Alright, Pawniard, try and aim for a weak spot! Start with Dark Pulse (80 BP, +1 critical hit rate from held Shadow Lance)!

I've got a drawing I wanna make for this Raid, but who knows if I'll actually get around to doing so. Anyway, enjoy this complimentary Night Slash (70 BP; boosted by BlackGlasses) in the meantime!

PJ and Lemon walked into the Saccharine Sweets Gym, ready for the upcoming raid. Again, like clockwork, dynamax energies had gone wild and infected Pokemon at these Power Spots, causing a lot of chaos and putting the local people and Pokemon in potential danger, requiring outside raiders to take up the fight to calm these Pokemon down. Despite his youth, PJ had engaged in quite a number of these raids by now, and he was well informed about these phenomenon. It was something he enjoyed learning about, so he took every opportunity to engage in these battles. Not only did he like the learning opportunity, but if his actions saved people and Pokemon from any measure of harm, that was absolutely a good thing in his mind. The Pokemon going crazy also often seemed to want the raiders to win, possibly a subconscious desire to minimize the harm they could do. They always seemed so relieved when they were finally taken down.
The raid boss here a Saccharine Sweets this time around was a Duosion. Quite the gooey Pokemon. PJ consulted his PokeDex on this odd Pokemon. "Duosion. A Psychic type Pokemon, and the evolution o Solosis. When their brains, now divided in two, are thinking the same thoughts, these Pokémon exhibit their maximum power." It didn't look too smart to PJ, but he supposed appearances weren't everything. Regardless, it definitely looked like it could be a threat. He spent a moment running through the data on its notable common movepool. Interestingly, both Iron Defense and Acid Armor to shore up its defense. Calm Mind for another potent boosting move. Both basic screens, as well as some very potent damaging moves like Thunder, Rock Slide, Flash Cannon, Psychic, and Energy Ball. In addition, some odd moves like Encore, Gravity, Steel Roller, and Telekinesis. It could definitely prove tricky, but he thought he probably had a pretty good idea of how to play this. He pulled out one of his numerous Friend Balls, making his Pokemon selection to use in the raid. "Spewpa, come on out!" He tossed out the ball, sending the small silky cocoon bug out. "Spew spew?" It looked around inquisitively. "You're my choice for this battle, Spewpa. I think you'll do really well here." Being a Bug, his same type moves would be very strong against the Duosion, but there was another major thing at play here. Spewpa's ability would be a massive asset here. His Friend Guard was quite the rare ability. He exuded a strange sort of aura, which energised the defenses of all his allies, making them take less damage from all of the Dusion's moves so long as he was conscious. A lot like the tales of paladins of old PJ had been told. "Okay, Spewpa, let's go ahead and start off with a Pollen Puff!" A pretty strong move of his favourite type, and an extremely useful one at that, being able to heal an ally or be directed at the foe for damage, it was likely PJ wouldn't have to call for another move this entire fight. But he did have backup options in place, especially if he found himself in a dire spot and his Spewpa's Friend Guard was needed still. The raiders' wave of offense seemed to deal quite the blow to the gooey Pokemon, and it set up its first wave of odd barriers before Spewpa could even get his hit in. PJ didn't mind. Whether dealing damage or taking care of shields, he was still making an impact. Although looking around, it did appear that most of the attacks being thrown about were weaker than his own. One of the attacks, a Snarling attack, had lowered the Duosion boss's Special Attacking prowess, making it form a link with one of the Pawniard there, swapping that debuff to it. It then fired off a multicoloured bream at the Shiftry, which erupted into a massive flock of colourful butterflies as it hit. PJ easily recognised that move, a Max Flutterby, and on the target that would be hurt worst by it. The residual energy also lowered the Special Attacking capabilities of some of the raiders. The Pawniard it had passed the previous debuff to got caught in it, but it was showing a strong Defiance to it, sharply improving its physical prowess in turn. It then cascaded a large amount of rocks across multiple Pokemon, including Spewpa. Despite the weakness to the move, Spewpa seemed to be doing fine, thankfully.
There had been a lot of damage taken by the raiders as a whole, but only a couple of them seemed to take much individually. That Max Flutterby on Shiftry had PJ a bit concerned. It was almost certainly off of Signal Beam, a kind of weak move, but it was still a bit of a concern. Though seeing the Pawniard's reaction to the debuff, it might be discouraged from doing it again in the future. Did he maybe need to use his pollen to provide healing? PJ had to think about it for a second. The Shiftry had taken the worst type of move it could have, a Max Bug move, but honestly, it seemed to still be doing fine despite that. It was severely weak to the type, but Spewpa's aura of friendship seemed to help take enough of the edge off. He should probably just continue with the offense. The barriers the Duosion had up needed to be dealt with anyway. He could always provide healing later if the situation got more dire, he sopposed. "Spewpa, shoot off another Pollen Puff at the goo monster's shields!" PJ ordered out to his Pokemon OoC: Pollen Puff (90 BP) Last edited by Slash; 10-13-2021 at 09:48 PM. |

