch it; a good Haze would keep her safe as she traversed the lighthouse; and as for the mansion itself...well, she'll think of something when she gets there.

How exactly did I end up in this situation?...

She really had no idea, primarily because she had no recollection of ever making her way to Sludge Wave Coast in the first place. And yet, here she was.

Only one possible explanation. THE DEVIL...

Her Gengar was a frightening force indeed, a creature with two vastly different dispositions, each potentially catastrophic in its own way. Evidently, THE DEVIL had Hypnotized her into doing his bidding - it was the only possible explanation. Because never, of her own free will, would Althea Lynn join something as silly as Halloween celebrations!

But what can I do? He could drag me to the underworld on a whim. THE DEVIL is only one of the Pokémon I own that I do not truly control - he merely humours me with a semblance of obedience from time to time. I answer to him more than he answers to me...

It infuriated a woman as strong and determined as Althea to think that she was at the mercy of someone else. And yet, it was true: in attempting to put together a team powerful enough to conquer the Mythical Pokemon of this world, she had brought to her creatures of power well beyond her comprehension and control. THE DEVIL, JUDGMENT, THE WORLD... They could end her in the blink of an eye. But that was a risk she was willing to take, if it meant she could hold the power she craved so desperately.

"Well... I might as well see if I can turn this ridiculous situation into something profitable."

She ran a hand through her silver hair and assessed the situation. Up ahead, a man and a cat in a shared Weezing costume delivered a passionate speech about some sort of game rules, and the many spectators were eating it all up. Ugh, plebeians and their stupid holidays...

However disinterested Althea was though, THE DEVIL was very much looking forward to experience a human's views on terror. He was prepared to be underwhelmed, of course - he was terror. But whereas Althea was a prude egomaniac with no sense of fun, the Gengar knew not all humans were as mind-numbingly boring.

He could sense it - meticulously planned, creatures lurked in the shadows he called home, waiting to strike the unaware or unprepared. But THE DEVIL was darkness itself, he shared the same playground as Keith Masters' companions. He would bring the fight to them, if need be, and come out victorious.

Althea watched as THE DEVIL laughed and vanished from sight, dissolving into a mass of shadows which slithered along the ground towards the Secret Base. She shook her head - hopefully he wouldn't take too long. More importantly, she hoped he wouldn't cause too much damage. The last thing she wanted was to waste more time in the end apologizing to Weezing-Man...

"Now... should you wish to be on the other side of the frights here, you're welcome to participate in The Fright Extravaganza.

"Gotta hand it to Keith, he certainly isn't afraid to display his absurd degrees of dedication..." Ami muttered as she left the Pokemon Center of Horror, thoroughly shaken by the banette's role. Truly, those were creatures not to be underestimated. She understood two of the scenes Myrtle well enough- Madame Marsh and her magneton had left quite the impression (as did the damage they caused to Gloria), and the fact that her burns flared up slightly when the houndoom appeared was all the information she needed to figure out what was happening there. But was the deal with the vague image of a black and white creature, and why did it make her feel so bad? Something wasn't quite adding up, but she didn't have time to dwell on it too much- there was still the rest of the place to through, after all!

It seemed the ship's biggest threat was the dense fog at first, but that wasn't much of a problem. Between Amity's Gust and Nadie's Air Slash, the group was able to easily clear out enough vapor to look for the door without issue. It was no Defog, sure, but that was enough. Having two pokemon out added a little bit of security, especially since the swoobats' impressive array pf senses means that they should be able to find the second key quickly and potentially avoid this ravenous beast entirely! And if they weren't quite able to evade the creature entirely, well, Cassandra should be able to trap it in place long enough for them to escape.

The Loony Loopy Lighthouse was certainly a bizarre setup, tongue-twister naming scheme aside. At least, Ami hadn't expected to get so much lift off of her first step, nor had she intended to flip around as she did when the gravity shifted around her. Was that what happened? Was there something else at play? In any case, it was the difference in movement modes that tripped her up more than the bizarre positioning- the riding drills with Bell were just as good at training herself into being used to being sideways and upside-down as they were at getting the spider used to traversing steep paths with her added weight! Of course, the araquanid was currently playing his role back at the Cathedral, but she had an arguably better idea for circumventing confusion in this place: the looser gravity presumably meant that she wouldn't provide anywhere near as much strain on her swoobats as usual, and Nadie's Telekinesis was undoubtedly enough to pick up the slack! "Wonder if he expected to see anyone just fly through this part?" she wandered allowed, feeling a bit pleased with herself.

Until she reached the Petrifying Palace, anyway. "Uh, guys? I think we may be a little, um, outmatched this time..." This time around, it seemed that a incredibly significant chunk of Keith's team was taking on a more actively antagonistic role, and the girl knew all too well that she didn't stand much of a chance against them, Z-Move or otherwise. "Alright, then. On the count of three, we all make a break for it. One...

Two...

...Now!"

~ ~ ~

Elsewhere...

The sound of an eerie flute floats into judging chamber, its unnerving sound twisting a once-soothing melody into the audible incarnation of dread. The source, an imp wearing a tokin-topped crow mask, dances into the chamber, its wild steps keeping in surprisingly perfect time with its song.

The creature suddenly spins dramatically approximately a steelix-length into the hall, scattering leaves all around it and upping the tempo of its performance. One by one, the leaves land and give rise to shadowy entities that quickly take their place in their creator's march.

The massive tsuchigumo takes up the place right behind the would-be tengu, the chitin on its long legs covered in menacing, war-ready spines. Upon its abdomen, a sort of portable pagoda is erected, complete with a bell that occasionally rings as the fiend moves.

Not far behind is the futakuchi-onna, bearing a nobori banner emblazoned with the image of a Dark Ball strapped to her back. Her devilish jaws are curled toward the front of her body, carrying a shime-daiko drum to add a bassline to the song, and up the increasing franticness of the piece.

A kitsune dressed in the garb of an onmyoji takes up the third slot, with a pouch of complimentary evil-sealing talismans hanging off its neck. It quickly becomes clear, however, that the fox spirit had no intention of actually using them- rather, it frequently grabbed a couple, froze them solid, then through them in the air to explode in burst of befouled energy. Was it, perhaps, trying to immunize its fellows to the adverse effects such tools would present to them?

Lastly, a young hakutaku with a small koinobori windsock tied to its horn weaves its way in between them all, the dark-colored ribbons attached to the dragon head that had been fastened to its back streaming behind it like a winding serpent drawing menacingly towards its prey.

As the scene proceeded, the music came closer and closer to a bonafide crescendo. Soon the hakutaku lunged at the imp, only to disappear into its creator. Indeed, it seemed as if the leader had absorbed the beast and increased in size! The kitsune followed suite, as did the tsuchigumo, and the imp increased further in size with each thusly assimilated spirit. At last, the song came to its long awaited end, and the flutist kneeled and offered its hand to the faithful futakuchi-onna. There was a brief pause, as if the shadow was considering to use this opportunity to break free of its master's hold, but ultimately relented.

As soon as the final demon was absorbed, the harsh cerulean glow of unholy power swiftly enveloped the imp, instantly dashing away any sense of security the lack of music may have instilled. As the energy continued to mount, so too did the creature's devious laughter- with the ritual complete, no more would they be mocked as some minor yokai of the woods! The brilliance was utterly blinding, but it soon disappeared.

As did the demon, it would seems. This land was safe! But judging from the miscreant's vile cackling that still echoed throughout the chamber, it had every intention to use its newfound might to wreak havoc upon some other poor sap. What would the neighbors think of you if they found out that you didn't stop the beast while you had the chance?

(OOC: The Fright Extravaganza entry is Glimmerwood using Razor Leaf, Beat Up (with Bell, Louise, Sneachd, and Prolego as her teammates, introduced to the scene in that order), Growth, Sky Attack, and one of nuzleaf's 'Dex entries. You never gave a move limit and said to get creative, so here's a mini-Night Parade of 100 Demons!)

Alright, let's get this show on the road! I will, of course, still update anyone who posts between now and the event deadline, so don't think you missed out by not posting by this point.

TheKnightsFury: With no Trainer to accompany him, Odysseus the Magneton ventures forth, first into the Pokémon Center of Terror. At first, all seems OK... until a TV mounted on the wall flickers to life, in the midst of a disturbingly convincing TV news report, featuring even more disturbingly convincing footage of Odysseus's library burning to the ground! An ominous cackle resounds in response to the Electric/Steel-type's reaction, but Odysseus braves the terrors that Myrtle's illusions show him, and soon, the Front Door Key is in his magnetic clutches.

Following this, the Magneton floats across the deck of the S. S. Bloodbath, powering through a frigid and ominous Mist that seemed to be everywhere. Creepy grins, red eyes, they seem to show up from every direction, and even when there were no eyes visible, it always seemed as though somebody was watching... And the same held true down below. Even though Magneton was by no means the ideal snack for an Ariados, Aragog did not let this impede his role in all this, made sure to keep things good and ominous, right up until the Magneton had obtained the Library Key.

The Loony Loopy Lighthouse was downright crazy. Up was down. Left was right. Not very effective was super effective. Slow was fast. And every so often, a Shedinja seemed to come from out of nowhere, seemingly Sneaking all over by way of the Shadows, and just stared, so creepily, while discreetly employing Telekinesis to make objects move that by all rights shouldn't be moving, add to the overall atmosphere of strangeness. But in spite of all this, Odysseus managed to activate the switch to open up the stairway to the second floor. Not only that, he managed to get up to the second floor, and secure the East Wing Key.

This left the craziest challenge of all- using those keys to navigate the Petrifying Palace. Hovering down the hall was pretty straightforward, right up until a Dusknoir rose up out of the floor in front of Odysseus. Arms outstretched, Liliana made to Bind the Magneton and drag him back to the entrance, but between still being a Magneton as opposed to the slower Magnezone, and a strong desire to get out as fast as possible, Odysseus was able to evade Liliana's grasp and make it to the library. Once again, his nature as a Steel-type meant that he'd be in even less danger from certain predatory Bug-types than others, but once again, Fatale didn't let this deter her. With her pride as the vampire of Cadaver Forest at stake, the Shiny Beautifly kept up the pressure, intent on inducing enough fear to feed a Misdreavus for a week. The Magneton lucked out upon reaching the Battle Room- nobody was performing for the Fright Extravaganza just yet, so nothing in there was trying to scare him. Of course, the judges were there, and as one of them included a dark grey Scolipede with piercing red eyes, one could argue that they didn't need to try- Salazar proved an imposing presence from the very start.

Taking the warp panel to the kitchen, this was the first time Odysseus might have had legitimate concerns over the possibility of ending up someone else's dinner. A larger-than-average Weedle and a Slurpuff were working on something that smelled delicious that was being cooked in a huge pot, and being stirred by a big wooden spoon that seemed to move on its own. As this happened, Hermione and Cotton made no indication that they noticed Odysseus, but seemed to be deep in conversation about how they were all out of Durant corpses, and that maybe, just maybe, some deep-fried Magneton might make for an interesting substitute. Whether Odysseus stuck around to listen to the speculation on how the electricity would affect the flavor remained to be seen- the other warp panel was right before Odysseus, so he had no need to stick around any longer than the few seconds it took him to hover to it. Once in the dining room, he was faced with three hungry faces- those of a Carnivine, a Seviper, and a Druddigon. And as the Seviper mentioned as they saw Odysseus, they'd all tried eating Durant before and wound up enjoying them once they found out how to properly eat them, and this prompted the Carnivine to wonder if Magneton would make for a similar culinary experience. This prompted the trio to rise from their seats and slowly advance on Odysseus, though they did not follow him through the door that the East Wing Key unlocked, letting him into the living room. He'd made it! A young girl and her Medicham watched silently as the Magneton took a single Rare Candy, before aforementioned Medicham Teleported the Electric/Steel-type back outside. Keith smiled and nodded to the Magneton, wishing him a happy Halloween.

*Odysseus obtained a Rare Candy!*

Emi: Keith couldn't help but grin appreciatively as the woman who introduced herself as Mircalla seemed to like what she was seeing so far. It wasn't too surprising to Keith that she knew him already- Keith Masters knew full well he'd managed to make something of a name for himself in the Fizzytopia region. "Charmed to meet you as well, Mircalla," he said in response. He didn't seem daunted at all by her assertion that she didn't scare easily. Indeed, he looked quite pleased that everything he worked on would get to be put to such a challenge.

Mircalla and Scylla's first stop was the Pokémon Center of Terror, whereupon the woman proved remarkably adept at incapacitating a zombie nurse. Indeed, rather than afraid, at most she was annoyed that the fake zombie seemed to have left real blood and brains on her umbrella. Except not really- much later on, the illusory blood and brains would vanish, but for now, it would stay there. Myrtle was rather proud of herself for thinking of that little touch. But Myrtle was also somewhat annoyed, considering how hard it was proving to get any sort of fearful response out of this visitor. Ghosts wailing about dragging her to the Distortion World got Mircalla dreaming of a vacation where physics didn't work the same. And when the illusory ghosts vanished, Mircalla didn't seem too impressed.

"Try har-der?" Myrtle murmured to herself, zipper teeth twisted into an ominous smirk. "Chal-lenge ac-cep-ted, Mir-cal-la..."

The entire center changed right then and there, the floor suddenly changing, becoming quite ill-suited for high-heeled boots, to say the least. It was as though Mircalla was standing on living flesh, to the point where blood spurted out of the holes her heels were making. But that wasn't enough, no- a massive, hulking beast was pursuing her as well. This prompted Mircalla to break into a run, her smile unable to mask the wave of terror that washed over her. There was no masking that from Myrtle, and it was delicious! The Banette's sadistic, gleeful cackle echoed all around as she kept on distorting and messing with the environment, adding little touches that could be attributed to her past life as a Missingno., to her knowledge of the screwier and scarier aspects to the world, the glitches in the very fabric of reality. If Mircalla glanced at Scylla at any point, she wouldn't see her Inkay, but rather a disagreeable yet powerful-looking Bulbasaur, who would appear to explode gruesomely if given any instructions. A closer look at the charging beast would reveal it to look like a Charizard, except much bigger than what was normal for the species, and also not quite right somehow, as though it was a more sinister species of Pokémon taking on the appearance of a Charizard. And if Mircalla had a Trainer Card on her, or any form of ID that displayed her name, she would find that her name appeared to be replaced with an impossibly long line of Zs with the occasional random letter inserted.

And then, Mircalla grabbed the Front Door Key, and just like that, the illusions were broken. Her way out of the Center was quite unimpeded from this point, and Myrtle heard her parting words loud and clear. "I like her," the Banette remarked to nobody in particular.

The S. S. Bloodbath was their next destination. Crossing the deck of the ship, Mircalla's only real concern was that she wasn't dressed any warmer for this. The sight of the Froslass lurking in the Mist did nothing to unnerve the woman, and the source of said Mist saw this. The Cryogonal lurking up at the helm decided to rattle its ice crystal mustache, see if the sound could add to the ominous atmosphere. And if Mircalla neared the railing on the port side of the ship, she would witness the School Form Wishiwashi jumping out, disturbingly close to the ship. But in any case, Mircalla made it down below, where she discovered to her surprise that the cobwebs were not cobwebs, but rather sturdy Spider Webs. These made the hallway a veritable maze, but it was especially prevalent in the captain's cabin. Unseen by the visitors, Aragog watched as Mircalla donned a pair of cheap leather gloves, and stuck them deliberately to one of the webs, calling out the Ariados to eat her. Of course, Aragog wasn't going to eat her, but if she was going to make light of his contributions like this, he was going to try and put at least a little fear into her. He charged, giving this all the Agility he had while the Inkay went and grabbed the key. However, it was almost as though Mircalla had figured on Aragog being this fast, and she was able to take her hands out of the gloves just in time. Of course, Aragog didn't really bite through the gloves, but he still did get a taste of the crappy leather, and he hissed in disgust. He hoped Crabbe would come and clean this up later- it reminded him of that one time he felt movement on one of his webs a few weeks ago, only to find out, to his great disgust, that a wild Trumbeak had merely crapped on it.

