Expert Trainer Battle: Missingno. Master vs Marion Ette
This was the second match held here at the beautiful Twilight Realm's Silver Lake in only a few weeks. The day was clouded over unlike the last and quite cold. A light breeze filled the arena sending leaves floating across the lake making the water ripple. The two trainers, very close friends, approached the arena together talking animatedly. This would prove to be a nice friendly match the referee hoped as she stood on the bridge pulling at the collar of her coat as she waited for them to reach her. They soon stood on the bride before her and she smiled before greeting them
"It's nice to see you both again, you sure are becoming regulars in these trainer battles" she said chuckling. I'm hoping for a nice friendly mactch from the both of you. I'm pretty sure you know the rules but we'll go over the ones specific for this match." Missingno. Master vs. Marion EtteShe allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned Missingno. Master to Heads and Marion Ette to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Tails". Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play: – I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round (I am happy with up to 3 being used per round)“No clouds in my storms Let it rain, I hydroplane into fame Comin' down like the Dow Jones When the clouds come, we gone” Last edited by Arc_Angel; 02-22-2013 at 10:11 AM. |

Round 1

Quote:
Both trainers listen to the rules before taking their places for the battle. Keith leaps onto one of the platforms in order to be closer to his Pokemon whilst Marion opts to remain on the bridge which was closer to the sky. Keith releases his battle-ready Qwilfish Hebanon who swims happily in the cool waters of the lake and Marion sends August the mighty Dragonite into the air and she spreads her wings soaring through the skies. When the referee is sure both Pokemon and trainers are ready she signals the start of the battle. Hebanon begins to move back and forth in the waters whilst August looks on. A thin beam of water energy shoots forth into the sky preparing to summon a Rain Dance. August knows not to erect her shield until she needs to, to protect herself. With the dark clouds now beginning to form Hebanon moves onto his next attack shooting a barrage of Thorns at August hoping they'll stick and slowly sap her strength but the Safeguard erects at the last moment, the green shield preventing Thorns from embedding. The shield lifts and August charges up electrical energy in her antennae as Hebonon breathes in deeply ready for his next attack. The Thunder Wave crackles down towards the lake as the Ice Beam shoots forth into the sky. Hebanon shudders as his body locks up with paralysis and August screams in pain as the Ice Beam slams into her dealing a great deal of damage but fortunately not freezing her. She manages to keep air born though her body temperature is majorly cooled and begins to perform an intricate Dragon Dance boosting her attack power and speed. Alight rain begins to fall from the clouds in the sky and would grow heavier by the end of the next round. Marion winces as the Qwilfish's ice beam takes away nearly half of August's health. It would take some serious strategy to make sure that such a thing wouldn't happen again...
"August, trap Hebenon in a Whirlpool, then let loose on him with Dragonbreath! If at any point you see an ice attack flying your way, take the turn to use Protect... Otherwise, save it until the end of the round! Don't let him press the advantage!" Last edited by Marion Ette; 02-25-2013 at 09:40 AM. |

"All right!" Keith cheered as Hebenon scored a direct hit with Ice Beam. Things were already going their way, but the paralysis could become an issue. Particularly if August got off that Whirlpool... Then, a sudden stroke of inspiration occurred to him as he racked his brains, trying to find a way to evade the Whirlpool.
"Hebenon! Teleport!" he shouted. "Get directly behind August with it, then use your Frost Breath attack! Follow it up with Sludge Wave!" |

Round 2
Marion looks on concerned for her Dragonite's welfare in the battle, she had already lost nearly half her health in only one round. Hebanon was faring a lot better even though he was paralysed his trainer was prepared to press their advantage further. August swoops down close to the waters surface and begins to fly in circles the force of the winds pushing down creating a Whirlpool that traps Habanon. He tries to Teleport out of harms way but his body locks up preventing him from focusing on the tricky move. He goes round and round being bashed by the water and feeling rather dizzy and August ceases her cirling to focus on her next attack. She hovers over the Whirlpool and fires a Dragonbreath into it, the green flames spiralling round and engulfing Hebanon who grits his eyes in pain.
The whirlpool begins to slow but Hebanon is too dizzy to move out of it and attack. August lies in wait ready to protect herself when an attack was thrown her way. Once the Whirlpool had gone the water rippling madly but with Hebanon back on the surface he closes his eyes waiting for the spinning to stop and prepares to attack ... but again the paralysis prevent him moving leaving this round a non-mover for him. The rain was falling fast now making the lake dance and ripple. Health: 86% Energy: 70% Status: Paralysed Health: 65% Energy: 67% Status: Atk + Spd + Arena: Rain Dance Missingno. Keith groaned- the paralysis, as he feared, was complicating matters greatly. Hebenon wasn't able to get off a single attack this round. August, meanwhile, had perfectly executed not only Whirlpool, but also DragonBreath.
"Come on, Hebenon!" Keith called to his Qwilfish. "You can do this! Two Sludge Waves and an Ice Beam, let's make it happen!" |

