Yes, you can use Revives in-battle, Doppel. It's been that way forever.

Maybe I haven't been able to find them, since the back-pack has been split up into different pouches. Where are they normally located?

In battle, the backpack is split four ways. Revives are in the bottom-left of these four pouches. They are there along with heal items whereas regular potions are found in the upper-left pouch.

I see it now. AMAZING science, I don't think I've ever used a Revive in battle even in the RBY days. That's so broken!

I don't know how to respond to a statement like that.

Yeah... same here. Not sure how using an Item that you've bought/found and does the thing it's supposed to do is broken. No more broken than using any other restore item.

Your opponent has a maximum of six Pokemon, spamming Revives means they're potentially up against 99+6.
I notice the AI for the Gym Leaders is a bit better than in the old days, especially with Elesa and her switches, but even the Elite Four don't have access to Revives. Full Heals at best, and even they don't have a ton of them at their disposal.

So what, you can still choose not to use them. They're just there so that little kids can beat this game too.

You do realize the game isn't made to be "balanced" in story mode right?
I mean, when you play Baldur's Gate, you can spam Light Cure and like up to 15 Potions per character while the computer AI has like no access to such Potions. |

And like you said: they're up against 99+6 Pokémon. Or, technically, 999+6. You won't have enough money to afford 999 Revives the first time you fight the Elite 4, of course, but the technical possibility is there. (And you can't rule out Picker-Uppers picking up Revives for you, either!) Doppel, the fact that you've observed how "broken" Revives are when they can be used during battles is one reason why people invented challenges for themselves to adhere to when playing Pokemon games. One of the oldest challenges forbids the use of items during battles. Another old challenge forbids the use of items period during the story. But yeah: people were boasting about how few items they used to defeat Gary and the Elite 4 in Red and Blue even back in '99. That's how long the community has recognized that these items, while mega-useful for those of us who want minimum hassle, are something you really shouldn't use if you want bragging rights about how well you held up against so-and-so in-game.

Revives make life so much easier, especially when a lot of Gyms have Pokemon that have good IVs and natures and strategies that can deal with half your team.
AI hax like woah, so Reviving is only fair. |

Can't deny I enjoyed kicking Backpacker Talon's ass with a single move from a pokemon twenty levels below his.

BEEN LAZY!
At Gym 4. Working on it. Probably going to try to get a Sandile for Gym 4, but might just find something else that learns Dig. Very surprised that Roggenrola can't learn it. Might have to run back for Drilbur. Was thinking of naming it Drilbert. |

YOUR STRATEGY FOR GYM 4:
Step 1: Get Blitzle/Zebstrika with Lightningrod and Shock Wave Step 2: Send it out against Emolga and laugh as it does nothing/gives you free SpAtk boosts Step 3: FLAME CHARGE WAR AGAINST ZEBSTRIKA Alternatively: Step 1: Spam Pursuit

Nah, I ran Sandile (or was it a Krokorok?) like Loki was thinking. But I like your style, Dave. Very smart, very funny.

I beat that Gym using just Archeops. Archeops can learn Dig, which kills the Zebrastrika, and has Ancient Power, which murders the dumb flying rat-kites.
Use Quick Claw so Archeops can attack first even when the opponent is faster. I got lucky with that against Zebrastrika. ... I talked with Loki a bit about this earlier, but is there a way to improve Archeops? I really want to use it, but its ability Defeatist is AWFUL and debilitating, I can only see its use as a physical speed tank. But it's inferior to Aerodactyl in speed, and has a uselessly high Special Attack (because it doesn't learn a lot of Special in the first place) and no DW secondary ability. I was thinking the turtle was a terrible Pokemon to pick (and to look at!) but in comparison, Archeops seems to have a lot more problems. :/

Glad to know you approve, Talon.
And yeah, you're right Dopple. When BW first came out everyone was excited about Archeops due to the fact it has crazy high stats, STAB Head Smash, and a decent movepool all round. Then they found out what Defeatist DID, and well... it's a shame that Roost's not a TM anymore. Carracosta and improved!Sturdy all the way, baby.

I have Blitzle, but every time I send it out to battle, it dies. Like seriously. Everything can OHKO it. And it can't even OHKO those tadpoles.
In other news, Archeops is as awful as Defeatist makes it. I suppose it could be possible for use with Entrainment or Skill Swap, but you may as well be using Slaking if you're doing that. |

Yeah, Archeops is up with Slaking and Regigigas in the 'It's awesome because it has a shit Ability' camp. It doesn't even gets a Dream World exclusive ability.
And yeah, Blitzle is... frail. Pretty much a Glass Cannon.

The thunder pony, sadly, isn't so great. I used one through the main game and got it to 60 or so and.. it doesn't learn many attacks. At all. It does get to be pretty sturdy later on though, but nothing spectacular. Just not always one shotted.

Isn't there an item that reduces recoil?

There's an item that heals you based on the damage you do (Shell Bell). It doesn't DIRECTLY reduce recoil but... you know.

Spoiler: show ... n/m, I think I know where to go to find it. One question, in the opening movie for White, what is that area that appears when it says "DISCOVERIES"?

One good thing Archeops can do: basically rip the Subway apart. Speaking of the Subway, I managed to beat the Bosses on the Multi Track. But god it is hard getting a good streak going. The final battle of streak 2 is always a pain in the ass. |