With two keys down and one to go, Mircalla's next stop was the Loony Loopy Lighthouse. And she... fell down. For someone who didn't fear the Distortion World, she couldn't handle a little Malamar-made madness all that well. However, Scylla was faring quite a bit better, but then, being an Inkay, this was to be expected. The Inkay was the one to navigate the lighthouse, activate the switch, go up to the second floor, and she did all of that unimpeded. However, as she reached the East Wing Key, she was beaten to it- a Murkrow swooped down, clutching the shiny key in her talons as though to show who was the better Thief of the two. Want gave a derisive, mockulatory caw. Eyes flashing, and with the speed of a professional Prankster, the Murkrow let loose a Confuse Ray... but it failed. Scylla was able to yoink the key away from Want, leaving the Murkrow bewildered, having not been aware of the fact that Dark-types such as herself were immune to moves that had been augmented by Prankster. It was likely that Scylla was unaware of this herself, perhaps attributing the failed Confuse Ray to an impossible stroke of luck, or her good fortune in fleeing when she did. Anyhow, the Inkay was rattled by the experience, and both her and Mircalla seemed only too glad to leave the lighthouse.

Finally, the main attraction. The long walk down the entrance hall... nothing showed up. Was Mircalla starting out with a good stroke of luck, or was this a conscious choice of the residents, to build up some suspense? If it was the latter, it seemed to be working- once Mircalla reached the library, she felt a cold chill, and seemed compelled to make sure nothing was coming up behind her. Fatale let loose a sadistic chuckle- potential prey already so frightened? Beautiful. The Shiny Beautifly flitted about, keeping concealed, hoping to make some noise with her wings to further unnerve Mircalla. She was under strict orders to not actually drink anyone's blood, but by no means did this mean she was about to reassure the visitors with this fact. She was a bit surprised to see Mircalla produce a bottle from her purse, open it up, and leave it on the table along with a note. Once she'd found the secret switch and exited, Fatale approached what the woman had left. A note suggesting that their tastes were not so different, and a bottle of... wine? Or, no... if the note suggested what Fatale believed it to, then surely this was...? The Shiny Beautifly unfurled her mouth and cautiously dipped it into the bottle, intent on taking a sip of its contents...

Once Mircalla made it to the kitchen, she found herself drawn to the scent of the food Hermione and Cotton were cooking, only to find herself caught in a Sticky Web. As she cursed her having fallen for this, the Weedle and Slurpuff turned around to face their visitor, deranged grins on their faces as they slowly made their way closer to Mircalla. Cotton began to emanate an ominous Chill as he charged up a Shadowy attack, while Hermione's Horn-like head stinger began spinning like a Drill. Mircalla, however, was able to free herself from the Sticky Web and take the warp tile to the dining room. Once she was gone, Hermione and Cotton stopped charging their menacing attacks, and the Slurpuff instead set to work reapplying the Sticky Web.

In the dining room, however, Mircalla's adventure was far from over. Now she had a hungry Carnivine, Druddigon, and Seviper to contend with, and she did not feel like contending with them. Mircalla and her Inkay took off, making a mad dash for the door. In a nice display of teamwork, Mircalla passed the East Wing Key to Scylla, who was able to unlock the door, and they were able to get through with no trouble, Mircalla even blocking the doorway with her umbrella to try and buy them time. And then, there was another chill down her spine, this time with a visible cause- Peeves the Dusknoir was bearing down on them about to drag them back to the entrance and make them start all over again. But Scylla did not let this happen. Whether due to a sudden influx of bravery, or a desire to not have to go through that scary house a second time, the Inkay made to Constrict Peeves's face to impede his vision. Peeves, of course, wasn't bothered by this, but the close proximity of the Inkay did in fact impede his view, and Mircalla was able to move forward, evading the male Dusknoir's attempted Bind, and grab herself a Rare Candy. At that point, Observe the Medicham stepped forward, and Mircalla found herself back outside by way of Teleport.

"One-up me, huh?" grinned Keith. "I gotta say, I'd like to see that. He bowed back to Mircalla, before she'd noticed that her Inkay wasn't by her side. "Hoo, boy... I sure hope she's not," Keith remarked. "By the way, if you want a quick and easy way to get the rest of those webs off, I can ask my Crobat to use a light Defog- they'll slide right off."

Back in the house, any attempted Rare Candy heists by Scylla were forestalled by a strange mechanical voice sounding in her head, almost telepathically. ANALYSIS COMPLETE: INKAY, THE REVOLVING POKéMON. A DARK AND PSYCHIC-TYPE. FLASHES LIGHT-EMITTING SPOTS ON ITS BODY TO DRAIN ITS OPPONENT'S WILL TO FIGHT, AND TAKES THE OPPORTUNITY TO SCUTTLE AWAY AND HIDE. ERROR: NUMBER OF RARE CANDIES TAKEN BY INKAY AND HUMAN ALLY- ONE. NUMBER OF RARE CANDIES FURTHER OWED TO INKAY AND HUMAN ALLY- ZERO. NUMBER OF RARE CANDIES ATTEMPTED TO BE TAKEN BY INKAY EXCEEDS AMOUNT OWED. REQUESTING PERMISSION TO EXECUTE STANDARD THIEVERY PREVENTION PROTOCOL 93-649. ERROR- STANDARD THIEVERY PREVENTION PROTOCOL 93-649 INEFFECTIVE AGAINST THE DARK TYPE. EXECUTING BACKUP THIEVERY PREVENTION PROTOCOL 33: TACKLE ATTACK.

Having previously used Confusion to open a window during its mental mechanical monologue, a Bronzor zoomed forward, ramming into Scylla with the intention of pushing her out the open window, moreso than causing damage. And as this happened, Scylla would have heard another derisive, mocking caw from the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, almost as though Want had seen the whole thing and was further convinced that she was the superior thief of the two.

*Mircalla obtained a Rare Candy! Just the one! No more than one!*

King Ghidorah: Keith couldn't help but chuckle as Hugo proved quite vocal about the time his event would take. "Heh, what can I say? This place has so much potential for this kind of thing, I didn't want to squander any of it. Besides, it won't take you that long." Regardless, however, Hugo sent out a Scizor, and began to brief it on what it had to do. And this briefing was anything but brief. Keith found himself checking his PokéGear's clock once or twice as Hugo explained things, and was wholly unsurprised when the Scizor turned out to have fallen asleep at some point during his Trainer's explanations.

Keith turned to Hugo as Scizor bolted for the Pokémon Center. "...You might have actually been able to make it through the whole thing by this point," he pointed out.

Scizor's first impression of the Pokémon Center of Terror was... that the whole freaking place was on fire! Myrtle's ominous cackling echoed throughout the phony flames- the easiest ones to scare were the ones with quadruple weaknesses. Had she not been able to tell that that one Magneton's greatest fear was some library burning down, then her illusion of choice against it would have been that of a devastating earthquake. However, this quickly lost its macabre charm when Scizor reacted to the "fire" by grabbing a very real fire extinguisher and going crazy with it.

"Oh, for the love of Ar-ce-us, stop al-rea-dy!" Myrtle exclaimed, flying up to Scizor and throwing a Front Door Key in his face. "Just take the key and get out! Stu-pid stin-king Sci-zor be-ing all good in an e-mer-gen-cy and..." she trailed off, grumbling at the prospect of having to clean up the place and get the extinguisher refilled and things of that nature.

Oh, yes, Scizor felt eyes on him as he boarded the S. S. Bloodbath. And as he made his way across the deck, he didn't just feel them- he saw them, too. Big, red eyes, positioned right above a positively Gengaresque grin. Which made sense- this was, after all, the actual face of a Gengar. And he wasn't the only Ghost-type present, either- the Mist nearly thick enough to activate her Snow Cloak, Laugh the Froslass hovered nearby, and generated a Will-O-Wisp, causing three spectral fireballs to ominously circle the Scizor, while the Gengar cackled. "No fire extinguisher to save you here, hmm?" came the Gengar's voice, though the mouth the Scizor could see wasn't moving. The fireballs began to dive-bomb Scizor, though as he dodged them, they always topped short of igniting the deck. And they abandoned their pursuit as soon as he'd gotten below deck. Moving at such high speeds, it wouldn't be apparent until after he left whether he'd deftly evaded all the Spider Webs or outright powered through them. Regardless, he grabbed the Library Key and left without any further problems.

The Loony Loopy Lighthouse looked as though it might be problematic for Scizor. The blinding speed he'd relied on to get through so far was reduced to nothing in the Trick Room, and everything was all screwy. It looked as though it'd be a serious impediment to Scizor's progress, until he got the idea to use the screwiness to his advantage, instead of fighting against it. And it worked- in here, heavy was light, so now rising up was easy. Of course, he still had to get to the switch and press it to open the way to the staircase, but once he'd done that (and been confronted by a creepy Shedinja and mocking Murkrow in the process), he was able to get to the second floor with no problem and obtain the East Wing Key.

Finally, the Petrifying Palace. Unlock the front door, step inside, see the Rare Candies, grab one, and leave. If only it were that easy. None of the keys Scizor had acquired would work on the door that led from the entrance hall to the living room, and the door couldn't be forced open, no matter how hard he tried. Nothing to it but to go the long, long, long way around. And Scizor managed to be stealthy about it, avoiding the attention of Liliana as she popped into the entrance hall, and thereby not getting dragged back to the entrance by the Dusknoir. Likewise, he was not met with much trouble by Fatale in the Battle Room, though that didn't stop her from trying to intimidate the Scizor any way she could.

The first real instance of terror the Scizor would encounter was in the kitchen, where he was warmly greeted by Hermione and Cotton, and met with an explanation that they were all out of Durant for the Heatmor's dinner, and had just been on the hunt for an adequate substitute, with the clear indicator that the Bug/Steel-type that just arrived was decidedly more than adequate. As if to drive the point home, Cotton took the liberty of setting up a few extra Sticky Webs, though Scizor was able to find an opening to escape into the dining room. No Heatmor was in there, but the hungry predators in there did not seem picky. Fang in particular was actually salivating- Bug-types were a staple of his diet, and a big one had just wandered into his midst. But in the end, Scizor was able to evade them all and make it into the living room, where he grabbed a Rare Candy, and was subsequently Teleported back outside by the Medicham.

"-the gros-sest o-ver-re-ac-tion to my il-lu-sions I have ev-er seen, Meat Sack!" Myrtle was practically screaming into Keith's face as Scizor reappeared. "I am NOT clea-ning that up!"

"Hey, you made the place look like it was on fire for a well-trained Bug and Steel-type," Keith retorted to Myrtle. "What did you think was gonna happen?"

"I knew we should have put the fi-re ex-tin-guish-er a-way for the night," Myrtle grumbled.

"Yeah, no," Keith shook his head. "Fire safety is no joke-"

"Blah, blah, blah," interrupted Myrtle. "Yes, yes, your dad is a fi-re-fight-er, we have heard it alllll be-fore. Just get some-one to clean that crap up!" And she floated away in a huff, though not before shooting a menacing glare at Scizor.

"Sorry about her," Keith shrugged apologetically. "You made it through in pretty good time, though," he added to the Scizor, before turning to Hugo. "You've clearly trained yourself a skilled Pokémon," he added approvingly, before wishing them both a happy Halloween.

*Hugo obtained a Rare Candy!*

Gemini Spark: Keith was quite happy to see Kinana again, and explains the rules to her. By the end of it all, the young Seviper is confident she can navigate it all without a problem, relying on her father's intimidation to keep the others from making things too tricky for her.

"Oh, dey ain't really gonna hold back on her just cuz dey's scared o' Marv, are dey?" Meowth asked Keith once Kinana had slithered off toward the Pokémon Center of Terror.

"Oh, I don't think so," Keith smirked. "Kinana's going to learn sooner or later that her father's influence only stretches so far..."

Once inside the Pokémon Center, all seemed quiet. To Kinana it might seem as though her way of thinking was proving to be correct, but it all seemed a bit... too quiet. Like, ominously so. Indeed, the way across the lobby to the door leading to the back room was free and clear, but once she got to the door, a creepy cackle echoed throughout the building, not seeming to come from any one direction in particular, which would send a chill down the coils of even a fully-grown Seviper. For a moment, that seemed to be it, but once Kinana got the door opened, any hopes to that effect were swiftly dashed- beyond the doorway was absolutely nothing. A void of nothingness that no light source would be able to illuminate. And upon looking back into the Pokémon Center, Kinana would see that same void of nothingness all around her- her entire surroundings, seemingly transformed. The eerie silence from before was back, its eeriness almost certainly more pronounced. Any cries for help, any screaming for her parents, it would all go unheeded. But eventually, Kinana would see several... things in the distance. Two red dots, and one thin golden line. Very far off in the distance at first, but she'd soon realize they were closing in on her, by which time she'd see they were moving much faster as they closed in, leaving just enough time to identify them as a pair of Banette eyes above that eerie zipper grin, coming straight for Kinana-! And then, just before the creepily disembodied Banette face would be able to make contact, there was a Dazzling Gleam of light, and once it subsided, all was normal again, save for a reprise of that eerie cackle. albeit interrupted by what sounded by someone munching on a Cheri Berry. Had that Glare really worked?

Next up was the S. S. Bloodbath. The chilly Mist Kinana had to slither through would surely hinder her progress- Seviper weren't all that good with the cold, but surely she'd remember the stories her father would tell her at Christmastime, about a heroic Seviper who braved the cold and saved Christmas, and draw inspiration from them. But such inspiration would only do so much, especially when an eerie grin appeared out of nowhere, but with nothing else visible, let alone eyes of any kind, would a Glare even work? Any attempts at Wrap proved horribly futile, the reason becoming quickly apparent- the grin slowly faded away, only for the entire Gengar to suddenly become completely visible right before Kinana's eyes! Of course Wrap wouldn't work on a Ghost-type! A sudden splash, and Kinana would see, if she looked up, the formidable form of a School Form Wishiwashi jumping clear over the ship. As she made it down below, she could hear, behind her, the clanking and rattling of a Cryogonal's ice crystal mustache. Down below, her plan to Wrap anyone thinking of messing with her was looking less and less viable- the Spider Webs strung all over left precious little room to maneuver. If anything was thinking of making trouble, Kinana would surely get entangled in the webs just trying to use Wrap. In any case, no Ariados made itself visible, but for sure Kinana would hear creepy scuttling sounds, and if she turned in the direction from which she heard it, nothing would actually be there...

Third stop was the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, for which Kinana had perhaps the most flawed plan. Haze was a great way to reset any stat modifications, true enough, just... not so much effects such as Topsy-Turvy or Trick Room. Indeed, as she let out the black mist, it swirled harmlessly away from her, the dark clouds billowing larger and larger, taking shape as they did so, become gigantic Zangoose with deranged grins and overly long claws, gliding across the floor in pursuit of Kinana. And the faster she moved, the quicker the Haze-Zangoose seemed to catch up to her. But if she moved towards them, they seemed to get farther away. Either way, it wasn't that much longer before they vanished in harmless puffs of black smoke that would nevertheless make her think twice about trying to use Haze as a quick fix in this lighthouse again. And by that time, Kinana would surely realize she was somehow on the ceiling. It took her a while to get to the switch, get up to the second floor, and grab the key, what with the gravity changing on occasion, but she managed it. She did have to contend with a Shedinja barring her way at one point, completely unresponsive no matter what she did (barring, of course, any sort of super effective attack), just floating there, staring creepily at her, but in the end, she got all three keys.

Finally, Kinana had to go through the Petrifying Palace. She made it across the entrance hall before a Dusknoir caught up with her and took her back to the entrance. Any complaints on Kinana's part were met with Peeves's insistence that the days of Marvolo being able to intimidate him were long past. Following that, Kinana's way was not impeded any further until she made it to the second floor. This time it was Liliana who tried to bring the Seviper back to the entrance, but Kinana was able to evade this one. In the library, Fatale pulled out all the stops just as she would for anyone else, trying to scare the crap out of Kinana, and laughing sadistically whenever she seemed to succeed in this. Once Kinana got as far as the kitchen, she would hear the Weedle and Slurpuff talking loudly about all the Zangoose they needed to cook for tonight, and lamenting how they were one Seviper head short of what they needed for their signature stew. Only in the dining room was there any semblance of special treatment. The Seviper, Carnivine, and Druddigon all rose from their seats in response to their guest, but rather than hungry pursuit, they warmly greeted Kinana. Marvolo in particular hugged his daughter in his coils, and commended the bravery it took her to get this far, considering he was unable to intimidate everyone else into easing up on her. Some of the involved Pokémon, he added, weren't even on Keith's team, and he'd never had the chance to meet them in his life. But, considering the bravery Kinana had to have possessed to get that far, Marvolo couldn't be too upset about the situation- he was too proud of his daughter. Finally, once Kinana made it to the living room, she was greeted by Terri, and once she took a Rare Candy, Observe the Medicham Teleported her back outside, where Keith would be waiting to tell her what she might have already learned by that point- that relying on her parents wouldn't work for everything.

