A storm looms overhead Slumbering Wilds, blotting black clouds rolling across the sky and bringing a foreboding sense of danger to the normally picturesque enclave. Dark purple light mixes within the fulminating encroachment, the sparse trickles of illumination only serving to amplify the heavy atmosphere. As the clouds begin to rumble with thunder, a ghastly wail echoes throughout the Wilds, a hollow thud punctuating the sudden exclamation as an engorged tree stump forces nearby trees to buckle, appearing seemingly from nowhere. From within two carved holes ominous crimson eyes flicker to life, and with a cackling announcement Phantump looms over the stricken onlookers. Sweeney does his best to control his panicking Pokemon, mocked incessantly by Jabberwocky perched among a tree bough - though the Impidimp is not laughing for long, a stray tremor knocking him from his perch. Despite the chaos, Sophie manages to once again put out the call for emergency reinforcements. The Wilds had only just managed to recover from their previous incursion, the last thing they needed was a playful poltergeist hindering recovery efforts.

The Slumbering Wilds Pokémon Gym. Just last month, it had played host to a literal mountain of garbage- a Gigantamax Garbodor. And among the Trainers who had arrived to tackle it was one Keith Masters, whose remarkable Normal Form Stunfisk... despite not having any chance whatsoever to perform in his intended role... nevertheless played an instrumental part in their victory that day. And now, that same Trainer was on his way, and there could be no doubt that while his wife and daughter weren't along for the ride this time, he was arriving in style.

The sound of rapid hoofbeats would be the others' first clue that someone was coming. Said hoofbeats were getting louder and louder, as their source drew nearer and nearer. Until finally, he arrived- Keith Golbatson Masters himself, complete with his usual Mega Hat on his head, and a Dynamax Band on his wrist. His trusty Meowth rode in the usual spot on his shoulder, and Keith himself also had a ride this time. But not the usual dark grey, red-eyed Scolipede. No, cool as Salazar was, he was not who Keith intended to use against this arboreal giant. No, Keith's ride this time was Sunfire, a Normal Form Ponyta he'd caught during one of his several brushes with time travel, and she was the one Keith intended to use in this instance.

"So it's just us here dis time, huh?" Meowth said to Keith as they rode up to the Phantump.

"Yep," Keith nodded. "Willa's been promising Mienfoo this training day for a while now, and Maribel wanted to train with Emboar and Magmortar today. It's just you, me, and Sunfire today." Sunfire, the Ponyta, neighed in response, just as Keith climbed off of her back.

"Sunfire's rarin' ta go," Meowth translated. He paused, listening as Sunfire neighed a little more, sounding a bit less certain. "...well, rarin' ta go, but also a little freaked out about dat Phantump we's up against," Meowth amended.

"Ooh, right," Keith murmured as he came to the realization. "Dynamax wasn't exactly a thing in ancient Fizzytopia, was it? And this is Sunfire's first time seeing this sort of raid battle... It's fine, Sunfire," he said, patting the Ponyta reassuringly. "That Phantump has Dynamaxed- basically, the location we're at is what's called a Power Spot, it's filled with this mysterious energy that can make Pokémon temporarily grow larger. Sometimes, a Pokémon can take in too much Dynamax Energy at once, resulting in... this," he said, gesturing to the Phantump. "When this happens, the alert goes out, and Pokémon Trainers from across the land gather to try and beat them in battle so they'll go back to normal. And one of us will get to Dynamax our own Pokémon, too- but in a much more controlled way than what's going on with the Phantump," he added reassuringly. "So what do you say? Think we got this?"

Sunfire was quiet for a moment, still looking wary at the sight of the abnormally large stump. But Keith had always known his stuff before, she reminded herself. He was the one having to teach her all about the strange wonders of this futuristic time she now called home. This was just another one of those strange wonders. She'd been able to get used to it all thus far, why not this one? Finally, she gave a nod and a determined whinny.

"That's the spirit," smiled Keith. "Just do as I say and you'll do great." And with that, Sunfire trotted forward, and made her fiery mane flare up. She could do this, she knew.

Bio:
Sunfire was one of many Ponyta who lived with the Cortozan native people in ancient times. During one of Keith's several brushes with time travel, he came to be in that time period, and after riding Sunfire in a race (and winning said race!), the two began to grow close to one another. Sunfire had later helped Keith out when the time came to help facilitate the evacuation of the island before the volcano would erupt, and when it came time for Keith to return to his own time, Sunfire expressed the notion that she felt like she would miss him. So, Keith offered the Ponyta a spot on his team, and she ultimately accepted. Sunfire is a bit cautious and wary, just by default, but especially so in this new and unfamiliar time period. Modern technology continues to astound her. Though that's not to say she doesn't fit in- on the contrary, her numerous new teammates have helped her to feel right at home. As one might imagine, she gets along best with her fellow Fire-types, though she's taken to racing with Salazar, Dodrio, and Bouffalant, and seems to be good friends with them as well. And of course, Keith has a knack for helping her work past her nervousness, and she is happy to help him, whether as his ride or as his choice of Pokémon in battle.

