The Fissure landed right on the mark, a statement one typically only gets to make maybe 30% of the time, but with Bear's No Guard, anything was possible. Terri smiled at this- with Bear's considerable help, the barrier shielding Toxtricity was shattered completely, allowing various powerful attacks to get right on through, landing powerful super effective hits on the mon itself. They'd broken right through its defenses and were pummeling it for huge damage! Everything was going according to plan, everything was great!
And then Toxtricity actually attacked. The Max Ooze, Terri wasn't too surprised to see. As the friend and neighbor of Fizzytopia's perhaps most famous Poison-type master, she knew good and well what that particular Max Move would do. More useful in terms of utility than outright force, Max Ooze served to raise the user's Special Attack, and so Toxtricity likely wasn't too bothered by the fact that its target was another Golurk, seeing as both Ghost and Ground resisted Poison. It then went for another move that was all about Utility- this time, it was Encore, and it was targeting the other, smaller Toxtricity. The last thing that Toxtricity had done was the Gummi Bomb attack, so for a while, that was all it was gonna be able to do. Had this been the extent of Toxtricity's onslaught, it would've honestly been pretty OK. But no- then came the Sludge Wave. A devastating, disgusting deluge, unleashed with great force, that washed over various Pokémon, all of whom resisted it, but with Toxtricity's pumped-up Special Attack, it hit hard nonetheless. The best that could be said is that it didn't hit all of the Toxtricity's opponents. "Bear, are you alright?" Terri called. "...AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI," Bear responded, robotic monotone somehow managing to betray the tiniest touch of tiredness, but only a little bit. Indeed, the Golurk was still standing strong, determined to not allow the powerful technique to get the better of it. "THE TOXTRICITY HAS MADE ITSELF CAPABLE OF POWERFUL SPECIAL ATTACKS. SUGGESTED COURSE OF ACTION: DYNAMIC PUNCH. AWAITING PERMISSION OR ALTERNATE ORDERS." Terri, however, shook her head. "Not just yet," she said. "I see where you're going with this, but I think we should hold off on that for now- look!" she stated, pointing to Toxtricity, who had already set up another protective barrier. "...INDEED," acknowledged Bear. "IN THAT CASE, I THINK I CAN DISCERN THE COURSE OF ACTION YOU ARE ABOUT TO COMMAND OF ME." "I think so, too," Terri smiled. "So let's do it again, Bear! Fissure, let's go!" "AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI!" Bear thundered, making to strike the ground once more. Yet again, the ground ripped open, and as the Fissure neared the shield, powerful energy would erupt from within, causing calamitous damage to the bothersome barrier. And Terri just watched, eyeing Toxtricity curiously, hoping things would go well following this. She knew why Bear wanted to land a Dynamic Punch, and she couldn't argue with its logic, but unfortunately, it would have to wait until this shield was dealt with. She only hoped things would play out in their favor. OOC: Bear used Fissure (0 BP; OHKO move hopefully hitting a shield; user has No Guard). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 08-31-2021 at 10:01 PM. The fallen Lopunny's trainer rang out a cheer for El Hefe, giving him a healing surge to hopefully tank some extra hits. The raider team laid into the remaining shield-like barriers the wishing well boss had put up, and then into the boss itself, dealing some nice damage to it before allowing it to go back to its retaliation.