*Kinana obtained a Rare Candy!*

Maskerade: Althea's reluctant presence did not go unnoticed. Not by any means. Keith Masters and his Meowth took notice of her, standing apart from the others, clearly wanting no part of the holiday or any celebrations thereof. And yet, there she was, as though compelled, forced, to participate in that which she thought beneath her. And that which compelled her quickly became easy to guess, as a Gengar, laughing madly, dissolved into the shadows and made to participate in the festivities himself. Keith had a look of intrigue on his face. He had a feeling that scaring this Gengar wasn't gonna be easy, if it was even possible at all. But he also knew that if there was one thing Myrtle relished, it was a challenge.

The Pokémon Center of Terror was THE DEVIL's first stop. As the formidable Gengar entered, he would see the Center to be bustling, full of people going about their business. A room full of easy targets for those in the business of scaring, and likely more temptation than THE DEVIL would be able to resist. And yet, if the Gengar did in fact attempt to put the fear of Arceus- or perhaps the fear of Giratina- into any of these people, he would find their reactions to be shockingly lackluster. A lot of "Eh"s, "Meh"s, and "I've seen better"s, a lot of nonchalant shrugging, and even a bratty little kid telling him he looked stupid and spitting on him. Should this get him to redouble his efforts, he'd only be met with more of the same. A sign that maybe, just maybe, THE DEVIL was losing his touch?

As soon as this possibility might feasibly cross THE DEVIL's mind, everyone froze in place, as though the world was a DVD and someone had just paused it. Except, that is, for the ratty old doll that the bratty little kid was dragging along the floor. That doll came to life at once, hovering beside the Gengar with an unmistakable grin on her zipper lips. "You are a chal-lenge," Myrtle said, sounding quite delighted by this. "I could sense that right a-way. You... are not or-di-na-ry. Far from it. Spea-king as one who re-li-shes in the fla-vor of ter-ror, I have much re-spect. And so, I think it on-ly pru-dent that I show you the ful-lest ex-tent of what I can make you ex-pe-ri-ence. The things I have seen. The things I know. The glit-ches in re-a-li-ty it-self, that are all too real. Let me show you... my side of the world of Po-ké-mon." No sooner had Myrtle concluded this ominous statement than she produced a Poké Ball from seemingly nowhere. "Come for-ward, 'M," cackled Myrtle, throwing the ball.

In a flash of light, with a screech that sounded as though it belonged to nothing less than the legendary Zapdos, there appeared a hideously distorted Charizard, much larger than its species' norm. But what was a Charizard to ZZEZZEZZLZZ, right? Well, if ZZEZZEZZLZZ was to look at himself at this point, he might be in for a surprise- rather than his usual Gengar form, he would look like a Bulbasaur! And a hideously distorted one, at that, the body looking so choppy, so scrambled, he looked like he ought not be alive. And yet, there he was. Any effort to turn away from the heart-stoppingly freaky Charizard resulted in ending up facing it again somehow, and melting into shadows or flying above it somehow had ceased to be options. What was there to do but fight? And yet, if ZZEZZEZZLZZ tried to attack, not only would he find that three quarters of his move knowledge seemed to be replaced with an irrational and frankly scary urge to use Explosion, but also that any attempt to use a move resulted in all senses being suddenly and shockingly obscured. A dead silence meeting the ears, the body seeming to feel nothing, and the eyes beholding naught but a strangely eerie greyscale pinstripe pattern. After a moment, all senses resumed, and it seemed to go back to the beginning of this "battle", for lack of a better term. Eventually, ZZEZZEZZLZZ would spot a Poké Ball lying on the ground. Grabbing that and throwing it at this abomination of a Charizard seemed the only option, but once that was done, both ball and beast vanished completely. For that matter, the Poké Ball Myrtle sent it out of seemed to be gone as well.

With a snap of Myrtle's cloth fingers, the crowd in the Pokémon Center resumed moving about. "See how long you can last, ZZEZZEZZLZZ," she cackled, pronouncing the strange name in a way that almost sounded like electronic static- syllables no living being could hope to pronounce without leaving their tongues horribly disfigured. And yet, ZZEZZEZZLZZ found that that name... sounded right, almost, even though in the back of his mind he knew that it was not. As though his past, his very being, was being corrupted.

Moreover, Pokémon battles were breaking out all over the place. And in every instance, one Trainer was using a similarly hideously distorted and not-right-looking Charizard, while the other side had a choppy-looking, very powerful, and highly disobedient Bulbasaur. None of them were actually being referred to as Bulbasaur, either- one of the Trainers called out, "Scyther, use Slash!", only for his Bulbasaur to respond by using Explosion. And all the while, ZZEZZEZZLZZ got the horrible, nagging feeling that if he at any point just took a break and called it a day, he would cease to exist.

And then, as soon as that dreadful feeling made itself known in ZZEZZEZZLZZ's mind, there came that eerie greyscale pinstripe pattern obscuring all else, along with an earsplitting, booming voice, echoing, "THE SAVE FILE IS DESTROYED!" And then, in a brilliant blast of white light... everything went back to normal. The Pokémon Center was empty, THE DEVIL was THE DEVIL again, and Myrtle was right there, zipper grin right in place, handing him the Front Door Key.

Aboard the S. S. Bloodbath, THE DEVIL would find something of an easier time. The resident Gengar did his best to frighten THE DEVIL, but seemed unsurprised by his lack of results. This, however, only seemed to spur him to redouble his efforts, make full use of Confuse Ray and Night Shade to try and make him see horrible things and convince him that they were real and very much worth being scared of. Untold eldritch abominations intent on eating the ship and everyone aboard. Being boarded by invincible zombie pirates with legions of horribly powerful legendary and mythical Pokémon at their beck and call, one of them even riding into battle on the back of a Giratina, entering through a portal to the Distortion World that appeared out of nowhere. Chuck pulled out all the stops he could think of, but far from disappointed with the lackluster results, he seemed to have no small amount of admiration for his fellow Ghost/Poison-type. In stark comparison, Aragog's webs were woefully underwhelming, and the Library Key was retrieved with no trouble at all.

The Loony Loopy Lighthouse, on the other hand, proved to be a very strange experience indeed. As soon as THE DEVIL entered, he found himself floating in midair whether he entered that way or not. Looking down at himself, he'd see... nothing! No body whatsoever, be it Gengar, Bulbasaur, or otherwise. Maybe a wisp of purple gas, though... And that would clue him in- rather than the mighty and powerful Gengar, THE DEVIL was now a tiny and feeble Gastly, at the mercy of but the slightest breeze. Which a certain Murkrow was more than happy to provide. Want flapped her wings, blowing THE DEVIL around amid a flurry of down as she unleashed her Feather Dance with the speed and skill of a professional Prankster. And the more THE DEVIL resisted, the easier it was for Want to push him around. Any attempt to Teleport away would draw him nearer to the Murkrow, any attempt at a super effective move would fizzle out uselessly. Of course, THE DEVIL being not without considerable intelligence, would soon surely figure out the trick to this place. Teleporting with the intention of getting closer to Want would create great distance. Using a stupidly ineffective move would result in calamitous damage. Making no effort to resist the Feather Dance would result in the move losing its effectiveness. In fact, THE DEVIL would find that the move had been steadily increasing his Attack power. One Teleport later, with the intention of getting as far away from the East Wing Key as possible, and he would have his key, and upon exiting the lighthouse, he would find himself a Gengar once more.

Finally, the Petrifying Palace. Of course, THE DEVIL could just pass through the walls, get to the living room, and cut straight to the chase, but where would the fun be in that? The main attraction was right here, should he not explore it as intended, see all it had to offer? The first thing he was confronted with was the sudden appearance of one of the resident Dusknoir, up on the second floor corridor. He didn't make himself visible right away- no, THE DEVIL's first hint at his presence would be the Foresight he was hit with from behind, leaving him susceptible to Peeves's Bind, allowing the Dusknoir to drag the Gengar back to the entrance. No doubt THE DEVIL would put up a commendable fight, but so, it must be said, would Peeves. Then came the library. Fatale knew right away that this would not be one to fear such creatures as vampires. What blood did Gengar have to lose? But still, she did her best to unnerve THE DEVIL. Whether she was successful was another matter altogether. And as for getting through the kitchen and the dining room... well, those scares were likewise not intended to be too terribly effective against Ghost-types, but by no means did that stop the involved Pokémon. They just had to get a little bit creative. Liliana, who had been observing THE DEVIL as he moved through the house, teamed up with Hermione and Cotton. She didn't know quite as much about illusions as some of her other teammates, but by practicing with Peeves, she'd gotten quite good nonetheless. Therefore, when THE DEVIL entered the kitchen, she was able to make it look as though the Slurpuff was inhaling the Dusknoir, swallowing her whole as she struggled helplessly, begging and pleading for mercy. And then, Cotton turned on THE DEVIL, a look of deranged hunger on his face as Liliana created the illusion of an unnatural yellow gleam in the Fairy-type's eyes, and then further augmented Cotton's appearance in an illusory fashion, giving the impression of Cotton mutating into some kind of eldritch abomination, something not only capable of devouring even ghosts, but more than willing to do so. Meanwhile, the Weedle continued to use Psychic to stir whatever she was cooking, throwing her voice as best she could to make it sound as though ghostly wails were escaping the cooking pot. And Peeves, having seen this and gotten the picture, managed to convince the others in the dining room to play along to this effect, creating illusions to make THE DEVIL think that Cotton was the tame one of the bunch in comparison, as the Seviper declared in an unnatural, otherworldly voice that dinner seemed to have been served.

Finally, THE DEVIL made it to the living room. Upon accepting a Rare Candy, Observe the Medicham Teleported him outside, whether this was necessary or not, where Keith gave the Gengar a smirk. He fixed the Ghost/Poison-type with a surprisingly Mean Look, and spoke up in Shuppet language; "We hope to scare you again next year."

*THE DEVIL obtained a Rare Candy!*

Median Dia: Keith was happy to welcome Amicae to his Secret Base, and once he explained the rules to her, she was off. The Pokémon Center of Terror was her first stop, and by no means did Myrtle squander her opportunity to shine. Amicae departed the Pokémon Center, Front Door Key in hand, though it hadn't come easily- so brimming with unpleasant past experiences was she that Myrtle found it an easy manner to do her job this time. She was proud of how she'd saved the one Amicae couldn't actually remember for last- leave her not only rattled, but burning with uncertainty as to why that last one affected her so. Made for an exquisite, if somewhat morbid, combination of flavors.

The billowing clouds of Mist would have proven a noticeable detriment to Amicae's progress were it not for the pair of Swoobat she'd brought along- the various Flying attacks let them cut through the fog with relative ease. But Amity and Nadie would quickly find that their attacks were being actively opposed by blasts of Icy Wind as a Froslass, mostly obscured by aforementioned Mist, attempted to keep their vision as obscured as ever. That said, she wasn't completely successful in impeding them, and though Chuck the Gengar made an effort to scare them, they still made it down below. Having once had a Swoobat for a teammate, Aragog knew full well that Swoobat were hard to fool, but he gave it his best effort nonetheless, performing intricate tricks to mislead them with movements of his webs, with a dose of Night Shade thrown in here and there as a diversionary tactic. Ultimately, however, it was the efforts of one Sandygast that stopped Aragog in his tracks and allowed Amicae to collect the Library Key and make good her exit.

Out of everyone who attempted the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, few could be said to have done it better than Amicae. Naturally it threw her for a loop at first, but with her pair of Swoobat to help, she was able to circumvent the shifts in gravity, and while the general screwiness interfered with the usually and naturally high Speed of a Swoobat, they made it to the second floor with little trouble. Their biggest hindrance en route was the sudden appearance of a Shedinja, Sneaking up on them from the Shadows before emerging to land a quick strike. However, Vanish did not stick around for very long- the Shedinja was no fool, knowing full well that the Swoobat posed a significant risk to its continued consciousness if allowed to retaliate, and thus, Amicae got the East Wing Key with little trouble.

Finally came the Petrifying Palace. Amicae's tactic for this was speed over all else- get through the place without giving the residents a chance to do their thing. And initially, this worked beautifully, as a Dusknoir emerging from the floor in the entrance hall just barely missed grabbing hold of her. The Library wasn't hard for her to move across in no time, but the time Amicae spent seeking out the secret switch on the bookcase gave Fatale time to at least try and unnerve her guest. An ominous fluttering sound here, a sadistic cackle there, followed by the vampire of Cadaver Forest herself making an appearance and diving down at Amicae, though timed meticulously so that she was able to make it through the door just in time to avoid being impaled by the Shiny Beautifly's sharp mouth. Not that Fatale would have done so, of course, albeit only because of her Trainer's orders, but she contented herself with knowing that Amicae didn't know that.

Amicae's speed tactics were stopped cold in the kitchen as she stepped on a Sticky Web. And as if on cue, the Weedle and Slurpuff wheeled around. They ominously circled Ami, talking among themselves in a way that, if either of the Swoobat were to translate telepathically or something, most definitely implied an intention to cook and eat their newly-trapped guest. Fortunately, half a minute of persistent tugging would prove sufficient to separate Ami's footwear from the floor, and if she were to bolt for the warp panel at that point, she would not get caught. Her speed tactic was proving useful once more, and even moreso in the dining room, where she was able to make use of the East Wing Key before the Pokémon present could even begin their pursuit. At last, Ami's reward was before her, and the coveted Rare Candy was hers for the taking. Following this, the one Pokémon in the place she didn't need to worry about outrunning- Terri's Medicham, whose only job was to Teleport those who have earned their Candy back outside.

Meanwhile, up in the Battle Room, a trio of judges awaited their first performance of the night, and were soon treated to it in spectacular fashion. First came the creepy flute music. Everyone present undoubtedly heard it- it sent chills up the spines of one of the judges, Shiny hunter Gavin Golurkson. Salazar the Scolipede, who was quite difficult to frighten, if not impossible, peered at the battlefield expectantly- if he was unnerved by the flute music, he didn't show it. Bart the Scrafty, the third judge, folded his arms and glared at the battlefield in apparent boredom, trying desperately to mask the feeling of dread the music gave him.

And then came the creature, spinning in, scattering leaves all around as the flute music increased in tempo, the Nuzleaf donning a mask as it danced in. Gavin was simultaneously unnerved by the performance thus far and intrigued by the fact that the Nuzleaf's coloration seemed to be off. He didn't consult his Poké Radar then and there, keeping his eyes on the performance, but he'd be willing to bet his Shiny Charm that this performance was being given by a Shiny.

From the scattered leaves, however, numerous beasts gave rise and marched along with the Nuzleaf, some of them adding onto the flute music to further add to the tension of the situation. Bart was visibly shaking, and even Gavin's hairs were standing on end. Salazar couldn't be said to look scared. Wary, certainly, though. The scene progressed, the music growing and progressing along with it, as the Nuzleaf absorbed the shadowy figures, seeming to increase in size as a result, the song ending just as one shadowy demon remained. Once the final one was absorbed, there was a harsh glow... and all was gone, save for a vile cackle that echoed all around, leaving a stunned silence in its wake. The first performance of the night, and things were off to a strong start indeed, all three judges could agree.

"You know, I probably should've expected something like this," Melissa said to Wildfire, once Keith had explained everything. "Considering who it is." She studied the property and considered what he'd said about the trials. There was no chance she was going in there herself when most of the other haunted houses already creeped her out, so that just left her with asking one of her Pokémon to do it. And, while some of them may have wanted a crack at it, the only one she was confident in was...

Mar materialized in a flash of red and glanced around before looking up at her.