Though the round had nowhere near compensated for the damage August took from Ice Beam, at least things were starting to turn around somewhat... Though Marion imagine Keith had ordered a Rain Dance for Hebenon's advantage, August had trick up her sleeve that worked perfectly with the current conditions.
"August, show him what you're made of! Unleash your Hurricane! Make him really suffer with Dragon Rage, and Safeguard yourself from that Ice Beam! We're not letting that happen again!" |

Round 3
Keith desperately calls out to Hebanon hoping to helping him move and attack and put the pressure back on August who flies through the skies feeling a little more confident about her place in the battle now. Hebanon manges to only just push through the paralysis and glowing purple Sludge forms around him before he fires the Wave towards August who grimaces as it slaps into her coating her skin but not poisoning her at least. She shakes off the sludge still stuck to her body and stares down at the Qwilfish whilst her wings glow a bright blue. She flaps them hard and soon huge gusts of winds slam into the lake sending the water sloshing everywhere. The Hurricane is really powerful and lifts Hebanon out of the lake and sends him flying through the air before crashing down on a platform as the slicing winds die back down.
Hebanon flops off back into the lake feeling much better back in the cool waters and lets loose another glowing purple Sludge Wave in retaliation. August grimaces against flapping her wings to prevent them becoming coated in the foul stuff. She flies lower over the lake and using her Dragon Rage she tilts her head back roaring as a large twister forms over the lake and tears towards Hebanon. The twister catches him and sends him flying once again to another part of the lake landing with a plop in the water this time. He was beginning to get a bit disorientated from all this flying. Once his head stops spinning he looks for August to see her hovering over the lake waiting for him to make his move. He manages again to push past his tight muscles and let loose a devastating Ice Beam that zigs and zags towards the dragon. At the last moment a bright green shield forms before August protecting her from the attack, the Safeguard proving to be a great counter to what could have been a finishing move. The rain continues to fall but will begin to let up soon. "August, do not relent! Take to the skies with Fly, and follow it up by using Dragon Rush with all your might! If an ice attack comes up, Dodge out of the way!"

Keith could not help but grin- things were going their way once more. Another Ice Beam would likely finish the powerful Dragonite off, but Marion was all too aware of this, and no less determined to stop it from happening.
"Fish Qwilfish! Fish Qwilfish!" chanted Hannah, flopping up and down excitedly next to Keith, eagerly cheering on her big brother. "Yeah, ya got dis, Hebenon!" Meowth added. Keith said nothing at first, considering his strategy. Obviously, this would not be a particularly ideal time for Ice Beam usage, considering Marion had ordered August to dodge any oncoming Ice moves. The time had come to take some risks, and considering Hebenon's paralysis, this whole round would be up to chance. After all, Hebenon only had one shot with this move... "Hebenon, dodge that Dragon Rush, hold her in place with Voodoo Bugaloo, and follow up with Ice Beam!" he commanded. |

