I have some of my testing log, but it's on the other computer.
As for the Phys/Spec split, PokeCommunity's finally back up, so harrah. (Good thing too- I actually had the patch saved, but not the locations of the bytes you need to change!) In other news, all this hacking activity has gotten me inspired again, but I'll keep that under wraps for a bit. ~_^ |

I have an updated version, complete with physical/special split and much harder GLs/E4. Running through it right now to test for bugs. If anyone else wants to try the newest version and help bug test, I'll upload it and post it here.
Azurill is pretty great. |

I'll test it, seeing as I wasn't too far anyways.

Dangit, you got the new beta before I could get anywhere in the old one? You move fast!

Here it is.
Now, I won't index all the changes here, but feel free to ask questions. If it's something I don't want talked about, however, I will kindly ask that you withdraw and delete the comment. Certain things I don't want spoiled. EDIT: That's because lately, almost all I've done is eat, sleep, and hack. I think I may need to ref... Also, I haven't implemented the curve yet as far as wild Pokemon, so grinding will be hell for the second round of E4

I was planning to pick one up anyways, but this convinced me. Magikarp is so obvious though that I'm probably not going to end up actually getting one for use on the team...depends on how good the changes are. Gonna have to get a Gyarados eventually of course bcos water/dargon
Also what emulator do you recommend for use on this hack? I've been using VBA but if there's one you personally like I'll be sure to take a look at that one.

I use VBA.
And aside from a couple movepool changes, 'karp really didn't get much. I think I increased attack and/or special attack like 10 or so Base Stats, but that's like it. But Splash is a real move now. |

I really do appreciate the tiny little changes the most.
Daisy Oak: Grandpa asked you to run an errand for him? Gee, that's lazy. Keep up the good work.

As a note, I will be messing with wild Pokemon levels and encounters. New wild areas may be added, too (perhaps some tall grass located in Cerulean, locked until after cut and/or Surf, and perhaps the ability to fish or surf encounter in Cerulean Gym). The level curve will change quite a bit, and wild Pokemon will be pretty damn difficult in later stages. Good news is, it will make grinding for the 8 or so level increase in the E4 easier. Bad news is, you may have to deal with things like high level Machamp and Steelix and Crobat and Tyranitar in Victory Road.
Happy Hunting. Hopefully, that beta should be released within the next couple days. I might put a hold on changes for a bit afterwards, or I might start on a slightly bigger project I'm dealing with. I have a couple going. |

Kairne, what's Sandslash's typing now? I noticed my Earthquakes were SE against it but my Brick Breaks were NVE and I can't narrow the typing down.

Would guess Ground/Poison. Which makes me sad. Pangolins aren't poisonous. |

Ground/Poison is correct. The way he learns Poison Sting and the quills always screamed poison to me.
Gligar got the same typing. |

I would make Gligar Bug/Ground because he is a scorpion(not to mention the Bug egg group), but I can see Ground/Poison.

Unfortunately, I lose some very hard work done on this, and if I started modding it again, it will have to be from the last update posted, which really harshes my mellow.
So. I may start my next project, which will be a Ruby hack with a changed Pokedex. If I remember correctly, there are 202 Dex slots, and I will not be unlocking the national dex. I still don't have the ability to enter other Pokemon, because I'm still just mostly a hobbyist on this, but I can move the Pokemon around and substitute with Pokemon from previous gens in the regional 'dex. Some Pokemon will have to be kept in it, particularly plot-related and trainer signature 'mon, such as: Spoiler: show That gives us about 69 Pokemon that need to be there. Some Pokemon I want to include are the Eevee line, Yanma, and the Sunkern line. Others that are in it that I wish to exclude include the Torchic line, the Mudkip line, and and possibly the Natu line. Basically, some nice shifts to the dex. As well, I will want to include people as trainers. In some of the work I lost, I made several trainers in Victory Road into UPN folks, including Muyo, Daisy, and even myself. What I need is suggestions. Not only Pokemon to include, but also changes to movesets, moves themselves, typing, and stats. I can even try to do some small map editing things, but who knows how well that will actually work. Anyway, fire away. |