"It's a haunted house. If you can get through it, you get a Rare Candy." He gave her a skeptical look. "It's Keith's contribution to Halloween. You've heard how he is." She explained the path to the Candy as Keith had. "You're the only one I'm confident will make it through to be honest."

Mar grimaced, but nodded and headed for the Pokémon Center. He ducked his head, gritted his teeth, and powered through the illusions of getting replaced by that Torkoal; dug his feet in and Roared or Aerial Aced his way through the ship as necessary; tried to Magnet Rise his way around the lighthouse; repeatedly dodged the two Dusknoir; bullheadedly ignored the food and focused on his steps until he reached the bowl of Rare Candies.

Once he was back out with Melissa and Wildfire, he handed over the Rare Candy, shot the property a stink-eye, scowled at the pair of them, and returned himself. Melissa scratched the back of her neck sheepishly as Wildfire rolled his eyes.

Missingno. Master's Morbid, Macabre Madhouse o' Mayhem!

NOTES:

Mint couldn't help but crack up at the sight of Keith's Halloween costume. Oh, of course, she had her own idea up her sleeve for a performance in time, but before that came retrieving the Rare Candy from the very large and quite imposing mansion, or at least finding the three keys she'd need to reach said Rare Candy. Well, let it never be said Masters didn't go all out, Mint supposed. Truth be told, she was actually scared of the first stop, the Pokémon Center of Terror. Well, it was supposed to be the first stop, but nothing said she HAD to do it first, right? She could just, save it for later, right? Yeah, she could. Definitely. Being forced into her actual worst nightmares was not the sort of thing she needed on a night like this. A few Pokémon acting rabid and what have you she could handle, because it was an act-that, however, was no trifling matter.

That settled on, Mint headed straight to the deck of the S.S. Bloodbath, as Keith's vessel was so called for the night. The foggy deck was no trouble at all, and once she got below deck, having Heimdall in full alert by her side was a good comfort ensuring that whatever spider Pokémon was lurking down here wouldn't try anything drastic. Finding the captain's cabin with relative ease from there, Mint claimed the key she was looking for from a bucket of copies (Keith would probably have to consider changing a few locks after this was all done...), and went on her merry way. Between the Lighthouse and that Arceus-forsaken Pokemon Center, Mint easily chose the Lighthouse, and was off to her next destination.

She didn't appreciate flopping up onto the damn ceiling the moment she stepped in. As if the suction tube at that lousy Cathedral joint hadn't been enough! With a bit more of a clouded head than one would have liked to have from her frustration, Mint tentatively rested out the various areas of the Lighthouse, eventually piecing together a route to the button to unlock the stairs, and soon after finding her way to the stairs themselves, which also proceeded to throw her up onto the floor above in unceremonious fashion. If Mint had heard Keith right, this was some Terri Alph's doing? Mmm. Mint would be sure to remember that name. She angrily took her key from the pile and, blessedly free of the gravity screwage now, stormed from the Lighthouse. Only one place left to go, and in her newfound frustration, Mint could hardly be bothered to be scared of that Pokémon Center anymore.

She took a step inside, and anyone within earshot of the bloodcurdling scream of abject terror that soon issued forth from her lungs and into the outside world for a brief moment as the door finished sliding shut would inevitably wonder just what on Earth Mint saw in there. Alas for such curious minds, Mint would never answer that question herself...the sight of what remained of a friend buried in liquid fire beckoning her at the edge of Sendoff Spring's broken dock had hit far too close to home.

Moments later, Mint reappeared from the Pokémon Center, pale as a sheet, with a key gripped tightly enough in her hand to almost break the skin on the sharp, jagged edges. She would sit against the outer wall for quite a few minutes, not saying anything, or even so much as looking at another passerby, simply curled up on herself, three keys in hand.

Eventually, with some semblance of color returned to her skin, Mint came to the Front door and entered without a word. Mint tried unsuccessfully a few times to evade the roving Dusknoir, not even becoming annoyed or trying to improve her strategy. Eventually, she either got lucky, or the two ghosts got bored with her, as she made it all the way upstairs to the Library without further interruption. Mint took no special caution in the Library either. Despite Keith talking about some "Vampire of Cadaver Forest," not much was going to truly disturb or scare her after that Pokemon Center. Nonetheless, Heimdall insisted upon being let out for this one, if only to ensure said Vampire knew when to back off.

However, as they reached the entrance to where the Fright Extravaganza would be going on, Mint turned to Heimdall, breaking her usual silence.

"You remember the plan, yes?" she asked plaintively. "My actual script's going to be a little different, but...the cue will remain the same." she continued, not waiting for an answer, though Heimdall did nod. "Good. On my mark...now."

Pressing the switch to open the door to the Battle Room, those judging the Fright Extravaganza would see a young woman of Mint's vague description...save her completely blank eyes, lack of footwear, and current position a few inches off of the ground, courtesy of Heimdall's Psychic, the Gallade managing to, with much concentration, levitate himself as well. The pair, however, were not interested in putting on the usual sort of show. The pair of bodies floated towards the judges' table as an outright otherworldly mix of Mint and Heimdall's voices poured from her mouth-more Psychic trickery, not that anyone needed to know.

"Yyyyooooou...You would...desssssssecraaaaate...the sssouls...of the depaaaaarteeeeeeed..." she droned, her head haphazardly rocking from side to side. "Youuuu...mussssssst be...punnnnnnished for thisssss...youuuuu will come withhhhhh meeeeee...to the Reverse!" she suddenly finished. In one fluid motion, her right hand seized the shoulder of the judge directly across from her, and her left hand found Heimdall, and at once, the Gallade Teleported all three of them back to where the secret entrance to the event lay in the Library, and Mint, now decidedly more normal-looking despite the three of them landing quite unceremoniously on anything but their feet, finally cracked a smile as she reached for her shoes.

"Oh, man, that was golden. Have a rest, Heimdall, you earned it." she said, returning the exhausted Gallade to its Luxury Ball before standing and opening the door back to the Battle Room.

"I didn't scare you too badly, did I?" she asked the unwitting victim of her performance with a small smirk. After collecting whatever reward was in store for that one, she would finally get her hands on that Rare Candy and move on.

The last leg of the whole thing seemed to be...a Weedle and Slurpuff cooking something that smelled sickly sweet. Mint was glad she hadn't brought Merengue tonight, wrangling that rascal would have been a pain, and not dealing with that meant not dealing with most of the other voracious Pokemon as well. Through one last door lay the Living Room, with its bowl of Rare Candies. Mint took one, and proceeded to sigh as she was Teleported out. Damn poetic justice. Well, on to the next...

(OOC: Participating in second event 1/2 here.)

"Arrrrrr..."

There had been quite a few visitors to the currently named Spirit World Coast before, but the arrival of a single Larvitar was certainly not unusual. No, what would be of interest to the well trained eye would be the faint aura of darkness around Attila, and the ground pokemon merely regarded the human and feline pair as objects she'd have to accept as something to follow, despite her almost perpetual leer. Something about the centre of terror, some bloodbath, a lighthouse of strange repute and then the palace.

Yes, the palace. Such a description would be apt for her domain once she grew to her full strength, and such was the purpose of this frankly humiliating journey. However, it was last year that the self-proclaimed queen learned the lesson of humility, though this didn't exactly dissuade her from pushing her form to its limits with the frequent forays onto the beaches, picking fights with the aquatic residents and standing against their effective techniques, and with little internal fears the Larvitar slowly strode to the Poke Centre of Terror. Or at least strode in terms of having small legs.

Within, the surroundings didn't faze her too much, even though there was that spectral presence, but she gave a simple smirk and thought back to the events of last year. What was a degrading performance with that awkward human led to brutal ritual sacrifice, hook into the spine of some foolish human, the mortal fool being dragged screaming into damnation, and the surge of power from the eldritch gods that be filling her with great strength and knowledge. The world around her seemed to warp as she idly wondered how that poor soul would be spending their evening tonight, and the very sights around her warped to the Banette's whims, Attila's cruel glee and spite delivering an interesting emotional wave. Catching a sparkle, the pokemon retrieved the key from the centre and left, though her face wouldn't show the slight disturbance on the fate of that fool who crossed her.

The next trip was that great big floating tree caked with mist, or the S.S.. Bloodbath to normal people. Clambering aboard, the fog hovered above her, making things a little trickier to see, but being short for once had its advantages as the Larvitar opted to get down on all fours and crawl across the decks where the mist was much thinner on the eyes. The occasional movement caused her to hesitate every now and then, but on reaching below deck the dip in temperature came as an unanticipated shock. Gritting her teeth, the Larvitar pushed onward, and the occasional web spotted would be weighted down or shredded with some tactile use of stealth rocks as disposable knives. This would continue until she came across the second key, and after some effort through adversity she would retrieve the object, shaking off the chills down her spine.

Third on the list was the Topsy Turvy Lighthouse and on entry the sudden flight into the ceiling and weight may have caused some damage on impact to the building, not helped by the [i]iron[/b] hard head she was sporting over her horn to mitigate any injury. Granted, the strange sensation of this warped lighthouse was a curiosity to her and the weird pathway up would not be too easy with whatever lay within impeding her progress, but through trial and error the larval pokemon would eventually reach the key at the top, and then tumble down the stairs she was definitely not used to and making more of a mess of the walls. She'd send the bill to her human servant afterwards...

Finally, there was the Petrifying Palace. Phantoms in the hallways? The dark powers with her were positively pulsing at the prospect of being impeded. Vampires in the library? It would remain to be seed whether their fangs could pierce her sturdy hide. Hungry beasts? Through her own superpowered might or her own crunching fangs, she would prove her own mettle and simultaneously test herself on her own combat capabilities. There was little fear in her heart, and she relished what challenges awaited her on her way to her rightful prize, though her festive lessons would still weigh in on retrieval of multiple candies and she would merely take the one as intended, if only to appease that simpleton Alex.

Claiming, thanks MM!

myahoo: Having already been creeped out by previous haunted houses that night, Melissa had reached her limit. Only problem being, she couldn't say the same for her demand for Rare Candies. The solution was actually pretty simple, too- just send in one of her Pokémon to get the job done. And she wasn't the first to do this, either, so Keith had no objections as she sent Mar the Aron to do this in her stead.

Mar's strategy was just to plow through the whole thing with pure stubbornness, and either ignore or attack all that made to impede him. Myrtle scowled as the Aron ran right on through her illusions of Mar's Trainer replacing him with her Torkoal. Unwilling to let the Aron off so easily, Myrtle played the quadruple weakness card again, employing the strategy she'd initially had in mind fo Odysseus the Magneton- namely, making it seem as though the Pokémon Center of Terror was experiencing a horrible earthquake. But she didn't stop there- as Mar barged into the back room, he would suddenly find himself in a boxing ring, a wide variety of Fighting-types surrounding him. Scrafty, Toxicroak, Timburr, Hariyama, Sawk, and numerous Hitmonchan. If Mar, however, continued to plow on through, he'd find himself barreling right through a Timburr's torso, shattering the illusions like a Yanma shatters glass. At that moment he would find the Front Door Key at his feet.

Ghostly wails were not the only sounds heard aboard the S. S. Bloodbath- Mar's plan of attack for this was to outright fight back. Anything that got too close took an Aerial Ace, and anything else was Roared at. A solid plan, to be sure... except when the Ghost-types decided that enough was enough. Soon, Mar would find an eerie ghostly figure floating his way, flickering eerily. Any attempt to Roar it away would fail, and an attempt at Aerial Ace would only leave the Aron burned- it was a combination of Laugh's Will-O-Wisp and Chuck's Night Shade, disguising the ghostly flames as a Haunter, and as the illusion was broken, eerie cackles echoed all around. He proved far more effective at getting around and through Aragog's webs, though as he made it into the captain's cabin, he could see, for a split second, a Froslass hastily exiting through the ceiling. Next to the Library Key was a small bowl of Rawst juice which the Aron would find quite effective in healing that burn. Much as Laugh was involved in the scares tonight, she was too kind-hearted to let that burn linger.

Like so many before him, Mar attempted to find an easy way out in the Loony, Loopy Lighthouse. And at first, Magnet Rise seemed to be the way... until it didn't seem to get him anywhere. As hard as he tried, any attempts to get in the air only seemed to make gravity fight back twice as hard. Of course, that worked both ways- as soon as Mar willed himself to stay on the ground, he would rise effortlessly into the air. After that, the revelation that his personal controls were reversed would come pretty easily. Try to go backwards in order to move forward, try to turn left in order to turn right, things of that nature. If Mar could get the hang of that, getting the Right Wing Key would be super easy for him, especially if he landed an Aerial Ace on the Shedinja that barred his way.

Finally, the Petrifying Palace. Mar barreled through, evading Peeves and Liliana as the pair of Dusknoir made numerous attempts to drag him back to the entrance. He ignored Fatale's attempts to unnerve him, though might have caught a glimpse of Glimmerwood's terrifying performance as his path took him into the Battle Room. In the kitchen, he stepped on a Sticky Web, and while he exited as quickly as he could, he was forced to hear more than he'd have liked about how Hermione and Cotton were trying to provide the residents with more iron in their diet, and left just as they were wondering whether some kind of large magnet was ready to go yet. In the dining room, Mar would see a trio of predatory Pokémon closing in on him, which would likely be his cue to go for a Roar to get them out of his way. Finally, he made it to his goal, collected a Rare Candy, and once Teleported back outside, handed over the Rare Candy to his Trainer, though not without making known his displeasure towards the entire property and those who made him explore it. Keith gave a small chuckle as Melissa sheepishly scratched the back of her neck. "Well, I take it this isn't exactly your Aron's kind of thing," he said. "You're welcome to come back and visit after Halloween, when things around here are a lot less scary," he offered. "But in the meantime... well, happy Halloween."

*Melissa obtained a Rare Candy!*

Heather: The Pokémon Center of Terror. The S.S. Bloodbath. And the Loony Loopy Lighthouse. It was in this order Keith introduced the areas, it was in this order their respective keys saw use, and it was in this order everyone had explored them thus far, with Mint being the one to break that pattern. Keith couldn't help but notice a definite reluctance from her to enter the Pokémon Center of Terror. Immediately, he had a bad feeling- Myrtle was not known for holding back with these kinds of things.

With Heimdall by her side, the S.S. Bloodbath wasn't much of a problem, though as a grinning Gengar was quick to eerily remind them, Gallade was still weak to Ghost moves. He purposely had the Shadow Punch miss by less than an inch, however- Chuck had no intention of beating that reminder into either of them. And below deck, the Gallade's presence did indeed ensure that Aragog did nothing drastic. The Ariados felt like anything big and dramatic on his part would result in grievous bodily harm to his person, and was quite interested in avoiding that. Instead, he contented himself with occasionally remotely causing various webs to shake, as though signaling his approach, even though he stayed well out of sight.

In the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, Mint found herself more annoyed than anything else, affected by the change in gravity almost immediately. She was able to navigate her way around, but it was both difficult and frustrating, so much so that by the time she exited, she seemed to be too frustrated to be scared about the Pokémon Center of Terror as she approached it.

Now, entering aforementioned Pokémon Center, on the other hand, that was a whole other swarm of Yanma. The scream of terror caught Keith's attention, and he buried his face in his hands, mumbling a few choice swearwords in Shuppet language.

"Myrtle didn't go easy on her," Meowth remarked.

"Gee, you think?" Keith retorted. He looked back over at the Pokémon Center, seeing Mint emerge from it already, key in hand. Indeed, the visit was made quite brief- the scream of terror had barely died down before the horrific illusion she'd been subjected to vanished as abruptly as if someone had flipped a switch, and an unseen force had pressed a Front Door Key into her hand, as though sensing, to put it mildly, an intense desire to leave as soon as possible. And she sat against the outer wall of the Pokémon Center as Keith looked on, until she eventually got back up and went in the house.

Inside the Poisonous Palace, Mint didn't seem too bothered by the fact that Peeves and Liliana were able to return her to the entrance multiple times. Eventually, the couple realized that Mint was not about to make any sort of effort to avoid them, and so they simply left her alone, though she got a quite concerned look from Liliana, who seemed to sense that all was not right. Meanwhile, Fatale concerned herself more with the Gallade than with who he was protecting, seeing him as the bigger challenge to scare.