A second Max Ooze from the raid boss hit the other Golurk, kind of amusing how the move seemed to be chronically drawn to them specifically. With the earlier cheer, El Hefe was thankfully able to tank another Sludge Wave from the wishing well raid boss. While that was fortunate, what was less fortunate was that it had used quite the annoying move against his own Toxtricity, an Encore to lock him into the same move, forced to use it a few more times. Which could be quite the issue with a weak move the boss resisted. Darik had played a risky game, and it looked like he was being punished for it. He wasn't happy, but it was really only himself he had to blame here. However, he could at least be smart about it at this juncture, not just resigning himself to the weak hits. The shield barriers were gone, for now, but common trend would dictate that another round of them would not be far behind. If he timed it right, let enough of the others land blows against the boss Toxtricity, he could shatter more shields, and not have to worry about how weak the blows were. If it worked right, he could even make use of the shields twice for that purpose. And with its widespread moves, continued boosting of its Special Attack, and El Hefe's low health, the raid boss potentially making El Hefe faint could be a blessing in disguise. That would break the Encore's curse on him, and possibly pull some of its damage away from his teammates. Darik waited for a couple of his other team mates to go into action before jumping in. "I know it's all you can do right now, El Hefe, so let's let loose with another Gummi Bomb!" he ordered. It occurred to Darik that the group had yet to tap into Dynamax energy and increase the size of one of their Pokemon and get a substantial health and power boost. It was likely they would blow past the need to use it for shield breaking soon, so he supposed it was more likely they'd use it as a damage push. If they needed to tap into it at all. Though, that doesn't unnerve the guitar frog, as it uses a Max Darkness to take down its fellow Toxtricity and dropping the special defense of Gligar, the awake Golurk, and the Lopunny. It then spews out a nasty sludge wave, falling the Pallossand and the Golurk who's special defense just dropped. Lastly, it lets out a rockin' Thunderbolt, knocking out the Lopunny who only just came back up. The raiders are sent reeling, their comfortable advantage decimated before their eyes, and the Dynamax initiative jumps to the sleeping golem. Dynamax Initiative: Raves, Golurk

Toxtricity had indeed set up another big shield, and Bear's Fissure was indeed able to do a good chunk of damage to said shield, moreso than any regular attack would have achieved, but that, alas, was where the good luck ran dry. Because once they were done, and Toxtricity got its chance to attack, one thing became very, very clear;
Toxtricity. Was. Pissed. Absolutely everything the Punk Pokémon did this time around was nothing short of devastating. Each and every attack scored at least one knockout. The Max Darkness struck the allie, non-Gigantamaxed Toxtricity, robbing it of its remaining hit points. The subsequent Sludge Wave was even worse- the best that could be said about that, at least in Terri's opinion, was that if it had to knock out Bear, it at least also knocked out the Shadow Palossand, because if she was being honest with herself, she'd have been somewhat scared to be anywhere near it without some form of defense (cut her a little slack, she almost got eaten by a Palossand once, that would make anyone wary of the species, to say nothing of a Shadow Palossand on top of it all). And following that, Toxtricity rounded off the whole fiasco by Thunderbolting the Lopunny into unconsciousness. Four knockouts in one round, and the raging storm overhead reacted accordingly, growing in intensity with every KO. Already it had reached a point where they could withstand it, but only just barely. Just one more KO and they were all screwed. And they weren't even close to taking this thing down yet. "...Bear, undo!" Terri declared, withdrawing the totally unconscious Golurk before her. And the Dynamax Energy swirled around the Poké Ball, beginning to work its restorative magic on the Golurk within. At the same time, a little Dynamax Energy swirled around Terri's Dynamax Band. She glanced briefly at the shield, but then her eyes found the comparatively colossal Golurk still slumbering from use of Rest- and not much better off than before it had used the move, Terri couldn't help but note. "Hm," she murmured. She glanced around again, at her various allies- three of them were already gearing up to take down the shield. That, Terri realized, might just be enough to do so, which in turn would allow her to use this time to help them out in another way. Taking careful aim with the Dynamax Band, as though the Wishing Star set into it was a wrist-mounted laser, Terri fired a bundled beam of Dynamax Energy at the massive Golurk with intent to heal. It wouldn't solve everything, but at this point, what would? The situation at this point in time was looking somewhat bleak, and they all needed to work together if they had any hope of emerging victorious here. "I hope we can do this," she murmured to the Poké Ball in her hand, which made a feeble wiggle in response, as though the Golurk within was trying to convey its agreement with that sentiment. OOC: Cheering to heal Golestandt the Golurk. |