Dynamax Boss Duosion ★★★ Health Gauge: 67% Shields Up: 0 Status: -1 Defense, -1 Special Defense Attack 1: Max Flutterby (130 BP) Attack 2: Signal Beam (75 BP) Attack 3: Thunder (110 BP) Raid Challengers:
Seeing a sitting duck, good baby channels its inner insect and uses another Max Flutterby, chunking the Shiftry for a massive amount of damage, though it triggers both Pawniards' defiants while doing so. It then fells the tengu tree with a Signal Beam, before using a THunder. It manages to hit the Spewpa, doing respectable damage to it. Though, it has a feeling it's about to take a lot of damage. Dynamax Initiative: myahoo, Houndour

The shields were shattered hard by the raiders' attacks, making only an Iron Head actually strike true on the Dynamax boss Pokemon. It was definitely looking worse for the wear, past its first round of shields and clearly having its defensive prowess compromised. There should be another round of shields not too far off, but it was sure to take quite the beating before that time came around.
It actually did use another Max Flutterby, and by chance, it again hit the Shiftry. That was quite strange luck. However, this again triggered the Defiant ability of the Pawniard, as well as the second's same ability, making both severely larger threats for the boss. Another Bug move from the Duosion, a regular old Signal Beam this time, somehow struck true on the Shiftry once more, making its Bug moves three for three on hitting the most furtunate possible target for it (and the least fortunate for the raiding squad), and finally felling the Shiftry. This was so surprising that the follow up, a massive Thunder, blasting Spewpa, seemed far less notable. Thankfully, though, the hit seemed to have not inflicted paralysis on the bug. That could have been an issue. Maybe the Shiftry's temporary inaction, as it hadn't done anything in that round, had, as they say, "drawn aggro" from the Duosion, making it a target. There didn't seem much to do here but continue on the offense. He couldn't have Spewpa Pollen Puff himself, it didn't quite work that way, and had the Shiftry not been hit with that second move, he'd be healing him up, but for now, it looked like there wasn't much utility in healing here. The sheer damage output he could contribute, especially having not been hit by the Special Attack debuff from either Max Flutterby, probably outweighed the healing benefits at the time. Though he'd have to make a mental note later to make sure he had a physical option for Spewpa at a later point. Perhaps he'd invest in teaching him Leech Life later on. The Shiftry should be back up soon, but as there were no shields up, its trainer would probably use their cheer to provide some healing. PJ's spewpa was the Pokemon most hurt at the moment, so it's likely the cheer would be directed at him. So he would be fine, most likely, and the Duosion was facing down a massive problem of its own creation: two Dark Pokemon who had received substantial boosting as a side effect of its Max Flutterbys. The species tended to be most oriented to physical combat anyway, so the trade off of their special attack being debuffed for the enormous physically offensive buff was probably not going to hinder them much. PJ wouldn't be surprised if the Duosion called upon the Dynamax storm's power soon to create a massive shockwave to clear all that away, as well as put Spewpa's Friend Guard out of commission temporarily. Though that would also mean foregoing the damage it sorely needed to deal to prevail. "Spewpa!" PJ ordered. "Another Pollen Puff on the Duosion!"