And speaking of scaring, they went for the Fright Extravaganza as they neared the Battle Room. All three judges looked up as a seemingly ghostlike woman and a hovering Gallade appeared, the former speaking in an otherworldly mix of voices. Salazar looked impressed, Gavin looked stunned, and Bart looked as though he was desperately hoping that his Black Glasses were concealing any terror in his eyes. And then came the big finale- Mint grabbed Gavin's shoulder whole also taking hold of Heimdall, and in spectacular use of Teleport, the three of them were whisked away, Gavin's unfinished swearword still echoing around the room in his absence.

In the Library, Gavin got back to his feet, still breathing somewhat heavily. "OK, wow," he chuckled. "That was some good shit right there. Here you go, you've earned some things," he added, handing Mint a goodie bag.

The rest of the tour went without much issue. Mint managed to get her Rare Candy and get out, though as she made to leave the property, she was stopped by a sudden vision- an illusion taking place before her eyes. She was entering the Sludge Wave Coast Pokémon Center, but seeing it as it usually was- bustling, busy, happy, staffed with a friendly blue-eyed Banette, a gentle and kindly Stunfisk, and a helpful Musharna. And then, right next to Mint, another Banette, this one with the red eyes usual for the species. Aforementioned red eyes were looking down, as though in shame or regret. No words were spoken by this Banette, be they in human language or otherwise, but her cloth paws pushed into Mint's hands what appeared to be a translucent blue rock with a number of small bubbles trapped within. And just like that, the illusion was gone, and Mint was still outside, yet the Water Stone was still in hand. A token of apology from a Banette who felt she may have crossed a line, perhaps...?

*Mint obtained a Rare Candy!*

*Mint obtained a Goodie Bag! It contained the following;*

  • x2 Rare Candies
  • 250
  • x1 Toxic Plate
  • x1 TM30 Shadow Ball

Raves: Among the visitors to Spirit World Coast was a Larvitar, and a difficult one to faze, at that. An aura of darkness surrounded her, fitting for what she would someday evolve into, and as she strolled off towards the Pokémon Center of Terror, Keith vaguely wondered how that would go. Myrtle might have been better off holding back with the previous guest, but this time, Keith doubted Myrtle would be able to faze Attila very much even when going all-out.

And go all-out Myrtle did! As soon as Attila entered the Pokémon Center, she would find it to be... smaller than she'd likely have pictured? Weird, yes, but hardly something worth getting all scared over. And then came the fright, or at least the attempt thereof- six Poké Balls on the healing machine exploding open, unleashing half a dozen gigantic Pokémon, easily larger than the norms of their respective species, and certainly larger than Attila- so big they reduced the Pokémon Center roof to rubble that crashed down all around Atilla as they stood in a circle around Atilla, looking down condescendingly at her, mocking her. A Tsareena, a Nidoqueen, a Kingler, a Politoed, a Serperior, and a Vespiquen. Now, if this wasn't gonna bother Atilla because she figured she'd be obviously superior to them once fully evolved, she needed only look down at herself to realize just why the Pokémon Center seemed so small- she WAS fully evolved! She had become a Tyranitar somehow, and was still dwarved by these regal Pokémon who looked down at her and scoffed. Any attempt at launching an attack at them would fail, as well, as though none of them so much as felt the attacks. And then, as soon as there was enough time for Attila to react to this development, it all faded away. The Pokémon Center was intact, empty, and normal-sized, and Attila was still a Larvitar. The only trace of anything unnatural was an echoing eerie cackle as Attila grabbed the Front Door Key. Myrtle found the Larvitar to be an interesting one.

Attila's next stop was the S.S. Bloodbath, where her short stature would work to her advantage- crawling low to the deck gave her maximum visibility in the eerie Mist... but then, considering what awaited her there, was that really for the best? Dark shadows, with not an earthly soul in sight to cast them, shot across the deck in all directions, some of them coming extremely close to Attila, and in such instances she would feel an ominous chill. Well, I say ominous- your mileage may vary. Indeed, it was doubtful that just that would be enough to frighten Attila, considering just what she'd done the last Halloween. Below deck, things were a bit easier for her- the webs were no match for the Larvitar powering through, and in some cases, hacking and slashing her way through. Stealth Rock really did make for some handy disposable knives, didn't it?

With two keys down and one to go, Attila continued onward to the Loony, Loopy Lighthouse. However, the inherent trickery and overall chaotic nature of the place made for some... less than desirable results. The shifting gravity got Attila falling straight up to the ceiling, practically into the ceiling as she shielded her noggin from impact with Iron Head, which had the unfortunate side effect of putting a hole in said ceiling. She was able to find her way through trial and error, but not without causing a bit more unintentional property damage. The Murkrow that eyed Attila taking the key had half a mind to blast her with Confuse Ray, but thought better of it- she'd damaged this place enough as it was without being confused. If she was actively confused? Want didn't want to imagine.