Gigantamax Boss Toxtricity ★★★★★ Health Gauge: 45% Shields Up: 0 Status: Def -2, SpAtk +2, SpDef -2 Trainer Status: Safeguard (3 Rounds Remaining) KO Count: 5 Raider Healing Summary: MM (Golurk): CheerRaid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: G-Max Stun Shock (140 BP)Raid Challengers: The team spend most of the round healing up as well as breaking down the rest of the shields, hoping the resting golem would wake up. One more turn to go on that, with how Rest works. The Toxtricity sees this as a gigantix snoozefest, and feels that things needs to be more spice. It uses its G-Max Stun Shock to liven the place up, but it does nothin to the sleeping giant. Annoyed, it uses a Discharge, hoping that would do the trick. Nothing, two ground types. With that not working, it uses its Boomburst, screaming at the top of its lungs at the crowd still up. While it does nothing to the Dynamaxed Golurk, the Gligar feels the full blunt of the attack. At least something finally got a reaction out of the crowd. Dynamax Initiative: Raves, Golurk

It bothered Terri somewhat that all she could do at this point was watch and wait, and yet, that's just what she found herself having to do right now, at the mercy of the slow process of the Dynamax Energy working its healing magic on her Golurk. And yet, as Toxtricity began to attack, the wisdom of bringing Ground and Ghost-types to this fight began to come into play. The G-Max Stun Shock, which would have ordinarily been a devastating blow, was directed at the slumbering Golurk who didn't feel a thing from it. Following that, it used Discharge, but the only Pokémon the move attempted to hit were a few Ground-types- once more, Toxtricity's move did nothing. Last but not least (in fact, strictly speaking, the exact opposite of least), there came the Boomburst. The explosion of sound washed over the Golurk, once more proving woefully ineffective, but the Gligar was not so fortunate. Well, OK, it actually really was fortunate, in the sense that it had only just used Roost, and this was the only reason it actually remained conscious once the Boomburst died down. Moreover, this marked the end of Toxtricity's latest onslaught, meaning that only one Pokémon had taken any damage this time around, and that Pokémon was not knocked out. They were all still in this!
At around this time, the swirling Dynamax Energy finally drained out of the Poké Ball in Terri's hand, and so she threw it forward without hesitation. "Bear, engage!" she declared, eager to be able to get back in on the action. The Golurk reappeared in a flash of light, looking good as new, as though the Toxtricity hadn't robbed it of so much as a singular hit point. Bear glanced around, seeing all of its allies still ready to go, and more importantly, Toxtricity without a single shield to defend it from attack. "THE ONLY QUESTION, THEN, MISS TERRI," the ancient automaton rumbled, "IS WHETHER WE SHOULD AIM FOR MAXIMUM DAMAGE OR ATTEMPT TO CONFUSE IT." Terri thought about this- Dynamic Punch was fairly tempting here. Yeah, Toxtricity resisted it, but the damage wasn't exactly the main point here- it was also guaranteed to confuse the target if it hit, which, thanks to No Guard, removed any and all instances of "if" from said equation. A confused Pokémon was a potentially less dangerous target... but then, Terri considered how many times they'd forced it to put up a shield before taking it down. Such things were very taxing on the defenses... Ultimately, Terri shook her head. "I think at this point we should just hit it as hard as we can, Bear," she stated. "Get this over with as fast as we can." "THERE'S SOMETHING TO THAT," nodded the Golurk. "SUGGESTION ACKNOWLEDGED AND HEEDED. ON YOUR COMMAND, THEN, MISS TERRI," it stated, standing at the ready. And Terri, smiling confidently, did not keep Bear waiting any longer than was strictly necessary. "Then use High Horsepower!" she commanded at once. "AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI!" Bear bellowed, barreling forward to slam into the Gigantamax Toxtricity with all of its might. OOC: Bear used High Horsepower (95 BP). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 09-04-2021 at 11:59 PM. For a moment, Terri was slightly nervous. For all their considerable efforts, including Golestandt finally waking up and managing to actually land a powerful Max Move, Toxtricity was still standing. Very much near the brink of collapse, yes, but not there just yet all the same, and more to the point, now provided another opportunity to attack. It occurred to Terri that had she been able to order an Earthquake, Toxtricity might have been closer to defeat, if not outright there, but she knew good and well it wasn't worth the effort, considering it would have struck their allies as well. Terri could only watch as the Gigantamaxed creature before them went for its signature G-Max Move once more... only to immediately demonstrate that the last round hadn't taught it a thing about type matchups, for it once more had attempted the same move against Golestandt. They say, after all, that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results.