Pawniard came to Jake in some tense and troubling times for Fizzytopia, several Trainers having disappeared all around the region. It is hard to say whether the Dark and Steel-type is aware of this, him quickly taking on a calm, but alert and obedient, demeanor. The Sharp Blade Pokémon has a remarkably cold temper, and angering him in the conventional sense is near impossible due to his, well, sharpness, both in exterior and in wit. In battle, Pawniard uses a combination of swift blade movements and clever, distracting jokes to best his opponents, those jokes the same ones he cracks randomly to lighten the mood outside of battle. He trains diligently with the guidance of Jake's Lucario, whom he looks up to as a mentor.

Bio: Rendered ownerless following the tragedy of Loch Bygone's gym leader, Pridwen left the area to do some soul searching, and went with Tori and the Codex to the AzuVee Resort to clear his mind. As Rory was winding down the events at the resort, he haphazardly parked his rear on the stoic steel type, who took this as his cue to place himself under the teen's command, and after a somewhat awry display of ability, ended up going with him. Pridwen doesn't utilise much in the way of grace or finesse, preferring to utilise his immense defensive power to outlast his opponents, and in spite of the tough outer appearance deep inside he's a bit soft, but will throw care out of the window if his allies and friends are in trouble.

No two residents of the town of Sludge Wave Coast would head out to tackle the same opponent in the same raid battle at the same time. It's best not thought about too hard, but rest assured, there were reasons for this at play. But nevertheless, that contributed somewhat heavily to the reason why Gavin Golurkson wasn't very frequently seen at any Power Spots when these raids would go down. Not due to a lack of desire to tackle these Dynamaxed adversaries, but more because one of his neighbors would have a better option to use against said opponents, and as such, off they would go instead. Such was the inherent risk of being as choosy about his team as Gavin was, for Gavin Golurkson was a Shiny hunter (which led to another reason why he largely declined to take part in these raid battles- sometimes he was simply in the middle of a Shiny hunt when the alerts would go out). With few exceptions, his team was composed entirely of the sparkly and the differently colored, and since such Pokémon were absurdly rare and hard to find, naturally, he didn't have a lot of Pokémon at the present time.

This month, however, Gavin grinned as he made his way to the Slumbering Wilds Pokémon Gym. Bleating loudly in the distance, Gavin could see his impending opponent, and though it was a species he'd seen before, under the ownership of a friend, Gavin slid open his P*DA nonetheless and went right into the Strategy Memo app for information.

"Skiddo, the Mount Pokémon. Type: Grass," droned the device. "Thought to be one of the first Pokémon to live in harmony with humans. Has a placid disposition."

"Yeah, this thing says placid, but I'm willing to bet Pokédollars to Poffins that thing'll be anything but," Gavin stated, eyeing the sizable Skiddo looming in the distance.

"Swirlix swirl!" agreed the caramel-colored puffy creature floating beside Gavin. Sherles, as ever, eas eyeing the opponent critically, sizing it up.

"Yeah, you get it, Sherles," Gavin nodded. "Can't take shit for granted in these raid battles, after all. I might not do too many of 'em myself, but I've still been around this block once or twice, so I know they ain't easy. You still up for it, then?" he asked.

"Swir lix!" Sherles nodded firmly.

Gavin smirked, giving a chuckle. "Yeah, you are, man," he agreed. "Alright, then- back in the ball, at least until we get there, yeah?" he added, holding up the Shiny Swirlix's Poké Ball. "Save your energy for when we need it, like."

"Swirl," nodded Sherles in agreement- there was simply too much truth to Gavin's words to ignore.

Gavin nodded back. "Then Sherles, return," he stated, withdrawing the Cotton Candy Pokémon. He exhaled once his Pokémon was back in its ball. "Let's fucking do this thing," he stated as he strode onward, drawing ever closer to the Gym, to its Power Spot, and of course, to its uninvited, engorged guest.

Bio:
While bemoaning his latest Shiny fail, Gavin was lured into a trap by a Shiny Swirlix who was intent on finding out who had stolen the Pecha Berries off the tree it usually ate from. After Gavin and Dakim cleared their names, they then discovered that the culprit was a mother Ursaring feeding the berries to her Teddiursa cubs, which made Swirlix feel bad about trying to lay claim to those berries. He agreed to go with Gavin after a hard-fought battle against Dakim, though. Now Sherles puts his investigative prowess to good use on Gavin's team, dedicating his talents to furthering Gavin's pursuit of Shiny Pokémon. Miror, as Gavin's previous user of Sweet Scent, was initially a bit jealous, but Gavin made himself clear that the Maractus could never be replaced, so now Sherles gets along with most of his teammates well enough- though he and Dakim have a deep respect for one another, Gonzap tends to find the Swirlix irritating, as he continually foils her attempted thefts, even if she was committing them for a good cause. Sherles's strong sense of justice shines through in this regard, and he is never one to stand idly by and allow a wrong to go unrighted.