Finally, the Petrifying Palace. Attila was first met by a Dusknoir who tried to take her back to the entrance, only to be force-fed a Dark Pulse. Peeves was taken aback and pushed back by the move, but very quickly decided that if that little Larvitar wanted a fight, then she'd get one! At least, until he calmed down a bit, remembering his instructions- he wasn't to actually harm anyone in the process of bringing them back to the entrance. That said, he knew he didn't want this to be over yet, so he pretended to concede defeat, letting Attila continue. Fatale showed no fear at the sight of the Rock/Ground-type, letting out her trilling cry as she dive-bombed her, missing by but an inch, completely on purpose so as to allow her an opportunity to move forward. Nothing held her up in the kitchen, but the dining room was a whole other swarm of Yanma- Attila was accosted by a Seviper, a Carnivine (who at this point had not yet gone off to the Hatchery along with the love of his life, though that was coming up soon afterwards!), and a hungry-looking Duddigon who looked like he could eat rocks. All three were rebuffed by Attila's Crunch and Superpower attacks. This caused quite the fight to break out, which Marvolo eventually broke up by Wrapping his coils around the Larvitar, fixing her with a murderous Glare, and informing her in no uncertain terms that they could kill her if they were so inclined. He let her go after this, even providing her a glass of Cheri juice to deal with that paralysis, and a small grin betraying his respect for her potential. All of this culminated when Attila entered the living room... only to get ambushed by Peeves! The Dusknoir had been biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment, and Peeves was able to drag the Larvitar back to the entrance! So there went Attila through the house all over again... she did make it to the Rare Candy this time, though.

~~~~~
Meanwhile, up in the Battle Room, a trio of judges awaited their first performance of the night, and were soon treated to it in spectacular fashion. First came the creepy flute music. Everyone present undoubtedly heard it- it sent chills up the spines of one of the judges, Shiny hunter Gavin Golurkson. Salazar the Scolipede, who was quite difficult to frighten, if not impossible, peered at the battlefield expectantly- if he was unnerved by the flute music, he didn't show it. Bart the Scrafty, the third judge, folded his arms and glared at the battlefield in apparent boredom, trying desperately to mask the feeling of dread the music gave him.
And then came the creature, spinning in, scattering leaves all around as the flute music increased in tempo, the Nuzleaf donning a mask as it danced in. Gavin was simultaneously unnerved by the performance thus far and intrigued by the fact that the Nuzleaf's coloration seemed to be off. He didn't consult his Poké Radar then and there, keeping his eyes on the performance, but he'd be willing to bet his Shiny Charm that this performance was being given by a Shiny.
From the scattered leaves, however, numerous beasts gave rise and marched along with the Nuzleaf, some of them adding onto the flute music to further add to the tension of the situation. Bart was visibly shaking, and even Gavin's hairs were standing on end. Salazar couldn't be said to look scared. Wary, certainly, though. The scene progressed, the music growing and progressing along with it, as the Nuzleaf absorbed the shadowy figures, seeming to increase in size as a result, the song ending just as one shadowy demon remained. Once the final one was absorbed, there was a harsh glow... and all was gone, save for a vile cackle that echoed all around, leaving a stunned silence in its wake. The first performance of the night, and things were off to a strong start indeed, all three judges could agree.
*Amicae obtained a Rare Candy!*
*Amicae obtained a Goodie Bag! It contained the following;*
Spoiler: show
  • x2 Rare Candies
  • 250
  • x1 Spell Tag
  • x1 TM13 Ice Beam
  • x1 Poison Ball
  • x1 Skeleball
  • x1 Plague Doctor Mask
  • x1 Dusk Stone
Well, one thing as for certain: Ami hadn't skipped out on cardio day this week. She hadn't expected to wind running through that much of the place! Even Amity was having some difficulty keeping her usual cheerful air as they stumbled away from where Observe had dropped them off. The Spirit World Coast wasn't just going 'all-out', it was utterly overkill!
"...Okay... You've definitely... made up for that... dumb rock joke..." the girl managed to get out as she slowly caught her breath. "If you'll excuse me... I have some potentially... life-altering revelations... to mull over..."
The Spirit World Coast wasn't done throwing surprises at her, however- a goodie bag with her name on it was waiting by the gate. "...Huh? When did we...?" She sighed and picked it up. "You know what? Whatever. There's no point in fighting this place anymore..."
*Amicae got 3 Rare Candies, $250, Spell Tag x1, TM Ice Beam x1, Poison Ball x1, Skeleball x1, Plague Doctor Mask x1, and Dusk Stone x1!*
Sure, he knew Smog, Mean Look, and Night Shade, but attempting to use those moves exhausted him something fierce, to the point where he rarely ever actually attempted to do so- 99 times out of 100, giving a command to his Pokémon was much more practical. He was lighter than he looked, he could jump a bit higher than he looked capable of doing, he naturally understood the language of the Gastly evolution line, and found it easier than most would to learn Pokémon languages. And of course, he couldn't be poisoned. Overall, the quarter of him that had become Gastly put much more emphasis on the Poison typing than on the Ghost typing. Which, Keith supposed, might be partly responsible for his affinity for the Poison type.
Moreover, this meant that no ghostly aspects of him enabled him to get through that time lapse. He noticed nothing out of the ordinary, and Drake's attempt to play off his actions as something so simple as his neck popping succeeded. Keith noticed his actions, but saw no reason to suspect them as anything more than what Drake intended him to see them as. "You alright?" Keith asked casually.
(I got no problem going with your storyline, sure.)
Well, as your base got busy, I didn't update you with our storyline ( my bad but i didn't want to over whelm you )
I am going to make a short(ish) reply and invite you to come over to my base if you wish to continue and want to have a battle.
Drake rolled his neck once more "Yeah, I am good, I just have a feeling that I am going to get a call soon, - and as if on command, Drakes phone rang, Drake took one look at it and continued- " Yup, there it is, Sorry I have too take this"
Drake turned away and walked outside talking in a low hushed voice.
Wolfe in the meantime looked at Keith and spoke
"Drake doesn't intend to be rude to you, he has had a lot on his plate, I have a feeling that we will be going soon.,
Wolfe turned back to the amoonguss and added, "I know Cassie was here, I can smell her scent here, but I will be visiting her soon. very soon. " there was a sad glint in his eyes as he thought of his mate.
Voltsy, Queenie and Oisin stiffen up for a moment, then relax and move to stand by Wolfe, while the dog pokemon straigtend up
At that moment Drake walked back in and spoke " Alright guys, we need to cut this short - turning to keith he adds, - I apologize, a family emergancy has come up and I need to go back like yesterday. Feel free to stop by my base soon so we can continue this chat, as we have much more to speak of. Also, feel free to bring over as many pokemon as you want."
Turning back to his pokemon, each waved goodbye before Drake recalled them back into their pokeballs, all except Wolfe, which almost always stayed outside his ball.
"We hope to see you at the GateWay base soon Keith Masters, good luck and good bye for now"
Drake confirmed he was OK, though had to take a call the very next moment. At that moment, Wolfe explained to Keith that Drake wasn't trying to be rude, that he's just had a lot going on. Keith nodded in response- Drake didn't come off as particularly rude to him, and he was certainly no stranger to inappropriately-timed phone calls. In fact, it saddened him a bit to learn that their guests might have to leave so soon. And in fact, that ended up being the case, with Drake informing Keith of a family emergency that demanded his immediate attention. "It's no problem," Keith responded. "I just hope everything's OK." With that, goodbyes were said, and Drake and his Pokémon left, with the only question on Keith Masters's mind being, when exactly he would take Drake up on his offer and visit him on his own turf.
It was in this order Keith introduced the areas, it was in this order their respective keys saw use, and it was in this order everyone had explored them thus far, with Mint being the one to break that pattern. Keith couldn't help but notice a definite reluctance from her to enter the Pokémon Center of Terror. Immediately, he had a bad feeling- Myrtle was not known for holding back with these kinds of things.
With Heimdall by her side, the S.S. Bloodbath wasn't much of a problem, though as a grinning Gengar was quick to eerily remind them, Gallade was still weak to Ghost moves. He purposely had the Shadow Punch miss by less than an inch, however- Chuck had no intention of beating that reminder into either of them. And below deck, the Gallade's presence did indeed ensure that Aragog did nothing drastic. The Ariados felt like anything big and dramatic on his part would result in grievous bodily harm to his person, and was quite interested in avoiding that. Instead, he contented himself with occasionally remotely causing various webs to shake, as though signaling his approach, even though he stayed well out of sight.
In the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, Mint found herself more annoyed than anything else, affected by the change in gravity almost immediately. She was able to navigate her way around, but it was both difficult and frustrating, so much so that by the time she exited, she seemed to be too frustrated to be scared about the Pokémon Center of Terror as she approached it.
Now, entering aforementioned Pokémon Center, on the other hand, that was a whole other swarm of Yanma. The scream of terror caught Keith's attention, and he buried his face in his hands, mumbling a few choice swearwords in Shuppet language.
"Myrtle didn't go easy on her," Meowth remarked.
"Gee, you think?" Keith retorted. He looked back over at the Pokémon Center, seeing Mint emerge from it already, key in hand. Indeed, the visit was made quite brief- the scream of terror had barely died down before the horrific illusion she'd been subjected to vanished as abruptly as if someone had flipped a switch, and an unseen force had pressed a Front Door Key into her hand, as though sensing, to put it mildly, an intense desire to leave as soon as possible. And she sat against the outer wall of the Pokémon Center as Keith looked on, until she eventually got back up and went in the house.
Inside the Poisonous Palace, Mint didn't seem too bothered by the fact that Peeves and Liliana were able to return her to the entrance multiple times. Eventually, the couple realized that Mint was not about to make any sort of effort to avoid them, and so they simply left her alone, though she got a quite concerned look from Liliana, who seemed to sense that all was not right. Meanwhile, Fatale concerned herself more with the Gallade than with who he was protecting, seeing him as the bigger challenge to scare.
And speaking of scaring, they went for the Fright Extravaganza as they neared the Battle Room. All three judges looked up as a seemingly ghostlike woman and a hovering Gallade appeared, the former speaking in an otherworldly mix of voices. Salazar looked impressed, Gavin looked stunned, and Bart looked as though he was desperately hoping that his Black Glasses were concealing any terror in his eyes. And then came the big finale- Mint grabbed Gavin's shoulder whole also taking hold of Heimdall, and in spectacular use of Teleport, the three of them were whisked away, Gavin's unfinished swearword still echoing around the room in his absence.
In the Library, Gavin got back to his feet, still breathing somewhat heavily. "OK, wow," he chuckled. "That was some good shit right there. Here you go, you've earned some things," he added, handing Mint a goodie bag.
The rest of the tour went without much issue. Mint managed to get her Rare Candy and get out, though as she made to leave the property, she was stopped by a sudden vision- an illusion taking place before her eyes. She was entering the Sludge Wave Coast Pokémon Center, but seeing it as it usually was- bustling, busy, happy, staffed with a friendly blue-eyed Banette, a gentle and kindly Stunfisk, and a helpful Musharna. And then, right next to Mint, another Banette, this one with the red eyes usual for the species. Aforementioned red eyes were looking down, as though in shame or regret. No words were spoken by this Banette, be they in human language or otherwise, but her cloth paws pushed into Mint's hands what appeared to be a translucent blue rock with a number of small bubbles trapped within. And just like that, the illusion was gone, and Mint was still outside, yet the Water Stone was still in hand. A token of apology from a Banette who felt she may have crossed a line, perhaps...?
*Mint obtained a Rare Candy!*
*Mint obtained a Goodie Bag! It contained the following;*
Spoiler: show
  • x2 Rare Candies
  • 250
  • x1 Toxic Plate
  • x1 TM30 Shadow Ball
  • x1 Ice Ball
  • x1 Skeleball
  • x1 Devil Horns
  • x1 Water Stone
[/COLOR]
As Mint was placing the Rare Candies from her Goodie Bag with the other she'd obtained, a vision came over her of the Pokemon Center she'd been in not long ago, sans the horrific sights she'd seen last she was inside, the usual kind and caring Pokemon staff in its place. At her right side, a Banette with a somber expression pushed a Water Stone into her hands, before said vision abruptly ended. Oddly, the Stone was still present, however. Mint didn't quite know what to feel in the moment, but... she did appreciate the gesture. It would make a good surprise gift for a certain Lombre on her team, when the time was right...
(OOC: Thanks for everything, Keith! Claiming the above listed rewards, and feeding all 3 Rare Candies to Piper, my Starly, raising her to Level 13.
*Piper learned Double Team!*
I'll also use this space to use that TM Shadow Ball on Kicks, my Stunky. Now the only question is will that Skeleball be seeing use anytime soon...
"Oh, dey ain't really gonna hold back on her just cuz dey's scared o' Marv, are dey?" Meowth asked Keith once Kinana had slithered off toward the Pokémon Center of Terror.
"Oh, I don't think so," Keith smirked. "Kinana's going to learn sooner or later that her father's influence only stretches so far..."
Once inside the Pokémon Center, all seemed quiet. To Kinana it might seem as though her way of thinking was proving to be correct, but it all seemed a bit... too quiet. Like, ominously so. Indeed, the way across the lobby to the door leading to the back room was free and clear, but once she got to the door, a creepy cackle echoed throughout the building, not seeming to come from any one direction in particular, which would send a chill down the coils of even a fully-grown Seviper. For a moment, that seemed to be it, but once Kinana got the door opened, any hopes to that effect were swiftly dashed- beyond the doorway was absolutely nothing. A void of nothingness that no light source would be able to illuminate. And upon looking back into the Pokémon Center, Kinana would see that same void of nothingness all around her- her entire surroundings, seemingly transformed. The eerie silence from before was back, its eeriness almost certainly more pronounced. Any cries for help, any screaming for her parents, it would all go unheeded. But eventually, Kinana would see several... things in the distance. Two red dots, and one thin golden line. Very far off in the distance at first, but she'd soon realize they were closing in on her, by which time she'd see they were moving much faster as they closed in, leaving just enough time to identify them as a pair of Banette eyes above that eerie zipper grin, coming straight for Kinana-! And then, just before the creepily disembodied Banette face would be able to make contact, there was a Dazzling Gleam of light, and once it subsided, all was normal again, save for a reprise of that eerie cackle. albeit interrupted by what sounded by someone munching on a Cheri Berry. Had that Glare really worked?
Next up was the S. S. Bloodbath. The chilly Mist Kinana had to slither through would surely hinder her progress- Seviper weren't all that good with the cold, but surely she'd remember the stories her father would tell her at Christmastime, about a heroic Seviper who braved the cold and saved Christmas, and draw inspiration from them. But such inspiration would only do so much, especially when an eerie grin appeared out of nowhere, but with nothing else visible, let alone eyes of any kind, would a Glare even work? Any attempts at Wrap proved horribly futile, the reason becoming quickly apparent- the grin slowly faded away, only for the entire Gengar to suddenly become completely visible right before Kinana's eyes! Of course Wrap wouldn't work on a Ghost-type! A sudden splash, and Kinana would see, if she looked up, the formidable form of a School Form Wishiwashi jumping clear over the ship. As she made it down below, she could hear, behind her, the clanking and rattling of a Cryogonal's ice crystal mustache. Down below, her plan to Wrap anyone thinking of messing with her was looking less and less viable- the Spider Webs strung all over left precious little room to maneuver. If anything was thinking of making trouble, Kinana would surely get entangled in the webs just trying to use Wrap. In any case, no Ariados made itself visible, but for sure Kinana would hear creepy scuttling sounds, and if she turned in the direction from which she heard it, nothing would actually be there...
Third stop was the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, for which Kinana had perhaps the most flawed plan. Haze was a great way to reset any stat modifications, true enough, just... not so much effects such as Topsy-Turvy or Trick Room. Indeed, as she let out the black mist, it swirled harmlessly away from her, the dark clouds billowing larger and larger, taking shape as they did so, become gigantic Zangoose with deranged grins and overly long claws, gliding across the floor in pursuit of Kinana. And the faster she moved, the quicker the Haze-Zangoose seemed to catch up to her. But if she moved towards them, they seemed to get farther away. Either way, it wasn't that much longer before they vanished in harmless puffs of black smoke that would nevertheless make her think twice about trying to use Haze as a quick fix in this lighthouse again. And by that time, Kinana would surely realize she was somehow on the ceiling. It took her a while to get to the switch, get up to the second floor, and grab the key, what with the gravity changing on occasion, but she managed it. She did have to contend with a Shedinja barring her way at one point, completely unresponsive no matter what she did (barring, of course, any sort of super effective attack), just floating there, staring creepily at her, but in the end, she got all three keys.
Finally, Kinana had to go through the Petrifying Palace. She made it across the entrance hall before a Dusknoir caught up with her and took her back to the entrance. Any complaints on Kinana's part were met with Peeves's insistence that the days of Marvolo being able to intimidate him were long past. Following that, Kinana's way was not impeded any further until she made it to the second floor. This time it was Liliana who tried to bring the Seviper back to the entrance, but Kinana was able to evade this one. In the library, Fatale pulled out all the stops just as she would for anyone else, trying to scare the crap out of Kinana, and laughing sadistically whenever she seemed to succeed in this. Once Kinana got as far as the kitchen, she would hear the Weedle and Slurpuff talking loudly about all the Zangoose they needed to cook for tonight, and lamenting how they were one Seviper head short of what they needed for their signature stew. Only in the dining room was there any semblance of special treatment. The Seviper, Carnivine, and Druddigon all rose from their seats in response to their guest, but rather than hungry pursuit, they warmly greeted Kinana. Marvolo in particular hugged his daughter in his coils, and commended the bravery it took her to get this far, considering he was unable to intimidate everyone else into easing up on her. Some of the involved Pokémon, he added, weren't even on Keith's team, and he'd never had the chance to meet them in his life. But, considering the bravery Kinana had to have possessed to get that far, Marvolo couldn't be too upset about the situation- he was too proud of his daughter. Finally, once Kinana made it to the living room, she was greeted by Terri, and once she took a Rare Candy, Observe the Medicham Teleported her back outside, where Keith would be waiting to tell her what she might have already learned by that point- that relying on her parents wouldn't work for everything.
*Kinana obtained a Rare Candy!*
Thanks for giving Kinana the scare she deserved!
It wasn't too surprising to Keith that she knew him already- Keith Masters knew full well he'd managed to make something of a name for himself in the Fizzytopia region. "Charmed to meet you as well, Mircalla," he said in response. He didn't seem daunted at all by her assertion that she didn't scare easily. Indeed, he looked quite pleased that everything he worked on would get to be put to such a challenge.
Mircalla and Scylla's first stop was the Pokémon Center of Terror, whereupon the woman proved remarkably adept at incapacitating a zombie nurse. Indeed, rather than afraid, at most she was annoyed that the fake zombie seemed to have left real blood and brains on her umbrella. Except not really- much later on, the illusory blood and brains would vanish, but for now, it would stay there. Myrtle was rather proud of herself for thinking of that little touch. But Myrtle was also somewhat annoyed, considering how hard it was proving to get any sort of fearful response out of this visitor. Ghosts wailing about dragging her to the Distortion World got Mircalla dreaming of a vacation where physics didn't work the same. And when the illusory ghosts vanished, Mircalla didn't seem too impressed.
"Try har-der?" Myrtle murmured to herself, zipper teeth twisted into an ominous smirk. "Chal-lenge ac-cep-ted, Mir-cal-la..."