Round 4
Marion is adamant that August does not let up on the attack and the Dragonite is onyl too happy to unleash her fury upon the spined fishy. Keith is just hoping he can hit her one more time with an Ice Beam and end the match here and now. August takes to the sky with her Fly impressively climbing higher making her a dot in the air. Hebanon can hardly see her but soon he sees the spot growing larger as she begins to dive towards him. She combines her Fly with a Dragon Rush as blue flames erupt around her forming a fiery dragon as she speeds towards her target. Hebanon swims as fast as he can away but August adjusts her dive and slams into him sending a wave of water over the edges of the lake and covering all the trainers on the bridge, Keith has to hold onto his platform to keep from falling off!
Hebanon emerges from the depths of the lake with Augst flying out after him both looking a little shaken from the power of the attack but it seems to have knocked him out of his paralysis. His ability is able to come into force now and he uses a strange move summoning a glowing yellow voodoo doll before him. August hovers up in the air ready to dodge what is bound to be an Ice Beam before long but soon she finds herself locked in place, her wings seizing up and she crashes down onto a platform as she looks on in horror. Hebanon's Voodoo Bugaloo has worked a real treat and now he has her right where he wants her. He has to work fast though, he has less than 10 seconds to charge up his attack and fire it at her. He opens his mouth and charges up his Ice Beam as Marion screams at August, begging her to move her eyes locking with her dragons, that being the only part of her she can move. He lets his ice attack rip forward just as the 10 seconds is up but August isn't fast enough to dodge and it catches her back and tail making her roar in agony. August falls back down to the platform unable to fight any more as her trainer looks on aghast. "August is unable to battle, Hebanon and Keith are the winners!" Health: 18% Energy: 23% Status: Health: 00% Energy: 17% Status: KO'd from her injuries Congratulations to Missingno. Master and Hebanon who spammed Ice Beam until you won =p. That was you last one so if it hadn't had worked things could have ended differently. Naw your use of Voodoo Bugaloo at the end to secure the hit was well thought out. For his victory Hebanon receives this . He also receives two TM's from the Coins for Prizes that are compatible with his species (link to his Pokedex entry here when choosing your TM's) Commiserations to Marion Ette and August, you fought very well despite the exploitation of a 4x weakness (even reffed as 3x as I do here it is still a large percentage of health to lose). You were doing really well at the end and had the Ice Beam not hit you would have gone onto the next round and could have won. Good effort on your part though. August receives 1 XP for participating in the battle. |

"We... We DID IT!" Keith exclaimed as it dawned on him just what had happened. Hannah jumped up and down, happily yelling what Meowth claimed roughly translated to; "That's my brother out there!". Even Meowth looked pleased. Hebenon turned to face Keith, beaming with pride, then swam quickly up to the platform and jumped into his trainer's arms. So used to this behavior was Keith that he was not only not surprised in the slightest, but was even able to catch him with little to no effort, and absolutely no pain. "Hebenon," Keith said as he looked at the Qwilfish he had spent so many years training, "I wish your original trainer, the one who left you in the Adoption Center all those years ago, was here to see this, just so they could see what they missed their chance to have. I wish everyone who mocked me for replacing Tentacool with you was here to see this, everyone who claimed that you wouldn't amount to anything... Because we proved them wrong today, Hebenon. You were awesome out there." With that, Keith hugged his Qwilfish, both Pokemon trying and failing to hold back their tears of joy. *Hebenon obtained a trophy!* *Hebenon learned Thunder Wave!* *Hebenon learned Toxic!* Good battle, Marion. Thanks for reffing, Arc! |

As Hebenon somehow managed to channel a voodoo doll of August from the ether and stab it from the ether, Marion looked on in horror as her beloved dragon was paralyzed in midair. She begged and pleaded with August to overcome the paralysis and move, she could see in August's eyes that, try as she might, there was absolutely nothing she can do. Both look on, weighted down by cruel inevitability, as Hebenon once again exploited August's weakness to ice. Though Marion screams to August to do her best to endure it, as August's once powerful form falls limp to the ground, she hangs her head, empathizing with her proud, determined Pokemon. She knew that, once August awoke in the Pokemon Center, she would be so incredibly disappointed. That said, perhaps the loss would ultimately be good for August. It was true she had taken down a Salamence, and that her power had grown immensely, but perhaps the true threats in this world were those that were easily underestimated. Indeed, it was also an important lesson to both of them that, as strong as August had become, both trainer and Pokemon needed to be aware of their weaknesses.
Recalling August, Marion watches as Keith celebrates Hebenon's win. She can't help but smile a bit at their incredible enthusiasm and joy. Hebenon had spent years upon years training for a moment just like this one, and she would never begrudge him this victory. Stepping off the bridge and away from the battlefield, Marion makes immediate and determined steps toward the Pokemon Center, wanting to immediately tend to August's wounds... both in body and in pride. ((Claiming 1 XP. Thanks for the battle, and thanks for reffing, Arc!)) |