"THE TOXTRICITY DOES NOT SEEM TO COMPREHEND BASIC TYPE MATCHUPS," Bear rumbled relatively quietly, observing the creature's chaotic yet fruitless attempts at achieving one of the most basic and elementary objectives of a Pokémon fight; dealing damage. "And thank Arceus for that," Terri whispered back, watching now as Toxtricity went for its special attack, Overdrive... which was also an Electric move... which was also targeting a Ground-type. The Gligar, in this case. Terri dared not say any more for fear of pushing her luck, and indeed, the last thing Toxtricity attempted this time around was yet another Boomburst... which went the same way as last time, washing harmlessly over several Ghost-types and only doing damage to one of its targets, this time said target being the Lopunny. And the Lopunny was still standing- Terri exhaled in relief as this last fact registered with her. Toxtricity had, once again, saved Boomburst for the tail end of its onslaught, and was open to attack once more- and with how much they'd just weakened it, victory was certain at this point. "I BELIEVE THE PHRASE 'WHO THREW THAT PIECE OF PAPER AT ME?' WOULD BE APT IN THIS SCENARIO, YES?" Bear inquired. Terri giggled at this- Bear had been one of the Ghost-types Toxtricity had so unwisely targeted with that Boomburst, and was, as one might expect, left totally unscathed by it. "Heh heh... Yes, Bear, that would be apt," Terri agreed. "We have our chance now, so let's seize it, shall we?" "I AM READY WHEN YOU ARE," came the mechanical, monotonous, yet somehow still sincere-sounding, response. Terri nodded her satisfaction with this. "Then let's finish it off! Bear, use High Horsepower one more time!" she commanded. "AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI!" thundered Bear, just as ready to wrap this up as its Trainer. Once again, the Golurk threw itself forward, went to ram into the Gigantamax Toxtricity with great force, which, despite the obvious size discrepancy here, was not nothing by any stretch of the imagination. OOC: Bear used High Horsepower (95 BP). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 09-05-2021 at 12:23 AM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

"No, thank you, Bear," Terri replied with a smile. "You battled really well, and I'm proud of you." "YOUR PRAISE IS RECEIVED, ACKNOWLEDGED, AND... APPRECIATED," replied Bear. "I CONFESS THE BATTLE PROVED TOUGHER THAN I INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WOULD," it admitted. "FROM A TYPE MATCHUP PERSPECTIVE, I HAD THE CLEAR ADVANTAGE." "Aw, don't beat yourself up because it managed to knock you out," Terri shook her head. "Type matchups don't decide everything. That Toxtricity had a lot more to work with than just Electric moves and Boomburst, we saw that firsthand. It's why you can't underestimate any opponent ever, really," she stated. "You've seen Eddie's Weedle in action, yes?" "CORRECT," conceded Bear. "HERMIONE IS CAPABLE OF THINGS I NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE FROM A WEEDLE. MANY UNUSUAL AND POWERFUL TECHNIQUES. IT DID NOT COMPUTE. IT STILL DOES NOT, FOR THAT MATTER," it admitted. "Exactly," smiled Terri. "Expect the unexpected. No matter how good you are- and you are good, Bear- victory is never a sure thing. "I UNDERSTAND, MISS TERRI," nodded Bear. "I SHALL ENDEAVOR TO NOT UNDERESTIMATE ANY OPPOSITION IN THE FUTURE." A pause. "MAY I SUGGEST WE TAKE OUR LEAVE AT THIS TIME?" it added. "UNLESS I AM GREATLY MISTAKEN, OUR PRESENCE IS NO LONGER NECESSARY AT THIS PLACE." "No, you're right, Toxtricity's gone away," nodded Terri. "Let me just grab our rewards and we can head home." "AFFIRMATIVE, MISS TERRI," the Golurk rumbled, already making the physical preparations for when Terri was ready to leave- namely, withdrawing its legs into its body so that it would be ready for takeoff. And once Terri had come back over, the various items given as rewards safely stowed away in her bag, Bear held out a single massive hand. Terri stepped onto it, and Bear lifted her up so she could instead climb onto its back. Once she was securely holding on tight (and Bear was absolutely sure of this fact), the Golurk rumbled with the sound of rockets roaring to life, and as it proceeded to Fly into the air, flames shot out from underneath it, where normally its legs would be. It was on the back of this, basically a giant flying robot, that Terri was making perhaps the most spectacular exit one could make in such a situation, as Bear made to take them both back to Sludge Wave Coast. *Obtained 40 Watts!* *Obtained the Poison Ball!* *Terri obtained a TR78 Sludge Wave!* *Obtained 2 Wacan Berries!* *Obtained the Kebia Berry!* *Bear was elevated to level 59!* Using the TR on my Musharna. *Selia learned Sludge Wave!* |