The entire center changed right then and there, the floor suddenly changing, becoming quite ill-suited for high-heeled boots, to say the least. It was as though Mircalla was standing on living flesh, to the point where blood spurted out of the holes her heels were making. But that wasn't enough, no- a massive, hulking beast was pursuing her as well. This prompted Mircalla to break into a run, her smile unable to mask the wave of terror that washed over her. There was no masking that from Myrtle, and it was delicious! The Banette's sadistic, gleeful cackle echoed all around as she kept on distorting and messing with the environment, adding little touches that could be attributed to her past life as a Missingno., to her knowledge of the screwier and scarier aspects to the world, the glitches in the very fabric of reality. If Mircalla glanced at Scylla at any point, she wouldn't see her Inkay, but rather a disagreeable yet powerful-looking Bulbasaur, who would appear to explode gruesomely if given any instructions. A closer look at the charging beast would reveal it to look like a Charizard, except much bigger than what was normal for the species, and also not quite right somehow, as though it was a more sinister species of Pokémon taking on the appearance of a Charizard. And if Mircalla had a Trainer Card on her, or any form of ID that displayed her name, she would find that her name appeared to be replaced with an impossibly long line of Zs with the occasional random letter inserted.
And then, Mircalla grabbed the Front Door Key, and just like that, the illusions were broken. Her way out of the Center was quite unimpeded from this point, and Myrtle heard her parting words loud and clear. "I like her," the Banette remarked to nobody in particular.
The S. S. Bloodbath was their next destination. Crossing the deck of the ship, Mircalla's only real concern was that she wasn't dressed any warmer for this. The sight of the Froslass lurking in the Mist did nothing to unnerve the woman, and the source of said Mist saw this. The Cryogonal lurking up at the helm decided to rattle its ice crystal mustache, see if the sound could add to the ominous atmosphere. And if Mircalla neared the railing on the port side of the ship, she would witness the School Form Wishiwashi jumping out, disturbingly close to the ship. But in any case, Mircalla made it down below, where she discovered to her surprise that the cobwebs were not cobwebs, but rather sturdy Spider Webs. These made the hallway a veritable maze, but it was especially prevalent in the captain's cabin. Unseen by the visitors, Aragog watched as Mircalla donned a pair of cheap leather gloves, and stuck them deliberately to one of the webs, calling out the Ariados to eat her. Of course, Aragog wasn't going to eat her, but if she was going to make light of his contributions like this, he was going to try and put at least a little fear into her. He charged, giving this all the Agility he had while the Inkay went and grabbed the key. However, it was almost as though Mircalla had figured on Aragog being this fast, and she was able to take her hands out of the gloves just in time. Of course, Aragog didn't really bite through the gloves, but he still did get a taste of the crappy leather, and he hissed in disgust. He hoped Crabbe would come and clean this up later- it reminded him of that one time he felt movement on one of his webs a few weeks ago, only to find out, to his great disgust, that a wild Trumbeak had merely crapped on it.
With two keys down and one to go, Mircalla's next stop was the Loony Loopy Lighthouse. And she... fell down. For someone who didn't fear the Distortion World, she couldn't handle a little Malamar-made madness all that well. However, Scylla was faring quite a bit better, but then, being an Inkay, this was to be expected. The Inkay was the one to navigate the lighthouse, activate the switch, go up to the second floor, and she did all of that unimpeded. However, as she reached the East Wing Key, she was beaten to it- a Murkrow swooped down, clutching the shiny key in her talons as though to show who was the better Thief of the two. Want gave a derisive, mockulatory caw. Eyes flashing, and with the speed of a professional Prankster, the Murkrow let loose a Confuse Ray... but it failed. Scylla was able to yoink the key away from Want, leaving the Murkrow bewildered, having not been aware of the fact that Dark-types such as herself were immune to moves that had been augmented by Prankster. It was likely that Scylla was unaware of this herself, perhaps attributing the failed Confuse Ray to an impossible stroke of luck, or her good fortune in fleeing when she did. Anyhow, the Inkay was rattled by the experience, and both her and Mircalla seemed only too glad to leave the lighthouse.
Finally, the main attraction. The long walk down the entrance hall... nothing showed up. Was Mircalla starting out with a good stroke of luck, or was this a conscious choice of the residents, to build up some suspense? If it was the latter, it seemed to be working- once Mircalla reached the library, she felt a cold chill, and seemed compelled to make sure nothing was coming up behind her. Fatale let loose a sadistic chuckle- potential prey already so frightened? Beautiful. The Shiny Beautifly flitted about, keeping concealed, hoping to make some noise with her wings to further unnerve Mircalla. She was under strict orders to not actually drink anyone's blood, but by no means did this mean she was about to reassure the visitors with this fact. She was a bit surprised to see Mircalla produce a bottle from her purse, open it up, and leave it on the table along with a note. Once she'd found the secret switch and exited, Fatale approached what the woman had left. A note suggesting that their tastes were not so different, and a bottle of... wine? Or, no... if the note suggested what Fatale believed it to, then surely this was...? The Shiny Beautifly unfurled her mouth and cautiously dipped it into the bottle, intent on taking a sip of its contents...
Once Mircalla made it to the kitchen, she found herself drawn to the scent of the food Hermione and Cotton were cooking, only to find herself caught in a Sticky Web. As she cursed her having fallen for this, the Weedle and Slurpuff turned around to face their visitor, deranged grins on their faces as they slowly made their way closer to Mircalla. Cotton began to emanate an ominous Chill as he charged up a Shadowy attack, while Hermione's Horn-like head stinger began spinning like a Drill. Mircalla, however, was able to free herself from the Sticky Web and take the warp tile to the dining room. Once she was gone, Hermione and Cotton stopped charging their menacing attacks, and the Slurpuff instead set to work reapplying the Sticky Web.
In the dining room, however, Mircalla's adventure was far from over. Now she had a hungry Carnivine, Druddigon, and Seviper to contend with, and she did not feel like contending with them. Mircalla and her Inkay took off, making a mad dash for the door. In a nice display of teamwork, Mircalla passed the East Wing Key to Scylla, who was able to unlock the door, and they were able to get through with no trouble, Mircalla even blocking the doorway with her umbrella to try and buy them time. And then, there was another chill down her spine, this time with a visible cause- Peeves the Dusknoir was bearing down on them about to drag them back to the entrance and make them start all over again. But Scylla did not let this happen. Whether due to a sudden influx of bravery, or a desire to not have to go through that scary house a second time, the Inkay made to Constrict Peeves's face to impede his vision. Peeves, of course, wasn't bothered by this, but the close proximity of the Inkay did in fact impede his view, and Mircalla was able to move forward, evading the male Dusknoir's attempted Bind, and grab herself a Rare Candy. At that point, Observe the Medicham stepped forward, and Mircalla found herself back outside by way of Teleport.
"One-up me, huh?" grinned Keith. "I gotta say, I'd like to see that. He bowed back to Mircalla, before she'd noticed that her Inkay wasn't by her side. "Hoo, boy... I sure hope she's not," Keith remarked. "By the way, if you want a quick and easy way to get the rest of those webs off, I can ask my Crobat to use a light Defog- they'll slide right off."
Back in the house, any attempted Rare Candy heists by Scylla were forestalled by a strange mechanical voice sounding in her head, almost telepathically. ANALYSIS COMPLETE: INKAY, THE REVOLVING POKéMON. A DARK AND PSYCHIC-TYPE. FLASHES LIGHT-EMITTING SPOTS ON ITS BODY TO DRAIN ITS OPPONENT'S WILL TO FIGHT, AND TAKES THE OPPORTUNITY TO SCUTTLE AWAY AND HIDE. ERROR: NUMBER OF RARE CANDIES TAKEN BY INKAY AND HUMAN ALLY- ONE. NUMBER OF RARE CANDIES FURTHER OWED TO INKAY AND HUMAN ALLY- ZERO. NUMBER OF RARE CANDIES ATTEMPTED TO BE TAKEN BY INKAY EXCEEDS AMOUNT OWED. REQUESTING PERMISSION TO EXECUTE STANDARD THIEVERY PREVENTION PROTOCOL 93-649. ERROR- STANDARD THIEVERY PREVENTION PROTOCOL 93-649 INEFFECTIVE AGAINST THE DARK TYPE. EXECUTING BACKUP THIEVERY PREVENTION PROTOCOL 33: TACKLE ATTACK.
Having previously used Confusion to open a window during its mental mechanical monologue, a Bronzor zoomed forward, ramming into Scylla with the intention of pushing her out the open window, moreso than causing damage. And as this happened, Scylla would have heard another derisive, mocking caw from the Loony Loopy Lighthouse, almost as though Want had seen the whole thing and was further convinced that she was the superior thief of the two.
*Mircalla obtained a Rare Candy! Just the one! No more than one!*
Claiming my candy! Thank you!
The solution was actually pretty simple, too- just send in one of her Pokémon to get the job done. And she wasn't the first to do this, either, so Keith had no objections as she sent Mar the Aron to do this in her stead.
Mar's strategy was just to plow through the whole thing with pure stubbornness, and either ignore or attack all that made to impede him. Myrtle scowled as the Aron ran right on through her illusions of Mar's Trainer replacing him with her Torkoal. Unwilling to let the Aron off so easily, Myrtle played the quadruple weakness card again, employing the strategy she'd initially had in mind fo Odysseus the Magneton- namely, making it seem as though the Pokémon Center of Terror was experiencing a horrible earthquake. But she didn't stop there- as Mar barged into the back room, he would suddenly find himself in a boxing ring, a wide variety of Fighting-types surrounding him. Scrafty, Toxicroak, Timburr, Hariyama, Sawk, and numerous Hitmonchan. If Mar, however, continued to plow on through, he'd find himself barreling right through a Timburr's torso, shattering the illusions like a Yanma shatters glass. At that moment he would find the Front Door Key at his feet.
Ghostly wails were not the only sounds heard aboard the S. S. Bloodbath- Mar's plan of attack for this was to outright fight back. Anything that got too close took an Aerial Ace, and anything else was Roared at. A solid plan, to be sure... except when the Ghost-types decided that enough was enough. Soon, Mar would find an eerie ghostly figure floating his way, flickering eerily. Any attempt to Roar it away would fail, and an attempt at Aerial Ace would only leave the Aron burned- it was a combination of Laugh's Will-O-Wisp and Chuck's Night Shade, disguising the ghostly flames as a Haunter, and as the illusion was broken, eerie cackles echoed all around. He proved far more effective at getting around and through Aragog's webs, though as he made it into the captain's cabin, he could see, for a split second, a Froslass hastily exiting through the ceiling. Next to the Library Key was a small bowl of Rawst juice which the Aron would find quite effective in healing that burn. Much as Laugh was involved in the scares tonight, she was too kind-hearted to let that burn linger.
Like so many before him, Mar attempted to find an easy way out in the Loony, Loopy Lighthouse. And at first, Magnet Rise seemed to be the way... until it didn't seem to get him anywhere. As hard as he tried, any attempts to get in the air only seemed to make gravity fight back twice as hard. Of course, that worked both ways- as soon as Mar willed himself to stay on the ground, he would rise effortlessly into the air. After that, the revelation that his personal controls were reversed would come pretty easily. Try to go backwards in order to move forward, try to turn left in order to turn right, things of that nature. If Mar could get the hang of that, getting the Right Wing Key would be super easy for him, especially if he landed an Aerial Ace on the Shedinja that barred his way.
Finally, the Petrifying Palace. Mar barreled through, evading Peeves and Liliana as the pair of Dusknoir made numerous attempts to drag him back to the entrance. He ignored Fatale's attempts to unnerve him, though might have caught a glimpse of Glimmerwood's terrifying performance as his path took him into the Battle Room. In the kitchen, he stepped on a Sticky Web, and while he exited as quickly as he could, he was forced to hear more than he'd have liked about how Hermione and Cotton were trying to provide the residents with more iron in their diet, and left just as they were wondering whether some kind of large magnet was ready to go yet. In the dining room, Mar would see a trio of predatory Pokémon closing in on him, which would likely be his cue to go for a Roar to get them out of his way. Finally, he made it to his goal, collected a Rare Candy, and once Teleported back outside, handed over the Rare Candy to his Trainer, though not without making known his displeasure towards the entire property and those who made him explore it. Keith gave a small chuckle as Melissa sheepishly scratched the back of her neck. "Well, I take it this isn't exactly your Aron's kind of thing," he said. "You're welcome to come back and visit after Halloween, when things around here are a lot less scary," he offered. "But in the meantime... well, happy Halloween."
An aura of darkness surrounded her, fitting for what she would someday evolve into, and as she strolled off towards the Pokémon Center of Terror, Keith vaguely wondered how that would go. Myrtle might have been better off holding back with the previous guest, but this time, Keith doubted Myrtle would be able to faze Attila very much even when going all-out.
And go all-out Myrtle did! As soon as Attila entered the Pokémon Center, she would find it to be... smaller than she'd likely have pictured? Weird, yes, but hardly something worth getting all scared over. And then came the fright, or at least the attempt thereof- six Poké Balls on the healing machine exploding open, unleashing half a dozen gigantic Pokémon, easily larger than the norms of their respective species, and certainly larger than Attila- so big they reduced the Pokémon Center roof to rubble that crashed down all around Atilla as they stood in a circle around Atilla, looking down condescendingly at her, mocking her. A Tsareena, a Nidoqueen, a Kingler, a Politoed, a Serperior, and a Vespiquen. Now, if this wasn't gonna bother Atilla because she figured she'd be obviously superior to them once fully evolved, she needed only look down at herself to realize just why the Pokémon Center seemed so small- she WAS fully evolved! She had become a Tyranitar somehow, and was still dwarved by these regal Pokémon who looked down at her and scoffed. Any attempt at launching an attack at them would fail, as well, as though none of them so much as felt the attacks. And then, as soon as there was enough time for Attila to react to this development, it all faded away. The Pokémon Center was intact, empty, and normal-sized, and Attila was still a Larvitar. The only trace of anything unnatural was an echoing eerie cackle as Attila grabbed the Front Door Key. Myrtle found the Larvitar to be an interesting one.
Attila's next stop was the S.S. Bloodbath, where her short stature would work to her advantage- crawling low to the deck gave her maximum visibility in the eerie Mist... but then, considering what awaited her there, was that really for the best? Dark shadows, with not an earthly soul in sight to cast them, shot across the deck in all directions, some of them coming extremely close to Attila, and in such instances she would feel an ominous chill. Well, I say ominous- your mileage may vary. Indeed, it was doubtful that just that would be enough to frighten Attila, considering just what she'd done the last Halloween. Below deck, things were a bit easier for her- the webs were no match for the Larvitar powering through, and in some cases, hacking and slashing her way through. Stealth Rock really did make for some handy disposable knives, didn't it?
With two keys down and one to go, Attila continued onward to the Loony, Loopy Lighthouse. However, the inherent trickery and overall chaotic nature of the place made for some... less than desirable results. The shifting gravity got Attila falling straight up to the ceiling, practically into the ceiling as she shielded her noggin from impact with Iron Head, which had the unfortunate side effect of putting a hole in said ceiling. She was able to find her way through trial and error, but not without causing a bit more unintentional property damage. The Murkrow that eyed Attila taking the key had half a mind to blast her with Confuse Ray, but thought better of it- she'd damaged this place enough as it was without being confused. If she was actively confused? Want didn't want to imagine.
Finally, the Petrifying Palace. Attila was first met by a Dusknoir who tried to take her back to the entrance, only to be force-fed a Dark Pulse. Peeves was taken aback and pushed back by the move, but very quickly decided that if that little Larvitar wanted a fight, then she'd get one! At least, until he calmed down a bit, remembering his instructions- he wasn't to actually harm anyone in the process of bringing them back to the entrance. That said, he knew he didn't want this to be over yet, so he pretended to concede defeat, letting Attila continue. Fatale showed no fear at the sight of the Rock/Ground-type, letting out her trilling cry as she dive-bombed her, missing by but an inch, completely on purpose so as to allow her an opportunity to move forward. Nothing held her up in the kitchen, but the dining room was a whole other swarm of Yanma- Attila was accosted by a Seviper, a Carnivine (who at this point had not yet gone off to the Hatchery along with the love of his life, though that was coming up soon afterwards!), and a hungry-looking Duddigon who looked like he could eat rocks. All three were rebuffed by Attila's Crunch and Superpower attacks. This caused quite the fight to break out, which Marvolo eventually broke up by Wrapping his coils around the Larvitar, fixing her with a murderous Glare, and informing her in no uncertain terms that they could kill her if they were so inclined. He let her go after this, even providing her a glass of Cheri juice to deal with that paralysis, and a small grin betraying his respect for her potential. All of this culminated when Attila entered the living room... only to get ambushed by Peeves! The Dusknoir had been biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment, and Peeves was able to drag the Larvitar back to the entrance! So there went Attila through the house all over again... she did make it to the Rare Candy this time, though.
*Attila obtained a Rare Candy!*
Picking up this candy, with thanks.
Scolipede Announcement!
As of today, my Secret Base has been renovated. This is now how the base is laid out.
Following the destruction of the Poisonous Paradise during the Stewie incident, Keith was in need of a new Secret Base- a new home. Fortunately, a silver lining showed itself in the wake of the Shadow Ledian's trail of wanton destruction- a great deal of rocks and dead trees were destroyed near the Salt Wave Coast, while Keith's beloved boat, which had been docked nearby, went unscathed. Moreover, the destruction of all this rubble left a rather sizable clearing overlooking the Sea of Fizzytopia. This inspired Keith to rebuild his Secret Base, bigger and better than ever before. He claimed the entire clearing, renamed it the Sludge Wave Coast, and did everything he could to make it his own. He always welcomes visitors to his property, whether they come by land or by sea.
The following areas are available to visitors to the Sludge Wave Coast;
Shadow Clearing
Named for the fact that the clearing was formed by heinously powerful Shadow moves, the Shadow Clearing is a wide-open space for people and Pokémon to move around. This entire clearing is basically Keith's front yard, but by no means should you fear him telling you to get off his property- in fact, it has become much more than his front yard, with two more residents setting up homes of their own there. They won't tell you to get off their property, either, so no need to worry.
Areas:
Battlefield: A simple battlefield with the boundaries clearly marked in the ground. If the weather is good, odds are you'll see Keith training his Pokémon around here, or even battling someone else. If you yourself want to battle Keith, this is the place to do it.
Fountain: Not far from the Pokémon Center, you can see a nice fountain. Some of Keith's smaller Water-types can be seen splashing around in here on occasion. In fact, if you have anything that could conceivably splash around in there, feel free to let it do so.
The Truck: Just a pickup truck. Keith has keys for it, and does know how to drive it, but he vastly prefers his Scolipede as a means of transportation. While there's nothing underneath it, Jack the Ditto will occasionally be found relaxing beneath it, for reasons even he cannot really fathom.
The Poisonous Pier: A wooden dock overlooking the Sea of Fizzytopia. This is where the Banette's Revenge is docked, and also where any visitors are encouraged to dock their own boats, should they arrive by sea.
The Poisonous Palace
The grandiose successor to the Poisonous Paradise. No longer bound by arcane laws that state that his Secret Base need be built in a tree, nor by the old Base Shop's incredibly limited selection, Keith found the freedom to construct his Secret Base completely to his liking. Though the Pokémon Center is now a separate area, the mansion still consists of three floors (and, notably, is now devoid of any secret underground evil lairs).
1f:
The ground floor of the Secret Base. In terms of overall layout, it's not especially different from Keith's old Secret Base. However, one would immediately notice that the entire interior has a decidedly more grandiose appearance to it. The whole place is bigger, more roomy, and now has high enough ceilings to comfortably accommodate some of Keith's larger Pokémon, such as his Scolipede, Venusaur, and Hariyama. Bringing the likes of Onix and Steelix, however, still not recommended.
Areas:
Entrance Hall: A long, wide corridor running from the front of the base all the way to the back. At the northernmost end of the hall, one will find the stairs to the second floor, the elevator, and a PC. In this hall are the doors leading to all the rooms on the first floor. It also contains several closets and the downstairs bathroom, the doors for all of which are cleverly camouflaged. On either side of the entrance, one will see a pair of Snoverberry trees. These trees, which Hermione was able to grow with the Snoverberries she acquired from an old teammate, always bear delicious Snoverberries. There are Snoverberry trees in nearly every room and corridor in the house, and guests are invited to snack on them at their leisure.
Living Room: The first door on your right, the living room contains a few seats, a large table, and an aquarium for all but the largest of aquatic Pokémon to enjoy a relaxing swim in. Keith frequently allows his Blue-Striped Basculin, Stunfisk, Qwilfish, Binacle, Wishiwashi, and Chinchou to swim around in here, so if your Pokémon is up to taking a dip, odds are they'll encounter at least one of them. Mounted on the wall above the coffee table is a massive TV, which also doubles as a videophone, as do all the television sets in the Base. These TVs even enable communication with any room in the house. There is also a fireplace, above which is mounted the remains of Neville the Stunfisk, who Keith had taken to a taxidermist- he keeps this as a reminder of his previous failings as a Trainer and as a person, the better to try and not repeat them. There is also a door leading to the dining room, and in a few corners, there are some Snoverberry trees.
