This is coming from someone who was never had any trading oppurtunities, so I would never use Onix or Scyther on a Steel run. Though, Steelix, yes.

Can't you catch Steelix' in Platinum?
You could either switch out your beloved Onix for a Steelix then if you can't trade, or hold off on using it until it is available in game... |

Yes you can. I see the latter as the right thing to do, but I can see where others might think differently.

Okay, I can already see a misunderstanding potentially arising, so, as to prevent it, bullet point details.
-I can evolve trade-evolution pokemon. However, we do have have a slight issue with types which don't have any 'mon in the early game. How will that work? Trade over a starter-esque 'mon (three stages) of the requisite type? The types in question are: -Dragon -Ice -Ghost(?) -Dark

The usual practice is to trade yourself an egg with a suitable 'mon, and then go from there. Is DPPt the first gen where eggs hatch at lv. 1? If it is, it is considered okay to raise it up to lv. 5 with your starter.

Ah, okay.
So, I guess suitable 'mon would be... Dragon -> Gible's the only one inside the dex, so...? Ice -> Again, Swinub's the only 3-stager in the dex. Ghost -> Ghastly, see above two. Dark -> ... ... Err... There are no 3-stage Dark types. What do I do? ;_; Also, everyone, what about species and legends clause? In this case, legends clause can potentially affect Dragon, Ghost, and/or Psychic. The Pixies could arguably be not too broken (but, again, this is up to popular opinion), but Giratina would be an unstoppable monster. And then, for species clause... All it really determines is if the dragon run consists of 'Storm the E4 with a Lv71 Altaria and Garchomp' or 'Create a Garchomp, Gabite, and Altaria army that would make Lance proud'. But that's still a big difference. ...And then all the card players noticed the two dragon-types in platinum are, well, you know. Also, I find it vastly entertaining that despite this being a mono-steel run, I'm absolutely terrified of going up against Gardenia. At least it's not as bad as the Rock and Ground runs will be... |

You do realize that Kin is going to do a mono of every type right?

The glorious moment when you suddenly realize, just before challenging the gym, that there is a cave with millions of those goddamned
*Fistpump* EDIT: Let it be known that Bronzor are quite possibly THE most annoying pokemon to try and capture. Zubat has nothing on this guy. NOTHING. Confuse Ray is infinately better than Supersonic, never mind GODDAMNED HYPNOSIS. But one Heal Ball later, Plutonium has joined the team. >:D

Huh. So, today I discover Switch=Set removes the option to run after a 'mon is KOed against wild 'mon. Interesting.
To up the challenge the tiniest bit, adding a rule: -Once a battle has begun, no reseting for a favorable outcome! To prevent my (cheap) habit of reseting when something doesn't go exactly according to plan (read: Crit Happens). This also means that if I lose, I take the (minor as it may be) hit to my monies. ...On that note, lost for the first time. Cherrim removed Plutonium with a rather inopportune crit, turning the tables absolutely. Mercury and Lead managed to put up the best fight they could, denting Roserade... But they were slayed anyways. Sigh. |

Lower Four Defeated!
Seems like a suiting time for an update. My Team: Quote:
I just realized that Wormadam-T is also Steel, so I'm hoping the tree I just put honey on will pay off. Also, I hope to teach Hidden Power to everyone I currently have but Lead, so. |