Okay, well, I lost a lot of work of Fire Red Expanded, decided to give it a break, and crack up a hard mode where the champion is stupidly difficult and the level curve is harsh. So, I decided to throw both together. My new project: Pokemon Fire Red Expanded: Hard Mode. Basically, it's similar to the unfinished Fire Red Expanded, only it will be much less forgiving. I have a few Ability and typing changes done up, and I have a list of some (but nowhere near all) of them:
Spoiler: show Ones marked with a * feel free to give ideas, advice, alternative ideas, whatever. I am about to fix up some moves, and there will be a Physical/Special Split. Anything not listed, feel free to suggest, although it may already be in place. |

All of the ones you've starred seem like pretty awesome changes to me, though I would like to hear the reasoning behind pure grass (other than 'grass/flying is a horrible typing'). Levitating Geodude is particularly nice.
The only one I have a gripe with is Normal/Ground Dunsparce. Once again, I'd rather just hear your reasoning behind that than go off into a bunch of suggestions without understanding.

I may just go with pure Ground for Dunsparce. His design and learnset just feels right for it.
And yes, Tropius pure Grass because the Flying typing hampers it too much. Also, in the process of attempting to add some extra moves. Wish me luck. |

Hex editing did not go well, may try again later.
I think I am going to boot Sabrina and let Karate King Kiyo be the Saffron Leader. That may mean I have to boot Bruno, too. What Gym Leader/E4 member/special person would y'all like to see replace him if I do so? I have basically only the pool of sprites from R/S/FR/LG to choose from, making me tempted to go Sidney (if I had a Karen sprite, she's be in like Flynn). I may also boot Koga for Janine. |

If you're booting Sabrina for Karate King, then how about booting Bruno for a Psychic-type GL?
You could even have Sabrina advancing to become the new Elite Four member, much like Koga. Or you could go with, I dunno. Liza and Tate? :S A surprise double-battle in the middle of the E4 could shake things up, I suppose. (What I'm really trying to say here is, Sidney is the worst Elite 4 member ever conceived.)

I have ideas. Be afraid.
I was thinking about possibilities of what to do, should I play around with it, and I came up with a few ideas: 1: Booting Sabrina for the Karate King Kiyo, and either promoting Sabrina to the E4, or bringing in someone else (Sidney, because Dark types, Steven Stone, because Steel types, or someone themed for Bugs or Normal-types, as these 4 types are sorely underrepresented in Kanto games) to replace Bruno, as he has taken an indefinite leave to explore the peak of a newly-discovered mountain called Mount Silver, or perhaps moved to Unova to help clear out Route 10 from the mass landslide. This lets the Karate Dojo work as a training Dojo set up by Kiyo's brightest student (perhaps named Miyamoto?), granted his own Dojo to teach newer students, as martial arts tends to do, or perhaps a gifted student committed only to the older ways of Fighting types, shunning all but Kanto ones, who broke off from the main Dojo due to this difference. 2: Creating another link in the chain. That is, since Kiyo lost his Gym to a weakness, the Psychic type, have Sabrina lose her Gym to one of hers, creating either a Ghost-type, Bug-type, or Dark-type Gym instead. The lattermost allows the Karate Dojo to be a true asset at that point in the games, granting a decently-leveled Pokémon of advantageous type to the town's Gym. The Ghost type fits best with the warp panels, however, which would mean I would not have to do a mass restructuring of the Gym, and it is believable that Agatha would retire from the Elite Four, and either take the Saffron City Gym, or just plain retire, either way enabling an Elite Four restructure. 3: Leaving it all as is. 4: Similar to number one, but either a rival Dojo or a former student of Kiyo's taking over the Saffron Gym, and claiming it as his own stake, causing a bitterness between the two Fighting Dojos, with only one as an official League Gym. EDIT: Oh, also, Sidney rules. Mohawk + ginger hair = awesome squared |