Indoor Pool Room: The first door on your left, this room contains Keith's large indoor swimming pool. It was constructed partly as something for guests to use if they so felt inclined, and partly to accommodate aquatic Pokémon that the aquarium cannot, such as Keith's Blastoise, Feraligatr, Dragalge, Starmie, Seismitoad, Shiny Toxapex, and Tentacruel, as well as his Wishiwashi whenever he goes into School Form. Indeed, the pool is spacious enough to easily contain any aquatic Pokémon not named Wailord. There are also some seats in the room in case you would rather sit and watch than swim yourself, and a door in the north wall leads to the kitchen.
Kitchen: Second door on the left, the kitchen is where all the food is prepared. The addition of a toaster oven has given Hermione more possibilities in her cooking, though she still likes to use Firestream to do most of her cooking. She has a wide, spacious counter on which to prepare meals, and there are a pair of teleporters in there, allowing direct transportation to the dining room or the Battle Room. Hermione, Cotton, and occasionally Shelley can usually be found in here prior to mealtimes, making sure everything's ready. And if you follow your nose upon entering at the right time, you just might be able to bear witness to Hermione and Cotton's cooking skills firsthand.
Dining Room: Second door on the right, this room consists of a long table and numerous chairs. Keith usually takes his meals in the living room, or right in the kitchen, but when he has company, this is where they would all eat. A convenient teleporter allows food to be brought in directly from the kitchen without having to obstruct the entrance hall whatsoever.
2f:
This floor contains numerous rooms that provide several ways to pass the time. It is where visitors are generally invited to hang out, whether they like to read, battle, or play games. There's always plenty to do on this floor, and should a guest wish to stay the night, this room's got that covered as well.
Areas:
Hallway: A long, wide corridor running from the back of the house to the front, just like the entrance hall downstairs. The northernmost end is where the stairs and elevator can be found. The stairs going up from this floor are usually off-limits to visitors, for they lead directly to Keith's bedroom. A pair of Snoverberry trees mark the halfway point of the hallway, and as with any other Snoverberry trees in the house, their berries may be picked and eaten by any visitors as they please.
Guest Bedroom: First door on the left. This room has been set up with a bed, a nightstand, a fan, a comfortable sofa, some books, a fireplace, a huge TV, and a Snoverberry tree. If any guests to Keith's Secret Base wish to spend the night, this is the room in which they would do so. Keith keeps this room very well-maintained, wanting to ensure it's ready for whenever it may end up being needed.
Battle Room: First door on the right. This room has been set up with an elevated platform for the specific purpose of holding Pokémon battles. Trainers stand at either end, and the spacious platform is where the battles unfold. Seats have been provided in the room for the convenience of any spectators. The platform is much more spacious than in the previous iteration of this room, and between the sturdy construction and high ceilings, one can actually use the likes of Onix or Steelix to battle in this room. Still wouldn't suggest something like Wailord, though. This room generally only sees use when Keith has guests, but it is also where he and Meowth will train his Pokémon on rainy days (and thus days when training outside is not an option). It also features options for snacks for competitors and spectators alike, in the form of two Snoverberry trees, and a teleporter leading to the kitchen.
Game Room: Second door on the left. In this room, the usual huge TV has a GameCube hooked up to it, and the nearby bookcase contains numerous games for it. Also in the room, besides a PC, there are also several video game machines lined up along the wall, and two pool tables in there as well. For anyone wanting to take a break, there's a sofa and a Snoverberry tree.
Hermione's Library: Second door on the right. Numerous large bookcases fill up this room. The library contains mostly notebooks full of notes taken by Keith's Weedle on various subjects, but also includes other books. Either way, perusing the bookshelves can be an educational experience. If she's not cooking, Hermione can generally be found in here, reading. That said, Keith has also been known to come in here to read every so often. Chuck, Keith's Gengar, and Liliana, one of Keith's Dusknoir, have also been known to, ahem, haunt this place on occasion. Near the south end of the room, there are several PCs for those who may need to use them, as well as a table and chairs for those who wish to take a seat and read at their leisure, perhaps while snacking on Snoverberries.
3f:
This floor, the topmost floor of the Poisonous Palace, is kind of a throwback to Keith's original Secret Base- namely, in that the topmost floor consists of a single bedroom. Unlike that iteration, however, this room is huge.
Areas:
Keith's Bedroom:
A big, big, huge step up from Keith's old bedroom. His usual double bed is flanked by a pair of nightstands with fans atop them to keep things cool on warm nights. There is a fireplace, a GameCube hooked up to the TV, and several sofas and tables. This big, spacious room serves as sleeping quarters not only for Keith, but for many of his Pokémon as well. There is also a washing machine, allowing for Keith to keep on top of things in terms of laundry.
Helena's Pokémon Center
As a step up from having their Pokémon Center be the ground floor of Keith's house, with a healing machine (admittedly cleverly) fashioned out of an old tire, part of Keith's major additions to Sludge Wave Coast was a proper Pokémon Center for Helena and Rubeus to work in. Selia the Musharna has also opted to work in this Pokémon Center, as has Help the Comfey.
Main Lobby:
Welcome to the Pokémon Center! If you have any understanding of Pokémon Centers whatsoever, the overall layout of this one should be no mystery to you. Those who enter are unfailingly greeted by the friendly smile of the blue-eyed Banette behind the counter (unless she's traveling with Keith and has called in a Nurse Joy to cover for her, of course).
Areas:
Counter: Your Pokémon not so fighting fit? Easily fixed. Simply approach the counter, and entrust your Poké Balls to the Banette behind the counter. A minute or two in the healing machine and your trusted partners will be good as new! And if it's a slow day, feel free to strike up a conversation with Helena- she's always up for a nice chat.
Waiting Area: If the Center is particularly busy and just waiting at the counter isn't an option, there are several seats and a table for your convenience, to the left of the entrance. So take a seat, take a load off, maybe even grab a book from the bookcase to the left of the counter beforehand.
Whitefin Fountain: This charming little fountain is where Rubeus the Stunfisk likes to swim whenever he's working with Helena. Those who know the unfortunate stereotype of the mischievous prankster Stunfisk are usually quite pleasantly surprised by the courteous and caring Stunfisk they find swimming in this fountain. With a number of unusual healing techniques at his disposal, talking to Rubeus can even prove therapeutic, both to you and your Pokémon. Often, Help can be found floating around, providing a calming, therapeutic aroma to the already peaceful environment.
Back Room:
This room is reserved for the relaxation of the more exhausted visitors to the Center, both human and Pokémon. Relatively simple, this room consists merely of a trio of beds. When Selia is working in the Pokémon Center, this room is where she tends to be.
Areas:
Beds: These three beds are exquisitely comfortable, and if you're tired, feel free to take a snooze in one of them. While you sleep, Selia the Musharna will happily munch on any nightmares that might threaten to beplague you in your sleep, ensuring you wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested.
Toxic Lighthouse
Erected once Keith realized that while he could navigate his boat at night due to having Pokémon that knew Flash, surely not every other sailor was as lucky. Wishing to avert shipwreck, he helped construct the Toxic Lighthouse to keep the Sludge Wave Coast a safe and shipwreck-free location.
1f:
The lighthouse's ground floor. It's rather plain, consisting of several machines, a shelf full of tools for maintaining the lighthouse, and a switch on the floor which opens up the door to the stairs. The switch can only be activated by authorized personnel- namely, Keith, and any of his Pokémon. However, one of them might be persuaded to bring a guest up to the top floor.
2f:
The top floor of the lighthouse. While normally only open to authorized personnel, the switch for the lighthouse's light is likewise only able to be activated by authorized personnel, minimizing the risk of unexpected guests accidentally or intentionally shutting off the light at an inopportune moment. Generally, guests are actually kinda encouraged to go up and look around, for this provides a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
The Banette's Revenge
Built by Keith and his Pokémon years ago, originally for a specific mission, the Banette's Revenge remains a favored means of aquatic transportation for Keith. A very well-constructed vessel, she has proven herself repeatedly over many voyages, and has endured harsh storms, pirate attacks, and even nearly getting swallowed by a Wailord. She can also move at great speeds, so if Keith tells you to hold onto something, you better damn well hold onto something.
Above Deck:
Ahoy, mateys! When you come aboard the Banette's Revenge, you'll wind up here first and foremost. The deck is very spacious, and while normally empty, Keith will provide any number of chairs and tables as end up being necessary. On sunny days, there is truly no better place to be when at sea.
Areas:
The Deck: The deck of the Banette's Revenge is very spacious. Generally not much happens, here, but if your goal is relaxation, that can be a good thing. Ask Keith for a chair and he'll gladly provide one, allowing you to kick back, relax, maybe work on your tan a bit. And you can always rely on the sturdy guardrails to keep you from falling overboard... usually. Sometimes the sea gets a bit rough, so caution is always advisable.
The Helm: Elevated above the deck, Keith stands at these controls and gets her underway. One must climb one of two ladders in order to get up to this area, so not every one of Keith's Pokémon can necessarily accompany him up here, unless he sends them out after climbing the ladder himself. It affords Keith a beautiful view of the sea ahead of him, allowing him to navigate with confidence.
Inside:
You know how the deck near the stern is elevated? This is what's directly underneath it. This small room offers quick relief should a storm spring up.
Areas:
Healing Area: This is the closest there is to a Pokémon Center on board this ship. There is a self-service healing machine, a PC, and a few seats, so both Trainer and Pokémon can get some rest and relaxation in a pinch.
Below Deck:
This is what's directly underneath the deck. A simple hallway leading into several different rooms.
Areas:
Hallway: There is a short corridor beneath the deck of the Banette's Revenge. Several doors in said corridor lead to various cabins, among other things.
Cabins 1-3: The first three doors to the left each lead to a different cabin. If you're on a voyage with Keith, odds are one of these rooms will be your sleeping quarters. Like the guest bedroom in the Poisonous Palace, Keith keeps these cabins in good shape, always ready for them to see use if need be. Each one contains a bed, a table, a chair, and a Snoverberry tree.
Captain's Quarters: Keith's own personal cabin. When at sea, this is where he sleeps and takes his meals. Guests generally aren't allowed in, but exceptions can be and have been made.
The Galley: This big, spacious kitchen is where the meals are prepared aboard this ship. As one could guess, Hermione almost always comes on these voyages, along with Cotton and sometimes Shelley, to help prepare some truly delicious meals to enjoy at sea.
House of Alph
A strange, one-story dwelling found a little ways behind the Pokémon Center. And to Terri Alph, this is home. Its odd construction, both inside and out, can throw visitors for a loop, but once one gets past the strangeness, the place seems quite hospitable.
1f:
Terri Alph's humble abode. She keeps it simple- a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a bedroom that's completely off-limits to visitors unless she says different. The place's overall motif makes it look something like an old ruin, and not unlike old ruins, there may be more to it than meets the eye... Just not in terms of size, so you may want to keep your larger Pokémon outside or in their balls for this one.
Areas:
Living Room: Walk in through the front door, and you're there. There is but a single long couch, and a stone coffee table separating said couch from the TV, clock, and fireplace. A large flowering plant is to the right, and off in a corner, a seemingly unusable warp tile. Small, yes, but it suits Terri, and she's sure to make you feel right at home.
Dining Room: To the left of the living room, it consists of a long table set with a number of chairs. Again, there's not a lot to this room, but it works well for its intended purpose. If Terri's invited you to dinner, this is where you'll be eating. And your Pokémon will be encouraged to join the humans at the table, in chairs of their own, rather than taking their meals in dishes on the floor. Be sure to expect it, because for sure Terri's Pokémon will be doing this.
Kitchen: The northern exit from the dining room leads- where else?- to the kitchen. Not a large room, but the measure of a kitchen isn't its size, but rather the food that comes out of it. And make no mistake, with that in mind, Terri's kitchen measures up beautifully.
Puzzle Room: To the right of the living room is this odd little room. A steel door to the north guards the entrance to Terri's bedroom. You cannot get through it without Terri's express permission and you would be unwise to try. The only things of note in this room are the ladder to the basement and the odd puzzle setup, inviting guests to try and solve a puzzle consisting of stone tiles to form the picture of a prehistoric Pokémon. It's not impossible to solve, but doing so might result in more than you bargained for...
Terri & Laugh's Bedroom: This is where Terri and her girlfriend spend their nights together. You cannot enter here without Terri's permission, and attempting to do so is not just futile, but also stupid. Don't do it.
b1f:
A small underground portion of the house, Terri's basement doesn't have much to offer... unless you like battles, that is. There is more to the basement than just that, but it's nothing the general public will get to see, not without Laugh's permission.
Areas:
Battle Basement: This is why you came down here- Terri's homemade arena for subterranean Pokémon fights! Being built for battles, this basement is quite large, so don't feel shy about sending out those Onix or Steelix. Nobody is quite sure what manner of magic, technology, or unholy combination of the previous two are at work to make this happen, but moves such as Earthquake and Rock Slide can be used down here with no negative consequences, and the light fixtures constitute a sufficient substitute for sunlight for moves with such requirements.
Strange Pillar: A large pillar just behind the PC. It serves no apparent structural purpose, and if asked about it, Terri will simply give a mysterious smile and change the subject. However, occasionally a scream can be faintly heard from within, as though someone was falling down...
Laugh's Studio: Only accessible from Terri's bedroom. Which you need her permission to enter. And to add to that, you need Laugh's permission to go down to her studio, which is not guaranteed simply by getting Terri's permission to enter her room. This perpetually chilly cavern is where Laugh goes to create ice, and create with ice. She makes exquisite ice sculptures, but low self-confidence led to her limiting this to a room normally only accessible to herself and her girlfriend. Seriously, don't try and get in here without permission. Shy and quiet as Laugh is, you don't want to piss her off.
b2f:
A strange chamber far below the House of Alph. Solve the sliding stone puzzle, and down you go. Find the warp panel, and back to the living room you go. But what will you discover in the meantime?
Areas:
Terri's Ruins:
A mini-labyrinth of old, slightly crumbling stone walls, etched with strange markings. A place that has great meaning to Terri. What exactly this meaning is, is something you'll have to find out for yourself.
Shiny Hunter's Shack
A one-story house, with no frills, nothing fancy... except maybe the gigantic battle facility growing out of its side. But yeah- Gavin keeps it simple, and if you don't like it, you can fuck off. His words, not mine.
Gavin's House:
Gavin Golurkson's humble abode. Terri keeps it simple, Gavin keeps it even simpler. There is all of two rooms to this house, and only one of them is accessible unless Gavin says otherwise.
Areas:
Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen: Three rooms for the price of one- Gavin entertains guests, makes meals, and eats all in the same room, and is armed to the gills with snarky comebacks for anyone who has a problem with that. For those who don't have a problem with it, however, you'll find Gavin to be a friendly host, if a little rough around the edges. But hey- born and raised in Pyrite Town, what else could you expect?
Gavin's Bedroom: To the right is Gavin's sleeping quarters. Keep out unless he's given you permission. Seriously. This guy's done part time work as the Trainer-Only Nightclub's bouncer, and he's damn good at it.
Sludge Wave Colosseum
One of the great aspects of life in Fizzytopia is that it attracts Trainers from every corner of the world of Pokémon, and in doing so, brings together many different ways of doing things from all different regions. This is no exception- when Gavin built his house on Sludge Wave Coast, he also introduced the concept of the Colosseum Challenge from his native region of Orre. Thus came the Sludge Wave Colosseum, which Gavin owns and operates.
Main Lobby:
A simple little lobby, the layout of which would be familiar to anyone who's ever taken part in a Colosseum Challenge in Gavin's hometown of Pyrite. Here, prospective competitors can get their teams ready, and register to compete. The door to the right leads to Gavin's house as well- just knock first. It's common courtesy.
Areas:
Reception Desk: Step right up, speak to the nice receptionist, and register for the next Colosseum Challenge! All battles held in Sludge Wave Colosseum are double battles, so make sure your team is ready for that. If you're not ready when you step in, you got a healing machine to your left, some PCs to your right... what you don't have is excuses.
Arena:
Where the lobby is simple and little, the arena is large and grandiose, with abundant seating surrounding the sunken area in which the battling all goes down.
Areas:
Battlefield: Step right up and go for it! When it's your turn to battle, take your position on one side of the battlefield, pick two Poké Balls, let 'em fly, and let the Pokémon fight commence! The roof of the arena opens up during battles, allowing Flying-types a lot more freedom, but will be closed during bad weather, for the sake of the spectators. Weather moves, of course, can still be used indoors without inflicting said weather on the spectators, so if weather factors into your strategy, all is not lost.
Seating: Secret passageways accessed through the back entrance of the Sludge Wave Colloseum allow you access to the comfortable seating, giving you a lovely view of the action.
This does not retcon any currently ongoing storylines, but any newly started storylines moving forward are to take these changes into consideration.
While the Pokémon Center seemed pretty normal at first glance, a few things about this one would likely stand out. For one thing, an exhausted-looking Trainer was sitting on the edge of a large fountain. Not unusual in and of itself- the unusual part came when a white-finned Stunfisk surfaced nearby, and sent a Soft-Boiled attack at aforementioned Trainer, which seemed to refresh him immensely. And for another thing, the counter was staffed not by the usual Nurse Joy, but by a blue-eyed Banette. At that moment, she was floating above the healing machine, plucking a variety of Poké Balls off of it, and handing them back to the man before her.
"There you go, Gavin," smiled Helena. "They're as good as new."
"Thanks, Helena," the Trainer nodded. Then, with a glance, he saw that someone else had entered, and so he stepped off to the side.
"Hello," Helena greeted Rory. "Welcome to our Pokémon Center. Would you like me to heal your Pokémon?" Then, a glance at the dead Farfetch'd. "You've been in the forest near here, I take it?" she asked. "You're not the first one to have trouble with those Farfetch'd. What did that one do?"
Entering the centre, the youth saw nothing out of the ordinary initially. There was some tired guy sitting at a fountain, and some sort of puppet thing at the front desk, but on a second glance the puppet wasn't a toy or anything. No, that was definitely some sort of pokemon, and looking back at the guy some sort of brown fishlike creature with white fins emerged from said fountain and let loose some sort of glowy thing at him. A glowy thing that seemed to energize him, judging by how fast exhaustion wore off. He was then surprised when the blue eyed puppet pokemon - was that a Banette - spoke to the guy, apparently called Gavin, in perfect english.
"Bwuh...I-I mean, uh...wait..." he stammered, clearly not used to the concept of talking pokemon. "Forest? Uh...oh, right! Well, this bird caught us by surprise, and, um, took off with our food and dropped the bag into some brambles - uh, sorry, it's just you're, uh, talking and, uh, th-that just took me by surprise..."
"Pod?"
"Right, sorry. So we kinda lost a couple days food, and, er, I kinda remembered that Farfetch'd were meant to be tasty, so...er...we sorta hunted it down...I think we're okay...?" Peeking round to his trio, he saw the Masquerain was fairly comfortable, though Spriggan was a bit on the scruffy side and as for his Wimpod, they had a couple of small nicks in their carapace. "Aw jeez, it kinda did a number...but we've had worse. I'm just glad it wasn't anything worse..."
Rubbing his head, he turned to the Banette once more, Farfetch'd dangling on the twine. "Uh...this place have a medical waste bay? I've had experience dressing game birds, and uh, I kinda want to prep this one for dinner before it starts to smell..." he paused for a brief moment, before looking out the window. "Where are we anyways?"
